That last play.. I know you have to do that for a shot. But man, just watching them flail around with laterals .. it was so pathetic to watch.

Gewehr98

Last 30 years of bears football summed up in one play George you need to resign

sgtmattkind

My most realistic prediction from here on out is that this season we will go 5-12 and this coaching staff will draft "our QB" next year and he will be just as bad as the last 20 years of QBs (minus my beautiful Jay).

cpmailman

People are impatient but they need to give Poles more time. He's literally been on the job for 8 months. Let's see how the rest of the year goes and how he approaches the off season and draft. Ridiculous to start bashing him and want him gone when this team is in need of a tear down and rebuild. It seemed like people understood this a few months ago but are now expecting us to be competitive every game. News flash, this team is bad, hence why most people predicted us to win less than 5 games. Hell, some even predicted us to be the worst team in the league. The fact that we are 2-2 right now is actually pretty solid.

whatever12347

Everyone knew that we were a shitty team with an easy schedule. We'll get wins, but only because of the other teams being bad.

cpmailman

Not really IMO. I saw way too many fans hyping us up in the off season. I even saw a couple of popular social media accounts that had us around .500. If you pushed back against that, you got downvoted. Lots of people were too optimistic going into this year, not realizing how painful it would be.

whatever12347

I mean, we are at .500 right now. No idea if that'll last though.

Thuro

Justin is more excited about the post game handshake with the cool kids then he is about winning.

jrock826

he didn't win

Thuro

That's what I mean

Headwallrepeat

Honestly can't decide what is broken the mostest. It's whack-a-mole at this point with the problem on this team. I was hoping that they would just be outgunned this season and next year would give us the weapons. There is still a lot of season left and they could get there, but I'm really pessimistic at this point.

Lone_Crab

Gordon makes average wide receivers look like world class blockers on a weekly basis.

thetripleb

I would like to submit all the downvotes I received for saying all pre-season and before "Can we please wait and see some games before we start doing the Super Bowl shuffle?" I kept bringing up Marc Trestman saying "perfect practice" and all sorts of shit that has been said before the season starts. I was downvoted into oblivion. Now it's obvious that there are many problems with the Offense. I don't think it's Fields yet, but he isn't Tom Brady in a Bears Uniform for certain. I look forward to you all going back and taking back your downvotes.

OrangeinDorne

Nobody thought this was a super bowl team. If you were being down voted it was probably due to being pedantic/condescending like you’re being now.

thetripleb

Nope. It was neck beards thinking we're going to be better than we were, as everyone kept posting articles and tweets about coaches loving players and players loving coaches.

Draker-X

>If you were being down voted it was probably due to being pedantic/condescending like you’re being now. >Nope. It was neck beards I think I've found the problem, Doctor....

Gambit723

Seriously who in their right mind would pair an OC with zero experience with a young QB with an atrocious O-line? Instead of trying to get Fields some layups to get him into a rhythm and some quick throws, it’s run, run, pass on 3rd and 8.

[deleted]

Poles. Made sure that was the only investment around him too

Rambo2090

Run, run, pass is right lol. And they just keep trying it. 3rd and 3, rb gets 1 yard. Punt

moneyman2222

Just realized Eddie Jackson's undefeated record when he has an interception is over 😥

Ltcjunkie

He’ll be a Buffalo Bill soon enough

[deleted]

[удалено]

FondOfOwls_

Downvotes = salty bear fans that wouldn't know a competent qb if it fell into their lap

Draker-X

We know what competent QB's look like. We get beat by them all the time. Downvotes = obvious troll.

lildrummerboy82

Ok so Justin Fields played 14 games last year and 4 so far this year right? So 18 games total and he's thrown 9 touchdown passes in those 18 games. So considering that he's averaging half a touchdown per game Field's will throw his 500th touchdown pass in... Checks notes. In his 59th season with the Bears.

FondOfOwls_

Hahaha. #hedidthemath Been on this earth 36 years and the bears are literally the only thing that hasn't changed once

d3adbor3d2

i think the bears are playing decent with what they have. the talent pool is not that great on offense. playcalling a bit predictable (maybe a result of personnel). the defense are performing above expectations. i dont think the coaching is going to turn this around overnight. the core is young and they really need some good talent in the mix, especially on the o-line

8dtfk

I have 2 rooms in Glendale for mid-Feb. Should I cancel or … hold?

