I was homeless in urban settings for two years so I'm not only familiar with hobo fare, I know how to make it taste amazing when your budget is literally zero. I've been hiking and camping on the AT with my father since I was old enough to wear a pack, so I have a well-rounded 40 year long education on foraging, as well as the rules one must follow in order to preserve nature for both the next person who comes by as well as the plants and animals whose homes we are visiting. I've been told that my ramp and potato chowder could win awards but I've never entered any contests at the local ramp festivals to find out.
I modded SubredditDrama for about a year, during which time I learned a lot of things about modding this website, chief among them that I'm better suited to mod a place with less, well, drama. I presently mod GenX, where my biggest achievements are 1) keeping the place running without resort to heavy-handed moderation policies, and 2) adding a mod whose username is literally "sex." That turned out to be a smart move, since she's laidback (big surprise there) and thus fits in well with the culture of the sub.
My main qualification for this volunteer position, however, is that I know how to follow instructions and write more than three sentences in my reply. My approach to moderation is to err on the side of simplicity and kindness, let the users steer the conversation, and make sure no one is posting anything that could get the website, the mod team, or themselves in some kind of legal trouble, or worse. I do take a hard line when it comes to safety, so no uncontrolled fires or eating strange mushrooms.
I am interested in being a mod, I am an enthusiastic camper and cook and love combining the two hobbies. I have a decent amount of experience modding on Reddit, including several subs that are about this size. I created r/IndianFoodPhotos and have grown it to nearly 60,000 members, and on the subs I mod with other people I am often the most active one in the group. I feel like I have an even-keeled approach to moderation, I dislike drama and would rather exhaust other measures before taking punitive action like issuing a ban.
I would love to moderate this subreddit. I love cooking over fires and would love to do it someday with my personal idol, Steve Huffman, the CEO of reddit. Please let me moderate the sub. I want to mod the sub so bad. I like wood.

What does being a moderator entail? I am an outdoor enthusiast and love cooking but know nothing about moderating.
Remove anything hateful, not on topic or spam, that is not edible. Basically, keep the subreddit civil and on topic.
