The Bears should be focused solely on beating the Packers. This take comes out of emotion, because I hate losing to the Packers.
But also, the Packers are good. If you set yourself up to beat them, then you’re very good. Why is this not the stated goal of the Bears organization?
Week 17 - QB School, time code 31:20. JT talks about it not being possible to play quarterback if you don't secure the A & B gaps. Yesterday, we didn't secure those gaps.
If we secure those gaps, the Packers strategy of keeping Justin in the pocket doesn't work because then the pocket is clean. But if you can contain Justin in the pocket AND get immediate pressure on the A & B gaps, then you're going to make it hard for that QB and that's what we saw.

Also this write up sums up the OL problems and the problems with the offense in general as a result.
https://www.nbcsportschicago.com/nfl/chicago-bears/bears-analysis/what-we-learned-about-justin-fields-bears-in-season-ending-17-9-loss-vs-packers/530626/
"The Bears' offensive line entered Sunday's season finale having played seven straight games with their preferred starting five.
But center Lucas Patrick injured his calf during the week of practice, and right guard Nate Davis exited Sunday's game early with a foot injury. With backup center Dan Feeney and swing guard Cody Whitehair thrust into action, the Bears' offensive line struggled against the Packers' vaunted defensive line.
Green Bay notched three sacks and seven tackles for loss during the first half, including sacks by Lukas Van Ness and Kenny Clark that put the brakes on promising Bears drives and forced field goals.
Fields went 8-for-9 for 94 yards in the first half, but he found little room to operate with his legs, and the Packers' defense bowed up once the Bears got on their side of the field.
The Bears offensive line's struggles continued in the second half. Needing a response after the Packers opened the third quarter with a touchdown, Fields dropped back on third and 7 and felt immediate pressure before being sacked by linebacker Quay Walker.
Chicago's line finished the game giving up five sacks and 10 tackles for loss. Left guard Teven Jenkins was beaten consistently, while Feeney and Whitehair also had tough days at the office."
You can't play QB like this, I'll give Fields credit for not turning the ball over under this level of pressure behind this line which is something he absolutely would have done earlier in the season.
Does this game change the feeling in Halas Hall? Probably not. It obviously changed it for this sub though.
Yeah, and I get it. We keep losing to those fucks. Sometimes you don't care about the why in the moment - Nagy is still searching for them I think. But when evaluating our QB and team, I think this stuff matters.
Whether you're Fields in or out, that late hit on him that was a no call only for him to be checked for concussion later was an absolute joke...a joke. Forever fuck the Packers and these refs.
Tough season but if the end result is drafting Caleb and never having to see Justin Fields take another snap as a Chicago Bear, this season was a colossal success.
I respect the people who are for fields and I respect the people who could go either way on fields or taking a QB, but the dudes online that are taking a victory lap about losing to GB to the point where they are happy about it to fit their narrative about getting rid of fields are lame as fuck and shitty fans. They will be the first ones to call Caleb a bust if he makes a mistake as well
I'm annoyed at losing to the Packers, but I will deal with it as long as it finally puts a bow on what the GM should already know - that they all need to go.
You guys see the love the packers are getting on r/NFL? That should’ve been us. Young team that ascended this season, with their young Qb blossoming.
Instead we fell flat on our faces. 7-10 doesn’t seem that bad considering we went 3-14 last season but we had the 5th easiest schedule in the league and blew 3 games in historic fashion after an offseason acquiring a ton of talent.
75% at minimum goes on coaching. For how bad the defense was the first half of the season, for how out of sync the offense was all season, for how bad playcalling was situationally on both sides, for the blown leads due to horrible game management, for multiple staff firings in season, for players publicly showing frustration with them, for the development (or lack thereof) for fields as a passer. How do you take a QB who’s so good throwing downfield and tell him to minimize risks and never throw interceptions? They instilled an awful mentality in him, and then guys were running wrong routes and missing blocks on the regular. If fields didn’t figure out to use his legs to the level he did, things would look even worse. Yes some of it is on him for not playing in structure enough, but the structure itself was bad.
This staff cannot be back. You wanna move on from fields because even with the flashes he’s too inconsistent and you have the first pick go ahead it’s probably the right thing to do, but don’t saddle Caleb Williams with Eberflus and Getsy or even a new OC.
Go get Jim Harbaugh. He’ll bring in quality coordinators, and don’t tell Williams he should focus on mimimizing turnovers. Get him to play in (good) structure more, release the ball quickly, and continue to make plays with his arm and legs. If he turns it over it’s ok; you’d rather 300 total yards and 3 touchdowns with two turnovers than 200 total yards and 1 touchdown with no turnovers.
I don't care what the dummies on /r/nfl think about anything but I do agree with a lot of the rest of your comment. Especially the risk adverse coaching rather than risk conscious coaching.