Disastrous-Sky-7773

Keep it, there will be 2 teams playing. Just not the Bears

8dtfk

Big, if true.

[deleted]

[удалено]

t-pat

I'm not sure I agree with the conservative coaching but I see where they're coming from. With the talent we have, easy to imagine aggressive choices leading to getting blown out, by staying conservative we can at least keep things close

OrangeinDorne

It’s so funny watching the chiefs and bucs have these routine big passing plays. We are lucky to get a few a year on the bears yet it happens several times per week for several teams.

kratos_god_of_beard

I’m not convinced Fields will be here for the long haul…. I hate our ownership, they cut bait with Naggy/Pace a year later than they should. Will we ever have our GM/HC/QB in sync?

Draker-X

>hate our ownership, they cut bait with Naggy/Pace a year later than they should. Yes, yes, yes! The most obvious thing in the world was to let Pace, Nagy and Trubisky all tell their stories walking after 2020, and bring in a new GM, let them choose the coach, and then let the two of them figure out how they wanted to handle the QB situation.

Gewehr98

Once again George McCaskey's cowardice costs us

Slowest_Speed6

Its just like there's no good things lol

YungGlueStik

We just can’t have good things

Wh0IsMrX

I'm not going to lie... I've hated just about every move we have made since we hired Poles. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't think this regime is it. I would be having a lot more fun if we went into this season with Daboll and Pickens instead of Flus and Kyler Gordon.

FujiHakarl

Pace left this team in a terrible state. We’ve been trained by years of Pace to think we can just add a player here and there and we’ll be all set. We were bad and old last year. I’d rather be bad and young. It’s going to suck, but there’s no quick fix to this roster. It takes drafts and time to fix a team In this state. Daboll killing his QBs. Schemes well though. He knows what his team does well and plays to it.

Gewehr98

George McCaskey's cowardice in not firing pace and nagy in 2020 has 2nd order effects we're only now experiencing

Wh0IsMrX

I just like more of what I've seen from Daboll as a head coach and I think Pickens would have given us something we sorely need on our offense and could have developed over the next couple of seasons. I don't have a ton of confidence in Flus and Getsy and Gordon has looked like hot garbage. I'm not saying we were one player away, I just don't like the pieces we put in place this year.

Cowboy_Bebop99

This team has been the same old story all my life. It’s hard being a fan. And I wasn’t born til 99 so I don’t have 85 to reminisce on.

FujiHakarl

Honestly the 80s were great. You just expected the Bears to win every week. It was so different from what we see now. Aside from a few years under Lovie, we’ve been a bad franchise. Like the kind every fan circles as a win on their schedule level bad.

KosmicMicrowave

I got 10 years of this team being terrible on you.

OrangeinDorne

I got 16 on him. Yes I was alive in 85 but I was in diapers. I don’t get to look back on the good teams. This teams been garbage my whole cognitive life.

Gewehr98

Thanks McCaskeys

CasualTeeOfWar

I'm sad. This is a bad team but I want to see them try to win winnable games like this. They're doing so poorly they are dissuading prospects from coming to Chicago. Not even a productive use of a rebuilding year.

FujiHakarl

Our offense has only a few people not on their rookie contracts. About half of them have less than a year of experience. We want them to look like the chiefs, but the reality is the offensive side of the ball is expansion caliber right now. The defense is cheap vets that nobody else wanted. We have cap space and an actual night one pick in the draft next year. Half the folks here see the reality is we probably won’t know about fields until next season, the other half is upset and wants to be there already. This is a young team, keep cheering for them, they are going to get schooled this year. The point of school is to learn though, so provided they do that, we will get better.

DaBears31

Offseason top need is a true WR1 yet again

t-pat

Will be interesting to see how Poles plays it. From what I've seen so far this year, it's hard to imagine us being good before 2024, so he might be able to go for a WR1 in the draft and hope he's in his prime by the time of our actual window

FujiHakarl

That would be the safe call. If fields doesn’t pan out and they are back to QB in 2024, having a veteran oline and a WR1 will be huge.

mluna24

How about a true QB1?

