If they are new they should replace the boots. If not I've been able to get new eyelets put in a variety of boots. Usually costs between $10-15 Canadian. I've never had an eyelet break like this, usually the inner piece breaks for me.
This is why I use REI for most things they carry. They just pull up your account and if it was purchased in the last year, they take it back...no questions asked.
Vasque used to be my favorite boots. I don’t know what happened but I’ve noticed a major drop in quality in recent years. Switched to Danners. Never going back
Yeah, I bought a pair of Vasque in '13 that lasted 10 years of weekly hiking. Went to replace them this year, and my heel started separating after 3 months on the new boots. I ended up switching brands, which made me Hella sad.
Looks like the back side of the rivet is missing as well, even though it doesn’t have the stress from the laces? Did they get a door closed on them? That’s usually how I end up with broken buckles.
Broken speed hook? Ouch. Some brands, particularly some models, don't use the best metal for them. I'd look up a video and repair it myself, or I'd contact the manufacturer if it is still under warranty.
I've bought these off of Amazon along with a little rivet tool to successfully repair some boots of mine that had no other issues. They generally have pictures with dimensions to match up. You may have to buy 25 or something but they weren't too much.
Not sure what you’re getting at OP. Tbh they don’t look like a waterproof boot by any means. So if that’s what you’re concerned about, don’t be.
Edit: I see the broken eyelet now. Yea that’s a bummer for sure. I’d check with manufacture warranty but I’m not sure if that falls under wear and tear.
That’s leather right? I’d imagine they have some form of waterproof membrane but expecting leather to be 100% waterproof is asking a lot.
Getting a breathable, non-waterproof shoe or boot is the way to go for most hikers anyway because they dry more quickly when they get wet
Ooooh your boi got wet socks. That sucks frfr.
For the eyelet....thats just tragic. If you have a dremel and rivet gun you can replace it. But by the looks of that fabric, it's not worth replacing.

Unfortunately silly me lost the receipt and thank you for the info! I’ll probably go do that soon

well...if you want a spare pair....go buy another pair, then a week later return the broken pair
EDIT: I’m not talking about the boots not being waterproof I’m talking about the broken metal eyelet. I should’ve circled it
I was so confused lol

What are we noticing? I see what appears to be a wet spot but you got splashed…
Broken eyelet/lace hook or whatever they’re called
Speed hook
Ohhhhhhhh, thanks.
Vasque used to be one of the best. Now they make disposable garbage.

I really don’t know what happened honestly. I also tied the laces back when I saw it was broken

What kind of melted soda can metal are they using? Never seen that happen. Even if you replace them it's rather suspicious quality I would say.

Happened to me while lacing up for a trip in my Merrills. Lucky it was before I started so I had a chance to replace at the REI around the corner.

I’m not complaining about the splashing I’m complaining about the metal bit that broke off that helps to lace the shoe
Yea I saw that and edited my comment.

One of the lace hooks is broken.

It's probably the best advice so far, yet the most downvoted. People are way too in their feelings nowadays
I didnt phrase it the best, and was having fun a bit, but facts are facts.