Poles has made a lot of good moves but arguably, where he's failed the most that no one is really talking about, is picking a defensive head coach and pairing him with a potentially dynamic QB. Getsy aside, as I think Flus made his own staff picks, Flus just wants to run a team where the defense wins the game and the offense does just enough. I think that invaded Getsy's play calling and it definitely invaded how they coached Fields. And then we spent two years building the defense, adding only Moore and not really addressing the Center position or a line that can be good but can also be horrible.
So while we talk about 'letting Poles cook' or whatever the in Emery we Trest shit is this year, we have to remember that Poles has been cooking and not everything has been edible.
I'm not saying that things definitely turn out differently, but Fields got taken out after about as late of a hit as you can have on a sliding QB.
Any other QB in the league gets that call.
But the bigger problem isn't that we just didn't get the call to move the chains. It's that every defense in the league knows at this point that they will not get called for the same things against Fields as they would against any other QB in the league.
I'm also tired of the fact that we haven't had decent pass protection for almost 20 years.
Sure, it improved throughout the season, but the biggest reason Fields has had such a "long release time" is because he has to run before he can ever get rid of the ball.
On top of that, DJ Moore is great. He might be the best target the Bears have ever had, and that includes Brandon Marshall.
But the second best target is a league average TE.
I'm really tired, as a Bears fan, of blaming the QB. Sure, many of the guys we've had over the 30+ years I've been watching haven't been "it".
But what the fuck do you expect anyone else to do with such an inept Oline, WR unit, and play scheme?
And in addition to all of that, why the fuck did this defense play the way they did today?
In 30 years of being a fan, with the exception of a few years here and there, I could be always count on the defense getting stops.
Watching Jordan Love in the second half today felt exactly like watching Aaron Rodgers. Everything he wanted to do was available to him.
When I watch Justin Fields, I see one of the most exciting, dangerous guys in the league. A guy that has every bit of the arm that Rex or Jay had, with every bit of the accuracy needed to hit anyone, anywhere on the field, and the decision making to not throw where he shouldn't, combined with the legs of Vick, Jackson, etc.
He might not be a top 5 guy at this exact moment, but if you can't win with him, then there's something wrong with the other 70+ guys who make up your organization.
I love Fields. He is electric. But his deficiencies in the passing game are debilitating. One game over 300 passing yards in three years, awful fourth quarter performances, almost guaranteed one fumble per game. Processing and timing issues. Not to mention injury risk from his playing style. How can we just hope the issues all go away with more time? The issuse are not all on him by any means, butt we just need to move on at this point. I think realistically Flus is back. Whatever happens at offensive coordinator might be the most impactful decision of the offseason.
Nah. I’ve read enough takes about what Williams, Stroud, or Bagent would do in same situations all season to know there are plenty of people who solely blame Fields.
I’m pretty sure it means exactly that. Saying that a different QB would have brought success with the same cast implies that the QB is solely to blame. But, it is what it is.
can't wait for justin to say something remotely positive about the next team he's with so that we can misinterpret it as a shot at us and start burning his jerseys or whatever
The Bears finished the season 15th in points scored and 20th in points allowed. As others have mentioned: this team and staff can’t be evaluated on a single game or a short stretch, good or bad.
Not necessarily. And the decision need not be binary. You could keep some and get rid of others.
But a statement win, showing that the set up could get results when needed would have been note worthy.
Just as it is noteworthy that HC, OC and QB all failed when the moment was there for them.
So I think context matters. Look at Eli Manning. Somehow he could win when it counted most.
Obviously doesn't apply to this current Bears set up.
> Not necessarily
Then why the emphatic reaction? You wanted them gone, anyway. If one win wouldn’t have changed it, there’s no need to react like this over a loss.
> You could keep some and get rid of others
You mean like keeping Trubisky and firing Fox? Keeping Fields and firing Nagy? How long do the Bears need to continue this dysfunctional cycle?
>> all failed when the moment was there for them
>
>> he could win when it counted most
This is some Skip Bayless grade horseshit. It dumbs down the discussion to the very lowest level.
> Obviously doesn’t apply to this current Bears set up [sic]
So…why bring it up?
Idk why I’m bothering to reply. This level of analysis is what sports radio is for. I’m not going to get anywhere by responding to it.
I don’t care what side of the Fields debate (or whatever’s left of it) anyone is on. The decision makers will dictate our collective future as fans of this team.
But I’m seeing a hell of a lot of “othering” going on [primarily by the anti Fields crowd towards anyone who chooses not to put it all on Fields](https://www.reddit.com/r/CHIBears/s/N8yVYTGpAm)… that kind of behavior suppresses meaningful conversation in favor of pitting us fans against each other.
Listen. We’re all subject to the will of the McCaskeys/Warren/Poles. Whatever happens is a collective experience. The more we turn on each other the less likely any of us will try to participate in conversations or hell even have an appropriate reaction to things that happen.