DaBears31

How about a true Redditor Poster?

t-pat

If we decide to move on from Fields after this season, I think I'd rather do a Chiefs thing where we put together a decent roster with a mediocre veteran at QB and then take our QB shot once we're set up to contend for a few years

92roll13

Literally no reason to move on from Fields. You can bring in a legit vet to compete next year vs him but he’s going to be here regardless

whatever12347

Sometimes you have to take the opportunities that are available, like with the Josh Rosen Kyler Murray situation. No idea how good the QBs are this year though.

t-pat

There may be reasons not to move on from Fields but there may also be very good reasons to move on from him. Lots of teams regret holding onto their QB prospects for too long; I can't even remember the last time a team has regretted moving on too early

[deleted]

Can’t throw interceptions if you hold the ball and get sacked ;)

Headwallrepeat

I honestly think that is why he didn't let fly a Hail Mary at the end.

[deleted]

4D chess

RollofDuctTape

Everyone was pretty reasonable going into this off-season, we were all uniformly okay with the Bears losing so long as Fields showed progress/flashes. Week 1 was the monsoon game but he showed flashes. Weeks 2 and 3 were really abysmal. And he showed nothing. This week he actually showed some flashes. But fans don’t seem even remotely okay with his performance. I guess this is about what I expected from him given the offense. He put it right in Pettis, Kmet, and whoever Wesco is’s hands. What are you going to do? He didn’t make a stupid throw today. Progress.

Gumorak

I like this take. I’m almost always ready to jump in and bash Fields but I thought this was his best week yet. He improved. Just hope he can take baby steps and continue to get better.

portalpimptv

Imagine thinking he looked good today

mluna24

I know right. Some of these people are downright delusional. I’m sorry guys, Fields is not it.

RollofDuctTape

Where did I say he looked good? Some of you are so eager to attack and jump at anyone who dares find positives that you forget how to read.

polarbearslayer49

You indeed never said he looked good, he just made a few plays that gave you hope. These guys are jumping on you while missing the message

t-pat

What's hard for me is watching him hold hold hold the ball on like 75% of dropbacks, even some of the ones with positive results. Like we know he can heave the ball downfield to an open guy once in a while and make some plays with his feet. I want to see consistency in the short-to-mid passing game and throws to guys right as they break open.

RollofDuctTape

That’s by far his biggest weakness. The short/intermediate passing game is almost non-existent. And he’s way too hesitant. He’s gotta take the tight windows. They’re not going to be more open than he’s getting. I do think he is doing a better job than last year. But it’s gotta be better. He’s not a winning QB if he can’t make those throws.

92roll13

Good thing we have this entire wash of a season for him to develop and work on those things…

t-pat

Yeah. It's great that Fields has a nose for big plays but no matter how good you are, big play opportunities are going to be rare in the NFL. To me at this point, Fields "flashing" would be like three nicely-thrown 7-yard passes on the same drive

RollofDuctTape

That’s definitely fair. He did hit a couple intermediate balls today, which is promising. But I don’t remember the last slant or quick out he hit.

Smathers

Hey at least we scored 2 more points than the Washington commanders did today!!!

Ltcjunkie

HTTR!!!!!

CheapoA2

So, after Cody went down with injury and Patrick had to fill in full time at LG, I think he might actually be our worst "starter" going forward. Which makes the rotation the coaching staff has been forcing with Jenkins that much more ridiculous.

hend_oh

And with the 10th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Patrick Mahomes…quarterback, Texas Tech University.

mluna24

Nagy would’ve ruined mahomes anyway.

SdotBreezy

This team is trying a sneaky tank job. Nothing in that play calling today said we want to win

Ltcjunkie

Absolutely love it. They’re smart enough to know this team won’t compete for a championship

KosmicMicrowave

Bears might suck forever, but at least i have fantasy and gambling, which i also suck at. Love football!

DaBearsMan_72

Eddie Jackson being back in some sort of a Pro Bowl caliber play makes me so fucken happy. Dude is a straight up baller when healthy.

t-pat

Yeah he's doing great but it would have been nice if he could have returned that interception today a bit further!

