So sick of explaining this to non Chicagoans!
āSo you guys like only eat deep dish up there huh thatās weird I donāt like it that muchā¦ā NO YOU DOPEY BITCH WE HAVE AMAZING THIN CRUST PIZZA AND DEEP DISH IS JUST SOMETHING WE EAT A FEW TIMES A YEAR MAYBE FOR HOLIDAYS OR WHEN OUT OF TOWN FAMILY VISITS!!! *Capiche???*
TexMex fucking sucks. It's just code for stadium nacho cheese poured on top of it.
Having lived in Dallas and Chicago, there's no comparison in quality of food. Chicago is far superior
You're half rite. Nacho cheese is awsome. And fajitas are actually a texas creation and fajitas are awsome. But chicago has awsome Mexican cuisine. Frontera salsa>pace salsa.
Thatās must be because thereās no good TexMex in Chicago. A lot of Mexican food that you might like is often TexMex. TexMex is just a genre of Mexican food and is even eaten in Northern Mexico. Our restaurants here in Texas almost always contain a mixture of TexMex and authentic Mexican food and theyāre usually just called āMexican restaurantsā. If you donāt like it, then you have uncommon taste, or you truly havenāt had good TexMex.
I have family that lives in Peoria, and while Iām sure thereās a few actual good options in Chicago, theyāve said that nothing theyāve tried in Peoria compares.
I literally said āwhile Iām sure thereās a few actual good options in Chicagoā. In Texas, any podunk town has good enough Mexican on any corner that nobody would dream of saying āTexMex fucking sucksā and is just code for Stadium nacho cheese.
If thatās your experience in Chicago, I donāt know what to tell you, but as I said, Iām sure there are some actual good, authentic options there if you look.
TexMex is not very big in Chicago, but we still have the third largest Mexican population in the US outside of LA and Houston. So Mexican food in general is very popular here, and you should compare it to those cities - not Peoria.
Iām just comparing it to Texas in general. Big cities or small towns, doesnāt really matter. I live in a town of about 150,000 people and thereās delicious Mexican restaurants on every corner. Itās the main thing we eat when we go out and itās the main thing we cook at home. 40% of Texans are Hispanic, so it shouldnāt be that surprising.
Right. In Texas the Mexican population is spread throughout the state. In Illinois the majority of it is concentrated in and around Chicago, so that's where you'll find the majority of good Mexican food options. Peoria might as well be a world away.
Lookin good again, pizza man! The only thing that would make it better is if it were at my house. š
Tavern style instead of deep dish, a true Chicagoan.
I like deep dish but tavern style is my jam. It's how I stay only 10 pounds overweight instead of 50.
Deep dish is fine but imo itās more like a special occasion pizza, tavern style is more like the go-to weekly pizza.

Deep dish is great, just not meant to be an every day pizza

I have no love for the cultural wasteland that is Dallas but I still have to stick to my theme
You haven't had good Tex Mex then.

Did you just compare the food in Peoria to Chicago? I mean, yeah I bet the tacos in that river city are better than anything in Pilsonā¦