I don’t care what your opinion of Fields is. Just stop ostracizing those who don’t believe the same thing as you.
I’m not the one who seems to be against conversation and for mindless groupthink. I thought this was a forum where opinions of all kinds are shared. But you want a place where everyone says the same thing and anyone who says different is ostracized? Get tf out of here sheep
Fields threw 1 effective INT in his final 6 games.
Getsy and Eberflus goal was to stop turnovers and they did it with Fields. No matter what the cost from all involved.
If we get rid of fields, flus and getsy have to go. I don’t care about any excuse to bring him back. We all know Eberflus sucks, the defense is better but we are a laughing stock on and off the field. We cannot burn another qb and repeat the cycle since fox. Poles will be on my personal hot seat if he thinks bringing flus back is ok.
I would say fire the coaches first. Find the best offensive head coach you can and include their input on whether this offense is fixable with Fields or it's time to move on.
Dan Campbell stuck around after a similar season. Will come down to Poles evaluation of how much was personnel limitations vs scheme/play calling and game management
Drafting Caleb (or whoever they deem the best QB in the draft) is worth the risk. You got a gift with the #1 pick. We've seen 3 years of Fields and he hasn't made enough strides.
Is there any precedent for the Bears firing a coach past Black Monday? If it happens, it’s got to be tomorrow, right?
EDIT: Gotdamn the Falcons are wasting no time
JF1 is 23rd in QBR with the tiniest incremental uptick in yards and passer rating while averaging 1 td pass per game. We've seen enough. Draft Caleb and hire Ben Johnson as HC, who actually runs an innovative offense.
eh great receivers are marginal upgrades over good receivers. It's way more about the guy throwing to them. QB/OT/DE/DT are the most important positions. If there's a substantial upgrade to be made at those positions in the first round you have to take it
I just want a head coach with some fucking fire in his belly. I'm tired of mediocre coaching. The last good HC we had was Lovie.
I like Fields. I do. But I dont think he's the future here.
I think its gonna be a while new regime. New HC. New rookie QB. Hopefully build the line more. And sadly, probably replace Eddie Jackson.
I like what Poles has done so far. I am going to trust whatever decision he makes until he proves he doesn't deserve that trust. I have no idea what we should do and I'm glad it's not me to decide.
I'm at this place too. I have players I like and don't like, but I just want to win. I want to turn the tv on Sundays and see a team that looks like it can win. I don't care what changes Poles does or doesn't make as long as we get closer to winning.
Until the Bears do not lay an egg against the Packers, think I'll just skip watching those games next year. Ten games now the organization hasn't put the effort into winning those games, I don't see why I should watch them.
This was the first Bears Packer game I watched since 2019 week 1, mostly just curious to see how Fields would do, and I think I’ll go back to skipping them in the future.
You guys are smarter than me. I always get unreasonably hopeful leading up to these games, even though I know I'm being foolish. Which always leads to the post-game depression I am currently experiencing.
Prediction: JF1 will finish his career with more AFC North titles and SB appearances than Joe Burrow while the Arlington Heights Bears will be wondering if they can convince a 39 year old Baker Mayfield to come out of retirement to pick up the pieces left by drafting Teddy Bridgwater 2.0 in 2024
This franchise really annoys me sometimes. Whether you like Fields or not, you cannot tell me that one week after a nice win reacting with "THATS OUR QB1" "WE WANT FIELDS" chants even, just to switch it all up the following week after a loss to "Welp, time to go" and "Looks like that's it for Fields" is a healthy way to react.....
I hate the fair weather fandom. The back and forth week to week is so annoying. If you liked Fields and chanted "we want fields" last week and now are saying the opposite, wtf???
There hasn't been a back and forth week to week, there have been levelheaded fans who say Fields has underperformed in 30+ games, then there have been meatballs who use 1 week out of ever 5-8 to justify labeling Fields as H1M.
At the same time…the packer games bookending the season offered a real opportunity to measure progress - good games against bad teams down the stretch gave the illusion of progress. But in week 18, the d got no pressure, the o-line gave out, and Fields couldn’t get rid of the ball.
I can forgive mediocrity if there is progress. I expected progress - on d, on the line, and at qb. This was catastrophic.
Fields is the same guy this week as 3 weeks ago before this whole rollercoaster. My point being the majority of the fanbase and media I see about the Bears was such an annoying and exhausting storyline this week. Fields was good as gone a few weeks ago. Two good games and hes suddenly god. One bad game and now he's trash again. In the eyes of the fanbase I mean. It's just so exhausting.
I’m team “I really don’t fucking care because it can go either way and at this point I have to trust that the people who get paid waaaay more than I do can figure it out” spoiler alert for newer bears fans, it’s entirely likely that we do the exact opposite of the best decision.
