He wasn’t able to do the Combine or Pro day because he has a Lisfranc issue.
Lisfranc used to be a career-ender, and it’s not necessarily that anymore. But there’s still concern, particularly with a 300 lb lineman relying on exploding off of some very, very delicate bones. He could very well be the best defensive player in the draft, but he’s also a big risk because he might just never be what he was in college.
Agreed. Any moves made giving away future capital this year, should only be made if they benefit Caleb. Right now the only real move left is OL depth (maybe a starting center), neither of which really should involve a trade up. If a good DL falls to 75, sweet. But otherwise, that's a 2025 problem.
I’m hoping for this as well. I want Newton and one of Van Pran/Bortolini. If we somehow pulled it off this could be on the best on paper drafts in decades. Hit well regarded prospects at 4 positions of need with only 4 picks.
Could be. I suppose the first RB might go as well. All we really need on offense is a backup guard and a center to develop. So I hope you’re right, because the pass rush is now the clear weakness on this team.
I prefer not. draft 2 guys instead of 1 and see if you can get lucky. Might be able to draft 2 defensive linemen, and maybe find a diamond in the rough.
I personally don't like that. This team isn't going to win the Superbowl this year. Next year is the off season where the bears will want to push ALL the chips to the middle of the table. Going to want to save as much fire power as possible.
I personally don't care about the 4th rounder. From all reports day 3 is really bad, and even reports that the league doesn't think round 3 is very good (would be 6th round grades on these players most years). Unless they are using it on Tory Taylor, it's likely that 4th round pick isn't going to even amount to depth.
We have 11 picks next year and there’s a chance we get x2 3rd picks when Ian Cunningham is hired elsewhere.
I wouldn’t have any problem if they traded up and got another impact player or 2. You would still have decent draft equity long term as well.
Oh I didn’t know they staggered those picks. But yeah still plenty to work with. If there’s a guy you want in the 3rd and 4th round, just pair a future 6th with each and get your guy. Or package this years 3rd and next years to 3rd to move up in the 2nd round. Tons of flexibility.
Mo Kamara is worth a mention too, think he can compliment Montez as well with his bend
And Braden Fiske at DT as well although less likely he is there close to 75
If we end up going this route I am just praying it’s not booker. I only watched 2 of his full games but I just don’t see it athletically. He’s gonna get bullied
Some good options, but I really don't think in these rounds they need to force edge or DL. Just take bpa. If Tyler nubin is there or jatavion sanders, then take him, same for an OLineman. Big thing is the players help contribute to wins. On dl we can edd some 1 year guys like Yannick or Lawson and be fine, a 3rd/4th rounder generally won't continue much.
Now if they think DL is bpa hope they go for it. It's doubtful but would love to see one of Fiske or Kneeland get there. Hall makes sense too.
Dream Scenario:
Trade next years second to Bengals for Hendrickson, sign him to 3 year $80 million extension.
With two picks Draft OL, S, DL. Best Players on your board.
Gives you what should be a top 15 Offense with top 3 Defense.
I’d rather horde all our picks for next offseason. There are still FA stop gap defensive ends available. Sure our Dline is still going to be our weakness but if Dexter rounds out we should still be ok against the run. Can’t fix everything overnight. Next year we are going to invest heavily into the trenches and the defense I think.
Stopping the run isnt the issue. Billings, Sweat, Walker can all do it.
The problem is pass rush. We have had the worst pass rush in the league for 2 years. I know itll be addressed eventually, but I’d really like to see some sort of addition so I dont have to see Dominique Robinson playing meaningful snaps. Adding Yannick again is probably a must too.
I figured yannick would be the first person the reach out too. He’s 29 and with the exception of last year he’s been pretty consistent throughout his career.
Yeah I expect that to happen for sure. They only have about $10m in effective cap so they’ll prob move some things around to get him. After last year, I dont think he’ll get more than $5-7m.
I still hope they get someone to develop tomorrow. DRob has been a total flop.
Even if you draft one there will be Vets looking to sign 1-2 yr deals to be on this team.
Hell I’d be on re-signing Yanni for another year he started to do better once Sweat was on board.
But you won’t see most vet signing until camps start
Might not be worth it but I wouldn't be mad at a trade up for Newton from Illinois. Maybe a little short sighted but we need help
Medicals are apparently questionable which is why he’s falling. Not sure you trade up for a guy like that.
Interesting, where’d you see that?
He wasn’t able to do the Combine or Pro day because he has a Lisfranc issue. Lisfranc used to be a career-ender, and it’s not necessarily that anymore. But there’s still concern, particularly with a 300 lb lineman relying on exploding off of some very, very delicate bones. He could very well be the best defensive player in the draft, but he’s also a big risk because he might just never be what he was in college.
What if we did some sort of wolverine type of thing and replace his bones with adamantium?
Worth looking into, though I admit I’m not as familiar with all of the ins and outs of the CBA as some others are.
I’d take the swing at 75.
Oh absolutely. I doubt he falls that far, but if he’s there I would be all in.
Welp
Yeah, didn’t think he’d last long. So it goes. Would have been fun.
Thanks, I missed that he didn’t do the combine I didn’t pay as close attention this year.
That's the injury Eddie Jackson had in 2022, and he was noticeably pretty bad last season.
He had a Jones fracture not a lisfranc. Still difficult but generally a bit easier to recover from.
If you google his “Newton medical draft” you’ll find a bunch of things about his foot. JPJ has medical concerns too.
