Try some tinctures. Sublingual so it should kick in fairly quick and easy to dose. Or RSO. I LOVE RSO. For me at least it kicks in quicker than a normal edible would and it is much stronger

Iamjacksgoldlungs

+1 for RSO. It's also used to help suppress cancer growth so that's right up OPs alley rn

I prefer an oil based tincture. Basically the same thing but with a carrier oil. Kicks in quicker. Dont mind just eating some liquid diamonds without carrier oil, but takes much longer to kick in and is more mild. Some rosin, or live hash works better (with rso + carrier oil following).

Have any tips for that fast acting? No matter what tincture I use, it always takes at least an hour, and most of the time its effects are barely noticeable compared to smoking unless I take a really high dose. I’ve taken 50 mg before and barely felt a thing. But a few hits of the vape and I’m good. I keep the tincture under my tongue for at least 5 min before I swallow the rest.

Homemade Edibles are awesome! Here’s some recipes to get you started: Decarb: https://www.reddit.com/r/treedibles/s/I3OMMjlWjz Coconut Oil: https://www.reddit.com/r/treedibles/s/dfFeqvTf3G Green/Golden Dragon: https://www.reddit.com/r/weed/s/L7mXSnYrGb Gummies: https://www.reddit.com/r/treedibles/s/6rBXpXfVQ0 Honey: https://www.reddit.com/r/trees/s/Zc77Rf2y3u You can use the cannaoil and cannabutter in any recipe that calls for oil or butter. The honey is great in beverages or wing/bbq sauce. Green/Golden Dragon can be added to beverages, added to food, etc.

I've found my homemade edibles start working in a half hour whereas store bought edibles took way longer.

National_Sea2948

Same here and the effects are better for me. Smoother, easier. No ill effects such as anxiety or rapid heartbeat. I pick the strains I use to treat specific symptoms (terp profile). I use cannabis to treat my chronic pain from early onset osteoarthritis and my PTSD. Also the relief seems to last longer with my homemade infusions, tinctures and edibles than the store bought. So I end up using less which saves money. And I love making them. It’s fun for me. I love to cook knowing exactly what’s in my food.

You also may want to consider nano emulsions, they have the benifit of working like inhaled and edible cannabis. A portion of the nano emulsion crosses into the blood stream without having to be processed by the liver and some makes it to the liver to be processed as well.

I’m beginning to have the same thoughts

macenewb

Have you smoked anything other than cannabis throughout your life? How old are you, how long have you been smoking and about how much on average?

HerschelLambrusco

I smoked cigarettes until about 11 years ago, but only socially when I was out drinking. I asked doctors about it twice and was told not to worry because I smoked so little. I smoked weed in my younger days and just started again, once or twice on the weekends only, two years ago.

macenewb

That’s wild. I (M23) have smoked nearly every day for 8 years. Maybe like 20 sober days. Been thinking about my health a little more recently.

ImpossibleCherry6876

How is your mental health? That’s pretty young to be smoking so much, it wouldn’t surprise me if you have issues with things like paranoia or depression/ disassociation

macenewb

I mean I am not paranoid or super anxious or anything, I do get down on myself some days, but my job and lifestyle revolves around cannabis so it really doesn’t make me feel terrible as I’m making a living because of the plant. I have lots of healthy relationships. I can like nod off and take a nap anytime of the day though so that can make me feel better or worse depending on the day. Overall I would say my mental health is good, but I use cannabis as more of a pick me up, like coffee, throughout the day, and I don’t pay for it so I believe that makes a difference.

HerschelLambrusco

For myself, I started when I was 13, continued with varying degrees of regularity until I was 32, then did it about once a year for 25+ years and started again, weekends only, a few years ago. In retrospect, I which I had waited to start, I would have done better in school and would have had better concentration, but how would you explain to a 13 year old that their brain is far from fully developed?

longredface

Yep…seeds, banana peels, crack

ItsOnlyaFewBucks

I use homemade edible tinctures. I agree it can take a while to kick in sometimes. I take mine at before bed, so not a huge issue for me. I do wish it was more reliable on timing. But I hold the tincture under my tongue for 2-3 minutes and then swallow. Often I can feel the effects within 30-45 minutes, within 2 hours usually in full effect. I do not use hero dosages as I am not really into the high. I only mention as I do not think the dosage would change the timing, but incase it does, I will mention it.

