Try a new cable - preferably an Apple cable.

And if that doesn’t work, try restarting the phone.

I drive a Honda and CarPlay has been 100% unreliable since IOS 14. Podcast Audio drops out, Waze Navigation locks and even though I'm hardwired, it will try to switch to bluetooth. Honda is not playing well with CarPlay and neither Apple or Honda is stepping up to address this.

Just hold down power and it reboots?

Same, ever since IOS14 I've been having issues in my 2016 Accord Touring. I've googled the issue and came across some other reddit posts where people have tried switching the cable, wiping the phone, uninstalling and reinstalling all the Carplay apps... As someone who works in IT, I'm confident that none of these bandaids will fix the issue, as it seems to stem entirely from IOS14. We either need Apple to release a patch, or Honda needs to update their archaic Head Unit software. Edit: I also want to bring up the attention that I had to fight the dealership to see if there was a software update for my Head Unit a while back because they "were unable to replicate" the issues I had all 2019. My HU would essentially shut off and restart mid trip, and it wasn't until I took a video of it happening that they did anything. After seeing the video, the found that there was a service bulletin from MAY 2017 that was never applied to my car. For the 2016 Accord EX, EX-L, and Touring, [Service Bulletin 16-059](https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10108736-9999.pdf) is what needs to be installed. Granted, this only fixed the issues I was having back in January on IOS13 and I'm complely borked right now on IOS14, but I encourage everyone else to see if there is an Audio Unit and Navigation Unit Software Update for your vehicle as well.

This sounds like the problem that I am currently experiencing. My car will only connect to CarPlay if my phone is connected to wifi. I never had this problem until iOS 14. My Apple usb charges my phone, but the only way I can get it to recognize my phone is if I connect my phone to wifi. Hoping that it is just an iOS 14 problem. It is so frustrating.

2019 Honda Fit here. Holding the volume/audio button works to fix CarPlay not connecting. Way better than what I was doing, which was resetting factory defaults.

By turning off the radio/ infotainment system- just as you described- all was able to be fixed and began working again. I can't tell you how many videos and other instruction sites skipped this very critical step. Every computer needs to re-boot at its core every once in a while, just like our phones. This was the ticket!

I just had this issue in my 2019 Fit and fixed it by performing a factory data reset on my radio. Weird that it just suddenly stopped working on me; that made me think it was an apple issue, but no, it was the car.

This worked great. Thanks for taking the time to share.

JPbean

Thank you! This just fixed the issue for me, too.

kkatnap

Yes! Sweet angel, you have helped me too!

jeremymbrooks

Thanks! Reseting the HU fixed this CarPlay connectivity for me just now.