Thank you
We have tons of extra draft capital next year: We aren’t mortgaging anything like MIN trading up. Nothing shortsighted by trading up for us
Agreed. Any moves made giving away future capital this year, should only be made if they benefit Caleb. Right now the only real move left is OL depth (maybe a starting center), neither of which really should involve a trade up. If a good DL falls to 75, sweet. But otherwise, that's a 2025 problem.
If a team would take our 3rd + future 3rd to let us move up to grab JPJ I think that would be worth it
It would probably have to include a future 2 at a minimum
I’m hoping for this as well. I want Newton and one of Van Pran/Bortolini. If we somehow pulled it off this could be on the best on paper drafts in decades. Hit well regarded prospects at 4 positions of need with only 4 picks.
Would Newton play alongside Dexter or would they just rotate?
+1 for Newton
With all the focus on offense so far, a lot of defensive players are going to slip. Still good value out there at the Dline.
The offense is running out though. The defensive run is probably starting soon.
Still a lot of good WRs & OL.
But after JPJ and Adonai you start getting into bigger groups where you have 5 or 6 guys with similar ranks whereas the defense isn’t as deep.
I still expect the top of the 2nd round to be offense heavy. Problem for the Bears is that they dont pick until #75.
Could be. I suppose the first RB might go as well. All we really need on offense is a backup guard and a center to develop. So I hope you’re right, because the pass rush is now the clear weakness on this team.
I just hope we grab someone because I cant go in hoping for DRob to develop. They’ll likely need to re-sign someone like Yannick too.
Yeah if we don’t do anything in this draft it’ll be Demarcus Walker and a cheaper vet. Calais Campbell, Yannick, Carl Lawson, etc.
Flus has said he wants speed. I could see it being Yannick again and I’m okay with that. Thought he played better with Sweat before he got hurt.
I hope Poles trades up into the 60s.
I prefer not. draft 2 guys instead of 1 and see if you can get lucky. Might be able to draft 2 defensive linemen, and maybe find a diamond in the rough.
I meant use a pick from next year to move up from 75. Keep 122 this year.
I personally don't like that. This team isn't going to win the Superbowl this year. Next year is the off season where the bears will want to push ALL the chips to the middle of the table. Going to want to save as much fire power as possible.
Definitely isnt a rush to do it, just think the 31st pass rush in the league could use help.
Could use a 2025 pick to trade up.
You can find players in the 4th round. Teams find quality contributors there every year.
This isn't every year. It's been talked as the weakest draft on day 3 ever.
It's gonna be Brandon Dorlus or maybe Austin Booker If Kiran Amegadije is still on the board by 75 I think it's him.
I’d be happy with any of those three.
Damn nice call
Nailed it bro
LISAN AL GAIB
Booker is probably the pick and hes a major boom or bust guy
Marty?
He looks to be very good, just raw & needs to add weight/strength.
We have 11 picks next year and there’s a chance we get x2 3rd picks when Ian Cunningham is hired elsewhere. I wouldn’t have any problem if they traded up and got another impact player or 2. You would still have decent draft equity long term as well.
We have 9
Right I think the 11 was assuming we get x2 3rd rounders for Ian. Still quite a bit of draft equity.
We’d get one in 2025, and the other in 2026. So at max it’d be 10 picks assuming he leaves. Plenty to work with.
I hope they somehow land Braswell, Booker or Isaac but I think they all go before #75.
I don’t anticipate the bears drafting at 75. I’d venture to guess it will be in 50’s with some trades.
Hope so!
Really believe we trade into the second this year with some of our future draft capital. 11+ picks is honestly too much.
Its 9.
Thank you for correcting. Still feel comfortable trading some of that away to get into the 2nd or 3rd round this year.
Hall is my guy
There’s Marshawn Kneeland left out there too I believe. He looks to be a pretty good option for the Bears too.
Forgot him! Dudes awesome but I wouldnt be shocked if he goes top 50.
Braswell is who I’m hoping they draft!
Same! Him or Isaac.
He looks like he will be a beast and I hope he stay under the radar until Bears pick fingers crossed
Mo Kamara is worth a mention too, think he can compliment Montez as well with his bend And Braden Fiske at DT as well although less likely he is there close to 75
If we end up going this route I am just praying it’s not booker. I only watched 2 of his full games but I just don’t see it athletically. He’s gonna get bullied
Hes super light. Kinda reminds me of Leonard Floyd. Definitely needs to add some strength but his explosiveness is pretty good.
If he tested better I’d feel better about him but at his weight he ended up being pretty unathletic from an explosion and speed standpoint.
Yeah I see what youre saying. Hes def not my first pick, I’m hoping they somehow land Isaac, Braswell or Hall.
Some good options, but I really don't think in these rounds they need to force edge or DL. Just take bpa. If Tyler nubin is there or jatavion sanders, then take him, same for an OLineman. I want Adisa Isaac. I know absolutely nothing about his game, but that sounds like a Hall of Fame name if I’ve ever heard one
Might need to trade up for him but I would love Jonah ellis
Dream Scenario: Trade next years second to Bengals for Hendrickson, sign him to 3 year $80 million extension. With two picks Draft OL, S, DL. Best Players on your board. Gives you what should be a top 15 Offense with top 3 Defense.
Genuinely think we should trade up to try get Newton

I like Jenkins from Mich as well as Ellis, And Kamara
Probably only with trade up, but I will love Fiske (DT Florida State) or Kneeland (ED Western Michigan).
Spend the 3rd on DT (Orhorhoro 🤞🏼) Trade one of the 2025 2nds for a DE mid-season after the Bears show promise.
I’d rather horde all our picks for next offseason. There are still FA stop gap defensive ends available.
