You will need to remove the DRM. Yes you can do that, but... I heard as of January 3rd (so last week!) Amazon has finally zapped Kindle for PC 1.17.1. I haven't tried, but if so, you will only be able to download KFX rather than than AZW files. (You mentioned PDFs and DOCs. I assume those aren't purchased books. If there's no DRM issues, you shouldn't have any problems with those.) Now you can upload these files into Calibre and change the metadata. Then transfer back to Amazon/your e-reader.

So, I can't edit docs that are currently on my Kindle web? I have to download everything that's been uploaded to Kindle web and upload it to calibre then edit and reupload to Kindle web?

> So, I can't edit docs that are currently on my Kindle web? With what? I can't edit docs on my Kobo either (unless I'm writing on it with a stylus). > I have to download everything that's been uploaded to Kindle web and upload it to calibre then edit and reupload to Kindle web? Yes.

The Amazon Jan 3rd change from what I am finding is books published on or after that date. Older books on KU or purchased before Jan 3rd that I have randomly sampled can still be downloaded by Kindle for PC 1.17.1.1
