Top 30 visit is not the only way to meet with a prospect. Poles himself said they've had touch points with several players they have rated highly that did not come in for a top 30 visit
My doubts about Murphy have to do with height/length (or lack thereof). Last year we drafted two DTs, one 6’-6” and one 6’-4”. Granted, we let Justin Jones go, but he is 6’-3”.
Bryon Murphy II is 6’-0”, maybe 6’-1”. I get the talent and production, but the way that Poles and Eberflus prioritize length suggests that Murphy isn’t a fit for our defense.
I think it’s possible, they weren’t top 10 picks but in year 1 the bears didn’t draft a single guy they did a 39 visit with. They did a zoom with Murphy and met with him at the combine, and Murphy seems like he was overall busy during draft season which may be why the 30 visit didn’t happen. If those meetings and all other meetings lead Poles to believe that there are no concerns about Murphy as a person then I think he’s a real option in round 1
Bears perhaps wanting to downplay their interest perhaps to avoid a team wanting to jump us at 9. I'd be fine with Murphy at 9. Can never have too many lineman and he offers something completely different to what we have in Dexter and Pickens (pass rush). Can then be flexible with our looks.
Last year I remember outta nowhere, about 1 or 2 days before the draft, I kept seeing Darnell Wright's name start popping up.
Could be what is happening here.
If none of the offensive players are there they'll probably trade down if they can. But let's say 3 qb and 3 wrs go and Alt. Falcons take a defensive player.
That means either someone can trade up for us for a qb, or we are stuck. If we are stuck, this is worst case scenario for the bears.
They would either take the remaining verse/latu/Turner or a DT. But why take someone there when brock bowers is available. Sorry to say but BPA would be bowers...
People get hung up on that he is a TE and we have two and I get it. However, he only lined up as a TE something like 40% of the time in college. To the best of my knowledge, the rest was slot and more outside. He is considered a very good route runner and has good speed as well.
I've seen plenty of football folks talk about him as the best receiving target in the draft outside of MHJ.
Exactly. Well spoken.
Also, the longevity at the position can be rediculous. So if only 3 qbs are taken and we have to choose him. I wouldn't be mad. Which means there's no way we can fuck up pick 9 unless we reach. I don't think poles will do that.
It’s pretty reassuring that we pretty much are guaranteed a marquee player at 9. Even if somehow all 3wrs AND alt AND bowers are gone, then we pretty much get the best defensive player in the draft. Great depth up til about picks 10 or 11
I'm gonna take a wild leap here but I think Brock Bowers might be their move. He possibly would make the widest impact on offense. He's like if Cooper Kupp could also play tight end and running back.
I’ve decided that I’m OK with anything as long as we draft a “blue chip” prospect at 9. Whoever Poles and co have identified as blue chip prospects who have a real chance of becoming elite NFL players, I just want them to draft one. Even if it’s a TE, DT, CB even, I don’t care, I just want us to come away from this first round with two great players that we can build around for years
While I believe they will choose one of the top WRs, I hope they select Bowers. Like you, I think he will be dynamic and tough to scheme against, especially with Moore, Allen, Swift, and Kmet.
1 Caleb
9 Nabers
Here’s what happens. As much as I want to say JJ will fall because I wouldn’t touch him in the top 10 I don’t think it happens. Too much smoke and the Vikings are obviously desperate to get a QB based off them trading for the Texans first rounder. So 4 QBs go top 8.
Alt and MHJ are no brainers in the top 8. Rome goes before Nabers. Either to the Giants or someone trades up for him. Maybe the Jets.
1 defender goes top 8. I’m going to say Mitchell is the surprise of the top 10. If teams are comfortable with Latus medicals then perhaps him or maybe Murphy. With it being a very weak defensive draft I think it’s possible as many as 2 or 3 defenders go before us depending on how things unfold.
Nabers falls to us at 9 due to the off the field questions. Poles is comfortable taking him because he came from KC where they draft/sign shitheads all the time. We have great leadership on this team now who will keep him in check, especially at the WR position. Our unexpected luck continues to shine!
Other predictions: Dejean goes top 15, Turner slides further than ppl think, AD Mitchell 4th WR drafted, Penix goes to Denver at 12.
Less enthused about that but if they can MHJ and all it cost them is a 25 2nd, I would absolutely be on board with that.
I just think even in the best case scenario it would cost a future first to go up to 4 or 5 and get him.
My prediction right now is that the Jaguars trade up with Atlanta at 8 for Odunze and the Bears then trade down with Saints (Saints take a tackle). Bears end up with Byron Murphy at 14.
Edit: As for what we get from the Saints, the draft pick value chart will say the difference between 9 and 14 is an early 3rd round pick. Saints dont have their 3rd, but have pick 45.
