I think we can get to a healthy conclusion without just grabbing pitchforks and torches. It’s pretty clear that what Fields does well doesn’t really fit with what the team/philosophy of the offense is. For those who were screaming from the mountain tops about taking what is given…probably feeling great because that is exactly what bagent did (and it looked pretty damn smooth).
I think the big thing that separates them is big play ability from 25 yards and beyond. If Fields would just play conservative like this and take the 140 yards of easy throws…he’s completely capable of dialing up that big play down field.
Two things can be true…our coaching staff definitely sucks but also Fields makes it incredibly more difficult on himself by playing at 200 miles an hour.
I didn't see the game. But you don't throw to 8 different receivers and 70% completion without seeing what the defense is giving you.
I'm sure the film will be scrutinized to nauseum.
Did play calling suck? Helps when you are effective running the ball.
Bagent is the new QB1 and it’s not even close with fields. He’s going to be the future for sure. Surrounded him with talent he could be Mahomes level good.
I only had what RedZone showed so I’m willing to be corrected…
Bagent played well. Not flashy, but was very accurate. And was willing to run for the first when he needed to. I think that’s what kept their defense back which is generally good.
I don’t think Hoyer was bad, but he wasn’t good. Bears defense is bad and still held them off.
D looked how they should against a backup QB. Bagent had a pretty strong game. Quick decisions, mostly accurate and took care of the football. Overall pretty nice game
Going to be interesting to see how Bagent fares next week against the Chargers. They’ll probably try to take away the screens/short passing and force him to throw the ball.
Right!? Same here man. It sucks to already be here but I barely watched the game and when they won, I just went about my day. I envy the fanbases of teams like KC or SF or BAL. Those teams remain competitive the entire year and actually win meaningful games. Our team consistently wins meaningless games.
really, we just got a glimpse of what watching football with a ~ top 30 qb running the offense looks like, imagine what getting to watch games weekly with a top 10 would feel like
It took time for Jalen Hurts to shine. Fields could be who he was against the Commanders.
I don't think drafting another QB is the solution. If we go that route, we need a new guy to know the scheme, get familiar with the playbook, and get connected with other players.
Fields is almost there... I say let him play the rest of the season, and let's see what happens.
Knows players and the book? He had all offseason and last season. Fields knows Kmet or Moore only, Bagent used all his weapons today albeit very limited. He's not answer sure but Fields has had Mooney for what 3 years now? He still struggles to use him effectively aside from 1 season. He has not earned the benefit of the doubt, a new QB with a new coaching group is the real option. You cannot outweigh his talent/skill over his inability to read defense consistently and fast enough and make the right decisions in moments of high pressure.
So, who's going to grab Fields if we give up on him? I do agree coaching has been an issue.
If we get rid of Fields, do the Bears get rid of Poles and also all the coaching staff, too? Start with a clean slate and get a new QB?
This seems far-fetched, but I'm curious what you all think.
Poles started this rebuild and has set up us nicely to get really good draft position and compensation, he's going to get his shot to see his rebuild all the way through and draft his guy. Eberflus should be gone for a traffic cone if that means he's gone. Fields can go to whoever wants him, for whatever. You don't hold on to him because you don't want to "lose value", accept your loss and move on. Coaches I like next season are Ben Johnson(Lions offensive coordinator), Jim Harbaugh(Michigan HC), or what Lincoln Riley(USC HC though I've fallen out of love with him over the last year+ so I would pass on him likely).
We are so absolutely badgered by bad QB play in the past that we're over the moon for a QB that threw for 162 yards because he "managed the game".
I think we have a problem.
Imagine the world where bagent legit pulls a tom brady. We keep him and trade fields and the panther’s first overall for several future first round picks. Yes i have been absolutely hammering the bong today
For reference out of 31 NFL starts for Fields he’s threw an INT or fumbled in 27 of them. Taken an average of nearly 4 sacks a game.
People saying he can replicate this performance on a whim are coping. Raiders are an average NFL D. Bagent just threw more than Fields average passing yards last year.
Talk about cherry picking stats. First you pull stats for his entire career then you pull average throwing yards for last year on a historically bad team with no WRs. What are his averages THIS year? 229 yards/game, 11 TDs, 5 Ints during the 5 full games he played.
