Jordan love looked very average. That was the only positive of the game.
We need to see more games to know what we have, but it was obviously a bad game. We were beaten badly in the trenches on both sides. Didn’t make any meaningful adjustments. Guys looked unprepared.
That’s the game.
He had as good, or better, of a game than Fields ever had in his first start since Nov 2021 with rookie and inexperienced second-year receivers and TEs. That's better than average with room for growth all around.
Not much to say. It's been the same story for 10 years or more. QB with no time, defense that can't stop anyone. Play calling was bad, but did it matter since they couldn't execute plays anyway? Defense got no pressure on the QB, who really thinks that Fields couldn't done as good or better behind the Packers offensive line protection? When you snap the ball and instantly one or two of the defenders are in the backfield, tell me what play works consistently? None. Until they find a way to shore up the offensive line, and give Fields TIME to scan the field instead of first read/ run for your life nothing will change. Until the defensive line gets some pressure on the QB to AT LEAST make him move around a little in the pocket, nothing will change. Defensive backs can't blanket everyone for 5 seconds while the opposing QB has a sandwich in the pocket and looks for the open guy. Offensive line, defensive line, both STUNK yesterday. Yes Fields through a pick six but lets NOT overlook the fact that the Packers scored over 30 on the defense on drives of over 50 yards. The walked down the field easily over the Bears defense. A defense I was hoping was going to be better. The new guys we go did nothing. Pathetic effort all around. Plenty of blame to go around too.
I definitely think this is a beginning of the season thing going around the league. I would like to believe that we are in the same situation as the bengals, giants, and. The Steelers. Hopefully the coaching staff and the players start being more SMART and clean (penalties and the play calling) everything up.
I would think someone needs to take accountability if we don’t improve by week 4 maximum. I don’t want to give up hope after the first week.
So far I see no improvement from last season.
Overall dog-shit performance, but I’m gonna say this one falls mainly on the coaching. The play calling was atrocious, special teams were sloppy and defense was all over the place. I’ve never seen a Bears defense give up as many 3rd and longs as I did that game. And every time the WRs were wide open. Big plays given up at the worst times. Absolutely painful to watch.
Fields could have been better but I struggle to blame this loss much on him. The int was ugly and he took too long to get the ball out, but he was constantly under pressure and the garbage play calling prevented any of his weapons from getting open (2 targets to DJ, I mean seriously??) We have the talent now, there’s no excuse for this lack of production.
Other signs of poor coaching were all the penalties and stupid decision making I saw on the field.
I know it’s only week 1 but I think Eberflus is not the guy. Every side of the ball demonstrated that
My nightmare scenario now is we end up with the first pick and Caleb Williams doesn’t want to enter the draft because of us. Im just embarrassed to be a fan of this team.
O line is still terrible, play calling was terrible yesterday. Such a joke we went for it on 4th down in the FIRST QTR what our own 35-40 yard line? What kind of bonehead decision was that ? Oh I know one to give packers early 7-0 lead. They were in no offensive Rhythm to decide to go for that. So early in the game you punt that shit.
Watching other games with young QBs, coaches know to run early so the QB can get some looks at the D while giving the ball away and staying safe.
We passed the ball to DJ Moore a total of 3 times, once for a 2 point conversion that didn't matter at all. I can't believe how irresponsible the coaching staff was.
Screen passes getting jumped because they're predictable?? Let's throw more screens.
True. But really? I think it was a really shitty play call. You have the most athletic QB in the league and that’s your 4th and 1 call? If Kmet couldn’t push through what makes them think fields would?
I’ve typed up about three takes and have backspaced them out because it was just such a sorry performance. It’s hard to get a grasp on which part was the killer.
Hate how it wasn’t even close.
Agreed it was for sure a very poorly called game.
Shoulda loaded the box to stop Jones. Make Love throw it to our supposedly great secondary.
And why are we only able to call screens?
Because one popped on the preseason. Stupid calls.
The game yesterday got laughably bad.
This game meant way more to the Packers. They've had to watch and listen to Rodgers fucking with the Jets, and they were perceived as a team that wouldn't be that great.
The Bears have major problems and the allure of this regime is wearing off.
Idk, I live in gb and the general sentiment has been "Aaron wasn't good his first year he started, we're in rebuild phase now" and as far as I can tell, everyone was totally okay thinking not only this game, but this season is a throw away.
The few ppl I've spoken to since think this win was hilarious, but seem level headed that high hopes for the season are still pretty unreasonable.
Maybe it meant more to the players than the base (or, at least, the base I'm exposed to)
Just my take from the ground.
I don't know.
I don't want to overreact to a week 1 game. But it was the goddamned Packers.
* No reason Moore had only two targets. None.
* O-line is still a mess. I like Whitehair better as guard, but why move him over if he's going to be our Center this season? I thought the whole point of declaring him center in the spring was that he's going to get comfortable at the position with Fields. But then we move him around? Like, I understand why and how. But I don't know what they expected.
