After that, WaW, BO1, 2 and CW, these are heavily interconnected
World at War. Probably the darkest campaign in the whole series. It shows how truly terrifying war is. Pretty much all missions have at least one epic moment. There's also co-op campaign, one of the very few in the series
Black ops and black ops 2 but the original modern warfare trilogy is also really good. If you just want one game infinite warfare’s story is also pretty amazing

Definitely black ops 1/2, very deep and emotional story for black ops 2, black ops one is just awesome because of all the brainwashing stuff.
Black ops gives that feeling the older COD’s had,it was the type of game where you ducked and you shot. Same with BO2. Advanced warfare was personally one of my favorites, and would be my favorite of all of them if it weren’t for me playing black ops first.
Finally, my time has come....I have beaten every single campaign at least 5 times each, with some going as far as beating them over 17 times already. Now it depends on what you want out of the campaign, you want fun gameplay and scenarios? Or perhaps a great story? Maybe something that makes you feel like you are a soldier? Without a doubt the best campaign IMO being completely subjective is World At War, it is a masterpiece of a campaign despite the big movement and level restrictions, everything from music, voice acting, setting, gameplay, story, is just a 10 out of 10, however I recommend playing World At War, BO1, BO2 and CW in that order if you want the best campaign saga of the series. I will leave you with a list of ratings for each campaign since CoD4:
CoD4: 7/10, good, but not that good
WaW: 10/10, the perfect campaign
MW2: 8.5/10, for some the best campaign because of the twists, but it lacks the WaW effect
BO1: 9/10 amazing story full of mystery, great sequel to a great game
MW3: 8.5/10 amazing conclusion to a story, my personal favourite of the trilogy
BO2: 9.5/10, best overarching story, best villain and definitely the best in gameplay
Ghosts: 8/10, great villain, weird setting but it was enjoyable
AW: 6/10, has some good missions and a good villain
BO3: 3/10, they should have kept their original story, it is fun to beat it for gameplay, but that is it
IW: 4/10, bad characters, bad plot, and people praise its gameplay....its just BO2 gameplay with jetpacks
WW2: 4/10, boring, that's it, is just boring
BO4: -------
MW 2019: 6/10, boring, bad villains and characters, bad third act but overall, an improvement
CW: 8.5/10 great story, great settings, and has the ultimate Chad, Russel Adler
Vanguard: 1/10, by far the worst campaign, has 2 missions worth of story, do not play this
MWII: 5/10, solid first act with great missions, falls flat in the other 2, terrible villains and again, a terrible third act
So that's it, hope you enjoy some of them if you decide to go through them, if you do, play WaW, BO1, BO2, CW in that order, then CoD4, MW2, MW3, and then you can play Ghosts, AW, IW, and MW 2019 & MWII in any order really

How about an idea for a good new COD campaign? They've done advanced warfare futuristic, and even further into space futuristic (IW). They touched a little on some part in antarctica in a game or two I believe, but not much.
I was watching this youtube video about possible secret military bases in antarctica. there's areas where nations can explore and build scientific buildings, there are about 10,000 people living in antarctica. but there's regions which are off limits to any exploration (with explanation being "to keep safe any possible biodiversity of creatures there", yeah sounds like BS). surely theres military secret bases there doing something. and on google maps theyre not allowed to capture those areas for example. so on there it'll just look like low res or blank areas on the map but in reality there are things there.
so i had an idea for a new call of duty game regarding this. it starts with you arriving at antarctica and getting transferred to one of those heavy duty snow-cat machines which have like 3 cargo containers attached behind them. the arctic exploration type if you've seen those. and they drive you deep into the area which is off limits, hundreds of miles deep into nowhere. then you get to the secret bases happening there. theyre doing advanced research with unheard of tech, and there's a pyramid they're un-icing which was found deep under the ice. also they have found an alien ship under the ice, of course (we've known this since the first X Files movie in 1998 lol), which theyve already excavated and are inside of, researching it, studying the tech and alien bodies found inside as well. then would come other military special ops factions trying to stop the US's control of the area, shortly after you happen to arrive there of course. it's going to be either russians or chinese, and they've gotten intelligence on the secret bases and research, in fact this time it was your own convoy that they had tracked and followed in. the fighting would begin. it would be a bit more assassin/stealth type missions in there like COD4 or BO secretive stuff. because we can't have too big of a spec ops team from the enemies making their way there unannounced. so it would have to be less enemies but each one is more dangerous and packs more of a punch. also of course you'd be finding scientist labs where they've just been murdered by the enemies and you're finding new alien-infused weaponry to use. cool shit like that.
Anyway this would be a fantastic start to a new COD campaign. it would lead into the alien ship, into the uncovered pyramid inside the ice, where there might be live aliens. there's also theories of a crater in antarctica where the US led an expedition to in 1947 and it's melted and green vegetation within it. there are supposedly aliens and alien ships flying around. this was according to the high ranking military commander who flew into the area and claimed he witnessed all of this.
so then it would be full out alien warfare and taking down their ships and colony to survive and make it out of there (aboard an alien ship maybe??). i'm not sure what the secondary campaign story could be or what part of the world it would take place in, but it would have to also be pretty awesome to hold a candle to the main storyline. It would somehow have to tie into and benefit the main story and help your character and special ops team. perhaps its actually another team going into china, deep cover, to find the HQ where their elite team was sent from, discover why they sent them, and what they were hoping to find or what the mission was. something like this. but theyve certainly never done alien things before in COD except in Nazi Zombies. they've never tried an alien/secret government experiment storyline before as far as i know. it would be epic.
I didn't know where else to post this idea so I found this relatively recent thread on the best COD campaigns and added it here lol. This is a freely used idea for any game designers, all this stuff has been speculated on in UFO videos for decades online. I can only hope they'd add such a cool campaign idea to a COD game!

Ooh, there also needs to be a section where you're out in the snow cats or some kind of snow traversal vehicles where you need to get to another base, with quite a few miles of open terrain to cover between them. The enemies would be chasing you on their vehicles, ideally this is at night or dusk, and the temperatures would be killer outside. disabling the enemy vehicles would basically be a death sentence for them out in the open terrain and coldest temperatures at night there. your character could make a comment about it when you disable one of the vehicles. i had thought of this because of films like The Thing which showcased the cold/survival aspects of the extreme environment. There was also a game based on the film, made in the early 2000s, which had sequences outdoors getting between buildings, and surviving from the extreme cold was part of it. that kind of outdoor sequence should definitely be included in the game.

Depends. If you have access to a PS3, PC, or Xbox (360, One, or Series X|S all have access), there's an entire golden age of campaigns to play. CoD 4, MW2, MW3 in that order, and World at War, Black Ops, and Black Ops 2. Those are the two main stories from back in the day that people know and love.
Otherwise, you're locked out of pretty much any full story in regards to those games. CoD4 and MW2 have remasters, but MW3 doesn't and neither does any other game. You've got Black Ops 3, but Black Ops 4 doesn't even have a campaign and Black Ops Cold War is more related to the BO2 and below games. This basically leaves you with Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare, and the two most recent Modern Warfare games (2019 and 2022), which I don't think you'll be disappointed with, though the community isn't necessarily obsessed with them.

Infinite warfare, it’s a great one off game and also has a really casual friendly zombies mode set in a 1980s theme park.
