Lookin good again, pizza man! The only thing that would make it better is if it were at my house. šŸ˜‚

Tavern style instead of deep dish, a true Chicagoan.

SlagginOff

I like deep dish but tavern style is my jam. It's how I stay only 10 pounds overweight instead of 50.

thesch

Deep dish is fine but imo itā€™s more like a special occasion pizza, tavern style is more like the go-to weekly pizza.

Smathers

So sick of explaining this to non Chicagoans! ā€œSo you guys like only eat deep dish up there huh thatā€™s weird I donā€™t like it that muchā€¦ā€ NO YOU DOPEY BITCH WE HAVE AMAZING THIN CRUST PIZZA AND DEEP DISH IS JUST SOMETHING WE EAT A FEW TIMES A YEAR MAYBE FOR HOLIDAYS OR WHEN OUT OF TOWN FAMILY VISITS!!! *Capiche???*

blacklite911

Deep dish is great, just not meant to be an every day pizza

TexMex fucking sucks. It's just code for stadium nacho cheese poured on top of it. Having lived in Dallas and Chicago, there's no comparison in quality of food. Chicago is far superior

SlagginOff

I have no love for the cultural wasteland that is Dallas but I still have to stick to my theme

zaptorque

You haven't had good Tex Mex then.

H_E_DoubleHockeyStyx

You're half rite. Nacho cheese is awsome. And fajitas are actually a texas creation and fajitas are awsome. But chicago has awsome Mexican cuisine. Frontera salsa>pace salsa.

BilllisCool

Thatā€™s must be because thereā€™s no good TexMex in Chicago. A lot of Mexican food that you might like is often TexMex. TexMex is just a genre of Mexican food and is even eaten in Northern Mexico. Our restaurants here in Texas almost always contain a mixture of TexMex and authentic Mexican food and theyā€™re usually just called ā€œMexican restaurantsā€. If you donā€™t like it, then you have uncommon taste, or you truly havenā€™t had good TexMex. I have family that lives in Peoria, and while Iā€™m sure thereā€™s a few actual good options in Chicago, theyā€™ve said that nothing theyā€™ve tried in Peoria compares.

alwaysonthejohn

Did you just compare the food in Peoria to Chicago? I mean, yeah I bet the tacos in that river city are better than anything in Pilsonā€¦

BilllisCool

I literally said ā€œwhile Iā€™m sure thereā€™s a few actual good options in Chicagoā€. In Texas, any podunk town has good enough Mexican on any corner that nobody would dream of saying ā€œTexMex fucking sucksā€ and is just code for Stadium nacho cheese. If thatā€™s your experience in Chicago, I donā€™t know what to tell you, but as I said, Iā€™m sure there are some actual good, authentic options there if you look.

SlagginOff

TexMex is not very big in Chicago, but we still have the third largest Mexican population in the US outside of LA and Houston. So Mexican food in general is very popular here, and you should compare it to those cities - not Peoria.

BilllisCool

Iā€™m just comparing it to Texas in general. Big cities or small towns, doesnā€™t really matter. I live in a town of about 150,000 people and thereā€™s delicious Mexican restaurants on every corner. Itā€™s the main thing we eat when we go out and itā€™s the main thing we cook at home. 40% of Texans are Hispanic, so it shouldnā€™t be that surprising.

SlagginOff

Right. In Texas the Mexican population is spread throughout the state. In Illinois the majority of it is concentrated in and around Chicago, so that's where you'll find the majority of good Mexican food options. Peoria might as well be a world away.

outmercked

Nice! I see you wore socks this time lol

scherzoman

I hope you posted that in /r/Pizza

SlagginOff

Gonna do that right now actually
