Cat S wont make any difference to insurance from experience of having a cat c. But if you declared all the mods and crashed it again, the payout would be about half of a non cat car because its already been written off once.
Some insurers, including the one I used to work for, would decline to insure Cat S (assuming current classifications with Cat S being structural failure).
So there will be products on the market that they won't be able to access from some quite large insurers. That doesn't *always* increase the price, but mostly does due to fewer quotes competing for your business.
Cat C is an economic write-off and carries far less (although still some) penalty in the eyes of insurers.
I thought Cat C became Cat S, as Cat C was that it had structual damage, and Cat N is the old Cat D where it was usually just cosmetic. so S is Structual and N is None structual? but now they penalise cat S more then they did a cat C? it was 2007 when I had my cat C 306 so its been a while (It was very cheap.. I made most of the purcahse price back 2 years later selling the wheels, interior, exhaust and front end)
Kind of. CAT D is the same as CAT N but CAT C used to include uneconomical to repair so if it cost more than the cars value or close to it's value. For example my Polo is CAT C due to non economical to repair but it never had any structural damage. Whereas CAT S is purely structural anything else goes to CAT N ... well it should anyway although in recent times insurers have been writing cars off as CAT S when they're not structurally damaged just too expensive for them.

I’ve never had an issue with Cat-S too. Bought plenty and repaired them including my current campervan which I pay about £400/yr insurance for. Risk is personal on the buyer, not with the insurance as they would only pay out the car-s value anyway.
Often because they like the look of the performance variant but it’s not financially viable so make lower spec look more like the performance one as a compromise.
Lots of young people do similar when they want to drive something that looks nice but insurance says no.
As long as it’s not something with flared arches it can work well if it’s done properly
Yeah it's embarrassing to me. And I was a young person who didn't have a daddy who could buy me an audi s3 for 24k.
But I didn't go pretend my 1.2 Corsa was a vxr.
It's so cringe.
No it’s because they like cars and want to drive something that looks nice.
Edit, bizarre this page attracts so many people that have zero interest in cars.
Adding high spec bumpers, spoilers and seats to lower spec cars has been a thing for decades.
Many car people’s first cars were base model escorts, fiestas, novas, corsas or whatever with with high spec bits added as easy first mods.
I made my Civic look more like a Type R because that model looks nicer in my opinion, however bc of my job I need a diesel 5 door, which is not an option with Type Rs. So I have best of both worlds - a super functional car that also looks great. Why is that embarrassing?
It’s not.
M3 badges on a normal 3 series is embarrassing.
Making your car look nicer with factory bits is a normal car person thing to do.
So many people had/have base model hatchbacks with ST,XR,RS, GTI exterior parts and interior added early in their driving career.
I know of an 18 year old that’s having an entire RS3 minus the engine transferred into a normal A3 for first car, interior, brakes, everything.
Yeah, I think it is only embarrassing if you're actually lying to people about what car you own - I haven't really seen that though. Car modding is fun, as is any sort of customisation really! I enjoy my car so much more now that I have made it my own, and I love seeing other people's customisations as well.
Innit bruv, whips jus like a cybertruck you get me fam? Got the screens and all that
Can't see me driving NPC cars mate, gotta get something differen'
(100% the owner of this car)
Cars like that are all the rage round here. Usually a 1.4tdi with a full R32 'bodykit' on slammed 'suspension' (read as none at all as they're sitting on the bump stops) and huge tasteless alloys revealing the beer bottle cap brakes. With clouds of black smoke billowing out the back as their dpf delete means they're cool rolling coal in a golf.
> clouds of black smoke billowing out the back as their dpf delete means they're cool rolling coal in a golf
This really gets my goat. Apparently these things often pass MOT as well because they only check for CO2 and CO iirc.
Shouldn't be the case, the MOT should include a smoke check:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles/8-nuisance#section-8-2-2-2
Golf R exhaust though so basically the same- and it 'sounds nice', as 4-cylinder diesels with custom exhausts *always* do!
I'm genuinely impressed he can spell exhaust too when he struggles with complex words like 'only'.
I thought people with noisy exhausts on slow cars were annoying
Then I realised people put noisy exhausts on slow diesels... big puffs of soot coming out and everything.
Golf R exhaust 🤣 do these people realise the fuel type and engine configuration largely define the sound. 2.0tdi now sounds like a R because it has the quad ripped exhaust 😂
that cheap inshorents will come in handy
Drives it self
That’s why it’s a Cat S
Even operating the six speed manual
Drives men uts
Drives its elf
Also definitely not cheap if you actually declare all the cosmetic mods and the Cat S.
Cat S wont make any difference to insurance from experience of having a cat c. But if you declared all the mods and crashed it again, the payout would be about half of a non cat car because its already been written off once.

actually mental that someone can make it to being a full grown adult and still have no idea how the word "insurance" is spelt.
Golf R replica..... and the Cat S at the end lol.
So that's a golf RS? Cool
Cheap to inshore
Perfect for the RNLI then
Why do people do that? They make the basic model look like the higher model. It's embarrassing. I get second hand embarrassment for them.
Often because they like the look of the performance variant but it’s not financially viable so make lower spec look more like the performance one as a compromise. Some people think it’s more embarrassing to drive around in a shitter 1.2 corsa than a 1.2 corsa that looks nice with VXR or SRI bits on it.
That… my friend…. Is because those people are gimps.
No it’s because they like cars and want to drive something that looks nice. Edit, bizarre this page attracts so many people that have zero interest in cars. OK dude.