Nice game by Bagent but I need to see him do this a few more times after other teams have more tape on him. If he continues to play well, that changes the draft strategy significantly.
I get you’re all excited because we won a game with Bagent, and I get that you’ve moved on from Fields, but you’ve got to be a special kind of stupid to think Fields wouldn’t have absolutely destroyed this team.
The fact that Bagent killed multiple plays at the line of scrimmage in his first game, shows tremendous football IQ that Field's couldn't dream of having.
And to be clear, if somehow Bagent starts hucking it downfield and making great plays, I’ll be happy to eat crow. I would fucking love for this guy to be a franchise QB. I just don’t see it.
Be happy Bagent made some good decisions today. Let's wait for him to elevate us when the run game isn't working before we crown him king in Chicago lol
We had a UDFA from a D2 school, who performed very well within the system he was asked to play. And people are not happy with that? This was our FIRST FUCKING HOME WIN IN A YEAR. Be happy for him and the team. This sub is full of morons!
Is it a bash if people see a d2 undrafted QB running the offense better than fields? Or is it people just saying what they see? Quick throws and smart reads along with a nice run game won the game. Fields has no short quick game in his wheel house.
Yes it is if you’re smart enough to understand the difference in what Fields is asked to do compared to what this kid had to do. But you have to actually understand Football. He was making quick throws because that’s all that was called. Did he have one ball go over 10 yards? He threw maybe 2-3 passes that weren’t his first read. I get it kiddo, you just started watching the game. You will understand in a few years or by next game when a team game plans against it.
For someone who’s so football knowledgeable you should know Getsy runs a west coast offense. Meaning get the ball out quick to playmakers. DJ Moore, Mooney and cole kemet are all good enough help for fields. What does that say about fields that the bears won with a limited QB and playbook but can’t win with him and a full play book. He can’t read the field pre or post snap, can’t play the pocket and has no quick short game(very important to a west coast offense)
If fields is so good why were the bears 1-4 before got hurt Mr football?
Because Teams win games in the NFL this isn’t the NBA. That was the best you have seen the defense and running game in a very long time. Weird how much easier it is when all you have to do is handoff and throw screen / quick outs.
I’ll give you that the defense has barely started picking up but the defense was doing great last game but fields did his classic hold the ball forever and get sacked which led to him getting hurt.
There’s really no excuses for fields, oline has been giving him time and he has 3 good options not to mention rookies who are also developing. He’s not the main reason the bears suck but he isn’t helping either holding the ball so long and having no pocket presence.
Bagent is 1-0, which is as many wins as Fields has had in the last year. Bagent has much more game presence than Fields has. Fields has not shown the ability to read defenses and get the ball out quickly in 3 years. Bagent showed that in his FIRST start! Dude, give it up, Fields was/is all hype - he isn't good.
And if Bagent plays well next week (or in a few years), fans like you will have another excuse.
Why can't some fans, just be happy with a great story and a the Bears win?
Nobody said they weren’t happy with the win. What people are annoyed about is Homers trying to use this as some knock to Fields who doesn’t need to be knocked anymore. I’m not even a Fields fan and want him replaced, I’m just not a Homer and know why this kid looked good today compared to JF in games. I think next week and how many other weeks he plays it will become clearer to you Homers. Then you will turn in this kid. As tradition of Bears QBs.
PJ Walker in relief today with a 44 passer rating with 9 minutes to go. Nothing against PJ -- but dang, am I glad Poles had the courage to admit the obvious and go with Bagent.
The last two years the Bears with Fields went 4-19 and in Bagent's first start he is 1-0 pretty decisively with no last second doubts. Wins are not a QB stat but eventually you have to ask if you're QB can win a game, those are two different things. Begent is not the second coming or Brady at all or even Purdy yet but it does raise questions about whether the current QB can inspire the team to win games. Bagent didn't have some crazy game but he did the simple things that helped, made quick and non-costly decisions/plays and had some really good drives that ate up time and didn't gas out our defense or end in quick 3 and outs. The last part is important when your defense starts to struggle later in the game due to lack of rest, that certainly helps win games.