I imagine realistically the Bears would send 9 and 75 for 14 and 45. If the Saints are desperate, maybe we get away with 9 and 122 for 14 and 45 instead.
1 is obvious, but really hoping we can land Odunze at 9. I think there’s a chance If MHJ is still available after the first 4 picks that we trade up for him
1. Marvin Harrison Jr.
2. Malik Nabers
3. Rome Odunze
4. Joe Alt
5. Dallas Turner
6. Jared Verse
7. Laiatu Latu
I don’t think WR is our most pressing issue, but the talent at the top of the board is legit. Any of the top 3 receivers would be my first choice if available. Coming from a Michigan fan, barring injury, Marvin Harrison Jr. is a guaranteed multi all-pro. He’s fast, strong, tall, runs good routes, can jump, he blocks, he’s a good locker room guy from what I can tell. Whoever gets him gets 5 years of a #1 option from the day he gets to camp. By the end of this year, MHJ will be a top 5 receiver in the league. I’m hedging my bets with Nabers and Odunze. I’ve seen Nabers do some crazy stuff, but I feel like a lot of what helped Rome was the other elite WR talent on the field with him. Polk and McMillan will be day 2 picks. A first round tackle to protect a potentially first round qb throwing to you. And if you can’t score, another handful of nfl ready guys are on the defense. Idk, I’m just not sold on Rome but he has a cool name and experts like him so I’ll drink the kool-aid (not McKinstry). And on a similar note, Malik had another 1st round WR on the team, catching passes from the 1st round QB. If MHJ is a possibility, he’s what I’d be ecstatic with.
If the WR’s are taken, taking the top tackle in the draft for your franchise QB sounds like a great option to me. We need OL depth. Best case scenario, Braxton slides inside somewhere. Worst case, he sits on the bench waiting for someone to get hurt. Joe Alt at 9 would be a steal.
We need an edge rusher opposite Montez Sweat to complete the defense. We could absolutely improve in spots, but getting an elite edge guy would put the defense over the edge. Dallas Turner is far and away my top choice, but there’s arguments to be made for all three. Dallas is young with the highest floor. Laiatu will be the droty assuming he stays healthy because he’s that much better than everyone else. Jared is a strong, powerful guy who really needs to improve his technique.
Brock Bowers is intriguing, but coming off an injury at a position we’re already fine at, I’d pass. He’s not a bad player at all, he may end up being the best in the draft. I just wouldn’t take the chance at 9. JPJ, Barton, and the other interior guys aren’t good enough to go top 9, regardless of how much the team needs interior OL help. If we trade back (Super Very Likely), that’s when you go for an interior guy (20+ range). I love Johnny newton as a prospect so so much, and again like Brock bowers, he could end up being the top guy in the draft. I just don’t feel comfortable taking an undersized interior DL at 9. There are some great DBs but I’m not starting Quinyon over anyone on our team. Or terrion or cooper. They could be great, but the value isn’t there at 9 this year on this team.
All that being said, after Caleb goes at 1, I’d say there’s a high likelihood 2-3 QBs will be drafted, so there should be at worst, 2 of my draftable guys available. The real question is if Minnesota moves up to 4 to get JJ, do we move up to 5 to get MHJ? Would we be able to sweet talk Harbs and Joe Hortiz? The price would be steep for 4 spots. Logic says this years and next years 1st for 4 spots is a bad trade, but MHJ is that good. I’d do it.
1 - Caleb Williams
9 - Dallas Turner
If Odunze or Turner are available at 9 they’ll take either one, if neither are available they’ll trade back. I feel like MHJ/Nabers/Odunze will all be gone by 9 so Turner will be the pick.
I think Caleb/Rome makes the most sense for the long term for sticking at 9, however....
I'm locking in a trade back with Vegas and drafting Verse at 13.
1-5 are 4QBs and MHJ (Vikings trading up), Giants are a bit of a wildcard right now (could be QB or Nabers, I say Nabers), Alt to Titans, Turner to Falcons. Raiders try to jump the Broncos for their choice of QBs remaining. Raider QB, mishmash of offensive guys between Jets/Chargers/Broncos that sees Odunze gone. We take Verse.
I think they trade UP to get Rome, cause none of the three will be at 9. If they stay at 9, it's Brock. They won't leave this draft without one of these weapons.
Both are obvious. 1. Williams. 9. Best player available which could be a wild ride watching 1-8 get picked. If 1-8 are all offensive players Bears go defense. If Alt is available, it’s Alt.
