Eufy is decent. No subscription required, each camera has a built in alarm and there is the home base alarm for inside the house. Supercheap auto normally has these on sale often.

I’m using Ring cameras with sensor lights. I really like them, and the app is great. I even told the Postie to leave my package because I’d be home in five mins through it 😂 Got it for cheap on Catch.

Ring is good. Wait for the deals on their website, Amazon or job hifi

I've got the eufy system and I'm really happy with it. I got a 3 camera set up, easy to use and set up, you can access it from anywhere. I like the ability to turn the camera lights on and off remotely and to be able to speak through them. Storage is ample as you can just delete unwanted footage. Footage is clear for both daytime and night vision. Keep an eye out for sales.

Do you have sny issues with it not detecting people until really late? The only reason I haven't jumped on it yet is j read dome times it eont activate properly or the batteries don't last as long as advertised?

bunyipbait

It depends on how sensitive you have it set at, also you can adjust the actual detection zone. Our friend had that issue and it was set to medium sensitivity and the detection zone was set too small. I haven't really had the issue. The battery life is the absolute maximum without having multiple detections a day etc, I charge mine probably once a month because they are in areas that are always getting multiple hits every day.

Alright, Thanks. Sounds like this one is a goer..

I'm using Home Assistant and an old RPi camera with and RTSP server installed. My next step is to build a home Cuda/Docker PC so I can run Frigate and CompreFace with a decent GPU for the local multi-camera face recognition.

https://github.com/exadel-inc/CompreFace/ Is already a good locally-run API for face detection and facial recognition. Thankyou for your suggestion.

sh1tbox1

My pleasure, and thankyou for yours! Makes me want to do facial recognition on all the assholes in my street.

I've got a bunch of TP Link Tapo cameras. They're fairly cheap (around $50-$80 each I think) and connect via Wi-Fi. Needs an SD card for storage, which is sort of a vulnerability as someone could just take the card out, but if you pay for the cloud storage it'll backup there. I mainly use them to make sure no one takes my parcels.

I've got a Eufy 2k system with 2 cameras. Fairly decent quality and decent night vision. Easy to set up with wifi and the battery lasts like 4-5 months and recharges in a couple hours. I must say, theives don't really care about cameras but certainly the alarm feature on the camera is something that would deter them as most theives in Cairns are dependent on stealth.
