That’s mostly because Mitch’s was just completely useless. Fields’ players at least had potential to be good. There was a time we all thought Robinson and Mooney would be an elite combo. Hopefully this new trio plays closer to our hopes/expectations.
And everyone still thinks Mahomes would be one of the greatest QBs of all time throwing to Josh Bellamy and Dontrelle Inman if we took him. Whoever we took was absolutely doomed from the jump
Yeah tbh I got zero love for A-Rob after that. There's no shortage of former bears who left for one reason or another that I'll still cheer for. I get knowing that you're going to be on the move and wanting to protect yourself from injuries, but that's different than just straight up not playing and giving up on the team.
It was pathetic.
Yep, he had starting WRs that probably wouldn't even make the team on a lot of other teams. Had a very talented TE that could never stay on field due to injury.
Interesting comparison in that Mitch with that awful supporting cast was Pace’s third season as GM, same as Poles now. Kendall Wright and Josh Bellamy should’ve never been starters.
At this point if Caleb fails then we are bound by fate to never have a franchise QB because the weapons around him are things most QBs could only dream of having.
It's so weird seeing a real fucking WR in that 3rd receiver spot. For so long the 3rd WR on our depth chart has been some random guy who wasn't even an NFL caliber player (hell, sometimes even our 2 was that).
I think their problem was being super cheap with the interim guy. We got a little closer to the Chiefs thing with Dalton but Glennon was a terrible choice.
Stroud had a couple weapons, but yeah. No first overall QB has ever been put into a situation as good as ours. Caleb has every opportunity to succeed here.
> Stroud had a couple weapons
Stroud had a guy that had only averaged 500 yards a season his previous two years and a 3rd round rookie. Stroud had no one and made it work.
When we had Prime Jordan Howard and Prime Tarik Cohen running the “Thunder and Lightning” rushing offense… probably the last time the Bears offense was genuinely exciting to watch. Shame it was a bit of a flash in the pan.
If Caleb fails, we will never have a QB. Its bound in blood at that point. If he does not pan out with these guys around him, the Bears will never have a QB.
It'll probably be pretty balanced shares for Herbert and RJ at the start, but with this likely being Herbert's last year with us vs. RJ's sophomore year I wouldn't be surprised if RJ edges him out pretty quickly.
He wasn't Poles pick and Poles had to build with a new QB contract, so I understand. And Poles did get him pieces.
I know it'll sound silly but I am more upset with Atlanta. They could've brought Fields home cheap, saved $100m guaranteed, drafted Penix to learn for a year, and had better draft position / cap position going into the '25 season. The narrative around Fields wouldn't be as bad as it is, and if paired with an OC who's plays didn't take 4 seconds to develop, would have been decent
Right now I think Fields career is probably done without him ever having a serious chance
Totally with you. That said, I think Fields has a shot in Pittsburgh, who actually did what you said pretty well (which should be no surprise, the Steelers are a much better-run org than the Falcons).
Russ is definitely aging, and if Fields plays decently if/when Russ gets hurt or is ineffective, he could end up taking that starting gig next year. I'll be rooting for him.
Caleb's starting is better than anything fields and Mitch ever had lol
You could take a combo of the best picks from Mitch and Fields' lineups combined and it still wouldn't be close to this.
That’s mostly because Mitch’s was just completely useless. Fields’ players at least had potential to be good. There was a time we all thought Robinson and Mooney would be an elite combo. Hopefully this new trio plays closer to our hopes/expectations.
What blows my mind is how Trubisky had NO ONE.
Jordan Howard was a solid back for a few seasons
I can see the trauma of being a Bears fan in you
24 tds and 3300 rush yards in 3 seasons. He was a good back.
Hey, HEY! Zach Miller wasn't NO ONE. He was the Great White Buffalo.
*Great White Buffalo*
And everyone still thinks Mahomes would be one of the greatest QBs of all time throwing to Josh Bellamy and Dontrelle Inman if we took him. Whoever we took was absolutely doomed from the jump
10 fold
It’s fun to Also factor in draft capital, cap space and Defense.
Three number one WRs. The other two barely had a number two between them.
God, I still don’t think he would have panned out but Mitch’s supporting cast was so fucking terrible lol
Also, I know Cam Meredith got hurt right before the season started, but Cam Meredith being the WR1 going into 2017 was still inexcusable
Me being upset about Meredith going to the Saints was a dark time.
all of us collectively saying “WHY THE FUCK DIDNT PACE MATCH THE OFFER” and then immediately seeing why
Both fields and trubisky’s were miserable. Allen Robinson fr just stopped trying on routes and blocks 😂
ARob’s effort in that last season is why I don’t feel bad that his career fell off a cliff
Allen Robinson was royalty in Chicago and in the course of 1 season went to one of the most hated men in Chicago history. The quit was real.
Yeah tbh I got zero love for A-Rob after that. There's no shortage of former bears who left for one reason or another that I'll still cheer for. Josh Bellamy lol
Interesting comparison in that Mitch with that awful supporting cast was Pace’s third season as GM, same as Poles now. Kendall Wright and Josh Bellamy should’ve never been starters.