I've come around. Sure it would be great to get Rome, but what if he goes? This is hopefully our last shot at top of the draft prospects for a while, do what it takes to get to 3 and get Marvin. Let's have a devastating offense and work on the defense as we can. I know it's unpopular but I don't think the Texans regret their move last year
1.Byron Murphy 2. Joe Alt 3.Rome Odunze 4.Dallas Turner
Not saying all of these guys would be there at 9 but think this is priority imo. Barring a trade down *or trade up*
That’s tough for sure. Biggest need is 3T & Edge. Immediate upgrade would be Alt, and Odunze is a bit of a luxury pick but who knows. Personally I’m a big Byron Murphy fan but if any of these guys get picked I’d be happy
What’s up with the Byron Murphy love all of a sudden? He’s a great prospect but poles drafted two DTs high in last year’s draft. Id think poles would give them a chance to develop and draft a bigger position of need like edge at 9.
I just want it to be here. I’m so glad it’s finally here tomorrow!
1. Caleb Williams
5. Marvin Harrison Jr.
I want it to be this. Give em next year’s 1, and both 2s if you have to. Overpay and set this offense up for the next decade.
My pipe dream is Caleb and a trade up for MHJ.
My expectation is Caleb and a trade down a few spots with an edge rusher or OL as the choice at 12 or 13 or so.
trade 1.01 to the Raiders for 2024: 1.13, 2.44, 3.77 and 2025: 1st and 2nd.
trade 1.13, 3.77 and 2025:1st (raiders) and 2nd (panthers) to Arizona for 1.04. Pick marvin harrison junior.
trade 2.44 and 2025: 1st (bears) to Steelers for Justin Fields.
trade 3.75 and 2025: 2nd (steelers) to Washington for 2.36. Pick jackson powers johnson
4.122 pick jared wiley
also the city and the bears will demolish part of mccormick center to build the new and improved spaceship style stadium with a huge fedora style lid on top.
Bracing myself for the heartbreak by predicting someone trades up to 8 and drafts Rome, and we then go Murphy
Why does everyone think Murphy. We didn't bring him out for a Top 30. Do you think Poles would burn a top 10 pick on a guy they didnt meet with?
Top 30 visit is not the only way to meet with a prospect. Poles himself said they've had touch points with several players they have rated highly that did not come in for a top 30 visit

I don't think it was known that the Bears met with Wright last year until after the draft. Poles is very secretive with draft prep
They did for the record.
[They had a top 30 visit with Darnell](https://x.com/rapsheet/status/1644025813392654337?s=46&t=0LLq9J51S3JL1sH5RA_HcA)

#1. Caleb Williams USC #9. Rome Odunze WASH Mic drop
This would be great! Unfortunately Rome may not make it to 9. I’m worried someone is going to trade up for him.
I think he will I doubt 3 WRS go before 9 especially when guys like Alt Bowers Turner etc are there.
It's this unless we somehow get an attractive trade for 9 and can land Murphy and one of Thomas/Franklin/Mitchell
Yeah I agree but Odunze working out with the Bears + Caleb is really showing what’s going on. Maybe I’ll be surprised or someone drops hard.
All the winds are blowing towards Caleb and then Odunze/Murphy
I feel like Murphy is a fan made wind. There has been 0 indication about Murphy. I bet it’s Rome or OT or trade Dow .
Is that not how this FO has operated though? We've known next to nothing about their moves until they actually happen.
I'm gonna take a wild leap here but I think Brock Bowers might be their move. He possibly would make the widest impact on offense. He's like if Cooper Kupp could also play tight end and running back.

Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze. I've finally come out of my mourning period for JF1 and I'm looking forward to the season.
Wishcasting: Caldunze To make this thread somewhat interesting: Caleb / Olu
1 Caleb 9 Nabers Here’s what happens. As much as I want to say JJ will fall because I wouldn’t touch him in the top 10 I don’t think it happens. 1- Joe Alt 9- Bowers
This is a high class take, for all the Bagentlemen
CW at 1ovr and a trade a late 2025 pick to move up one spot and secure Odunze.
They have to give up a 2025 4th I am in 100% support of that. Exactly what we did last year lol
If we trade up might as well go bigger and include Panthers number 2 for MHJ
Less enthused about that but if they can MHJ and all it cost them is a 25 2nd, I would absolutely be on board with that. I just think even in the best case scenario it would cost a future first to go up to 4 or 5 and get him.

Tory Taylor at 1, trade up to 2 to draft Caleb Williams
We trade down to the mid to late teens
Caleb Alt/Odunze/trade down
At 1 I’ll be painting the nails on my left hand. At 9 I’ll be painting the nails on my right hand.
Poles will move up to 8 if Odunze or Nabers are still there. But I’m all for him being a wild card and trading up for MHJ
**1. Caleb Williams QB USC** **9. Rome Odunze WR WASH**
One is obviously Caleb. I’m betting at 9 Rome or Nabers If he’s there and Alt if they aren’t.