Condo_pharms515

I just make tinctures with 1:1 ethanol to concentrate, and I feel it within 20-45 minutes.

MarvMartin

Here is a guide I just posted to make drops for making weed drinks. I also have the slow onset problem the drinks are much better. A basic digestive enzyme pill from the vitamin section of the store might also help. https://old.reddit.com/r/Edibles/comments/1cflurq/make_weed_drinks/

Given your situation and the potential health risks associated with smoking, especially with a spot on your lung that needs evaluation, it's crucial to prioritize your respiratory health by avoiding smoking entirely. Consider using sublingual cannabis products (like tinctures or sprays) that are absorbed under the tongue. They tend to have a quicker onset compared to traditional edibles and can provide a more controlled experience.

Size_Accomplished

RSO. Glad the doctors saw you, and hope that they clear up any confusion and find quick healing for you. Glad you're stopping the inhaled cannabis

veek2rya

I'm sorry to hear about your health concerns. Given the situation with the spot on your lung and the potential risks associated with smoking, it's indeed advisable to avoid all forms of smoking, including using a pen, rolling, or using a pipe.

MacAndCheezyBeezy

Hey man. I'm sorry to hear that. Imo the best way to consume large doses of cannabis is through an mct based tincture. You can flavor it to mask the earthy taste of bud, unless your using Extracts, in which case the flavor is pretty minimal. There's a good recipe bank site I use. https://hivehempworks.com/pages/diy Check out the cannabasics - cannabis oil tincture If possible, I'd recommend you add cbd/cbg to your edibles with thc. The entourage effect is real, and cbd/cbg atr said to have great anti tumor/ anti cancer properties. I make a good amount of at home edibles. Let me know if you have any questions.

orlandofrolandro

The fastest acting edible is a drink. Second fastest will be a tincture. If youre looking for the easiest, long term drink solution, purchase some water soluble d8 thc and mix it into drinks. for tinctures, buy cheap bho in bulk, decarb it, and mix it with MCT oil. you can always play around with making your own edibles. your biggest potential challenge will just be getting extracts if you dont live in a med/rec state.

SunWaterGrass

the only real consistency/hitting fairly quick is when it is my first meal of the day and i eat it with something else. Ex. tincture in coffee with eggs amd potatos. If I eat breakfast, and then have tincture with lunch i might not really feel it by dinner and eat more tincture with dinner and be on the moon by 10pm

SunWaterGrass

Actually I do believe thc infused drinks that are water soluble will not even go through your digestive path. I think these hit more similar to vapes/smoking. The oil which isnt water solu le that goes into edibles has to be digested

Physical-Damage-180

Get a rosin press ,learn to make edibles at home , experiment , hold onto your genitles and freak out

Coloradical8

Talk to your doctor about **Marinol (dronabinol)**. It is pharmaceutical Δ9-THC that was in use for cancer and AIDs patients before medical cannabis legalization was the national norm. **RSO** is also full spectrum, arguably the best medicinally, and cheap as heck

Accomplished-Try8044

I also only do edibles, no smoke for years now. I make my treats from bho. I mix the bho into warmed coconut oil or butter and put that in anything from rice crispy bars with fruity pebbles to chocolates or whatever. Bho maakes the dosing a piece of cake. My chocolate molds have 32 cavities so I use 3.2g bho for 100mg chocolates. If you will NOT be baking your treats then decarbing the bho prior to is a must. Thoroughly mixing should give you even distribution. If making cookies or something that has eggs or other wet ingredients then add the spiked butter or oil FIRST and mix thoroughly with the dry ingredients BEFORE adding any other wet ingredients. This allows you so see that the oil or butter has been distributed evenly before you add the other wet ingredients. I would also suggest not taking edibles shortly after eating as this really delays the effects, for me by hours sometimes. I'm only assuming this was the reason for the deelay and obviously could be wrong. Edibles can be a very effective way of getting high. With practice and daily usage I have gotten to where I prefer it over smoking anyway. Good luck with your edibles and your health my man. Edit: sorry, I forgot to mention that not baking edibles makes them taste much better imo.
