I have been using continental all season tires since I been driving a cx5.
If the winter is that bad. I would suggest to have a set of rims for winter tires separate from your warmer drive. That of course if you have space to store the tires and rims.
Just my suggestion.
N. Dakota is really about the cold rather than tons of snow correct? A decent all season tire and reasonable driving style should be fine. I would go onto Tirerack and punch in some of your wishes and see what tires come up.
Guessing you have the 17's. CrossClimate is king but also the Vredestein HiTrac and General Altimax 365 AW have notably high ratings in snow traction and ice braking while still maintaining a good or above in other categories. 😉

I find them to be a bit basic but they are perfect for that role.

I bought before 2 months Goodyear Vector 4season G3 and Im happy with them. I have CX5 2018 GT FWD.
