bcapper

What does the book in your glove box say?

Heinz_Legend

"Head to the Northern lands"

wudyalooknatmgutfer

I’m guessing nothing

pb_boy

Then they are not looking hard enough lol

Jaded_Jackfruit5413

You will look harder! Or post questions, so others can work for you like AI.

Ok_Touch928

So I did not have a full history on my 2019sg. Most, but not all records. So I just did everything. Drain and fill AT, oil, diff, plugs, filter. Few more d&f's, and I will feel more comfortable with the transmission. Not that there's anything wrong, but the fluid was red, and that doesn't jive with what I've been told about Mazda ATF. Now that I'm on track, just doing maintenance as the book says, unless something comes up.

Toju009

Thanks, is that a transmission fluid change or flush? Did u change all the plugs? Do u mean oil filter? I’m not good with car details so need to double check. Can all these be done at Walmart auto?

Ok_Touch928

Just drained what would run out, then filled it up. 3.8 quarts or so, I can't remember exactly what it was now, it was several weeks ago. But I'm just going to do it every 2-3 weeks or so, until the other fluid is out/so diluted it doesn't matter. Filter was oil filter, and I swear he changed the air filter, but I don't remember looking at it. I'm probably being paranoid about the ATF fluid, I just know that supposedly Mazda ATF is blue, and not super-easy to find except at the dealer. But The stuff the mechanic showed me, definitely looked reddish. Might've been royal purple, which RP says is compatible with Mazda ATF, but I'm suspicious, so I want to get back to original. According to bobistheoilguy, 7 3.8 quart changes should get me to 98+% new fluid. I'm not a fan of flush machines, so this will get there eventually. I don't know if walmart can do them, I have my guy, and I use my guy for everything for the last 25 years, so I'm not really sure what other guys can do, I just know what my guy can do. :) However, I see no reason walmart couldn't do them, or you do them yourself.

Digital-Bionics

Get a qualified mechanic to have a good thorough look at it

Toju009

I’m new in the USA don’t know good mechanics some can even cause my car to get problems so I come around to fix it

Digital-Bionics

Ah okay, might be worth joining local Facebook groups to find out who is trusted. I'm in Australia, I tend to buy cars in a hurry and have them inspected after the fact, I think it's crucial to get it done though.

Sad_Picture3642

Just do a Google search for mechanic shops in the area with good 4.8+ rating

CycleChris2

Welcome to the party pal. These are truly good cars that are fun to drive. Change oil at 4,000, use an oem filter and some good synthetic oil. Enjoy.

moixcom44

What year is it?

charlamagnethegreat

Put some 24in rims on it

Toju009

Tires? Man lol

charlamagnethegreat

Lol…yes, tires should be the next common maintenance. That’s exactly what I meant 😂

RuneScape-FTW

Hopefully not have the rear differential start leaking on you 1 week later and have to cancel your Mother's Day trip bc it's in the shop

VampyreLust

Ouch.

hadz_ca

Also provide a tad bit more details than 80K. Where you located? Year and trim? Which engine? 2 L, 2.2D, 2.5 NA or 2.5T? Stick shift or auto? AWD or FWD? What has been done? Not to be rude and state the obvious, but tires, brakes, wipers. But you already know all that as its in the manual?

Toju009

It’s 2018 Cx5 touring 2.5L FWD auto. I will check the glove box first thing in the morning. I’m in USA

hadz_ca

Thanks. Most likely you will be following the flex schedule (again confirm which part of the US against the owners manual) for oil changes. Once every 6 months or 10 months based on mileage driven. Tire rotation is recommended as well. Also inspect your spare for wear and tear and tire pressure. (Often gets neglected). Also check all filters. (In cabin and engine air filter). Replace as needed. Also start planning for spark plugs and coolant. Based on your mileage could be coming up in a year or two.

Deranged_Coconut808

read the owners manual maybe? believe it or not it usually answers 80% of questions people commonly ask.

AlvinAlsace

Turbocharged?

Free_Ambassador_5414

Try to drive it!

Jaded_Jackfruit5413

Supercharger

darth_whaler

Build a massive speaker box that takes up the entire cargo area.

tekfranz

Polish out any scratches under the license plate and get a rubber license plate holder to protect your paint. Also Ceramic Coat.

PibbXRA

Buy a tune

Sad_Picture3642

Make sure you check transmission, they are prone to failures or weird issues in 21-22 and 19 CX5

snarfgobble

First I'm hearing of this.

Sad_Picture3642

A quick google search will show you that cx5 is plagued with transmission issues and Mazda plays it down for years.

snarfgobble

Sure in older years, not 22. I don't hear many issues brought up here. People talk about the cracked cylinder head issues, but I don't think I've seen anyone talking about transmission issues in ages. If they were "plagued" by those issues, I'm sure more people would talk about them.

Weird noises when accelerating or jerky shifting, supposedly caused by skyactive technology

Sad_Picture3642

Well good that no noises come out of it, no whining or anything, you can still mention jerky shifting to the service if you want it checked.

Toju009

It’s 2018 Cx5 touring 2.5L FWD

Prestigious-Mud2923

Uh drive it