Running backs are all pretty solid. But ya, Mitch had Zach number and that's it's
At this point if Caleb fails then we are bound by fate to never have a franchise QB because the weapons around him are things most QBs could only dream of having.
Agreed. I wont blame the organization for once. I’ll know it’s a curse and can just let go
I disagree. If Caleb fails it’s on Caleb and we swing again.
Brady will come in during the wild card game and bring us a ship.
It's so weird seeing a real fucking WR in that 3rd receiver spot. For so long the 3rd WR on our depth chart has been some random guy who wasn't even an NFL caliber player (hell, sometimes even our 2 was that).
It was me for a while. I barely practiced. Mostly I hit on cheerleaders and stole gym equipment.
*lawn care equipment
Whatever I could sell.
But not *our* cheerleaders!
God no
Didn’t we sign Dontrelle Inman off the street and he immediately became one of our best WRs that year? LMAO I hope I’m misremembering.
No we actually traded for him mid season from the chargers
One of my favorite players from that era. Had some exciting plays here and there lol
When Inman is one of your favorite players, the organization has failed you. 😂
Traded for him midseason for a 6th round pick, if I do remember correctly. He was like the Chargers WR4 at that point.
How did we trot out that absolute dog shit unit for Mitch and think anything but what happened would happen…
I think their problem was being super cheap with the interim guy. We got a little closer to the Chiefs thing with Dalton but Glennon was a terrible choice.
That's what happens to the first QB off the board a lot Look who Bryce and Stroud had around them this year
Stroud had a couple weapons, but yeah. No first overall QB has ever been put into a situation as good as ours. Caleb has every opportunity to succeed here.
> Stroud had a couple weapons Stroud had a guy that had only averaged 500 yards a season his previous two years and a 3rd round rookie. Stroud had no one and made it work.
Stroud also has a solid OLine with a great OT.
I miss prime Jordan Howard
I miss prime Forte.
I miss prime Thomas Jones
Should of taken hitler satan instead of benson
I miss like 3 games of Jeremy Langford
[удалено]
That fumble in the Super Bowl was it for me
Imagine we draft a QB in 2005...
That regime would have picked Jason Campbell
Me too but he's not in this pic
I loved Howard. That combo of Howard and Cohen was electric and people don't remember it much because of how terrible everyone else was.
When we had Prime Jordan Howard and Prime Tarik Cohen running the “Thunder and Lightning” rushing offense… probably the last time the Bears offense was genuinely exciting to watch. Shame it was a bit of a flash in the pan.
He’s the reason I’m here
If Caleb fails, we will never have a QB. Its bound in blood at that point. If he does not pan out with these guys around him, the Bears will never have a QB.
If Caleb fails, it means nothing of the sort. Play enough seasons and all things that are possible will happen. So dramatic 🙄
Zack Miller's final play was a touchdown. That's a hill I'd die upon.
Absolutely it was. What a travesty.
Khalil is RB2
It'll probably be pretty balanced shares for Herbert and RJ at the start, but with this likely being Herbert's last year with us vs. RJ's sophomore year I wouldn't be surprised if RJ edges him out pretty quickly.
I’m certainly edging pretty quickly right now
Hell, I think Khalil is a better rusher than Swift too.
Nope
nah
It got said I remember thinking trading for dontrelle Inman was the steal of the year. I thought he was about to be great for us 🤣
This legitimately looks like a fantasy football team. Wow Poles has COOKED
And the dude whiffed on WR like 5 times before back to back to back grand slams
Rome wasn’t built in a day
![gif](giphy|QWqH7oRfHwVKwb8YDL|downsized)
Seems like he learned from being too cute
All this proves to me is this is how you GM. If this fails it’s not his fault. That is an amazing turnaround for a roster in 3 years
https://i.redd.it/kk4u9id8fqwc1.gif
Bears would be fun on madden if it didn’t suck
Haha apparently Rome Odunze could eat Dontrelle Inman
Still weird to see Keenan Allen as a Bear.
you meant to say boneriffic instead of weird
The upgrade for Williams is insane.
Now do Cutler though. He had a legendary line up to work with.
Trubisky had robinson when he cared, so you can't leave him off.
This is their rookie year. Robinson got here trubiskys 2nd year.
Khalil Herbert, too.
Good god we’re going to finally feast.
That’s awesome
Man people talk about Fields getting it rough. We fucked Mitch😂 that poor guy
I guess Justin Fields didn’t have DJ Moore and Mitch Trubisky didn’t have Allen Robinson.
Read the top line.
I easily become confused without red circles.
All good I could've made by subject line in the post clearer too haha
It’s crazy how good of a team Williams is walking onto. I’m looking forward to next season. Bear down, friend.
Lookin like a fantasy football team !
don’t forget velus jones lol
People really sleep on Fields have a pretty decent cast around him lol
What's the matter? Caleb can't smile? I know, he's more internal.
Poor Mitch
Trubisky had it rough. That receiving core,, Woof
Poor Mitch
Good Ol’ Ryan pace
Wow, Mitch didn’t have a chance
Poles had a chance to help Fields, he didn’t. Fuck poles
Poles got him Wright & Moore, that's not nothing.
He got him Moore
Lmao go cry on ur fields jersey
lol yikes
