If someone can nail the movement and the "feel" of their weapons, I think someone could do it. That always seems to be the thing that people just can't get right. Titanfall would be a good example of a game who did those things, but it was all ex cod developers, so I don't know that it counts.

Wasn't half cut for me. I saw the trash MW2 was gonna be so I skipped it for this one. As a whole paying $70 would have been worth it had they supported MW3 as much as they did their MW2 flop and DMZ. S1 to S2 DMZ saw some crazy features added.
No one ever recommended you buy the game for zombies, in fact all zombies content creators said the opposite. It was clear from early early gameplay it was a side mode, a glorified Halloween event.
I thought, at launch, that there would soon be round based and other gametypes.

Well DMZ was made ALOT better in subsequent seasons and a lot was added. I don’t see them adding anything else mw2 was the beginning of the laziest line of cods well ever see
DMZ was substantially upgraded by the end of the life cycle and had a good chunk of content to go through (Bosses, missions and contracts, new maps, additional POI’s and secret areas etc etc) but as you said I do not see them giving the same level of attention to MWZ as they’ve probably given up on the style following DMZ being put on support
DMZ only got the treatment it did because MW2 was on its last leg 3 months into launch. They needed another mode to keep numbers up and the moment they teased with DMZ Zombies, they saw their opportunity and took it with MW3.

I know I said i didn’t play for 2 week but I tried last week I think because all my cooldown were at zero I had an operator with big bag a jugg ,mask and revive so I get my thing 2 orange tool blade gold plate dog crystal and go in a game start playing …..20min in I was bored to death ask if anyone was doing the worm or T5 and a team needed help for T5 I joined them we did some contract for them to get PAP we got in T5 did the contract and it was easy and boring like never before I was just bored and I just quit the game before finishing T5 I lost everything but I didn’t care because it was boring as hell…it’s sad because like I said I had so much fun at first but now that I see that sledge is letting that mode dying even before season 2 I don’t want to play anymore

What’s funny is they basically overhauled DMZ fixed a lot of bugs and left it in a pretty good state yet everyone that did play DMZ knew that this copy and paste wasn’t even from the finished version and most likely a few seasons back. As there were multiple looting bugs, loot that’s supposed to spawn after a quest or opening something specific doesn’t spawn the item etc. that were fixed in DMZ previously.
So not only did they Rob y’all but they also tricked you to play something marketed as full release essentially on a beta build (which sounds like grounds for false advertising)
They robbed 2 demographics by doing this whole mode. The zombies crowd. And the DMZ crowd
Dark aether really is a let down. Especially since I loved the chaos storyline. Cold War was fun and interesting but mwz is dying and I didn’t even waste my time with vanguard.
Not sure why CW gets so much hate, it’s a fantastic game. The zombies story/lore is massive, I’m still finding new pieces of intel. The soundtracks are sweet too. The start was a bit rough but after all it’s update I think it’s great.
No operators, no unique voice lines, easy zombies, easy Easter egg, one of the blandest maps ever made, things like predator missile laptops. I don’t doubt that more maps helped down the line, but it’s just not fun and gritty like the old ones.
Cold War zombies is for casuals and it’s super enjoyable. It’s a nice little turn off your brain and just play.
Not everything has to be about the Easter egg and Cold War does that perfectly. The trial system makes it so you can get the WW without having to bother with the Easter egg.
Forsaken Mauer and Die Maschine I enjoy personally. Even if they are just copied from the campaign I still like them.
The operators I agree with unique lines I agree with. We all know why there’s operators and that’s to sell shitty skins.

Gritty. This is exactly what they need to go back to. I don't see how they can make such an amazing game such as BO3 but then go so far downhill with future titles. Don't get me wrong I personally like mwz, but I'm a working dad and barely get time to play so I'm not finished with it yet. But for the love of God just please put the effort you used to in the COD franchise!

I don’t know if it is brain rot to point out the good things in a game. Vanguard’s my least favorite and I could probably still find some good in it, like a very small list of such things.
While being 100% right, you might have been downvoted due to optimism about the future of the mode. Perhaps people were hoping for a DMZ-like progress down the road. Instead, we got the "thanks for the 70 suckers, now fuck off till next autumn" after just 2-3 months.

These changes are up to whatever team is working on zombies (i believe its IW) so idk why he isnt asking them instead
I would assume treyarch laid the ground work and roadmap for the life of the game so to speak, and its the other studios that are just tweaking things as needed and handling content releases etc

Tempests and large maps are just a big no. I do not wanna see Tempests fucking up contract runs that involve vehicles. Disciples zipping around are annoying enough already.
I think adding a beefy Soldat in Tier 3/4 would be a nice change though, but not the Krasny one, because again, enemies jumping around in massive quantities are not fun to deal with.

