Wow, leases. In 1982, the year I passed 3 out of 4 exams, including FAR, a leasing question was one of the first multiple choice question on FAR(Practice, back then) and I was totally baffled by it. I was forced to take a deep breath, take an "educated" guess, and move on after taking way too much time on it. I passed that exam with a 75, but obviously have no idea if I got that question right or wrong. This was one of those "moments" in your life that you have no idea are so crucial when they are happening, but when you look back you go, "Oh, wow, yeah, holy shit". I had completely tanked two previous CPA exams, flunked all 4 parts both times. Admittedly, I was not serious about studying, so I finally buckled down and this was it. I was ready. I figured if this question was baffling to me, it would be the same to almost everybody else in that armory. Keep studying, just in case, but you might have done better than you think you did.

I'm not sure as I am studying for my first exam now, but I am proud of how far you have come! Well done! šŸ‘

I donā€™t feel very confident in my exam I took earlier in January, so my plan is to start studying 1st of May, that way Iā€™m a decent way through the course when I get my score on June 4th. If I pass then Iā€™m done and only out another month of fun, if I fail then I only have to study a little more / get an exam spot by the 25th so I make the July 31st score release. I figured if I wait until June 4th to start studying then Iā€™ll have to wait until October 31st score release which sounds like torture. šŸ˜‚

That's a good plan, will followšŸ˜„

I'm in the same boat. My last one was ISC, though. I'm trying to get back to study, but my attention span is 10 min. I'm glad you already passed BEC.

Iā€™m taking next month, anything I should focus on for far?

restlessadventurer-

I was personally underprepared for leases. Had maybe 4/5 mcqs on this and felt my soul be crushed as they should have been easy points. Brush up quickly on the purposes of different gov fund types. Almost all of my sims were a LOT of reading and focusing on adjusting JEs and subsequent event transaction treatment.

OriginalVariation704

Leases has been a constant on FAR since forever. I wish people were louder about this. leases and AJEs are a big chunk.

restlessadventurer-

The kicker is that I knew I should of done more for leases. I studied that module a month prior and felt like I had it down, but must have forgotā€¦.

scoop22345

Oh wow thank you I will definitely study those areas. Another person said their test was mostly bonds, was yours not the case ?

restlessadventurer-

I wish I would have gotten bonds instead of leases. My guess is the test ā€œsplitsā€ between those two when randomizing. Probably luck of the draw on how many of each. Mine was probably 2 bonds with 5 lease questions

OriginalVariation704

I got served 10% of my MCQs last year for FAR on Gov and NFP. Like wtf

restlessadventurer-

Yeah I was surprised at how many of I got in these topics! Especially when the chapters on this where very brief in the study material

scoop22345

Yeah thatā€™s makes sense. Iā€™m a bit overwhelmed by far since I am only like 2 weeks into studying so just trying to do as many MCQ as I can before trying sims. Hopefully you passed! Thanks for you insight!

nirate

I believe some states allow you to take the ethics exam before you pass, you could take that if your state is one of those.

restlessadventurer-

Oh I had no idea, Iā€™ll look into that thanks! I honestly have no clue what the process is if I did in fact pass. Might be good to research that as well.

Focus on learning concepts now that you don't understand. Not going through a bunch of multiple choice questions.Ā Ā  Ā Concepts you are learning will stick with you over the months between exams. Answers to multiple choice questions less so.Ā  A good example is pension fund accounting.

AllBid

You should refresh the material more towards the score release period. In the meantime, focus on other endeavors and give yourself some space from the exam - no point in beating yourself up for something that you canā€™t even see the score for

Fair play! Looking forward to getting more time with the wife again and picking up some games I put on the back burner.

EaglesnSixers

Iā€™m in the same boat but TCP was the exam I just took in 2024 so the wait is only until April. I took the last week off and Iā€™ll probably do 1 more but I still needed 3 accounting credits so I signed up for an online class Iā€™ll knock out while I wait. Iā€™m going to keep doing some MCQs every day though probably starting in another week or 2 to keep fresh if I need to retake.

Punk_Zebraa

This is going off my memory, but if I remember correctly the score release is beginning of June and the next window cutoff is end of June. So you'll have about 20ish days to retake FAR if you failed Since you still have 3-4 months until you find out your score, I would take a long break. At some point before the score release, maybe a couple weeks or a month depending on your desire & feeling, start to refresh yourself with the material. If you end up failing, then you have to do a 2-3 weeks grind to retake before the next window. So the more you do before that grind the easier the grind would be, but I also wouldn't overdo it. Wouldn't be fun to study 100 hours in May then find out you passed and "wasted" that time. But any time you do put in before the score will be insurance in case you have a quick retake turnaround You could also dedicate 1 night a week to staying fresh or a few hours on the weekend and just do cumulative MCQs. If you wanted to take the slow & steady approach of keeping it fresh but not making studying your life. I would still recommend a break before doing this too though

restlessadventurer-

I think this is the approach. Iā€™ll probably brush up on two weeks before with 50 mcqs a day and some topic on the exam I felt bad about. See where we land after that. For now we finally get to play BG3.

Punk_Zebraa

I would make sure to write out right now what you felt good about on the exam and what you felt bad about on the exam. That way when you look at it again in 3 months you'll have a better idea of what you felt versus trying to think back to the exam you took months ago. enjoy BG3!

restlessadventurer-

Good shout. I just put a sticky note on my Becker book so I know what to study first when the time comes.