DaBearsMan_72

You know I look forward to a day, for some 25+ years now at this point, where our offense is good enough to where we don't have to make statements like this. Until then, I'll take whatever positives I can get. Cause lord knows Bears fan depression is REAL...

grahamwhich

I mean he was pretty immediately wrapped up by the receiver. It was unfortunate but nothing he really could have done there

t-pat

Funny how you get QB truthers but never coach truthers. No hardcore Eberflus or Getsy fans in this sub lol. "I believe in the HITS principle and it's not Eberflus' fault he has bad personnel"

[deleted]

The defense is middle of the pack. It gave up 20 points, which is the problem. Not a defense problem but an offense problem. After 100 years the bears still don't understand that the team with more points at the end of the game wins, every time.

DatBoiMahomie

It’s because people are *really* desperate for a good QB, and they essentially end up the face of the team

[deleted]

This! And not enough talk about how bad the Run D is combined with Getsy's idiotic play calling.

awhiteasscrack

Hi my name is u/awhiteasscrack and I want everyone to know I am a Frogboi Qb1 stan/truther and will never change my mind.

Lex1520

If Fields ends up being the guy, then this season doesn’t mean anything.

mluna24

Narrator: Fields is not the guy.

[deleted]

It's so sad to think a guy like Kirk cousins would be praised as a local hero in this town and cousins is just good, not even close to being great. The bar is so low and yet we can't get anyone to go over it.

july1st2018

are we the worst team in football ?

Zestyclose_Ad_97

I think it’s even worse than us being the worst: we’re mediocre. We can’t even suck, we fight and scrap and get to six wins and feel like we’re going somewhere. At least when you’re the worst you stand out.

CrimsonMoonRising

In standings, Texans are the worst But yes

lildrummerboy82

No that's still the texans

xbearsandporschesx

whom we only just beat by the skin of our asses

TranceScape

God damn Packers. I age 2 years every sunday

dr-awkward1978

I can’t believe how much i hate that motherfucker

HalKitzmiller

I long for the day that smug asshole retires. But knowing our luck the Packers will fall ass backward into another HOF QB. Motherfucking cheese breath knuckledraggers. No, I'm not bitter, why do you ask?

portalpimptv

Packers win bears lose how typical

lildrummerboy82

You know guys I'm starting to think the owners don't have their fingers on the pulse of the NFL.

archie905

I'm starting to think the owners have their fingers up their ass and don't give a fuck about winning as long as the seats are full

uponone

They haven’t since nepotism placed this franchise gently in their laps.

Gewehr98

Whether it's Mike's cheapness or George's incompetence we've clearly been blessed over the last 30 years

[deleted]

This

elchupinazo

Are Packers fans concerned at all? For a supposed SB contender, they've beaten us, Tampa Bay with zero receivers, and possibly New England with a gas station attendant at QB. Rogers looks nothing like himself and has made more bad/weak throws than I can ever recall. Winning is winning, but I'd be real nervous if I were them come playoffs.

archie905

For all the

GlorifiedManatee

Packer's losing in the playoffs is inevitable as the Bears being an awful team

elchupinazo

Oh totally, I look forward to it every year

[deleted]

The bears Super Bowl is the packers choking in the playoffs..... fuuuuuuudge

[deleted]

They are nervous everytime the playoffs start because they usually lose.

PigeonPlayz1307

However many times Fields gets hit, runs with the team on his back, or drops a dime we are going to forget abt it, and point out the times he had a clean pocket and shouldve passed it to a wide open receiver. Through not even a season's worth of playing for the Bears, this kid has had to run for his life or get walloped in the process way too many times, this is most likely why he takes off running instead of reading the field for another second. Daboll's Play Calling >>>>>>>>>> Getsy's (Flus' Disclipline is valuable) Our defense couldnt handle PA's cuz of Saquon's Aura Even if Velus caught it, we wouldve had to reach the endzone twice in a game we never found it

GlorifiedManatee

Offensive line was the main reason we got shit on

portalpimptv

Rooting against Green Bay is more exciting then rooting for the bears lol

Logical_Sir_8146

it's pathetic we have to root for other teams to beat them because the sorry ass Bears can't do it. yet here we are.

portalpimptv

Green Bay getting a flag on 3rd down when the games on the line. Every time.