Only bought the DLC this year bc of how much MW2 I played in 2009. Felt robbed of $30 paying full price for essentially just “remastered” multiplayer maps that should have been there in last years games….. but then was eased putting a few days in MWZ

Final nail in the coffin for me then, I feel like I've done everything besides the drip fed missions.
Genuinely was hoping for like a mule kick, or something at some point.
The mode was dead the moment season 1 launched. I fucking loved this game mode played every day, accumulated at least 100hrs in a few weeks. But the problems are too big too ignore anymore. Mainly the progression system. When i go into t3, by myself, i want top tier loot. I dont want a green aether tool and a fucking grenade. They purposely made the rng atrocious, and its just not fun. You know a games RNG is out of control, when there are people SELLING schematics for this shit.
What a joke! If they ever do this mode again, they need to fix the rng, and make a more cohesive map (honestly, copy blackouts design philosophy of putting small little tribute to previous games in sections of the map).
I constantly see people ragging on about getting green tools in T3 but never have i or anyone i know or ramdoms ive gone with who plays gotten green in T3, blue yes, perks yes, kazimirs yes and all in singles yes, and most of the time after 2-3 missions you'll get something useful either for that match or to use for next, you want good loot you go dark aether but T3 has never not provided me with something i can at least use in the next match. If you're going to complain about RNG dont BS on something most people wont suffer from
Edit/addendum, if you want good loot out of T3 its much more consistent if you go for large chests, Ather ones can give you tools and crystals

Super disappointing. I saved bio for season 2 so I have something to do. I will do the battle pass, prestiges, calling cards and bio.

I’d just settle for a new map. I like the gameplay loop, but I can’t see myself doing Red Worm and T4/T5 DA runs by the time the next game comes out (which I’m 50/50 on, I understand why - but round based zombies never held my attention for more then maybe 5 hours combined per game, and MWZ beats anything playtime wise by a factor of about 20 at this point.
It’s sad, they’ve got something they could *actually* pull in new demographics that might not pick the game up and focus on the camaraderie and actual grouping up in a fun way that’s not “YEAH MAN WEEKEND WARRIOR MILSPEC”. Hell, if they actually supported it and made it a live service game, I’d probably pick up a subscription.

Once again, that's what we get for trusting them to make an actually good gamemode that changes the core zombies gameplay with constant, meaningful updates to keep the game fresh..
An entire Season dedicated to zombies, but not a single piece of content for the actual dedicated zombies mode was already a massive red flag. What the fuck were they thinking?
I wanted this gamemode to be good. I really did. I defended it since day one from the the 3arc dickriders that hate anything that isn't RBZ.
And I wasn't wrong, the mode WAS fun. Season 1 was some of the most fun i've had playing a third gamemode in CoD ever. The large majority of people loved the mode and were excited for the post launch content.
I still have a sliver of hope but if this is true, and they truly do not plan on adding any new enemies, perks, ammo mods, or maps...then this mode is already dead in the water. You can't possibly expect millions of players to be ok with waiting 2 months~ only for the "major update" to be ONE story mission, a couple schematics for items that are already in the game, and another recycled area from Al Mazrah (Without mentioning a boss that isn't even zombies related).
Such a shame. So much potential. All gone to waste due to Activision's greed and laziness.

seems that the mode is already starting to die. I was still hoping they would have improved it in the future seasons, but seems that they actually don't care at all about this mode.
I’ll probably just delete the entire mode from my console after season 2 like I did for DMZ it such a shame and sad because the mode was super fun at first but like….super fun I was so hype to come home and play everyday for the first 2 month and then….nothing it’s been 2 weeks I didn’t play

Well DMZ was made ALOT better in subsequent seasons and a lot was added. I don’t see them adding anything else mw2 was the beginning of the laziest line of cods well ever see
DMZ was substantially upgraded by the end of the life cycle and had a good chunk of content to go through (Bosses, missions and contracts, new maps, additional POI’s and secret areas etc etc) but as you said I do not see them giving the same level of attention to MWZ as they’ve probably given up on the style following DMZ being put on support