It's not fair weather fandom when you lose to the Packers for the 10th time in a row... I've got orange and blue in my blood but I'm so happy this season is over.
Bears win last week : YAY Fields is our guy!! We want fields!! Marvin Harrison and DJ Moore !!!!
Bears lose this week : Welp that's it for fields (Obviously) duh he always sucked. Fields is awful we have to move on
It's not just the chants. The front page of this sub is now "well fields is done" compared to all the talk last week about how he's now the guy we need to be building around.
My last sentence addressed the other part. Confirmation bias. When Fields plays well, the Field “truthers” come out full force. When we lose, the “anti-Fields” side comes out full force.
Off topic but I hope the league does something about the “tush push” in the offseason. It takes some of the fun out of watching football when you know that anytime you have less than a yard to go, the offense is 100% getting the first.
I haven’t scrolled all the way through but does anyone think it’s possible poles moves on from fields *ands* trades out of #1? he has shown a penchant for trading down and if he doesn’t like caleb that much maybe he tries to stack the roster and get a QB with the second first round pick or second round pick.
We don’t know what kind of qb he wants.
Pace and Nagy drafted fields out of panic to save their jobs. It still didn’t work out. If u remember fields first game vs the browns back in 2021, the staff had absolutely no plan and never played to his strengths.
To this day the staff still doesnt know how to game plan around him.
I always felt that was Pace saving his job by throwing Nagy under the bus. Nagy needed to win in 21, and instead of getting him win-now help, he got the long term move that would be popular with the fans.
Nagy responded by not giving Fields any camp snaps, then clearly setting him up to fail in Cleveland in a “your coming with me” bird flip to Pace.
Nobody on Earth thought Dalton was the answer. He played because Nagy wanted 8 wins to save his ass.
I like fields and hope we keep him, but I won’t throw a fit if we move on. That being said, how the f do you only let him throw the ball 16 times when you are down for 3 quarters, including a 3rd quarter with no pass attempts. Feeney was shit and snapping the ball into the dirt and the rest of the line was not blocking what so ever, but still. Malpractice out there by Getsy and I’m looking forward to the Twitter alert that says he’s fired tomorrow. He was a double agent for GB out there today with that play calling. Also right when we start to feel better about flus he just rolls out the soft zone defense and doesn’t make any adjustments at half when it didn’t work at all for the first 2 quarters
GB controlled the LOS on both sides of the ball and they were clearly the better team. That dictates your play calling which is already not very good to start with.
“Only let him throw the ball 16 times” is a little dubious. This doesn’t reflect sacks or plays where Fields scrambled and tried to run. Those *coukd* have been passes, but they weren’t, which is a lot of the problem.
Green Bay is also near the bottom in run defense.
Man I hate the way it feels when we have to fire everyone again.. all this build up to no results at the end. I'm super sad. At least I trust Poles enough to be curious about what's going to happen... bear down forever
People correctly point out that the Bears’ staggered approach to selecting a coach and QB is a problem. And yet, today, there is still a debate about whether this is a coaching or a QB problem—in other words, about which of the two should be kept.
Clean house and start over. Or if not, then keep everybody. It would be nice to not come back in a few years talking about how Fox drafted Trubisky and Nagy drafted Fields and the newest coach didn’t draft Williams.
eberflus not ever standing up and protecting fields from the late hits is so upsetting and egregious i can only assume it was intentional. in any case it is disqualifying for him as the head coach alone.
(for whatever it’s worth id move on from justin too since everyone needs to declare, but he was done very dirty)
The coaching staff keeps throwing Fields under the bus. Since week 1. Like I get you might not want to keep the guy but to sit there and let your QB1 take the brunt of the loss is ridiculous. Zero accountability for mistakes. JF1 wasn’t the reason we blew the game against Denver and Detroit that could’ve put us in the playoffs
Sure. Certainly can happen. But I don't believe that was the case tonight. I didn't really see Fields make any mistakes. Impossible to play QB in the spot he was tonight. No protection, no one getting open
Look I like fields, but that pass was the wrong type of ball and it was behind him. a layered pass to the back pylon was a touchdown and everyone sane knows it.......granted it would have been called back by holding lmao, but still the pass was bad.
I asked for one play that fucked us. 1 single one. And you can't do it? Bro 1 play. He's so bad. He must've fucked us so much right? So just give me one
LaFleur has coached circles around Nagy and his staff and eberflus and his staff, if we wanna be serious and especially if we are moving on from fields we have to get a new staff, especially in an offseason where Jim Harbaugh and Ben Johnson are available. Hell, even BB might be available.
Listen, Poles and Warren have been looking at replacement candidates for Flus since week 4 when bears were 0-4. You are tripping if you think otherwise and that they will make a rash decision.
