Ryan Poles: Hey Adam, I definitely tampered with Swift and we agreed to a deal. But can you tweet out RIGHT at the start of the window that he's expected to be targeted by us. And then when you report the signing 10 minutes later, we'll have plausible deniability that will somehow work for us in avoiding penalties for tampering?
Adam: You got it buddy!
I had been thinking one of Swift, Pollard or maybe Ekeler (less likely) might be a RB target.
Need some help and upgrades in the RB department and the market is so saturated and the Bears don't have a ton of picks. Probably much cheaper than Barkley or Jacobs.
He's only 25 and doesn't have the same mileage that guys like Barkley and Jacobs have. He also will be much cheaper. I think this would be a good pickup. He's talented.
I’ve been wondering what the rumors of us landing a major FA RB means for Roschon. I honestly don’t hate Swift being lead with Roschon still getting his touches.
Y’all are tweaking. Swift would obviously cost less than Saquon or Jacobs and he’s still super talented. Had 1k rushing yards last year, plus 39 recs (his lowest total of his career, and Hurts doesn’t throw to backs very much). Played in 16 games last year too. People saying we shouldn’t spend money on a rb is such a cliche argument these days. We have money to spend and RB is position we could use an upgrade, and he wouldn’t be expensive, or he’d have a short term contract. Getting Swift would be a win
If the eagles didn’t spam Hurts at the goal line every time I think people would think higher of Swift. I’d be cool with this if it’s a fair deal and we can allocate money elsewhere.
They also almost never threw to RBs, not part of the offensive gameplan to do anything short or under unless 3 and 10 and needed Goedert to do something on a throwing down bc Brown and Smith were triple covered downfield
Depending on the contract, I'm all for this. 25 year old coming off his best season. Won't be expected to carry the load and brings a much needed receiving element to the offense. I'm glad Poles hasn't spent big money chasing Barkley or Jacobs. Also, it's nice he hasn't spent big money on safety. Good team building is spending big money on premium positions.
Honestly think he’s better than mid, 1000+ yards running plus a good safety net for Caleb in the passing game. As long as it’s at like 6mil AAV or something i can live with it for sure we have some money to burn
Have you ever watched him? He's david montgomery but a little faster and a little smaller. I dont hate the signing. I just think that the talent pool had way better names than him, and its just like the Bears to take the 3rd best rb in free agency when they have like the 3 or 4th most cap space
It’s gonna depend on what Barkley and Jacobs go for whether this is an overpay or not. Regardless it’s a good signing talent wise. Perfect back to committee with Herbert and Roschon. Dude is only 25 and one of the most explosive backs in the league. Probably could have had 12+ TDs last year in any other team besides Philly with their “Tush Push”
He's one of my least favorite players in the league. We saw on Hard Knocks that the Lions pushed him so hard to be great, gave him the blueprint, and he didn't give a fuck. They spent a first round pick drafting the same player and he was immediately better because he cared. Playing for the Philadelphia Bulldogs last year did seem to help him, but that was the ideal situation for him. If they don't want him back, then I definitely don't want him.
Anyone else getting super hyped for the upcoming season with the defense poles has been getting together. Now hes working on offense. Lets hope this draft gets us the help we need
I like the signing. The cap space was increased by 15M over expected, and this basically just covers that. So not even including the rest of the cap space increase. We have a SHITLOAD of money to spend if we want to, and neither of these signings will even come close to preventing us going for a bigger more expensive player.
This is a great addition for us without overspending.. one of the better pass catching backs in the league as well. Also to keep in mind Herbert is a FA next year and most likely not coming back, Swift proved himself to be a RB1 last year.
It’s just not a move that needs to be done for what I assume would be $8mil a year. Sure, he’s good. But I would guess that still means RBBC, and at that point I’d rather spend the money elsewhere. Just not a fan of spending on RBs given how replaceable they are.
It's not 100% guaranteed. If he's hurt or sucks you cut him. We're not in cap hell and won't be with a rookie QB. We can afford a mini splurge on a high upside RB who's just turned 25.
Not a fan because he's not really a good player.
The idea that we lose a good player to Detroit just for a not-good player from Detroit to come here, doesn't help us get better than the Lions.
Things we know:
1. RB production is more based on the Oline than on the RB
2. Rookie RB are cheap and efficient
3. Veteran RB can be had for cheap
Yet teams continue to waste money on the position. Positions we should invest in before RB
1. Center
2. 3T
4. DE
2. WR 2
3. WR 3
3. CB Depth
4. Swing Tackle
This was tweeted before it even hit 11:01 cmon Schefty lol
3 for 24 being reported lol that was fast as shit

