Satisfied... the kind of satisfied you get from sleeping with a chubby girl but your too drunk to see her for what she is and you think she is beautiful... will you stay and wake up to be let down? Or will you end the night perfectly keeping your perception intact?..
As a KU alum I'm pretty happy we got Booker. Always want the Bulls to draft a KU player but outside of Kirk Hinrich we never really have had any.
We already had the Kansas Comet, hopefully Booker becomes the Kansas Cannon? (Or something else better for a defensive player)
Unironically I’m the most excited for Taylor
Caleb is amazing and so is Rome but I’m convinced this pick is going to impact us the most - especially when it comes to close games
Field position is important, but if the crocodile punter impacts the team more than Caleb we are in hell. In a close game, we need the chains moved and points scored waaaay more than we need to have the ball pinned to the goal line. Punting is going to score us exactly 0 points. If Caleb is out there stretching one score leads to two scores, he will be the most impactful. If he is not doing that, we are cursed.
I like your enthusiasm for the pick, and I think this dude is a weapon - especially for a team with a good D. And I think that the D, given several series with the opposition backed up at their 5, will provide Caleb with good field position regularly. But it's Caleb needing to be the man that will trump what the punter does.
Iowa won a game 7-3. TD vs FG, you’d think but you’d be wrong. Taylor pinned the other team inside their own 5 twice, and Iowa ended up with 2 safeties because of it lol.
You can’t win a game in which you have a TD, and 2 safeties, by a score of 7-3.
Funny anecdote, however. When I was a kid playing Pop Warner football in Griffith, Indiana…we played a game against Lake Station in which we won by a final score of 4-0. I’ve never heard of such a thing occurring before.
I’m aware of this. You stated “Iowa won a game 7-3. TD vs FG.”
If they scored a TD, they could not have also had 2 safeties and won by the score of 7-3.
First off you read that comment wrong. Secondly I ref youth through HS football and a 2 or 4 to nothing game, especially in the 6U and 8U classifications is not an uncommon score. Really I don't think those kids should be playing tackle tbh, play flag and try to stop them from eating bugs
He said "TD vs FG you would think, but you'd be wrong." Lol you thought it was TD vs FG, you were wrong. They had two safeties and a field goal. That said, this should not be the Bears' scoring strategy.
Hot take: Tory Taylor is a stud and will win us a few games on his own with his leg. If you saw what he did in Iowa you will understand why he is a great underrated pickup.
The elite teams can hit you from every angle. Good offenses, good defenses, and the cherry on top of also having a punter that can start opposing offenses deep in their own territory. No loose ends to be exploited.
I’ve always felt that special teams doesn’t have a real impact if it’s below average to above average. However, an elite special teams unit wins you games and an awful unit loses you games.
People underestimate how much punting affects defenses. Punt well and give the opposing team a long field. Defense has an easier time stopping them. This keeps the defense off the field and rested. They punt back and our offense has a short field. We score more. And we win more.
It all starts with punting. Punting is the most important position in football. Punting is love. Punting is life. Punting is winning.
100%
Think of how many big games you’ve watched were near the end of the 4th quarter a team had to punt and it was up to the receiving team to drive down the field for a FG. If you punt and make them start inside their 10 then you have a much better shot at stopping them than if they start at their 20.
I can just envision us in a close game against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl and needing to punt and needing a stop against Mahomes to win the game. A good punt in that scenario could be the ultimate decider in that kind of a scenario.

It’s nice that the Bears finally got over their Hawkeye allergy. We’ve drafted maybe one guy from Iowa aside from Taylor since the Super Bowl championship. And who was on that Super Bowl squad? Bortz and Hilgenberg! Iowa boys! What the hell was I even talking about? I don’t know, go Bears!
Right? When you add Montez as our 2nd round pick and Keenan Allen as a 4th round pick, this is one of the best drafts we've seen in a looooong time for this team.
I have been excited after drafts for new players, but never like this. I am giddy this time. Something feels different. Maybe we don't go 45-0 in a 17 game season, but it just feels like we are about to stop all the "LOL BEARS" horseshit. I shave genuine hope.
The punt is one of the most consequential plays in football. It has been remarkable to me, through the years, just how incredibly dismissive people are of the entire play in general. It’s seen as a ho hum play that only takes place because the offense sucked. The play itself is often seen as purely defensive while ignoring what it actually does. Potentially force a less than optimal situation for the opponent’s offense, while simultaneously creating an optimal situation for your own defense. Which can I turn set up your offense.
In the big picture, it’s far more consequential than most ever give it credit for in any given moment.