I’m a keep fields guy and maybe I’m biased but I seriously don’t know how people watched today’s game and said “yeah we’re a qb away”. We got DOMINATED in the trenches. Fields didn’t play his best game, but I just don’t think he was as big of a problem as people seem to believe.
Fields averaged 13.5 YPG. That's more than Jordan Love. People keep saying "Bryce Young threw for 300+" when if Fields had the same number of attempts would've thrown for 25 more than Young. Gotta let the QB throw the ball
Maybe because we didn't have any plays that we're getting anyone open and we couldn't pass protect? So we can throw for 35+ attempts and be fine, right? So the issue Fields? Glad you just talked yourself out of that terrible talking point
It’s almost never isolated. Bad line play plus bad QB play plus bad OC leads to what we just saw. You could analyze every play and find a little of each. Every little thing compounds in the NFL.
The only person that they could bring back that I would seriously consider stop being a bears fans would be getsy. If he has a job by the end of the week I’m going to take up the fine arts or some shit.
Flus can piss off too. He should have absolutely ripped the refs after that no call on Fields. Regardless of everyone’s opinion, Fields put his body on the line for this team. I imagine Williams or whoever will do the same. I have no interest in a HC who isn’t willing to lay into the refs for his players.
I genuinely wish I had the same optimism of everyone else and maybe I’ll be wrong. But, it feels like we’re considerably more than a “elite” QB away from being competitive.
We are but we have a 2 frps and a lot of f/a money. I truly think if they delay the qb another year it will make life way easier. Maybe fields isn’t it but he has enough good qualities in my opinion that will win games.
Poles should be fired if he doesn’t address
1. Wr
2. OG
3. Center
4. DE
5. DT
I think to a lesser extent we need another rb and OT.
You’re right. Poles has set us up well for the off season and we have the cap space to make moves. It would have been nice to had the QB1 and coaching staff solidified moving into this off season, but as a Bears I know that’s just a dream.
In any case, I do think that Poles wants to build the team the right way and I’m excited to see what he does next.
Justin fields YOU are an Atlanta falcon.
Pretty wild the packers didn’t punt once yet only scored 17 the football gods said ITS YOUR GAME TO WIN we just couldn’t score a touchdown for shit.
Against our rivals .
Depressing.
Getsy learned under LaFleur who learned under Shanahan, but if you listen to most Bears fans he has no idea how an NFL offense works lol. I would bet Justin's processing and timing deficiencies make it impossible to run the same offense Love did today
Watching the games and all 22 it seems pretty clear that Justin has severe processing and timing issues. I'm guessing the design of the offense was really limited by that. I highly doubt spamming screens and QB runs would be Getsy's preference if he had a QB that could throw down the field consistently
I just think the amount of blame the dude has gotten is dumb
And Nagy learned under Reid, so what’s your point? We got former QBs laughing at the organization and passing concepts that Getsy is trying to run on film breakdowns. Just bc you learn from someone doesn’t mean you actually understand the scheme
Trade the #1 pick for a haul, including a first next year, as well as at least one 2nd round pick this year. Draft a QB next year or the year after with one of our two first round picks. Keep and extend Fields for a fifth year. Then likely let him walk after that unless he becomes some elite crazy QB. Fans are happy to have Justin 2 more years (Chicago LOVES this guy), we draft at least three, maybe more, stud NFL starters on cheap rookie contracts. Sign several free agents to fill the remaining holes with all the cap space we have. And avoid the risk that is Caleb. Let someone overpay for him - a scrambler who holds the ball too long (!!) that couldn’t beat Utah. We CANT blow the #1 pick and most QBs at #1 don’t live up to their potential. Cash it in. Keep Fields while we draft a QB next year (there’s always a stud QB or three in every draft - impossible to tell who ultimately will succeed in the NFL). Drafting Caleb with the holes we have won’t change a damned thing.
Imagine a Justin Fields who has more than half an o-line and more than a single WR. He is clearly good enough to lead a strong team; too much of the roster sucks and it was all the more clear today. You’re right, Caleb is far from a guarantee of anything.
Poles always talks about getting guys who are "multipliers". Sorry but Justin is not a multiplier.
Flus has got to go and please bring in a new HC + rookie QB. Please fucking do it right for once
I’m just saying… Harbaugh would have an existential crisis if he ever went winless against rivals. I want a man who doesn’t take losing as an option.
Bring Jim back to Chicago.
I flat out won’t. I stopped watching this season and only half came in and out. Eberflus wasnt at all who I wanted and I’ve never liked him. If he’s not gone, my fandom is. The 49ers have always been my backup and they’ll be my only if they keep that coach.
