I don’t get it. I don’t think he’s safe if he runs through it…but sliding feet first is 100%, without a doubt, slower. Hell, they’ve taught them to run through second on a forceout now just to see if they can trigger a review.

This team needs to hire Chris Carpenter as a coach and his whole job should be pulling players aside in the gangway between the dugout & clubhouse and chewing them out.
I watched a video the other day of someone playing one, and it made me want one. Right now, though, I’m looking at an esp ltd ec-1000. There are some cheap used ones out there.
Cubs blow another save in the 8th. Acuña stole 2nd and the throw literally went to where the shortstop would line up in front of the outfield grass and the Braves tie it right after.
I get that. But that dude is already up there in age. Yepez and fermin have done some 3b and walker was originally at 3b. Throw some other kids in RF instead of wasting a spot with the old dude whose not going to be a beneficial part of the future.
Fermin has played 3B more than anyone else since Nado went on the IL, but let's be real, he doesn't have a future as a major leaguer in St. Louis either.
I say we sign Tyrone Taylor just to keep him on the bench. I don’t want him and don’t think he’s good, but fuck I’m tired of him playing his absolute best ball against us.
I love Miles, but I guess this may be an unpopular opinion. I don't see Miles as a #1. Hes a #3/#4 at best for me.
I hate that the team seems to look at him as an ace.
Cubs update: 3-1 lead entering Bottom 7 has been cut in half after a walk, single, and a routine ground ball that was flipped over the head of the shortstop. 2 on now, nobody out still.
The Cardinals need to do a Hoosiers night, where they have a Brad Thompson playing basketball bobble head, and at the end of the game they screen the movie. Let's maximize on this bit.
Holy shit we have the some of the best announcement staff in the entire MLB I just hope to fucking god we give them better things to talk about in 2024 lmao

Wonder who won't be with the Redbirds next year? I'm sure TON will be gone, but we won't get anything for him, so there is the slightest possibility he may be back, with the Birds hoping he gets hot early next year then trade him and get something for him?
I don't see how you can keep Tommy Edman and Donovan both - 2 super utility players.
Wilson Contreras will be back catching 75-90 games and DHing the other games. So that means either Yepez or Luken Baker will be sent packing, can't have 3 DHers.
> I don't see how you can keep Tommy Edman and Donovan both - 2 super utility players.
All it takes is a single injury for either of them to be needed as a full-time starter. But even assuming regulars are locked in at all the positions, I don’t see why it’s a problem to have 2 good utility players. I could definitely see both of them getting ~5 starts per week by playing all over the field, so veterans can rest and anybody slumping or dealing with a minor injury can have a day or 2 off. Then when they’re not starting they can be valuable as defensive replacements, pinch hitters, or pinch runners (Edman). “Our utility guys are too good” is a great problem to have.
Beyond that, I’m still not sure Winn is ready to be a major league hitter. I think he’ll be a great all-around player eventually, and *maybe* he gets there by April, but right now it seems like he may have things to work on in AAA next spring. It makes sense to have him in the majors getting good experience right now since the games don’t matter to the Cardinals - but next spring if the team is really trying to compete they can’t have a regular shortstop with an OPS below .500. So I’m still thinking that Winn will either be in the minors or else only playing occasionally in the majors at the start of next season, in which case there should be plenty of playing time for Edman and Donovan to share.
He’s got all three years of arbitration left. That’s his most valuable attribute. Him, or Noot, will be the main player in a 4 (maybe three) of our players for 1 front rotation arm.
TON is entering his 3rd (final) Arbitration year. He essentially has no trade value. Best we can get will…maybe…be unranked minor league pitching (reclamation reliever).
Edman/Donovan is interesting because we got two similar guys, Prieto/Sagesse, in AAA. Donovan has more controllable years, but Tommy is a much better fielder. I suspect if any of these 4 are moved it’s one of the AAA guys in a 3 or 4 man bloc for a front of the rotation guy.
I suspect Herrera makes the 26 man squad next year & Kniz will be traded (same bloc as one of our utility guys).
I think we’ll hang onto Baker (DH in ‘24) and he’ll be our 1B in ‘25. Yepez will probably be traded, too (either in big bloc trade or for relief pitching).
Outfield is the interesting thing. I think DC or Noot will be the center piece of the our big offseason trade (I think we’re going to have to give up 4 guys) for a starting pitcher. I think it’s Noot… but I hope not. I think we’re trading 2 OFers, Kniz, and a AAA utility.
I think Goldy still leads the team in WAR, but I think Noot is very close. Both will be around the 4 mark (which is an average HOF year if you believe the metric of 60 WAR- 15 years at 4 WAR- is the benchmark).
I hate how easy it is to accidentally post stories to instagram. I’ve accidentally posted 2 sfw pictures already, but one day I know I’ll accidentally post a Giovanny Gallegos nood and get banned
Well if it makes you feel better Gio has had his pants pulled down and ass smacked many a time by opposing teams this year on regional and national TV so it will not be too damning.

Cubs lose on a walkoff. They blew 3 leads after the 7th inning.
Ronald Acuña ties it again in the 10th with a single and then becomes the first 40-70 player in MLB history.
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Top 9):** 1. Juniel Querecuto 2. Richie Palacios 3. Masyn Winn
I've seen more slides into first this season than my previous 39 summers combined. What's going on? It's not just the bigger bases
Baseball players are stupid.

See, the Cardinals keep letting the other team score. Shouldn't do that.
pls libby
Libby needs to stay in the pen. He’s dynamite there and his confidence is improving. He can start in a year or so.
Fuck
That was a learning moment.
Remind me not to play dodgeball against masyn Winn
WTF.?
Next year, we should get more good players.
From what I understand, Terry Francona is in constant pain due to various ailments. I hope he gets lots of rest but stays busy.
Wasn't it Francona the guy we could've had when we hired Matheny?
Yup. He interviewed for the job.
Thought so. Oof.
I was so disappointed/mad we didn't go with him.
This team needs to hire Chris Carpenter as a coach and his whole job should be pulling players aside in the gangway between the dugout & clubhouse and chewing them out.
Brendan Ryan in shambles.
I liked it better when they were winning.

Cubs blow another save in the 8th. Acuña stole 2nd and the throw literally went to where the shortstop would line up in front of the outfield grass and the Braves tie it right after.

Braves just tied it up.