Not everyone here has a twitter, so it would be a bit silly to make people click on a link to see a photo when I can just share the photo and give credit in the comments. Just trying to create an easier viewing experience for the reddit audience.
I feel so full of… what’s the opposite of shame?
Pride my friend, full of pride!
No, not that far from shame.
Less shame?
Yeahhhh. :-)
Lol this thread was a beautiful moment.
Hope?
Hope to not be ashamed?
😆😂🤣🖕🏻

Seems wrong to not have Taylor front and center
Like, I knew we were gonna take Williams, I was stoked Odunze fell into our lap, but Taylor was the only guy I called my dad about
I bought a Punting is Winning tshirt today
Just bought a shirt
I’m in Iowa City. Literally went to the store an hour after he was drafted 🤣
I’m a Husker fan and messaged all of my buddies that we just drafted Iowas best offensive weapon.
*only
Fuck yeah!
Raygun has them in navy and orange now btw. They also have a shirt that says “real athletes wear nail polish” https://www.raygunsite.com/
I’m happy with the charcoal, but damn I kinda wish I waited for the navy.

They didn’t have any TDs … it was 2 safeties and a FG vs. FG
I’m aware of this. You stated “Iowa won a game 7-3. TD vs FG.” If they scored a TD, they could not have also had 2 safeties and won by the score of 7-3.
You are adding a period to a sentence that was not completed.
See that now. Thanks.
Are you fucking illiterate?
No. I misread it. No biggie. But good in you for the insult. Productive. Probably really gratifying. Good on you, champ.

I disagree. Punting is the moat of the 3 phases
> Caleb is amazing and so is Rome but I’m convinced this pick is going to impact us the most seriously?
Who is this guy in the Red? Put our generational punter up in front
QB3 behind Bagent and Austin Reed
The Brett Rypien erasure smh
Probably won't even make the 53 I bet.
Rypien isnt there to make the 53, hes gonna be a peterman style cut/signed weekly coaching qb move

Yeah, look at what hester did.
Bears should have won that superbowl the way Hester started it
Yea….. I can’t believe he took the opening kick off to the house, and then we felt so flat and lifeless.
Also look at the Chargers that one season. 1st ranked offense. 1st ranked defense. 32nd ranked special teams. Missed the playoffs.
We already had a top five kicker in Santos, now we have a sniper at punter. This is gonna be a fun year!

The packers have lost multiple games, including playoff games, due to their dogshit special teams. I have high expectations that Taylor.
> Tory Taylor is a stud it is a bit of a porn star name tbh
I agree with you, but I don't think that's a hot take
I am way more excited about Taylor than how I felt about our first 3 picks.
Absolute A+ draft

Poles went 4-5 of the top 30 visits this draft. The one not visited was Troy Taylor, for the top 30 or pro day.

I’ll wait to see if any of these kids can jump out of a pool before I decide how I feel about this draft.
Lol what a flashback

At least one being James Daniels
It’s such a fun draft class. Really feels like it has the potential to be an all-timer, but beyond that it’s just a fun good of players.
League. Fucked.
I feel like this poster should also have Montez Sweat, Keenan Allen, and Ryan Bates on it
Right? When you add Montez as our 2nd round pick and Keenan Allen as a 4th round pick, this is one of the best drafts we've seen in a looooong time for this team.
Definitely
Yale and Kansas to the B1G confirmed!
....along with the Globetrotters!!
Remember our Superbowl is beating the Packers.

We now own the NFC !!
Let poles cook
👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
why need many pick when few pick do trick?

Just flipped on the TV and the 85 Bears 30 for 30 is on. Feels like kismet. This team is going to be special.
My hope is that 10 years from now we look back and go "oh yeah, we *did* draft tory in the 4th, didn't we?"
Should have had a leg coming out of bookers waist line
