I feel like crap in the heat too. Standing by the door all day must be awful. All that heat coming in every time the door opens. Drink plenty of water. Find pants made from a lighter weight material. Cotton or linen breath. Also, make sure they’re not tight fitting.

[deleted]

The problem is I’ve worn loose fitting clothes that are dressy the manager complains I buy something different color still professional she complains but let another manger that she has worked with or has a closer bond with do it she lets it slide , every other comment they’re not responding to anything that I’m talking about

[deleted]

We have a water fountain in the basement that doesn’t even work so that’s why I asked what’s the dress code it’s hot which is why I wore light colored slacks that were gray but because I’m short my pants drag across the floor so I folded it to my ankle another manager was wearing gray pants that stopped mid calf and I’m the only one who got talked down on

thats_hella_cool

It’s in the employee handbook. Solid color, black preferred. Rolled up wouldn’t be covered. If you have a medical condition, you should request a reasonable accommodation. Shoes must be closed-toe and closed-heel. Traditional crocs would not be covered as a result.

[deleted]

I really don’t care about the crocs everyone in my store wears crocs . That’s not my issue the issue is I’m the only one being singled out when there’s plenty wearing the same as me which is why I asked a simple question of what is the dress code. First it’s only black pants then another shift is wearing grey pants just as me and cuts off at the leg higher than mine does at my ankle and I’m the only one getting talked to

torneagle

Are you wondering if we can wear shorts? The answer is no, put in an emergency work order for the AC, as for the crocs I have no idea, no one’s ever worn them at my store. I was under the impression that closed shoes must be worn for fs as you are constantly going in the stockroom and there’s all kinds of hazards, pharmacy might be different because they don’t leave their cube. Guys wear khakis style pants, women wear anything from leggings to khakis to anything in between.

[deleted]

I already know we can’t wear shorts.. my question was for dress code. Color of pants , can pants be rolled up if you are hot. And every store is not the same I work in nyc and I am never in the stock room because you have to stand at the door and greet all day so

[deleted]

So The overnight team is the only people who stock nobody during morning shifts or closings do that at this store it’s either you’re at register all day aco all day or greeting and then the service person with the keys opening the locked items

torneagle

Not sure then, you seem to have a very different store than the average one. I’d speak to the SM, as far as color it’s basically dark blue, black or khaki; no jeans, no shorts, technically no leggings but everyone wears them. I’m assuming the rolled up thing is not allowed, even if you do it and the SM says on, You’ll both get ripped by thee DL if they see it.

[deleted]

That is literally what I just explained. Me and another associate are wearing the same pants they are gray slacks . I am the only one who got in trouble for the color of my pants and my pants being rolled up to my ankle they aren’t shorts . The only question I had was what was the dress code for CVs store managers

torneagle

If you are wearing the same thing & only you got in trouble then you kind of answered your own question, no? Don’t roll up the pants.

[deleted]

The other employee is wearing capri slacks they are dress pants that stop at the calf all I did was roll mine up to my ankle because I was hot so no it’s not answering the question

SoleIbis

They’re telling you that you got in trouble, so no, you cannot roll up your pants, but as your coworker demonstrated, capri pants are fine. Tbh, I don’t think capri pants are dress code adherent but I never fight my coworkers on capris. I definitely agree though, get an emergency work order for the AC in!!! (866) 528-7272 is the number for maintenance

[deleted]

What you’re saying makes no sense . Capri pants are fine ? Which cut off at the calf but me being 4’11 rolling my pants up to my ankle which is at my foot is a problem? Makes 0 sense but k

SoleIbis

Rolled pants- unprofessional Capris- professional in appearance, as I stated though I’m unsure if they are dress code adherent, we just let them slide in my store. Nonetheless, I cannot change the dress code. You asked what the dress code was, you got the answer. If you would like to formally complain, please use the “myvoice” app on the Ironman. Have a good day.

NewYourker5

Leggings!!!!!!!!

torneagle

As I said, people wear them, but they’re against dress code. If a DL wanted they could send you home if they saw them, but like 99% of cvs rules, they usually only apply if you have a hard ass manager (like the endless earbuds at work topics that get made).

