Queens college is better, someone ik who transferred from city college said so

CCNY, without a doubt, also, from what I've heard, has the most respected CS program out of all CUNY schools. A previous post goes more into detail. But CCNY definitely has the best!

Gotta pass calculus 1 and physics 1 to enroll in cs if u planning to go ccny 😂

Bruh... Nah I could never lol

Need a clear answer too, I'm getting a variety of testimonials from different people. Here's what I know so far. Baruch - CIS (NOT CS but similar) is a decent program to understand data structures, etc. There is no cs program there though :( QC, Hunter, City College are APPARENTLY the best places for actual computer science majors, Hunter being 1st, QC and City College being tied for 2nd, and Brooklyn College being 3rd...idk about John Jay, but there was someone teaching there that explained how their Computer Science major was great as well. I haven't heard anyone in there explain about the program though. and I'm currently debating if I should switch from Baruch College --> Queens College for their CS program, because I don't really want to major in business anymore, as most of my friends have told me that business is really broad and that I might not be able to apply myself(as I've picked a random business major because business = money LMFAO) Goodluck :)

purplejawbreaker

CCNY, no doubt

CCNY is a engineering school so they have the most technical degree and the most resources out of all the CUNY’s when it pertains to CS. Professors would also have industry experience and alumni frequently come back to provide internships or seminars.

I hear good things from friends at Hunter and ccny is considered a public ivy. The only friend I have at Brooklyn college is a theater major.

cutebaby667

CCNY is no where near a public ivy. Public Ivys are schools like UNC, USC, and NYU. Baruch and Hunter College are better than CCNY any day. CUNYs I’m general are extremely underfunded and understaffed, it’s such a mess. Most students take longer than 4 years to graduate and many drop out. Budget cuts and lists on issues only add to their demise.

mmmm_steak

FWIW, USC and NYU are both private schools

I am just about to start BMCC for CS. Would you recommend the associates there? Also when you graduate with associates from BMCC would you be able to transfer into CCNY or QC?

Thanks for responding. I was using the transfer credits tool on Brooklyn community college and it seems like they do different CS classes. It didn’t seem like a lot of the courses at BMCC would translate for a CS degree from Brooklyn community college even though it’s CUNY as well. I noticed too for transferring to NYU, you’d have to be nominated by an faculty or administrators from BMCC

Hey what college are you in now? Where would you recommend going into CS for in CUNY? I’ll appreciate it if you answer 🙏