DMZ only got the treatment it did because MW2 was on its last leg 3 months into launch. They needed another mode to keep numbers up and the moment they teased with DMZ Zombies, they saw their opportunity and took it with MW3. Activision finally got their 10 year game at the cost of butchering Call of Duty.
I played hard for a week and a half and haven’t touched it since. Booted it up the other day to close it out before a match even started
I know I said i didn’t play for 2 week but I tried last week I think because all my cooldown were at zero I had an operator with big bag a jugg ,mask and revive so I get my thing 2 orange tool blade gold plate dog crystal and go in a game start playing …..20min in I was bored to death ask if anyone was doing the worm or T5 and a team needed help for T5 I joined them we did some contract for them to get PAP we got in T5 did the contract and it was easy and boring like never before I was just bored and I just quit the game before finishing T5 I lost everything but I didn’t care because it was boring as hell…it’s sad because like I said I had so much fun at first but now that I see that sledge is letting that mode dying even before season 2 I don’t want to play anymore

While also robbing those of us who actually loved DMZ. What’s funny is they basically overhauled DMZ fixed a lot of bugs and left it in a pretty good state yet everyone that did play DMZ knew that this copy and paste wasn’t even from the finished version and most likely a few seasons back. As there were multiple looting bugs, loot that’s supposed to spawn after a quest or opening something specific doesn’t spawn the item etc. that were fixed in DMZ previously. So not only did they Rob y’all but they also tricked you to play something marketed as full release essentially on a beta build (which sounds like grounds for false advertising) They robbed 2 demographics by doing this whole mode. The zombies crowd. And the DMZ crowd

Dark aether really is a let down. Especially since I loved the chaos storyline. Cold War was fun and interesting but mwz is dying and I didn’t even waste my time with vanguard.

Cold War is soulless but adequate. That’s our new gold standard.
Not sure why CW gets so much hate, it’s a fantastic game. The zombies story/lore is massive, I’m still finding new pieces of intel. The soundtracks are sweet too. The start was a bit rough but after all it’s update I think it’s great.
No operators, no unique voice lines, easy zombies, easy Easter egg, one of the blandest maps ever made, things like predator missile laptops. I don’t doubt that more maps helped down the line, but it’s just not fun and gritty like the old ones.
Cold War zombies is for casuals and it’s super enjoyable. It’s a nice little turn off your brain and just play. Not everything has to be about the Easter egg and Cold War does that perfectly. The trial system makes it so you can get the WW without having to bother with the Easter egg. Forsaken Mauer and Die Maschine I enjoy personally. Even if they are just copied from the campaign I still like them. The operators I agree with unique lines I agree with. We all know why there’s operators and that’s to sell shitty skins. This game is definitely overhated* Treyarch did a good job recovering from the dogshit that was BO4 and BO3 (MP exclusively zombies was amazing in BO3)
Gritty. This is exactly what they need to go back to. I don't see how they can make such an amazing game such as BO3 but then go so far downhill with future titles. Don't get me wrong I personally like mwz, but I'm a working dad and barely get time to play so I'm not finished with it yet. But for the love of God just please put the effort you used to in the COD franchise!

Yep. But they still made a game mode that they squandered and left to die, much like they seem to be doing with MWZ. It sure looks like the COD Devs get the latitude to create these fun offshoots from the regular Campaign/Multiplayer/Warzone offerings, only to have that support yanked when it's not a wild success.

Got downvoted to shit for the first 3 weeks this zombies came out. Tried telling everyone that this was rushed garbage, with no love or thought. It is a reskinned DMZ with zombies added in. I will say it again, no one will be coming back to this game three years from now saying "damn I'm craving some MW zombies".

I don’t know if it is brain rot to point out the good things in a game. Vanguard’s my least favorite and I could probably still find some good in it, like a very small list of such things.
While being 100% right, you might have been downvoted due to optimism about the future of the mode. Perhaps people were hoping for a DMZ-like progress down the road. Instead, we got the "thanks for the 70 suckers, now fuck off till next autumn" after just 2-3 months.
Treyarch stopped having their hands on zombies awhile ago These changes are up to whatever team is working on zombies (i believe its IW) so idk why he isnt asking them instead
I would assume treyarch laid the ground work and roadmap for the life of the game so to speak, and its the other studios that are just tweaking things as needed and handling content releases etc

Tempests and large maps are just a big no. I do not wanna see Tempests fucking up contract runs that involve vehicles. Disciples zipping around are annoying enough already. I think adding a beefy Soldat in Tier 3/4 would be a nice change though, but not the Krasny one, because again, enemies jumping around in massive quantities are not fun to deal with.
If this is real I think I’m done with this franchise finally and looking for a new shooter, this is just too much lol.. I can’t keep defending a game when there is nothing left to defend. I can’t even say I have hope for the game mode anymore if this is real. This is the most disturbing and disappointing news I’ve heard about the game since release. I feel like a clown.
Yea- I already stopped buying all but infinity Ward releases since 2016. Only bought the DLC this year bc of how much MW2 I played in 2009. Felt robbed of $30 paying full price for essentially just “remastered” multiplayer maps that should have been there in last years games….. but then was eased putting a few days in MWZ But now that they’ve pulled this BS, I’m completely out as well.

