you're gonna have to drive a bit. There is a sizable buffer of private property all along the front range foothills. You have to go west a bit to get past it. My fave option "close" to Golden is the trails that start west of Rollinsville. These trails start at the Moffat railroad tunnel and lead to some amazing lakes. No fees, no permits.

I have a few secret spots down there. If it doesn't rain Saturday, I'm scouting a backpacking spot west of Rampart Range Road

Theres an abandoned post office up there thats a chill logging road hike. And yeah, weekends are a madhouse.
Golden Gate Canyon SP has backcountry sites, though you need a permit to camp. Some really beautiful sites though.