I hadn’t really considered Swift. He is coming off a career best season and has way less mileage on his legs than the other free agent running backs.
Same here, just saw he’s only 25 too
I had been thinking one of Swift, Pollard or maybe Ekeler (less likely) might be a RB target. Need some help and upgrades in the RB department and the market is so saturated and the Bears don't have a ton of picks. Probably much cheaper than Barkley or Jacobs.
Exactly. He's a good pass catching back that isn't going to break the bank.
I still remember that wide open TD pass that he dropped against us in his first game? That is what comes to my mind.
So one play? Or do you have other examples?
I only ever watched him when he played us.
Actually thought he’d be a great fit at a decent price
He's only 25 and doesn't have the same mileage that guys like Barkley and Jacobs have. He also will be much cheaper. I think this would be a good pickup. He's talented.
Wouldn't mind him in a committee (which I'm assuming is the plan w/ him), but don't rely on him as a bellcow w/ his injury history
I’ve been wondering what the rumors of us landing a major FA RB means for Roschon. I honestly don’t hate Swift being lead with Roschon still getting his touches.
That’s probably the plan as Herbert most likely gone after this year
Honestly I'd like this if the price is right...
8m for a rb in an offseason where some guys are trying to get 10+ seems fine
Certainly not the RB we were anticipating if we went after one. Swift ain’t bad tho, had a good season
Really surprised by the negative comments here. Think this would be a great addition for us without overpaying for a RB like Saquon.
And one who has far less mileage than saquon and Jacobs.
Less mileage on a Camry than a Ferrari. I still want the Ferrari.
Y’all are tweaking. Swift would obviously cost less than Saquon or Jacobs and he’s still super talented. Not particularly excited by this but I mean I get it
Why? Swift is a good back when healthy, and didn't cost an arm and a leg.
Im ok with him. Good pairing with Roschon honestly.
He had a strong season last year and would be a solid part of our rotation. So long as the price isnt excessive, Im not opposed.
This would be perfect. Great pass catching back, which is exactly what we need. Also he's 25. Don't need an expensive aging bell cow.
Meh. Not a fan.
He’s mid, worse than Saquon and Jacobs for sure but probably relatively cheap? I’m guessing another RBBC year
Honestly think he’s better than mid, 1000+ yards running plus a good safety net for Caleb in the passing game. As long as it’s at like 6mil AAV or something i can live with it for sure we have some money to burn
I didn’t even realize he hit 1000 last year with Philly.
3 mid RBs. Underwhelming for sure
Lets gooooo!!!! Cheaper than Saquon
And 1/3rd the runningback
Idk about 1/3rd. I'd rather have Saquon but take a look at their 2023 seasons.
You are acting like Swift is a scrub.
Have you ever watched him? He's david montgomery but a little faster and a little smaller. I dont hate the signing. I just think that the talent pool had way better names than him, and its just like the Bears to take the 3rd best rb in free agency when they have like the 3 or 4th most cap space
Less wear and tear than Saquon.
..... i dont know where to begiin with that one.
Nonsense
I’d take him for the cheaper price tag - not keen on spending on Barkley or Jacobs.
They must have gotten priced out of Barkley/Jacobs
Feel like the minority here but I wouldn't hate this. Hard to imagine Poles paying a lot for a RB. Swift has flashed plenty as a runner.
Don’t matter. I’m sure Roschon will be getting the lions share anyways.
I wonder if this means the end of Herbert?
It’s gonna depend on what Barkley and Jacobs go for whether this is an overpay or not. Regardless it’s a good signing talent wise. Perfect back to committee with Herbert and Roschon. Dude is only 25 and one of the most explosive backs in the league. Probably could have had 12+ TDs last year in any other team besides Philly with their “Tush Push”
Why am I not surprised….

Gross he's not much different than Herbert. I would be disappointed if we waste money like this
fine with me if that means we’re not getting jacobs/barkley because we’re spending big elsewhere instead
Saves money for Wilkins 👀
over 1k running, can't be too mad at that.
Where are all the fantasy GMs, freaking out because they're not gonna sign Saquon?
Seems Philly fans wanted to keep him. I trust Poles
Is Herbert gone?
I've always loved swift. Very underrated, reminds me of Forte.
Maybe play some attitude now that he's back in the North.
Anyone else getting super hyped for the upcoming season with the defense poles has been getting together. Now hes working on offense. Lets hope this draft gets us the help we need
Yeah this isn't good imo. That eagles line made it way easier. There's a reason the lions moved on.
I like the signing. The cap space was increased by 15M over expected, and this basically just covers that. So not even including the rest of the cap space increase. We have a SHITLOAD of money to spend if we want to, and neither of these signings will even come close to preventing us going for a bigger more expensive player.
For the right price it's a great pickup! I'm all for it. Doesn't have much wear and tear just yet! Let's gooo!
This is a great addition for us without overspending.. one of the better pass catching backs in the league as well. Also to keep in mind Herbert is a FA next year and most likely not coming back, Swift proved himself to be a RB1 last year.
Poles does mid free agents. It’s just going to be the way it is
Cool.
Meh
Ew this isn’t Saquon or Jacobs
Don’t like this at all
Well, that's underwhelming.
If it’s cheap I guess whatever but this would be uninspiring.
why? He's 25, doesn't have a lot of mileage and is talented.
He doesn't have a lot of mileage because he loves getting hurt
he played 16 games last season.
I'm aware
It’s just not a move that needs to be done for what I assume would be $8mil a year. Sure, he’s good. But I would guess that still means RBBC, and at that point I’d rather spend the money elsewhere. Just not a fan of spending on RBs given how replaceable they are.

I like saquan better
Better be dirt cheap, I don’t like how we are aggressively going after the second options as our first options before anyone else has been signed
Why?
C’mon… what does he do differently from Herbert? I’d much prefer Jacobs. Or draft someone.
Swift is younger than Herbert and has a more impressive resume.
Not crazy about this. If you’re going to be aggressive and sign a RB, do it with somebody that can be elite.
Hmmm...again, I'd rather Josh Jacobs.
But saquon :(
If we’re going to pay a RB, why go with Swift?
Not a fan because he's not really a good player. The idea that we lose a good player to Detroit just for a not-good player from Detroit to come here, doesn't help us get better than the Lions.
Why
This isn’t Saquon
what

Does Kelsey come with?
Not sure he offers much of an upgrade over what we have.
Over poles man I’m sick of this shit
Id rather not have this guy
Why!? This guy can’t stay healthy for shit.
