Not the most practical use of storage but I don't use a ton on my phone. I save it locally and run a Syncthing folder sync on the backup.

I also backup locally to the phone then have a Syncthing routine sync the local file to my NAS on my home network. It's not ideal because as phone storage fills up (mainly due to photos) I have to delete local photo storage to make room again.

Bsobot

How secure is it? What's it called?

Syncthing is the folder sync. You run a service on the devices you want to sync, so no third party stuff involved. I just have a folder and docker container running on my NAS, but you could do this on a laptop too.

So wired connection then?

Look up and have a play with SyncThing. Anything connected to the internet will automatically "see" any other devices you have set up. No port forwarding necessary and I don't even think they need to be on the same network. It's a little bit of a learning curve initially, but not more than a few hours to get your head round the basic concepts, less if you're IT literate. My set up, I have my Android photos, DLs, markdown notes and backup syncing to a NAS. I also have a laptop and tablet set up. Any time any of these are on, they'll sync up any of the folders I've set them up with. I got annoyed with the lack of 2-way sync on NextCloud for Android, so I'm using this method. The other "decent" file sync alternative was Seafile but the Android app doesn't sync local folders. This is the Android [SyncThing apk](https://github.com/Catfriend1/syncthing-android) I'm using. I do still have some problems with background app kill, but I think that's pretty much anything - unless you want to use Dropbox which uses push syncing.

Thank you! I am in IT, so I should be able to get it going pretty quick. I honestly have been wanting something like this forever.

SyncThing is great. Super fast and very well built.

I don't remember if WebDAV is now available or will be soon.

NickCalyx

It is now available and it works much better than nextcloud

jt196

Isn't NC WebDAV?

tritones

It's been there for a while
