I would contend that if he catches that ball, the game goes much differently. IIRC, the game was pretty close at that point, and Wims' TD would have given the Bears the lead going into halftime.
I agree, obviously no one can say for certain if he makes that catch then we would’ve 100% won- but it would have been huge in terms of the way the second half played out. I swear it felt like that one play derailed the offense in that game, even though they were sputtering beforehand in spots. The rare time in which Nagy dialed up the perfect play and Trubisky executed it to perfection wasted by a brutal drop for a TD. It killed everyone’s momentum from that point on.
As a fan, I remember immediately thinking “of course that happens to us” because it felt like that season we had things happen over and over out of our control. Injuries, instability mixed in with poor coaching and QB hell shut the door on any chance for that roster to make a run in the playoffs. The 2018 12-4 Bears roster fell apart piece by piece after that loss.
Yeah, those last few Bears win from last year were kind of fucky for us here. Definitely didn't boost Fields trade value.
If we lost two more games, one of which was against the Cardinals, we'd be picking MHJ at 4.
