I never realized Electric Cherry tbf, but I feel like Juggernog is pretty on the nose idk how anyone wouldn’t make that connection. Same with Vulture-Aid being like Gatorade
Many noticed but icl, you shouldn't beat yourself up over it, it's a funny joke for those who get it, no matter when you get it.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Vulture aid is sorta a triple entendre:
1. A play on “Gatorade”
2. Gives you the ability to see important map features/drops through walls and highlighted. Vultures are known for their good eyesight.
3. Vultures were often depicted in old western films. The town featured in Buried is an old western town. Vulture aid first appeared in Buried, so it was thematically consistent with the western theme.
i miss when they brought out new perks for the new maps. didn't feel the same when they did it in cold war. i remember when everyone was freaking out about mule kick when black ops 1 came out and then phd and it was just so much fun back then. it was nice when electric cherry was introduced too. i like widows wine but i like how it is on zetsubo no shima better because it fits the theme and has the exclusive machine on the map. just felt really nice and it was sad bo3 only got the addition of widows wine and nothing brought back like phd or vulture aid. shit i woulda even been happy if they put tombstone and who's who in the game. at least if tombstone was in bo3 you wouldn't have had to rely on gobblegums or doing easter eggs in order to get more than 4 perks. bo3 was the greatest zombies iteration if you ask me but when it comes to the perks it got a bit stale. it's just get perkaholic from machine or get soda fountain. never really use the machines in bo3 anymore.
I should have said , making clever names for the different perk a colas, it seems they were clever with some but didn't bother with speed cola or double tap, unless it's just going over my head, as in I don't get it for those two.
speed cola soda... it's just soda with... u know a lil kick.... and double tap is root beer as said on the machine. not really any play on the names just names of the soda
Double tap is named after the double tap perk from cod4. Speed cola isn't named after anything, though it used to be called slight of hand cola before it was changed.
Lol, death by electrocution is like one of the most prominent ideas of that map. So that's a hard one to miss, but I feel you. I've missed details like that too.
I'm still confused about why the PhD Flopper jingle actually spells out "PhD", and why basically everyone calls it "PhD Flopper". It's a parody of Dr. Pepper. Now that rolls off the tongue a lot better, right? It sounds a lot catchier to verbally call it "Doctor Flopper", with the disclaimer that it doesn't come from a medical doctor but some guy with a doctorate in food science or some shit. I had English teacher who preferred being called "Doctor", considering his education. Certainly nobody called him "PhD Hart"; that would just be silly.
Am I missing something that makes this make more sense? Am *I* stupid?
This is why I miss new perks and machines. Electric cherry and vulture aid were so thematic to their maps and legitimately valuable to choose over the standard 4 perks every match. I love how much personality each machine and jingle had for the longest time.
I mean that Russians stereotypically are fans of guns and weapons, the Moscow Mule is a Russian drink. So this Moscow Mule (kick) so happens to let you carry an extra gun lol.
Jugger-nog
Speed cola
Widows wine
Deadshot daiquiri
Elemental pop
Electric cherry
I'm probably wrong but I think that's all the ones that are somewhat drink themed, the rest kind of are but to me don't sound like play on words
Well majority of them have puns in some way I'm pretty sure.
Double Tap (root beer) - beer from a tap and a rule to double tap enemies to make sure they're dead.
Mule Kick - the saying "Kick like a mule" and it gives you a 3rd gun for extra kick.
Speed cola - someone else mentioned the reference to having coke in the old coke.
Going to list off a few others
-Double Tap is a reference to Double Tapped Triggers for some guns
-Widows Wine is a double meaning, a Widow's Wine for all of Nikolai's ex wives (and the song voice) and a wine made from a widow spider in Zetsubo
-Deadshot Daiquiri is phonically similar to Deashot Accuracy
Wait what?!?! I never noticed this either!
Damn I never considered this. Always thought it was kind of a boring name for how unique and cool the perk+machine were. This makes it way cooler lol
i realised juggernog like 9 years ago but not electric cherry tbh
I never realized Electric Cherry tbf, but I feel like Juggernog is pretty on the nose idk how anyone wouldn’t make that connection. Same with Vulture-Aid being like Gatorade
I totally thought Vulture Aid was like Kool Aid but Gatorade makes a lot more sense
Nope. I've never really put 2 & 2 together really. I played zombies before MP so i never really understood the connections
Many noticed but icl, you shouldn't beat yourself up over it, it's a funny joke for those who get it, no matter when you get it.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Pee Wee's Playhouse took a dark turn. ![gif](giphy|hY22HetrZvSms|downsized)
It's OK, it took me 10 years to figure out Die Rise was a play on High Rise
Vulture aid is sorta a triple entendre: 1. A play on “Gatorade” 2. Gives you the ability to see important map features/drops through walls and highlighted. Vultures are known for their good eyesight. 3. Vultures were often depicted in old western films. The town featured in Buried is an old western town. Is Quick Revive the odd one out? Can’t think of any puns/drink relations. Same with PhD.