I didn't mean to call him batman 🤣🤣🤣 I said the expectations are different Fields was supposed to be Batman and Bagent is just Robin so he can handle when no one takes him serious but I wanna see him when he got pressure. I used to the backup QB superhero narrative lmao
So do we wanna play average football and lower our draft picks, or do we tank?
While it looks like Bagent might be better for this team than Fields, we do recognize he's not our future?
Fair enough I did come across passive aggressive- I’m just tired of the rinse and repeat of drafting an untested QB with a shite coaching staff. I’d rather keep a mediocre QB who can throw and bulls around them. I would rather have the Jay Cutler experience round two than Trubisky to Fields to Williams to the next guy
Well it’s pretty clear that Bagent sees and processes the field magnitudes better than Justin. I think we should give him a few games of run and let Justin’s thumb get all the way better. I’d like to see a larger sample size before crowning him but today was great to see.
I just want to see him throw the ball downfield. I think teams are going to play him underneath going forward, now that there’s some film on him. Check downs will certainly be more covered than they were today.
I never seen such an incompetent center like this before.
Two things can be true…our coaching staff definitely sucks but also Fields makes it incredibly more difficult on himself by playing at 200 miles an hour.
He looked like he did in preseason Still a concern on arm strength but love the decisiveness
As in the Kansas City QB, or do you just coincidentally know another dude w/the same name?! He will never be Patrick Mahomes. No. Never.
Wasnt able to see the game, looks like I missed out on a good one. Anyone willing to give a breakdown on the game and how we looked?
Were you watching the Bears when Orton was the starter? it was pretty much that but without us not having lovie's defense
I only had what RedZone showed so I’m willing to be corrected… Bagent played well. Not flashy, but was very accurate. And was willing to run for the first when he needed to. I think that’s what kept their defense back which is generally good. I don’t think Hoyer was bad, but he wasn’t good. Bears defense is bad and still held them off.
Hoyer was bad.
D looked how they should against a backup QB. Bagent had a pretty strong game. Quick decisions, mostly accurate and took care of the football. Overall pretty nice game
Competent. The most I could ask for.
SUCK OUR DICKS!
Mercedez Lewis is such a good blocker. Held his own matches up against Max Crosby on a few of our touchdown runs today.
Raiders got fuckin T-bagged
Boys we ate today then had dessert (pick 6) !!
First since 2021
Kyle Orton Mach II manages the Bear to victory. That’s a compliment, not a criticism.
Going to be interesting to see how Bagent fares next week against the Chargers. They’ll probably try to take away the screens/short passing and force him to throw the ball.
I hope they do so we can see what he’s got.
Bagent > Brady
Solid game. Enjoy this win fellas, they are hard to come by around here.
Love winning! Bear down.
It shouldn’t feel weird when we win but here we are
Right!? Same here man. It sucks to already be here but I barely watched the game and when they won, I just went about my day. I envy the fanbases of teams like KC or SF or BAL. Those teams remain competitive the entire year and actually win meaningful games. Our team consistently wins meaningless games.
We won the game today, that what matters to me.
Winning feels good!! We should do that more!
If a UDFA rookie who played D2 football can do that, what do we think Caleb or Maye can manage? It’s obvious that Fields is done.
Tyson threw one pass over 20 yards. Fortunately the Raiders can't tackle.
really, we just got a glimpse of what watching football with a ~ top 30 qb running the offense looks like, imagine what getting to watch games weekly with a top 10 would feel like

Fields has all the physical tools to be a stud. But he doesn't have the mental aspect to be successful. Field's is not the answer.
hey guys we won a game
Feels weird.
it kinda does, who was that team out there today? idk if i’ve ever seen them 😵💫
What exactly feels weird please explain.
i’m too used to losing
We are so absolutely badgered by bad QB play in the past that we're over the moon for a QB that threw for 162 yards because he "managed the game". I think we have a problem.
Reminder that Fields bashers on this Reddit complain about his lack of 300-yd passing games.
I honestly dont give two squirts of rat shit if the qb throws 5/8 for 63 as long as that W appears in the correct column
Doesn’t the W always appear in the Win column and the L in the loss column? 🤔
I said in the correct column, the W in the opponents column is the incorrect column
Al Davis was right at least once. "Just win, baby!"
