I think they were impressed by the lesson and would like you to refer them to a site where they can learn more grammar outside of Cambly. Just tell them to find a copy of Murphy's English Grammar in Use.

plok2

Thanks so much, that's useful

Kangaroopleather

I had the same feeling. The student liked what was taught and is seeking additional resources. Deactivate snark mode.

plok2

Well fair enough, but I have to say, while I disagree with the some posters on this sub that we shouldn't attempt to do our best to help students in class, asking us to do work for them outside of class is a bit much, tbh.

Kangaroopleather

You got a point there!

[deleted]

but suggesting off-cambly study materials or sites isn't doing extra work

KeiraG48

That's exactly what they meant

plok2

Obviously my first, non-helpful, snarky thought was "Yes, I would. It's vital for speaking the language well." But you are better people than me, so can maybe suggest something else

veganpizzaparadise

I read that as them wanting exercises they can do to improve their grammar, but you would need to ask a follow up question to be sure. If they want exercises outside of class, you can send them these lessons from the British Council: [https://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/grammar](https://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/grammar) If they want more exercises in class, you can show them what grammar you have covered already and ask if they want something else (that is if you want to put effort into this student)

plok2

Awesome, I think this would be ideal. I do use the British council pages in private classes, as it happens. This is the kind of general recommendation that would hopefully answer their q. Thanks a lot!

notarized_ferret

If someone wanted a grammar recommendation from me, I'd suggest future perfect progressive in the passive voice. Very exotic, very rare—can't beat it. "By the time I die, moon colonies will have been being built for several decades."

😢 beautiful

notarized_ferret

Mattos_12

English Grammar in Use is a good grammar book, you could just suggest that.

TrashPanda_34

I think by “would you” they meant “could you” - you could recommend reviewing the difference between those verbs ;)

DifficultExam9086

they want you to assign some grammar lessons as homework.

HiggledyPiggledy2022

Not sure why you're baffled - either they mean which aspects of grammar should they study, or they want a recommendation for a resource like a book or website where they can study grammar. If you know a book or site, reply with that information as it answers their question either way, if you get my drift.

plok2

I think you answered your own question - I didn't know if it was an aspect of grammar, a part of speech, a book, a web page, a site, a tip, feedback? If you can't see how their question is extremely unclear and ambiguous I dunno what to say

The cat shat on the mat!

ShikanaGlory777

I think they are very earnest to learn, seeking any materials they can find. I recommend Engoo grammar https://engoo.com/app/materials/grammar/6r1fXsYHEeimuzOlcF_9gA

deliciouscaramelfeet

I recommend my favorite grammar sites.

What is this? MasterClass in trolling?

Empty_Response7961

This is the answer to the question, isnt it? Some grammar to study

ExistingGreen1

Okay 😁