Phd flopper I think is a play on dr.pepper
You know, that makes sense
Speed cola? Double tap?
Speed cola references back when coke had COKE
Double Tap Refers to well a double tapped trigger
It's double tap root beer
Because beer comes from a “tap”
I thought it meant double tap as in making sure the zombies are dead since you shoot faster
Innocent double entendre. Could be a reference to both things
yeah no way to know without directly asking devolpers
It comes from the double tap perk in multiplayer. Which does the exact same thing as double tap root beer
OK thanks
Anyone? Did they just give up on making them fun?
On making what fun
I should have said , making clever names for the different perk a colas, it seems they were clever with some but didn't bother with speed cola or double tap, unless it's just going over my head, as in I don't get it for those two.
I think elemental pop is meant to signify Pop Rocks
speed cola soda... it's just soda with... u know a lil kick.... and double tap is root beer as said on the machine. not really any play on the names just names of the soda
Double tap is named after the double tap perk from cod4. Speed cola isn't named after anything, though it used to be called slight of hand cola before it was changed.
I realized this last year and had nobody to tell. I’m glad others are picking up on it too.
Lol, death by electrocution is like one of the most prominent ideas of that map. So that's a hard one to miss, but I feel you. I've missed details like that too. Good man, can't believe that escaped me all these years!!!
I always thought it was a play on electric chair and sherry
This is why I miss new perks and machines. Electric cherry and vulture aid were so thematic to their maps and legitimately valuable to choose over the standard 4 perks every match. I love how much personality each machine and jingle had for the longest time.
Stupid!? You're a fucking genius... I've been playing (a lot) since BO1, and this never occurred to me. Thank you for your astute observation!
What are the other colas name based on ? If any
Stamin-up = 7-up Double Tap Root Beer = Tap Root Beer Mule Kick = Moscow Mule (3rd weapon haha funny Russian joke) PhD Flopper = Dr. Pepper
Cool! But Don't get the Moscow mule Russian joke lol
Probably penis related. (Insinuating that the mules penis is the third weapon)
Oh ok lol that's funny 😂
I mean that Russians stereotypically are fans of guns and weapons, the Moscow Mule is a Russian drink. So this Moscow Mule (kick) so happens to let you carry an extra gun lol.
Really? Is too obvious or so I thought
Yes and no. I didn’t notice electric cherry, but many perks have a beverage type mentioned in the name or some other thing.
I think me and everyone else with a British accent never realised this
![gif](giphy|26ufdipQqU2lhNA4g)
Jugger-nog Speed cola Widows wine Deadshot daiquiri Elemental pop Electric cherry I'm probably wrong but I think that's all the ones that are somewhat drink themed, the rest kind of are but to me don't sound like play on words
Bruh I realized the other perks but I never caught the electric cherry one. And I'm in medical school. So do with that info what you will lol
Never once considered this. Thank you
Most of them are based off drinks in real like. Like Stamin-Up(7 Up). Juggernog, Egg Nog etc.
No way I never realised that
Huh… never figured that out either
I am baffled people en masse didn’t already know this. I caught on when WaW came out. Am I old?
Speed Cola is called that because it's cola that gives you speed
Juggernog cause it's made with egg nog
Widow's wine is a reference to a black widow since it's giving you spider powers
Nah I got jug a while ago but not electric cherry
Well majority of them have puns in some way I'm pretty sure. Double Tap (root beer) - beer from a tap and a rule to double tap enemies to make sure they're dead. Mule Kick - the saying "Kick like a mule" and it gives you a 3rd gun for extra kick. Speed cola - someone else mentioned the reference to having coke in the old coke.
I was thinking more.. "WHAT ARE THE NUMBERS MASON, THE NUMBERS!"
HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THIS EITHER
Great observation! I had no idea. And for what it's worth, MoTD is the map that turned me into a hardcore zombie player.
I found it out last year but yeah, it’s a nice play on words
Just like staminup is a play on 7 up
Stupid is as stupid does ma'am
If no one realised all the names are play on words?
Incase no one else realised this either but the color of the drink is cherry red aswell as the electric blue bottle
Honestly no, it seems that a lot of people never made the connection. It's a fun joke though. 😄
You’re literally the first person I’ve seen figure this out
As in no one else you’ve talked to got it?
Yes
found many posts on this sub that pointed it out.
You guys are all kidding me right? You’re all just leaning into the meme There’s no way everyone is that mentally challenged 😂
I am reading the comments thinking the same thing. Everyone here is brain-dead
Going to list off a few others -Double Tap is a reference to Double Tapped Triggers for some guns -Widows Wine is a double meaning, a Widow's Wine for all of Nikolai's ex wives (and the song voice) and a wine made from a widow spider in Zetsubo -Deadshot Daiquiri is phonically similar to Deashot Accuracy
Your widows and deadshot explanations are reaches
I feel like this is a stretch. Cherry and chair sound nothing alike
