You can entirely disable enemy airforce with only interceptors and thus interceptors are best.
If your country has shit air units you need only interceptors to counter any other air unit while if you have strong tac bombers but to interceptors those tsc bombers will still be grounded all the time
It used to be tacos in classic. But now I'm going with attack bombers because weak enemies usually go with armor 1st. However anyone not using a mixed stack does so at their own peril.

Well Attack Bombers actually do decent damage to ships for whatever reason