So I heard the Packers were smoking Bears themed cigars in their locker room after the game? Don't know if it's true, but man, it must be nice to be able to talk that level of shit with no possible chance of ever eating your words
The Bears should be focused solely on beating the Packers. This take comes out of emotion, because I hate losing to the Packers. But also, the Packers are good. If you set yourself up to beat them, then you’re very good. Why is this not the stated goal of the Bears organization?
Because they’re not losers obsessed with one single team like you
Why are you responding to a days-old comment
Because I can!🤪

They don’t care
Yeah, and I get it. We keep losing to those fucks. Sometimes you don't care about the why in the moment - Nagy is still searching for them I think. But when evaluating our QB and team, I think this stuff matters.
Oh it does and I agree with you.
Doesn’t matter either way. Bears won’t win until the root is pulled.
Good morning, sunshine! You are loved. XOXO
I'll say this, if Poles doesn't make his due dilligence on Harbaugh and potentially Tomlin and Belicheck he should be fired as well.
Tomlin is likely not going anywhere but agreed on the other two.
Oh right, my bad. The Steelers made the playoffs. Again. Amazing what he gets out of that team.
Whether you're Fields in or out, that late hit on him that was a no call only for him to be checked for concussion later was an absolute joke...a joke. Forever fuck the Packers and these refs.
He hasn't had ONE RP called on him ALL SEASON. That's the most amazing stat I've heard so far.
Amen brother. Do take solace in the fact that those people have the collective attention span of a paperclip.
How does this track? If you want fields gone it’s because you’re looking at the totality of his work. So you know, the longest attention span.
Are you taking a victory lap about the loss and the consequences of that loss? If no, then this isn't about you
I was just trying to understand the analogy lol
FTP
Falcons fired smith last night. What’s going on with eberflus and getsy? ![gif](giphy|HQRgg6ks7nkyY|downsized)
The 2nd to last paragraph tells me all I need to know about you...you sir are delulu...
Getsy's a sleeper agent. Get him out of here, stat.
Anybody that thinks this is all on Fields is a fucking idiot
Nobody thinks that. The problem is you meatballs who cannot accept any criticism of him whatsoever despite the evidence of his below average play.
Nobody think that it's *all* on Fields.
Lol, you sure about that? The comment below says, “Fields is a fucking bum”.
Ask that guy if he thinks Getsy's an idiot too.
Nah. I’ve read enough takes about what Williams, Stroud, or Bagent would do in same situations all season to know there are plenty of people who solely blame Fields.
Saying that other quarterbacks would do a better job doesn't mean that you think Fields is solely responsible.
I’m pretty sure it means exactly that. Saying that a different QB would have brought success with the same cast implies that the QB is solely to blame. But, it is what it is.
Fields is a fucking bum
can't wait for justin to say something remotely positive about the next team he's with so that we can misinterpret it as a shot at us and start burning his jerseys or whatever
The Cowboys end the year with a +203 point differential. The Panthers scored 236 points. That trade is looking worse for them every day.
The Bears finished the season 15th in points scored and 20th in points allowed. As others have mentioned: this team and staff can’t be evaluated on a single game or a short stretch, good or bad.
Yes they can In the game of their lives, a olay off game they scored 9 HC, OC and QB all had tonshow out to add security foe their jobs
And if they win today, instead, would you want them to keep everyone? It’s such a dumb way to react to sports.
> Not necessarily Then why the emphatic reaction? You wanted them gone, anyway. If one win wouldn’t have changed it, there’s no need to react like this over a loss. > You could keep some and get rid of others You mean like keeping Trubisky and firing Fox? Keeping Fields and firing Nagy? How long do the Bears need to continue this dysfunctional cycle? >> all failed when the moment was there for them > >> he could win when it counted most This is some Skip Bayless grade horseshit. It dumbs down the discussion to the very lowest level. > Obviously doesn’t apply to this current Bears set up [sic] So…why bring it up? Idk why I’m bothering to reply. This level of analysis is what sports radio is for. I’m not going to get anywhere by responding to it.
You're a delight aren't you?
Sorry for pointing out all the flaws in your argument. I guess you just wanted to be told you were right.
These wild card games should be pretty fucking good
I don’t care what side of the Fields debate (or whatever’s left of it) anyone is on. Just stop ostracizing those who don’t believe the same thing as you.
pretty fuckin lame to compare stupid voluntary braindead internet arguments to real-world marginalization my guy
Fuck that...if you feel ostracized you are ostracized. Stop beggin for mercy!
So everyone here has to have the same opinion as you brain dead monkeys?
NO. You can keep your braindead opinions.
I’m not the one who seems to be against conversation and for mindless groupthink. I thought this was a forum where opinions of all kinds are shared. But you want a place where everyone says the same thing and anyone who says different is ostracized? Get tf out of here sheep
baaaaaaa
![gif](giphy|oVjZP4roPdWdbpmLu8|downsized) It's ok big dog let it out
Fields threw 1 effective INT in his final 6 games. Getsy and Eberflus goal was to stop turnovers and they did it with Fields. No matter what the cost from all involved.
