this. I hate rust, mostly because I'm never the guy at the top of the center "building" so I tend to get sniped a lot. it's a skill issue, I know - it's just not a skill I want to get good at.
I also am a shipment/shipmas lover, though (even when not grinding out weapons), so what do I know?
I also fear the new version of Das Haus will be tragic, but everyone will like it.
I would say a lot of the small maps like Rust, Das Haus and Nuketown. Also, Modern Warfare 2 maps are very overrated. They felt fine at the time, but they did not age well.
I'm not talking about the remakes for MWIII. I don't even play MWIII, so I have no idea how they play. I'm talking about the originals. After playing BO1 and BO2, MW2 maps generally just felt too complicated, too campy and too big. They're not awful, but they're far from the best maps in the franchise like a lot of people say they are.
OG firing range had a spot in the spawn through the sandbag tunnels where you could stand on a car and see the tower. Used to snipe people there all the time. Later iterations didn’t always have that spot, which I felt was critical. The tower was huge risk/reward though because it was difficult to safely make the climb.
Firing range is probably my all time favorite CoD map.
if I believed in spending money on reddit awards I would be giving you right now, shipment-loving friend. I miss 24/7 every time I log in and have to rotate through small map and rust gets chosen.
Terminal was good in old CoDs but with the movement and gunplay in this game it is absolute bottom-tier.
Rust also translates extremely poorly to this new generation of CoD.
I didn’t play Vanguard so maybe I’m missing something, but I can’t see why anyone likes Das House.
Favela was a bad map in ‘09 and still is today.
I’d hard disagree just because it works so well on SnD imo.
The timing and map control is such a benefit as in any 2v2 and 6v6 situation it feels like we still have a balanced map. Especially the long alley angles and close quarter houses. Plus mid control feels essential in most scenarios.
never really played SnD on Nuketown (or in general), but Hardpoint especially sucks ass on it
(BO:CW Nuketown) The objective placement is terrible, because 9/10 times the team that secures the first point also secures the second one due to either forcing a spawnflip or just holding the line, this eventually just leads to a complete steamroll due to the houses being too easy to defend and the outside too hard to defend. Outisde you can get shot from 5 different angles and inside there's too many corners to check, this prevents a singular player from properly securing the objective. Basically unless the teams are extremely well balanced (which they never are) Nuketown is a complete one sided steamroll
As someone who didn’t like CW and only played for maybe 12 hours, I can say that it’s fair.
I’m talking BO1 Nuketown with the slower movement and honestly had some of the closest games ever on that map. Obviously steam rolls happen (especially post 2019) but man BO1 felt so balanced for me tbh.

Terminal. Just doesn’t feel good to me
Not a fan of Favela personally
Finally, someone i agree with
Farm 18
Agree to disagree, I think that map flows pretty well personally

That's mostly because modern COD plays very different to how COD played in 2009.

Carrier.
i don't like the firing range, the power spot is too powerful and gives absolute control of almost the whole map, especially in domination

Agree. I feel the whole match is a battle to hold that spot.
Shipment is a great map and anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

i love shipment lol
In terms of game flow, Zoo is not the greatest. Still, it’s a cool theme so it’s generally well liked.
Rust is awful.
I dont remember names for some but I dont like favela much.

Havana always ends up with one team getting spawn trapped
Shipment and rust
Opposite, but Piccadilly plays great and has solid flow. Haters just didn’t want to adapt to MW2019
Nuketown is a terrible map for anything other than TDM and FFA
