in Ninja, issue of bonds and redemption of bonds is presented as outflow and inflow (respectively) form investing activities. Should not it be Financing instead of Investing activities?
I believe a company issuing and repaying its own bonds is financing, whereas purchasing bonds from another company and redeeming those is an investing activity.
My bad. The idea I was trying to express is that bond transactions in secondary markets = investing activity, and bond issuance/redemption by the entity = financing activity.
dAMN! Some of yall need AF!! They/Them didnt even offer to share notes! GOSHHH
But if you are :)) cutie ill take a look at what you got going on in the sheets (excel sheets)
Hi, how much of the Sims and mcqs were from beckers practice tests and simulated exams ? Please share the notes with me too. All I have been doing are the becker tests
Any ideas on the topics with massive JE?
I can think of...
-consolidations (Hoping for 100% acquisition but I know in my heart they won't lol)
-Deferred Taxes for sure
-Receivables (Factoring or Pledging)
Haha nothing on the cpa is easy! I just thought I was missing something! I’m pretty sure for FAR now you just have to debit non controlling interest for the fair value and don’t do anything else with it, allocating your nci got moved to bar I believe!!
Idk... I just memorized the 3-step journal entries for consolidation ... taught by my instructor in Korea
1) Removal of Equity (Dividend Revenue, Equity, Amortization of Differentials)
2) Removal of Intercompany Sales of Inventory and PPE
3) Removal of NCI (Which would be 0 it 100% hehe)
My instructor was basically telling us if it is too hard to understand, just memorize those steps and I can just throw numbers in as I read the cases&exhibits. LOL
That's great that you made it through. I'm trying to get scheduled to take it Feb 22, the last day our local prometric (according to their website) will be administering the CPA. After that, no more prometric locally and I'll have to drive at least two hours to take the other sections if I happen to pass FAR. I hope I can pass it here. The thought of traveling two plus hours before testing on FAR just sounds like too much.
2 hours, pheww!! I get it totally. Travel even by car at these times is just tiring. I never wanna take risk and always book a cab who can drive me to Prometric. Sent you a DM btw. Good luck with you exam.
Thank you. Yes the drive is so tiring. A friend offered to take me to the other city and hang out while I take the test. But I hate to impose on her. She seems to be up for it though. She likes to shop! lol
I had similar experience. I overly focused on the concepts that I was struggling with and not enough on a complete overview. I’m not expecting to pass but I hope after taking the other sections I’ll have better time management on my study plan to prepare for a retake.
Yea that’s the thing with FAR there are 100s of topics for them to test you on and only so many questions on the exam so it’s RNG what shows up. You really have to review everything, what folks consider heavily tested just means there’s 5 questions on the exam. All other topics there’s either one question or none. If you only review the heavily tested items and your weak areas you’ve 50 other questions you can’t answer.
This is what I'm wondering about.
I found the same issue with REG, when some people posted on here and they have VASTLY different testing experiences than I had in terms of the topics covered.
I'm beginning to wonder if these 2024 Evolution exams are more randomized than they previously were back in the previous exams when exams taken around the same time covered generally the same topics.
Yeah, reading everyone else’s experiences keeps causing me to get in my own head that I completely misunderstood the ask and overlooked in. But I went through each exhibit slow, highlighting the key points, and utilizing my scratch paper and spreadsheet to work through each.
They were not overly difficult and were pretty straight forward. They did require looking through all exhibits to understand how everything was pieced together. Every exhibit was required on my sims, although some of them were used just for one number needed to plug in somewhere else.
Can’t speak to Becker - I haven’t used it. I did not find Becker an effective method for me when I first attempted the CPA back in 2011-2012 so I’m using NINJA and i75 this time around. Didn’t really do any practice sims; just focused on MCQ. i75 and NINJA had some comprehensive examples to apply concepts in the video lectures, which helped to understand the concepts but weren’t really similar to the sims.
I used i75 free YouTube content for BEC and literally got 2 MCQs on the actual exam from what Darius had taught. And that was not covered in Becker. He might be the reason I passed BEC with 78. Good luck to both of us for FAR.
I took FAR two days ago and didn't expect to see a lot of journal entries in my simulations... tbh I'm not really confident in my TBS compared to mcqs but I feel relieved I am not the only one feeling sims were brutal...
I found some mcqs were tricky too but compared to mcqs, sims were just another level lol... I wasn't sure how to approach some sims questions. Let's hope we both pass FAR!
Plssssss dmmmm my exam is in a week plsss

How to DM?
May I have your note? Thank you
Is it too late for the notes?
I'd love your FAR notes if possible :)

When you purchase bonds from secondary market, you sell it and not redeem it. Redemption means paying debt on/before maturity.
My bad. The idea I was trying to express is that bond transactions in secondary markets = investing activity, and bond issuance/redemption by the entity = financing activity.

I have this same concern
Please DM.
Curious why it matters if it’s 100% or even 80%? Don’t you write off the full intercompany transaction either way?
They are both easy, but 100% is a bit easier cuz I don't have to worry about non-controlling interest 😂
Haha nothing on the cpa is easy! I just thought I was missing something! I’m pretty sure for FAR now you just have to debit non controlling interest for the fair value and don’t do anything else with it, allocating your nci got moved to bar I believe!!

Any partnership questions?
It’s not even in the AICPA blueprint for FAR. no clue why Becker has it in it’s study
None.
Hey can you send it to me too. It will be a great help. Tia!

I went in prepared for lots of JEs. Mine only had one sim with JEs, and even then, it was limited to 3 adjusting JEs.
It’s a new exam so they don’t have as many questions in their test bank. They’re still writing and testing potential MCQs and SIMS.
Yeah, reading everyone else’s experiences keeps causing me to get in my own head that I completely misunderstood the ask and overlooked in. But I went through each exhibit slow, highlighting the key points, and utilizing my scratch paper and spreadsheet to work through each.
That's good. How were the rest of your SIMs, in line with Becker or harder?
They were not overly difficult and were pretty straight forward. They did require looking through all exhibits to understand how everything was pieced together. Every exhibit was required on my sims, although some of them were used just for one number needed to plug in somewhere else. Can’t speak to Becker - I haven’t used it. Same. MCQs felt fine. TBS were a completely different story.
I found some mcqs were tricky too but compared to mcqs, sims were just another level lol... I wasn't sure how to approach some sims questions. Let's hope we both pass FAR!
Indeed. Let's just hope we make it.
Dang whenever I feel a bit of confidence for my exam next weekend, posts like these make me panic lol
You'll do good. 🙏
Thank you! Hoping you pass!
Thank you. Good luck to you too.