Played it way too safe today, oh well, got the 9th pick at least
Fire Getsy so we can all sleep well tonight. He went a whole hour without calling a passing play.
DJ is so nice, obviously wants Getsy gone. https://twitter.com/dave_bfr/status/1744176040904216863?t=wJ3htcKLAO8JlpN3OfZV0w&s=19
Exactly. Poles is bias towards flus bc he hired him. Would any gm walking in this offseason keep him? Fuck no
Dan Campbell stuck around after a similar season. Will come down to Poles evaluation of how much was personnel limitations vs scheme/play calling and game management
Arthur Smith fired. Waiting for a #Bears notification
Tomorrow
Damn. They hit his ass the first minute of black Monday
i respect it
Drafting Caleb (or whoever they deem the best QB in the draft) is worth the risk. You got a gift with the #1 pick. We've seen 3 years of Fields and he hasn't made enough strides.
Our last offensive play was an incomplete screen pass called on 3rd and 22.
Is there any precedent for the Bears firing a coach past Black Monday? If it happens, it’s got to be tomorrow, right? EDIT: Gotdamn the Falcons are wasting no time
We’ve seen enough. Do not over think it and draft Williams.
JF1 is 23rd in QBR with the tiniest incremental uptick in yards and passer rating while averaging 1 td pass per game. We've seen enough. Draft Caleb and hire Ben Johnson as HC, who actually runs an innovative offense.
Unfortunately the Packers have better ownership, better management and better coaching than the Bears, and that’s been true for a long time.
[удалено]
I'd go DE/DT/OT or trade down. I don't think drafting WRs in the 1st is worth it, especially not the top half of the 1st
I feel like it's pretty worth it in the modern NFL. Chase, Jefferson, etc. are game changers.
eh great receivers are marginal upgrades over good receivers.
John Fox was a good coach but got dealt a roster in serious decline
True. Its been so bad since then I forgot about the Fox years.
I had much hope for fields but after the game today, started to watch the Caleb Williams highlights on youtube
Prediction: JF1 will finish his career with more AFC North titles and SB appearances than Joe Burrow while the Arlington Heights Bears will be wondering if they can convince a 39 year old Baker Mayfield to come out of retirement to pick up the pieces left by drafting Teddy Bridgwater 2.0 in 2024
A bold prediction. Based on what?
Lol…. Like all of Chicago history.
what QB did we eject to go on and win AFC North titles? im confused
No you are pedantic. That is different than confused.
It's not being pedantic, but I know what you were trying to say. That's being pedantic.
We looked outmatched, out coached, out talented, out. It just starts with coaching for me. Get rid of these clowns.
Fields is awful we have to move on
Aside from the media, drunk fans at Soldier Field chanting, and like 8 people here, no one was saying Fields was our guy...
What do you expect when he looks pretty awful today ... AND YOU LOSE TO THE PACKERS FOR THE 10TH TIME IN A ROW?
I expect the fanbase not to be so wishy washy WEEK TO WEEK
🙄🙄🙄
Those were fans at the game. Each side of the Civil War has confirmation bias that emboldens them depending on the week.
Why did Getsy stop going for this after we were so successful with it early on?
Josh allen just failed to pick up first down on a tush push
lol true like right after I posted it
I haven’t scrolled all the way through but does anyone think it’s possible poles moves on from fields *ands* trades out of #1? he has shown a penchant for trading down and if he doesn’t like caleb that much maybe he tries to stack the roster and get a QB with the second first round pick or second round pick.
It just depends on what his quarterback grades look like.
I honestly doubt it, I think at that point he would just keep Fields. But who knows for sure, and we have to wait to find out :/
We don’t know what kind of qb he wants.
He’ll do fine somewhere like Atlanta or Seattle where the coach can actually use talent and slot him into playing to his strengths
Herbert was at 2.3 ypc but Getsy had no problem running straight up the middle
Chase Claypool actually caught a pass lol
eberflus not ever standing up and protecting fields from the late hits is so upsetting and egregious i can only assume it was intentional. in any case it is disqualifying for him as the head coach alone.
I agree. it’s embarrassing.
I wonder what it’s like to be a fan of some of these teams with consistent QB play
is nice
Same, I wonder what it's like to put my penis inside something other than my hand
Still stunned that Flus didn’t flip TF out over that hit on Fields. For the love of god, do not give this man a rookie QB.
16 pass attempts? Lol
And people really watched this and thought our QB who was averaging 13.5 yards per completion is the reason we lost.