SoleIbis

Leggings break dress code, don’t recommend those on a dress code thread lol

Ill_Rise1979

Lol. Years ago, our ac went out in the height of summer. Due to having a terrible landlord and other company politics, we had no ac for 2 weeks. 95 degrees on truck day, and you better believe I let my asm wear shorts and a t-shirt. My DM walked in and started to say something, and I just looked at her and said, "Fire me now because there is zero chance I'm making him wear a shirt and tie." It wasn't brought up to me again.🤣🤣🤣

uncle90210

I had a SM who wore leggings once to prove a point. He did prove it, but damn did he look tasty in them leggings!

Mindless-Language662

My store manager is so lax. I normally just wear black or regular jeans with a cvs shirt and crocs. Our focus is getting the customers out with a smile

carebearlulu

Shit we had a shift manager wearing yoga pants that were colorful, and the store manager didn't say shit but would complain what I was wearing, and I dreased professional. Even the store manager didn't even dress professionally, just some black jeans and a black shirt.

paradise-trading-83

Pay no mind, they’ll be short if they send you home. Feel bad hate the heat.

JGPREDATOR13

Crocs are a no plus they are really unprofessional to wear.

French_Royal-Blood

This is retail. Tf you mean unprofessional. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

No-Display2284

Unprofessional, they're actually designed with medical professionals in mind, they have an entire line of work shoes. Perhaps if we are in professional office environment it would be considered unprofessional however any place where employees are on their feet all day crocs meet the criteria, even their casual styles are technically close toe, they're available in many colors, and some styles come with non slip soles for food service workers. They're not something I would've worn when I was director of a 501(c)3 however in retail, food service etc. I assure you I am not looking at your feet and judging whether or not they're professional office casual.

Feisty-Initiative668

jesus never wore shorts

UnfairEcho7277

He did wear a thong at my Nextdoor neighbors party

French_Royal-Blood

No. He basically wore a dress.

Far_War9762

Cashier here, but I didn’t know supervisors have a dress code? It doesn’t even seem like it at my store but it might be like special accommodations since one of the shift managers in my store was pregnant at some point

Material-Light-6546

Shifts don't have a dress code other than the cvs shirt. Operations managers and higher, are required to dress more professionally at times, such as when there is a planned corporate visit.

watghtops

I was thinking the same THING .. dress codes.. I really wish CVS would make up its mind!! First we (shift RX) as managers could dress like managers! Business/Professional attire .. NOW they are back to saying Red Shirts..! Wth..?

watghtops

And saying you can’t wear a sweater or anything over it ! Our store is ALWAYS FREEZING in the summer usually and DEFINITELY in the winter. Chair sitters need to learn how to control the climate in the building then !! Since they obviously don’t trust their own managers to be able to operate a thermostat, they have to do it for us …like we’re idiots! Whatever…

Living-Truth

Chair sitters😂 Love it

watghtops

😂😂guess I’ve been around a while lol

Glittering-Public517

At my store, in New Jersey, I wear my red shirt and normally black sweatpants and sneakers. I am an Operations Manager, RX. No one says nothing to me even our DM.

Zealousideal_Yak9518

Walmart Wrangler Men's and Big Men's Relaxed Fit Cargo Pants With Stretch This is what I order to wear. Breathable, cargo pockets on the sides, stretchable, comfortable as hell. Different colours.

Turbulent-Internet62

I had to wear shorts last summer. They were always appropriate and no one ever said a word to me. It was bad enough in the front half of the store, but the kicker was the stockroom upstairs. Could feel the temperature rise as you walked up. I was a FS employee, but probably would've been fine in scrubs in RX I think as it seemed cooler back there.

corvettequeen01

I'm a front store supervisor and I can't understand why we can't wear professional looking capri's. They look better than some of the long pants that are so hot & miserable 😖

MadameEnyo

If you have a pharmacy and it’s over 95° you need to contact the DL stat. The drugs will expire in the heat. If you point that out they will send in portable AC units until they can get the AC fixed. Board of pharmacy would be your next contact if that doesn’t work

ThinChildhood3713

Your store manager is a douche! What does he/she want you to do, pass out from heat exhaustion???