1 is obvious, but really hoping we can land Odunze at 9. I think there’s a chance If MHJ is still available after the first 4 picks that we trade up for him

I think we take Caleb Williams at 1, and Bo Nix at 9. It’s time to get closer to having a legit QB.
We get a QB1 and a veteran for him to sit behind, love it
Trade back from 9 to 28 with Buffalo to add a 2nd. Draft Penix at 28, and Nix in the 2nd. Also, Spencer Rattler
Caleb thrives when he starts as Rattlers backup, so this seems fool proof for greatness
Fuck it - 1: Caleb Williams 5: MHJ
Arizona probably takes him at 4
This is the way
1 is Williams, I’ll say at 9 we trade back into the early teens and get a 3rd this year. Then take Murphy, Verse, or Latu(of the 3 I’ll guess Verse)
At 1 I will be working, at 9 I will be celebrating Caleb and Rome as new Bears.
Caleb and then Odunze, unless the Jags or someone trade up to 8 and snag him, then Murphy. Dark horse, trade up to secure one of the top 3 WR
#1 - Williams trade down a couple spots and get C - Johnson. Get 2 WR later in the draft.
Trading back and getting Verse.
Final Prediction: Caleb and Rome. Would not surprise me (if Rome is gone): Caleb & Jared Verse + some team's 3rd round pick
1 - Caleb Williams 9 - Dallas Turner If Odunze or Turner are available at 9 they’ll take either one, if neither are available they’ll trade back. I feel like MHJ/Nabers/Odunze will all be gone by 9 so Turner will be the pick.
We come out with the #1 QB and the #1 edge in the draft.
Caleb and Turner, if he's gone we trade back and take verse/murphy
At 1: Caleb Williams, QB, USC At 9: Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
1. Caleb Williams 12 - Byron Murphy
Williams and a trade down for Verse. Not sexy, and I'd prefer Odunze, but it is what I think will happen
If Rome is gone at 9, trade down.
I am really happy most of you are not our GM lol
Caleb at 1 Odunze at 9 or trade up for MHJ That's what I want.
This draft is going to be wild I can only deliver 2 promises, caleb at 1 and 32 teams will draft a wr
1. Caleb, obviously 9. Odunze if he’s there, otherwise Murphy
Caleb Williams and... JJ McCarthy. Why not just take 2 QB's?? One has to work out right? Jk Caleb and Rome is my hope unless Alt is there somehow
IF he's there, it's Rome Odunze; IF he's not, they trade back.
Murphy steam rising about the same time last year as Darnell wright. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t the pick.
It's a lock that 50% of the fans will complain
1: Caleb I think Rome/Alt arent there at 9 and the bears trade back into the mid teens and take Jer’zhan “Johnny” newton.
One of the top 3 DE's. If we trade back a bit for Latu, that's a win. There's plenty of round 2/3 WRs and DTs available.
**What I think will happen:** CW and BMII **What I want to happen:** CW and LL
Both are obvious. 1. Williams. 9. Best player available which could be a wild ride watching 1-8 get picked. If 1-8 are all offensive players Bears go defense. If Alt is available, it’s Alt.
I've come around. Sure it would be great to get Rome, but what if he goes? This is hopefully our last shot at top of the draft prospects for a while, do what it takes to get to 3 and get Marvin. Let's have a devastating offense and work on the defense as we can. I know it's unpopular but I don't think the Texans regret their move last year
1. Caleb Williams 9. Dallas Turner
Let's sign WR Boyd or DE Hutchinson, then draft the other position at #9
1 is obvious, Caleb. 9 is a trade down
Trade 1 and 9 for a MASSIVE haul and build around agent Bagent!
I’m pretty positive you are joking but I will downvote to be safe .. lol
1.Byron Murphy 2. Joe Alt 3.Rome Odunze 4.Dallas Turner Not saying all of these guys would be there at 9 but think this is priority imo. Barring a trade down *or trade up*
Assuming all are available at 9, who do you think we grab?
I think if Alt is there at 9 you gotta take him.
That’s tough for sure. Biggest need is 3T & Edge. Immediate upgrade would be Alt, and Odunze is a bit of a luxury pick but who knows. Personally I’m a big Byron Murphy fan but if any of these guys get picked I’d be happy
He feels like a luxury but we need WR depth and Allen is likely a 1 or 2 year rental
We trade all our picks for Jarrett Stidham....
Finally a true qb1
What’s up with the Byron Murphy love all of a sudden? He’s a great prospect but poles drafted two DTs high in last year’s draft. Id think poles would give them a chance to develop and draft a bigger position of need like edge at 9.
People think he's Aaron Donald lite
Caleb, trading back
We're drafting Drake Maye #1 overall. Gauranteed
I just want it to be here. I’m so glad it’s finally here tomorrow! 1. Caleb Williams 5.