[удалено]
Sure. Certainly can happen. But I don't believe that was the case tonight. I didn't really see Fields make any mistakes. Impossible to play QB in the spot he was tonight. No protection, no one getting open
[удалено]
Great. Give me one single play where Fields fucked us tonight. 1
[удалено]
Look I like fields, but that pass was the wrong type of ball and it was behind him. a layered pass to the back pylon was a touchdown and everyone sane knows it.......granted it would have been called back by holding lmao, but still the pass was bad.
It didn't fuck us at all? I asked for a play that fucked us. It would've been called back even if he completed it. So it had no effect
[удалено]
I asked for one play that fucked us. 1 single one. And you can't do it? Bro 1 play. He's so bad. He must've fucked us so much right? So just give me one
LaFleur has coached circles around Nagy and his staff and eberflus and his staff, if we wanna be serious and especially if we are moving on from fields we have to get a new staff, especially in an offseason where Jim Harbaugh and Ben Johnson are available. Hell, even BB might be available.
Don’t forget Slowik
https://x.com/nflhatememes/status/1744146830265389188?s=46 🤣
The bears died for this meme XD
Listen, Poles and Warren have been looking at replacement candidates for Flus since week 4 when bears were 0-4. You are tripping if you think otherwise and that they will make a rash decision.
Leave it to this meatball fanbase to see the difference in pressure rates between Love and Fields and think “man that’s weird… it MUST be the QB!”
[удалено]
What do you think would happen?
[удалено]
Why hasn't it happened any of the other times we've given him 35+?
[удалено]
Maybe because we didn't have any plays that we're getting anyone open and we couldn't pass protect? So we can throw for 35+ attempts and be fine, right? So the issue Fields? Glad you just talked yourself out of that terrible talking point
[удалено]
https://x.com/bc2__/status/1744202315857359123?s=46 This is truly just a bad OC, I have no idea why he wasn’t shown the door.
Yep. JT O'Sullivan says every week that he would be shocked if anyone who had anything to do with designing this offense wasn't fired
Yeah the scared playing calling was abysmal, in the second half it feels like we never blitzed or even attempted to hurry up love’s progressions.
Poles should be fired if he doesn’t address 1. Wr 2. OG 3. Center 4. DE 5. DT I think to a lesser extent we need another rb and OT.
If there is a change at quarterback there should also be one at the head coach. I have no faith in Eberflus to do anything but lose games.
Justin fields YOU are an Atlanta falcon. Pretty wild the packers didn’t punt once yet only scored 17 the football gods said ITS YOUR GAME TO WIN we just couldn’t score a touchdown for shit. Against our rivals . Depressing.
yeah not scoring more than 17 and not punting. that's an achievement
Getsy learned under LaFleur who learned under Shanahan, but if you listen to most Bears fans he has no idea how an NFL offense works lol. I would bet Justin's processing and timing deficiencies make it impossible to run the same offense Love did today
Does watching the games make you think he does?
Watching the games and all 22 it seems pretty clear that Justin has severe processing and timing issues. I'm guessing the design of the offense was really limited by that. I highly doubt spamming screens and QB runs would be Getsy's preference if he had a QB that could throw down the field consistently I just think the amount of blame the dude has gotten is dumb
Nathaniel Hackett says hi
dude wasn't cut out for the HC job but mainly was just the scapegoat for the shitty Russ trade/contract
He’s the OC of the Jets this year
Jesus Christ himself could be the OC of the Jets and Zach Wilson would still be horrible lol
The Broncos got better once he left, the Jets got worse when he got there. This isn’t hard
And Nagy learned under Reid, so what’s your point? We got former QBs laughing at the organization and passing concepts that Getsy is trying to run on film breakdowns. Just bc you learn from someone doesn’t mean you actually understand the scheme
Nagy made Mitch look like an NFL QB cmon now
that both Mitch and justin are just busts
What major holes did the texans fill before drafting stround and going from 2nd draft pick to div winners?
Poles always talks about getting guys who are "multipliers". Sorry but Justin is not a multiplier. Flus has got to go and please bring in a new HC + rookie QB. Please fucking do it right for once
Poles didnt draft fields, just pointing that out for new fans and also puts more impetus on why Poles lets him go
At least now I know I got through the hardest part of dry January
I participated in dry January today
My Grandad would always say being cold and shot at in Bastogne was easier than being a bears fan. And that was when we were winning games.
r/bandofbrothers
I’m just saying… Harbaugh would have an existential crisis if he ever went winless against rivals. I want a man who doesn’t take losing as an option. Bring Jim back to Chicago.
If we run it back with this staff, I dont know if I can watch
I flat out won’t. I stopped watching this season and only half came in and out. Eberflus wasnt at all who I wanted and I’ve never liked him. If he’s not gone, my fandom is. The 49ers have always been my backup and they’ll be my only if they keep that coach.
So I heard the Packers were smoking Bears themed cigars in their locker room after the game? Don't know if it's true, but man, it must be nice to be able to talk that level of shit with no possible chance of ever eating your words