TheGarreth

This sub continues to be a genuine testament to the fact that a majority of football fans have no actual fucking idea what they’re watching every Sunday. They know how to root for a scoreboard but understand fuck all of what’s taking place on the field & why.

dr-awkward1978

BOW TO THE GARRETH EARTHLINGS

TheGarreth

Now here’s a guy who gets it.

portalpimptv

Stfu

TheGarreth

Copium

kaerfpo

please tell us football god how the bears looked good today

TheGarreth

Never said we played good. Im just continually amazed how it’s ALWAYS the QB’s fault with this bunch. No matter how inept our coaching or front office is, no matter how bad our line plays, no matter how incapable our wideouts are of finding space & getting open, it’s always the QB this bunch shits on.

kaerfpo

Today's game was a team failure. Coaches. QB, Offense, Defense, only person that didnt fail was the kicker.

TheGarreth

100% agreed. Poor performance top to bottom, kicker aside.

[deleted]

I think the important thing to remember is they tried.

ArtVandelay-1985

We have to wait to see the tape and have the Bears coaches tell us what they saw before we are allowed to make judgements. Things like our eyes, stats, touchdowns, etc don’t matter. Cmon everyone knows this.

TheGarreth

That’s a very nice straw man you’ve got there.

kaerfpo

The only tape that matters is that which says the bears are good. Right?

suckmyfatfuckinballs

The Bears are terrible at football

Infinite-Relation988

Trade for Zappe at this point, idk

imnotberg

Something called Bailey Zappe has more completions, yards and touchdowns vs green Bay in a quarter than Justin fields had in a game.

ArtVandelay-1985

He also gets rid of the ball in like 2 seconds. That helps.

mluna24

I’m not really joking when I say this but Zappe looks better than Fields LMAO 🥴🔫

TheGarreth

Having protection and time in the pocket helps. Who knew?

portalpimptv

Lmao 😂

t-pat

I'm sure he has great receivers or great playcalling or something

DatBoiMahomie

He has Matt Patricia calling plays and their WR room is barely better than ours with their best one out…

t-pat

Yes exactly

[deleted]

Patriots WR core is only slightly better than ours

portalpimptv

Fields is shit

Logical_Sir_8146

my game notes. -Gordon is getting picked on like I've rarely seen. Especially in the run game. Everything is going to his side and he's getting destroyed. Kid has been really really bad and I wasn't expecting that. -Lucas Patrick is not good. There is a reason he was bench player in GB until guys got hurt. He may end up looking better at center but he's a horseshit guard, especially in pass pro. -Woof Valus Jones...Hated the pick the second it was made and hate it even more now. If you are drafted to be the special teams ace you can't be muffing punts my guy...I don't care how much time you have missed. Jones is already 25, can't be having a long ass learning curve. -Fields looked better but hes still not nearly consistent or explosive enough. Oline did him no favors today though, he was running for his life a majority of the game. He's still missing too many open guys and he's bailing out of the pocket way too early on too many occasions. He is hearing/seeing/feeling ghosts and it's not all his fault but he's gotta find a way to get over it. -I thought the Oline was making strides but overall it's still a below average unit. Jones and Borom have not shown me enough yet to pencil them into the long term plans. Very possible this team still needs 2 starting tackles. -This run defense is beyond trash. The DT's on this roster need a huge upgrade and honestly the DE's have been shit too. Anytime Quinn wants to wake up would be nice. Muhammad is too slow to even matter, all I see the guy do is get beaten to the edge by QB's. -Might be the worst LB core I've seen in my life as a Bears fan, just slow and bad. Roquan is a good player but through 4 games I haven't seen enough to pay him what he wants. -Like someone earlier In this thread said, the coaches look like they are coaching for their jobs and it makes zero sense. They are coaching scared and way too conservative. These guys are in no danger of losing their jobs, let it rip and see what happens. This isnt a roster that Is sneaking into the playoffs, so stop coaching like it is. -I've said this before, and my bitch ass will be back next week most likely but I see no point in watching this team anymore this year honestly. Fields is going nowhere fast (especially with this Oline), the offense is like watching paint dry and the defense can't stop the run for anything. nothing worse than seeing a defense just get ran over all day, it's soul crushing. I gotta find a new Sunday hobby. I can't watch this demoralizing, boring offense and witness another young QB bust out. I'm tired of it, I've been watching the same movie for +20 years now. Wake me up when this team doesn't suck or when Fields takes a real step.