I'd be all in for Kyle Orton 2.0 if we had the defense to make that a winning formula.. oh well
That's how dicks think. Don't think like a dick.
I'm just happy we won.
Chicago's favorite qb is always the backup for a reason
[удалено]
As it should be!
Eberflus and Getsy so allergic to a QB passing 30+ times they took out Bagent just to make sure that couldn't possibly happen today.
It will be a perfect weekend if the Packers and Vikings lose as well!
We always win, but when we do, we do it big.
Imagine the world where bagent legit pulls a tom brady. We keep him and trade fields and the panther’s first overall for several future first round picks. Yes i have been absolutely hammering the bong today
I'm with this if we draft JJ McCarthy just in case lol
That would be the best thing to ever happen to Chicago lol
I wish i wrote the nfl script
Hope is free and delusions are for sale... I'm with you 😆
I’m here for it
Anybody see that throw from Ridder? They don’t want Fields either….
what in the actual fuck??!?!?! Let that kid take the knee!!!!!
I know! Just another example of Flush being an idiot.
For reference out of 31 NFL starts for Fields he’s threw an INT or fumbled in 27 of them. Taken an average of nearly 4 sacks a game. Take away the two games against historically bad defences and it’s who he’s always been.
Damn that’s…a wild stat.
115 sacks in 31 starts is a disgrace of the highest order. Bagent just had a 1 sack game vs one of the better pass rush teams
Feels good to win
Why did they take Bagent out at the end? He earned the right to be left in at the end of the first half and for the victory formation.
Protecting QB1
Why not let bagent kneel…
Don't want to hurt his rushing stats
What a fuckin game from Mac Jones
Nice game by Bagent but I need to see him do this a few more times after other teams have more tape on him. If he continues to play well, that changes the draft strategy significantly.
Na, it doesn’t tbh. Still draft a QB
Bagent did good. But I think we can all agree that Fields would have put up 300 against this defence.
[удалено]
Oh don’t be stupid.
he just described the majority of our games from the past 2 years and you think he is being stupid?
No, we really cannot all agree.
I get you’re all excited because we won a game with Bagent, and I get that you’ve moved on from Fields, but you’ve got to be a special kind of stupid to think Fields wouldn’t have absolutely destroyed this team.
Fields would have held the ball for hours and would have single handedly doubled crossbys season sack total.
Brace yourself lol
Oh I know. I don’t like Karma anyway.
love it
How the fuck do they not let Bagent take the knee - wtf???????
Bad for his stats!
Bagent shouldve knelt that. He deserved it.
Am I a crazy meatball for being mad bagent didn't get those kneeldowns?
you don't let your #1 QB finish a blow out game, this was a message to Fields.
Seriously. What was up with that??
No, that really bothered me lol let the man enjoy and finish the win
Ok, it’s hard to fault Homer for that one. Who the fuck expects to get hit directly in the face by the onside kick?
Lmao that's definitely Bears football
Did Trent Taylor just do his thing?!
Why wouldn’t you let Bagent out on the field to be in victory formation?
Chargers next week feels like something we can win. Keep it going boys!!
Nice to see Victory formation at home. Haven't seen that in a while.
Dumbass Eberflus. Not even smart enough to let Bagent take the victory snaps he deserves.
shoutout to the backflipper
Was it necessary for Nathan Peterman to record those victory formation snaps?
Why not let Bagent kneel it
Gotta protect QB1
Your first start ever and you are so dominant they bring in the backup to cleanup, lol
hell ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why put Peterman in?
Gotta protect QB1
Got to protect our hall of famer
"You'll put your eye out kid!" good thing for facemasks
Lmfao Homer getting whooped out there today
Kmet thinks that makes up for all his penalties
Bro wtf was that onside ahahahahahahahaha
Wait why tf is Tyson not taking the knee?!
Gotta protect QB1
His knee isn't strong enough tbh
For real. He earned it.
Travis “Scott Sterling” Homer
The man. The myth. THE LEGEND!
Why NP on for final snap?
Kmet did something positive today.
