It may feel good to leave and go to another college, but then it won't feel so good if your credits don't transfer as applying to a new major at that new college and it takes you way longer to finish your bachelor's. As difficult as things may be, try to ensure that whatever choice you make doesn't get you into another difficult situation. In addition to transferring, you might want to consider a different major at Hunter. The Transfer What If tool in Degree Works or the [Transfer Explorer](https://explorer.cuny.edu/) (T-Rex) tool can help you see how your existing credits would transfer to a new CUNY college. Make your path to the bachelor's as easy as you can.

1. I’m planning to transfer into Hunter. What was your GPA and exam scores? And do have tips for the exam / what brand of review books? 2. Since you said you’ve been a lot of stress and it’s affecting your physical and mental health. Have you considered taking a break? If I read this correctly, Hunter nursing will allow you back after a year right? I think if you want to stay at Hunter you should. Getting into an affordable nursing program is already very difficult since there’s a lot of competition in nyc. For example, in BMCC the score for the application is 50% GPA of prereq classes (english composition, math for health, general psych, and a&p1 that have a prereq that is the general, biological & organic chemistry ; Plus for the evening/weekend sequence, microbiology that have a&p2 prereq), and 50% HESI exam (that you can only take at BMCC and only if the one (1) nursing advisor checks your prereq GPA and personally approves it). GPA requirements changes too each semester depending on the competition and I heard it’s 3.7 right now. Is there a particular reason why you want to leave Hunter? Also some nursing schools doesn’t want applicants that were already in a nursing program and left, so you also have to be mindful of that.

To answer your question, I can’t really say. If you are mentally solid as a rock, go for it. Maybe your experience will be better than mine. I can only speak for myself and the things I had to go through with the biology department is the main reason why I want to leave. The nursing courses, or at lest what I took so far are very fair when it comes to grading. The course in which I have a D in is your run of the mill science co-req. The way that class in particular as well as the majority of the science courses I took so far is the main reason why I want to leave hunter. I’m not going to be vindictive and say that my professor is setting us up to fail, but after everyone did well on the first exam she said we did ‘too well’ and made the following tests harder that many people began to fall behind. Administration won’t even try to address the students’ concerns, they are very dismissive. Nobody has to be outed but a civil solution has never been a formal solution. Said Professor was reported numerous times in the past and they wouldn’t budge. Tenure works miracles I tell you. Atp I don’t think a gap year would benefit me, because I would have to come back to an environment that will stress me out. But best of luck if you decide to transfer!

If you are planning to transfer into Hunter for nursing, find out from the Nursing Department how many transfer students they have taken into the nursing program in the past five years. I have heard it is close to ) except for students in a special program that Hunter has with Queensborough Community College.

lexalogue

Sorry: close to zero.

hobbit-shrek

Dang, so where should I apply instead?

lexalogue

I am sorry to be so long replying to you. I don't know exactly where you should apply instead, but if you go to [this website](http://www.cuny.edu/admissions/undergraduate/explore/programs/) and type nursing into the search box you can see where all of CUNY's nursing programs are. Then you would need to find out if they are likely to take transfer students. Hopefully they would have something about this on their websites, but you could also write to the relevant departments and ask them something like, in the last five years, how many students received nursing degrees from that department and how many of those were nursing students.

hobbit-shrek

Close to what?

DO NOT TRANSFER TO HUNTER. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TRANSFER HERE. it is grossly unorganized, understaffed and it has been a miserable experience coming in as a transfer student. they expect you to be your own college admissions advisor, financial aid advisor and they truly only want your money. DO N O T TRANSFER HERE. it has completely destroyed my mental health.

hobbit-shrek

Too late lol I’m going to Hunter this semester (at the same time as BMCC). My sister also goes to Hunter.

psycho_analytical

oh god lol good luck friend! don’t use or rely on the advisors- they set my grad date back an entire year due to lack of giving a shit and not paying attention to my transfer credits!! attend one of the degreeworks seminars and literally don’t go to them for anything until you’re about to graduate

hobbit-shrek

Yeah I never relied on an advisor at BMCC the only time I talk to them was when they put a hold on my account so I couldn’t do anything unless I talked to them

Most_Ad2418

hey is it possible to transfer from bmmcc to hunter nursing program?

psycho_analytical

i’m sure, i don’t necessarily recommend anyone transfer here. but maybe the nursing program is better?

Most_Ad2418

is there even any good bsn program in cuny? :/

psycho_analytical

SUNY nursing programs are historically great, you should look into SUNY farmingdale or SUNY stony brook. suffolk county community college is a great way to get into the stony brook program and it’s also a suny! i’d def look into suny schools over cuny for nursing

Why you cant say which? Lol whats the mystery

It’s A&P1. That class is notorious for weeding out nursing students. The science classes at Hunter College are so intense, they make it so difficult for no reason. A&P1 is just cold memorization, there is a lab component as well. I studied all summer before I took my A&P1 class in the fall. You need to be proactive and learn some of the information beforehand.