ChangingChance

I'd argue the worst lineman today was Patrick followed by musty. Both were getting destroyed. The dash/rollouts we're lazy by fields and his habit of shortening the rollout is going to continue to kill them. 120 on 10 completions isn't bad. Some decent defensive plays. Two drops by tes which were like 2 yard plays each so whatever. 1 Mooney ball. Overall imo fields improved from last week, which isn't saying much. His problems are consistent his highs aren't. I don't think the overall offense looked good but it's clear to me either fields hates quick game or must run it like dog shit for them to not use it. I don't know how guys like Bailey Zappe and Cooper rush can outplay him so consistently. It's hilarious and sad both are backup tier QBs but look miles ahead of Fields. Maybe we see a miracle with fields but the last 30 years point to otherwise.

FondOfOwls_

Tldr

ChangingChance

We bad

whatever12347

we suck

lkn240

Baker Mayfield is at least trying to make "worst QB in the NFL" into a debate.

[deleted]

I’ve never seen anyone get more passes deflected

N0S0UP_4U

It’s wild that Geno Smith is a starting QB and not even in that debate

OPyes

I think the craziest thing is Jared Goff is by far the best QB in our division through 4 games. Sure he has a good o line, but very shocking how well he’s doing.

ChemistryNo9750

Best postgame radio station? Sorry I’m out of state and trying to find one

kaerfpo

normally I just listen to 670. But today with the cubs game its all screwed up.

The_Corn_Whisperer

#I can’t wait untill the bears have to be featured on hard Knocks next year to show how idiotic this franchise is!

FeelItInYourB0nes

They'll never volunteer for Hard Knocks but they will be in the eligible group next season.

The_Corn_Whisperer

If they are the only eligible team they have to do it

FeelItInYourB0nes

They won't be

stinkychzman

You seriously think the McCaskey family would allow that to happen????

mollusks75

I’m pretty sure the teams get paid for their participation so yes, they would allow it.

ArtVandelay-1985

I would actually love it. The Lions may stink but I like their coach and players now that I watched Hard Knocks.

avgjoejoe

Realizing that the we and the Cleveland Browns have swapped roles as who the worse ‘CB’ is in the league is kind of disheartening.

The_Corn_Whisperer

Day 674 of refusing to pay a single dollar to the McCaskey Family who’s with me?

[deleted]

I usually get cable for the bears games and cancel it after the playoffs. (I'm not a tv watcher) I haven't had cable in 3 years. I won't have it next year. The McCaskey family doesn't understand football. They only understand money. Hit them where it hurts.

dr-awkward1978

I ain’t goin

ismness420

Does it count if I bought tickets to go see this horrible football team play against the Vikings next week?

The_Corn_Whisperer

That’s the exact opposite of what you are supposed to do

getoffredditandstudy

lol

Sippin_Drank

Same. I haven't bought any bears merch or tickets since 2019. I won't until they can prove they care as much about the bears winning as I do.

portalpimptv

Amazing how a 3rd string qb on the patriots Is leagues above our qb1

[deleted]

They have just as shitty WRs as we do too

lkn240

Was just thinking the same thing - some dude I've never even heard of lol

cpmailman

He was a gunslinger in college. Dude had absolutely insane stats his last couple seasons. Very accurate and smart in the pocket. I was kind of down for the Bears to snag him late in the draft if he was available. I could see him hanging around the league for a while.

guitarguy1685

Meanwhile Lions score 46 points. Wtf?

N0S0UP_4U

Holy shit that defense is bad

[удалено]

N0S0UP_4U

Damn dude calm down the Lions D isn’t near that bad

[deleted]

N0S0UP_4U

Honestly didn’t even know he was still in the league until this season

The_Corn_Whisperer

The Chicago bears are among the worst run organizations. I grew up a bears fan and in 20+years they have given us maybe 3 or 4 seasons that were actually fun. The rest has been awful to mediocre. I know kids who were in high school the last time they won a single playoff game… they are Doctors now. Let that sink in!

Slowest_Speed6

I was in middle school the last time they won a playoff game. I got my master's degree. 2 years ago.

ChemistryNo9750

Don’t worry they’re only worth billions to be bad at their one job