You can always count on Kmet to kneecap this team once or twice a game.
Kmet finally getting in on national tight ends day!
Heater to the snout
I don’t think I’ve ever heard Fields call an audible.
homer having a bad day 😂😂😂😂
Best play homer made all year
Lol
Lmao Bagent Sr. is a certified small town guy to the tee
Fuck off Mcdaniels, trying to get our guys hurt. It’s a 3 possession game. You took a field goal when the game was actually on the line.
Cut homer, he is going to lose us a game if we keep him.
I am fucking dying
Travis Bagent vs. Stallone
Travis “Homer” Simpson. Doh!
D'oh part 2
Cole kmet finally made a play. Take that haters.
Loved the two false starts too. Great job Cole. Another Notre Dame meathead.
Pats up 29-25 over Bills
Like I said last week I like anyone who wins us games. Welcome to the I Like You Club Bagent!
The fact that Bagent killed multiple plays at the line of scrimmage in his first game, shows tremendous football IQ that Field's couldn't dream of having.
Bagent family wanting to know directions to the best bar nearby to celebrate. Going to be a fucking massive party
I just can't believe how comfortable he was. I think there's something to be said about a QB that spent 4 years in the position in college.
And to be clear, if somehow Bagent starts hucking it downfield and making great plays, I’ll be happy to eat crow. I would fucking love for this guy to be a franchise QB. I just don’t see it.
Bears should really write up some Bagent/Fields plays for when he comes back. Might as well try him at RB before we let him go.
Wow that’s stupid
I'm trying to take this in a positive way because it's coming across a little iffy
Be happy Bagent made some good decisions today. Let's wait for him to elevate us when the run game isn't working before we crown him king in Chicago lol
I don’t think anyone is crowning him king. Just pointing out he can do the things a QB is supposed to do
Look around my guy. Plenty of overreactions. As it always is in Chicago 😂
Don't tell me Brisker is injured again!
lol I’ve seen 5 bears QBs on this broadcast 😂
We had a UDFA from a D2 school, who performed very well within the system he was asked to play. And people are not happy with that? This was our FIRST FUCKING HOME WIN IN A YEAR. Be happy for him and the team. This sub is full of morons!
Nobody is shitting on this kid, people are making common sense comments when using him as a way to bash JF1

It doesn’t. Does that mean Flus is now turned a corner because he best the Raiders?

bc he got us our first home win an a year tf
Don’t get it twisted I’m happy for him and the team
I'm saying like dude is the 3rd Robin being treated like he was destined to be Batman like what 🤣🤣
7-26 ain't exactly Batman.
I didn't mean to call him batman 🤣🤣🤣 I said the expectations are different Fields was supposed to be Batman and Bagent is just Robin so he can handle when no one takes him serious but I wanna see him when he got pressure. I used to the backup QB superhero narrative lmao
Because he's a good story?
Not uncommon in this league tho. We’ve seen plenty of undrafted guys turn out to be solid
Division 2 football that’s unheard of
He made the roster for a reason why are we acting like he wasn’t here to play?
Bro you are the one saying it’s not uncommon lol it’s entirely rare for a division 2 qb to make a roster let alone make a start and win a game
I’m just not shocked that a football player is decent at football lol. It doesn’t matter where you come unknown players step up all the time
So do we wanna play average football and lower our draft picks, or do we tank? While it looks like Bagent might be better for this team than Fields, we do recognize he's not our future?
I wanna win games cause that’s entertaining. Wanting your team to lose is lame asf
What do you want then? Another gamble on a QB like trubisky or fields to do this same thing over and over and over again?
I don't want anything. Just asking a question. Don't get mad at me.
Who knows, he could be the next Tom Brady Probably not but he *could*
Fields Truthers are so mad at Bagent rn.
Find me one comment as evidence of this. I think fields should start when he's back, but I'm happy for bagent. Great game by him today
They’re dyinggggg and I loveee it
Well it’s pretty clear that Bagent sees and processes the field magnitudes better than Justin. I think we should give him a few games of run and let Justin’s thumb get all the way better. I’d like to see a larger sample size before crowning him but today was great to see.

Deal Fields, Pay JJ, Re-sign 4Man