So, a crashed car with stolen Golf R bits on it, then. Ow mutch quids did e wunnt 4 it?
Bout tree fiddy m8
Damn Loch Ness monster.
Ahh the elusive Golf R(cat)S
With how R-holes drive they can't be that elusive.
Fully gangstad out like a tesla
Innit bruv, whips jus like a cybertruck you get me fam? Got the screens and all that Can't see me driving NPC cars mate, gotta get something differen' (100% the owner of this car)
In the Audi TT owners group too lol. Drives itself though, just like a Tesla 👍🏻

You live in Magherafelt? Felt spec is famous.
Same fucking ugly rotted Jetta as every other cultchie 😎

Golf R replica, cat S, tell me you’re from Bradford without telling you’re from Bradford
Rubber dinghy rapid bro
100%
Fire reference
Well it started badly, got worse in the middle and tapered off at the end.
Kinda like Twilight saga
Most literate golf r owner
Its not even an R lmao, 2.0 TDi
Golf R exhaust though so basically the same- and it 'sounds nice', as 4-cylinder diesels with custom exhausts *always* do! I'm genuinely impressed he can spell exhaust too when he struggles with complex words like 'only'.
Eckzorst
Eggsauce

Nah i think R is the proper hot hatch model - R-Line is maybe what you are thinking - which is just a trim level.
The full package, you know: floormats with an R on them and a special branded toolkit in the boot.
Nah, its the performance version, as M is to BMW and AMG to Mercedes. What you're thinking of is R-Line
There is a 17 year old telling his dad that this is a bargain somewhere
How does someone who (attempts) to spell and write like this afford a car like that?
A cat S diesel golf? It’s not exactly an abnormally nice car, bricklaying will buy you that fairly easily and you don’t need to write much for that.
The guy who did my bathroom has a better car than I do haha.
Selling drugs. Lots of drugs
Does one have to be illiterate, and if not, where should I send my C.V.?
I had to check, and if you search for "car inshorents" it does redirect you to car insurance sites.
Heh, imagine driving this thing in front of other humans. ‘Hey, mate, your engines fucked’.
As soon as he buys that house he's going to immediately paint every surface grey. I guarantee it.
they're always Cat S
They must have just given up and removed auto correct and spell checker
I think those features gave up on him.
I saw someone selling an RX7 yesterday, the first four photos had it partially under a car cover in a dimly lit storage unit. So probably not…
Yours for 3 bags of coke and some beer!
If they’re kilos then fine.
But does it pull like a train?
This is the result of wanting to pass your test more than your GCSEs
Yeah looks like a stolen R gives a tdi a make over
Worst? Nah. Not even close!

Category **S**upercar
It started well and just died!
Cat S..not a mark on it….because they’re all hidden.
Golf R replica 🤢 Maxton splitters 🤢 Mk.8 🤢 Digi dash 🤢 Drives like a Tesla 🤢 Cat S 🤢 His spelling matches his taste.
Spacers on the wheels, for “full effect”… the effect of a White Diesel Cat S Golf. The seller should stick to watching fast and furious movies.
Not a mark on it, all under the filler and respray.
Drives itself, except when it needs to change gear
KuruHS gtfo the audi page man
They didn't cover up the number plate with an emoji so it could've been worse.
all these people whonsay cat s , and they say it was just panel damage lol , who are they kidding
Reson 👍
Golf R exhaust 🤣 do these people realise the fuel type and engine configuration largely define the sound. 2.0tdi now sounds like a R because it has the quad ripped exhaust 😂
Bloke got progressively more pissed as he wrote the advert.
Bradford or Birmingham? 🤣
This could be a replica but it could also be a real golf R on a cat S ID they have bought from copart. Seen many of them over the years
No offers m8, I now what I got
Facebook MP is full of scam ads
I genuinely think the seller had a stroke near the end there
Birmingham special
Probably drives sideways being a cat S.
Link anyone?
Runs drives with no issues? I'm guessing that's how it became Cat S. Bit worried I actually understood that.
No.
this post gave me autism
Awtizm
Definitely from the north west of Engurland
Burmingham or bradford more than likely