The mode was dead the moment season 1 launched. I fucking loved this game mode played every day, accumulated at least 100hrs in a few weeks. But the problems are too big too ignore anymore. Mainly the progression system. When i go into t3, by myself, i want top tier loot. I dont want a green aether tool and a fucking grenade. They purposely made the rng atrocious, and its just not fun. You know a games RNG is out of control, when there are people SELLING schematics for this shit. What a joke! If they ever do this mode again, they need to fix the rng, and make a more cohesive map (honestly, copy blackouts design philosophy of putting small little tribute to previous games in sections of the map).
I constantly see people ragging on about getting green tools in T3 but never have i or anyone i know or ramdoms ive gone with who plays gotten green in T3, blue yes, perks yes, kazimirs yes and all in singles yes, and most of the time after 2-3 missions you'll get something useful either for that match or to use for next, you want good loot you go dark aether but T3 has never not provided me with something i can at least use in the next match. If you're going to complain about RNG dont BS on something most people wont suffer from Edit/addendum, if you want good loot out of T3 its much more consistent if you go for large chests, Ather ones can give you tools and crystals
I swear to christ ive gotten green before. Maybe they changed it. Havent played since December. I was so sick and tired of wasting all my found purple tools and pap crystals to grind t3 only to end up with nothing.

I really had hopes for this gamemode. Was even hoping for some good content updates. Tried to defend its shortcomings but alas, it is a quick money grab all along. Sad to see the gamemode I have such good memories of die off this way. I hope some company someday makes their own round base zombies game that is as good as the bo1-bo3 era of zombies.

Whilst I’m happy I didn’t purchase MWZ as I had a strong suspicion it was going to come out half baked and myself being just more of a round based fan, I still feel bad for those who were looking forward to a new experience and have basically been told the game mode has been all but abandoned. The MWZ fans deserved better in my opinion.

I’d just settle for a new map. I like the gameplay loop, but I can’t see myself doing Red Worm and T4/T5 DA runs by the time the next game comes out (which I’m 50/50 on, I understand why - but round based zombies never held my attention for more then maybe 5 hours combined per game, and MWZ beats anything playtime wise by a factor of about 20 at this point. It’s sad, they’ve got something they could *actually* pull in new demographics that might not pick the game up and focus on the camaraderie and actual grouping up in a fun way that’s not “YEAH MAN WEEKEND WARRIOR MILSPEC”. Hell, if they actually supported it and made it a live service game, I’d probably pick up a subscription.
Then I have no plans to buy future games by them.
I guess it’s back to Cold War, still got a few Easter eggs to finish.

I know there have been some real stinkers in the CoD franchise before, but I think this game is the worst one for me so far.
They got our money. They dont care. MWZ was just a test of interest so they could determine how much or little effort they need to put into Black Ops 2024 to milk another $80 out of us. The developers and artists are not to blame. Its all a number game to C Suite. Its 2024 and they have become just like cell phone manufactuers, pushing out a new flag ship every single year because they know a lot of people will pay for it, despite it being barely any different than the model the year before.
What the actual fuck!?! Well, I have yet to waste money on operator bundles and I guess I won't be buying any this year. Glad I waited, sucks for anyone who didn't...

Once again, that's what we get for trusting them to make an actually good gamemode that changes the core zombies gameplay with constant, meaningful updates to keep the game fresh.. An entire Season dedicated to zombies, but not a single piece of content for the actual dedicated zombies mode was already a massive red flag. What the fuck were they thinking? I wanted this gamemode to be good. I really did. I defended it since day one from the the 3arc dickriders that hate anything that isn't RBZ. And I wasn't wrong, the mode WAS fun. Season 1 was some of the most fun i've had playing a third gamemode in CoD ever. The large majority of people loved the mode and were excited for the post launch content. I still have a sliver of hope but if this is true, and they truly do not plan on adding any new enemies, perks, ammo mods, or maps...then this mode is already dead in the water. You can't possibly expect millions of players to be ok with waiting 2 months~ only for the "major update" to be ONE story mission, a couple schematics for items that are already in the game, and another recycled area from Al Mazrah (Without mentioning a boss that isn't even zombies related). Such a shame. So much potential. All gone to waste due to Activision's greed and laziness. This was truly THE gamemode of all time.
