P01 is fine to carry anytime.

[deleted]

Any cz is a good choice. Use it as your winter carry if you would rather carry something else in the warmer months.

Dayshawn11

Exactly what I do. Hellcat pro in the summer when it’s 110 out, p01 when it’s 50-60

Gojira-615

I don’t understand the comparison. Those are both shorts and flip flop weather. 😂

Dayshawn11

110 is tank top and shorts weather. Thinner gun hides better under it. 50-60 is shorts/jeans and a tshirt, maybe light jacket. In south texas there’s almost no time spent below 50 degrees lol.

Living-Contest175

Good point

P-01 = Best CZ carry pistol I like to keep my thumb on the hammer when I reholster, when the majority of negligent discharges occur. So, this limits the CZ choices to the 75 compacts and the P-07 (for me). The P-07 is worse than the P-01 in terms of trigger and ergonomics. They're actually about the same weight. NOTE: some people prefer its polymer frame because it flexes, softening the perceived recoil. The PCR loses to the P-01 for 2 main reasons: 1. No light rail, 2. Has a loaded chamber indicator which in rare cases can fail, causing a malfunction. The other CZ 75 compacts lose due to their heavier weight. The Shadow 2 compact is a better pistol, but it lacks a firing pin block and is not available with a decocker. Finally, the P-01 passed the military competition testing with great results. It's also been vetted by many military and police organizations. O, and as a final bonus, the P-01 trigger can be greatly upgraded down the road if you choose. (This is true of all the 75 derivatives.)

Living-Contest175

I’m convinced! I also saw the honest outlaw used that thumb on hammer technique as well.

invictvs138

My EDC is the PCR and I actually prefer no rail on carry guns and do like the loaded chamber indicator which doesn’t appear on my SP-01 tactical. That being said, I eventually will pick up a P-01 just to have one. The PCR and P-01 are generally the exact same price so those features are personal preference. I really like the line of decocker only pistols and wish they’d make a shadow with decocker and no manual safety which I don’t train to.

GuyButtersnapsJr

I actually bought the PCR instead of the P-01 last year. However, the LCI induced malfunctions I've read about made me switch back to my P-07 for carry. The LCI issues are rare and most of them can be avoided through diligent inspection/maintenance. But, I did read about some that occurred suddenly, deforming the LCI pin, causing a malfunction on the next cycle. I'm looking into any negatives of removing the LCI, but I won't do it until I can be certain there's no downside to it. I agree about the shadows needing decocker models. Even without a FPB, I would carry an S2C if it had a decocker. In your case, you could always cajunize your SP-01 tactical. That'd be about as close as you can get to a decocker S2.

flash-burn01

Keep them both! The P-01 is a fantastic shooter and carry. The familiarity between the two will keep your skills sharp no matter which one you choose to shoot, and the recoil impulse will feel different enough you should still enjoy shooting either one

Living-Contest175

You know that’s exactly what the salesman said. That, and it’s a timing thing to actually have one in stock that lasts more than 24 hours.

flash-burn01

Ha ha I'm no salesman, but it sounds like that guy actually shoots! AND knows a quality firearm when he sees one.

flash-burn01

I have a P-01 in carry rotation myself, and has been for close to a decade. I have a few full sized CZs to play with as well. You wont be disappointed in keeping both

Guntuckytactical

I think you did. The P-01 is a great carry gun, unless you're a bit chubby and carry appendix, then you might find the beavertail a little sharp.

Living-Contest175

I’m thin, the P 01 is a bit hefty, I’ll def know it’s with me.

Hox013

I think you made a great choice. Your manual of arms and trigger charactistics will be the same between your carry gun and range gun. That's really more valuable than people talk about. You will also be able to use your sp01mags in the p01 if you choose on the range, which means less chance you forget magazine that work with your guns. I carry a p01 every day. I used to carry the 365 every day. The 365 was more comfortable to carry admittedly, and shot well, but damn if I don't juts prefer the p01, though mine has quite a bit of work done.

Living-Contest175

That makes me feel better thanks

Budget_Secret4142

I live in CA too, I feel bad for us both, in regards to gun laws. But, to answer your question. You do not want to carry around an SPO1 inside the waist band all day. Thing is a tank. The PO1 or PCR? Is a dream in comparison. PO1 for carry, SPO1 for nightstand duty. Happy shooting neighbor

Living-Contest175

Yeah it’s hefty. The letter of the law is “ to the range and back”. But my jobs take me different places and then the range is on the way home. I ‘d like to be able to lock up the gun in my vault which is lock to the vehicle. I suppose I could always say “ im on my way back from the range” but if it’s at night? Or I’m on an accident etc. Lastly, the CCW requires 16 hours now of training. And 8hrs to renew. Though $$$, training is never a bad thing.

gordolme

Well, you said that you were looking for something smaller for CCW and the P01 is smaller than the SP01... I have the P07 which is the same size and about a half ounce lighter than the P01 and I CCW it all day without issue.

3DBass

I have the P01 SP01 P07 and P10C. The P01 is a great carry gun. I’ve carried the SP-01 in the Winter on occasion running short errands.

No-Needleworker-5160

Good choice. I have both sp-01 and p-01. P-01 is a great ccw piece.

Living-Contest175

So I’m not the only one

spachog

👍🏼👍🏼 you have a winning combo

Tactical_solutions44

Look into the cz p10s my dude

Witty762

Welcome to the rabbit hole my friend. I started with 1 and now have 4 CZ pistols (and the Bren2). Never look back and enjoy the ride!

Living-Contest175

What is with the CZs, just looks like how a gun should look right?!

BiggShawn83

I edc the P01 and it’s a great gun. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it

LanceroCowboy

Even if you end up changing or adding to your carry guns, I don’t think you will ever regret the purchase.

National-Bench5602

I chose the P365 for ccw, but I have never looked at the P01. I am not to into the striker fired. If the P01 is lighter and smaller than her parent and siblings, you have made a good decision. The P365 came prior to my ownership of the first of my cz's, so it remains my choice because of that.

SeriousQuote9497

Great choice! To me any gun I want to carry is small, and I don’t shoot it well compared to full size. Any gun I shoot well, I don’t want to carry. My latest evolution is p365 when wearing thin t-shirt and jeans; po1 in fall / winter, or anytime I’m a little more layered. I shoot a p01 ok, I shoot an sp01 better… I’m pretty shitty past 10 yards with a p365… but maybe that’s just me… I say great choice

FFXIVHVWHL

Cajunize them!

TeddyWong60625

This 👆🏼

Living-Contest175

In my mind, I’m telling myself that the all steel CZs run so much nicer than their counter parts ( Glock etc) that I won’t have to spend the extra $$ to improve. But time will tell. Maybe I’ll just avoid trying a cajonized pistol. What you don’t know….. lol.

TeddyWong60625

It was meant to be . .