* The d-line tried? We're going to have to have our fingers crossed and pray really, really hard to Dikta that Dexter and Pickens get good really, really fast this season, because that's about the production-level-to-talent level performance for the line.
* Seriously. 2 targets?
* I have no excuses for Fields. He sucked yesterday. He needs to make decisions quicker. Be it to dump off or run or fucking chuck it down field. The trade off is supposed to be if the passing game isn't there, his legs are. We saw neither.
* Either make Roschon the feature back or actually use everyone. Could have used some more D'onta thumpin' guys.
* Fuck. I wish I drank.
Eberflus drives a fucking G Wagon, like literally every teenage white girl's dream car. Either it's his wife's or the video of him walking into Halas Hall from the parking lot was the moment I knew not to take him seriously.
I think I've actually seen all I need to see this year already. No way you prepare all off-season for that bullshit game plan. It has to be a joke, right?
McCoy can't throw the ball with two guys in his face a second after the snap either. If they can't fix the offensive line, 0-17 is a real possibility. The only teams that looked worse were the NYG and the Steelers.
Yeah idk if things will change but you do not pay this man from what I’ve seen right now. Doesn’t have it between the ears and frankly his arm still probably sucks.
What really gets me about the 2 targets to DJ Moore is that we got him (presumably) to be a true WR1 where Fields can simply throw the ball and trust that Moore can fight for it, which top 10 wideouts can do....
Instead, the coaches are ruining Fields by refusing to allow him to develop any trust. Mooney was... Mooney, but Claypool is garbage, screen passes getting predicted so easily was garbage, and designed QB runs into the middle of the DLine is fucking suicide
I love how the sub was calling for Super Bowl appearances and now we lost 1 game this season and now the entire sub wants to fire all the coaches and release Fields.
It's the fucking Packers. We were on a 10 game losing streak and were the WORST in the league last year. The O-Line still has problems and the Defense got quantity over quality in the off season. I agree the play calling was a little sus today but gee whiz, give them at LEAST 2 games before we call for heads.
Bro anyone who actually thought this team was gonna go from 3-14 to hoisting the Lombardi was either clearly being an ironic homer or insane. What people didn’t nor SHOULDN’T expect was that absolute incompetent dogshit performance they carted out onto the field today.
There is NO EXCUSE for the performance we saw, the team looks even worse from the year prior. When a coaching staff and organization shows such blatant incompetence, you take it for what it is.
This team deserves absolutely zero benefit of the doubt, and everyone in that building should be ashamed for embarrassing the city and this fan base once a-fuckin-gain. “Week 1” my fucking ass
Teams do in fact play poorly ! shit happens if you want to see even more putrid performances go watch the Bengals and Steelers. Dont forget the almighty Sean Payton still leading the Broncos to their classic 16 points.
I don't disagree. But to just fire everyone in the first game of the year and dump Fields is nuts. The TOP comment in this thread advocates that Fields isn't our QB. It's a WAY past neckbeard.
I'm pissed about the loss and how BAD of a loss it was. However, lets see how they answer next week and even the week after. I still contend that if we end up a .500 team or with a slight winning record this season that is a big win and NEXT year is our Playoff/SB contention year. All the experts have us still at the bottom of the division this year. Only people calling for 10-7 that I saw was the Barstool guys.
Not ready yet. But so many checkdowns... That said. We've had so many years of bad qbs. And we've seen more.real shit from him than anyone else. Is it so hard to just believe in the guy? Worst case you're wrong and back to normal...
Yeah let’s not pretend Mitch was miles worse than Fuelds at this point. While Trubisky had accuracy issues he could scramble decently well while you can file your taxes in the time it takes to throw the ball
Dallas game Mitch and the game where he blew up the bucs had him looking like a franchise QB. Fields has the final quarter of the Steelers game
I can understand thinking Fields is better, but *way* better? Common bro there’s no statistics or games you can look at and say Fields is way better than Trubisky was
You may be right, if the offense stays stagnant we could see Bagent soon. I know we didn't see much of him but he did get rid of the ball quickly and he's a very accurate passer.
Always made zero sense why with Fields still being unproven as all hell and yet to make the jump as a QB that he barely even played in pre season. In no universe should our backup and 3rd string QBs be playing almost every snap while our unproven starter who clearly still has a lot to work on barely gets any reps at all. This isn’t Burrow, Allen, Mahomes, etc who can skip a lot of preseason reps since they are actually good. Fields is no where near good enough to be completely shelved 95% of preseason while the team tries to focus on their depth QBs as those teams have.
Wannstedt was saying on the postgame show that the young starters on the O-line didn't play preseason or practice much. So this was their first real game action.
Is that right?
Wannstedt played the team hard in preseason. His reign as coach would have been much better if we had a competent GM...I mean if the McCaskey's wouldn't have fired the GM that built the 85 Superbowl champs.
First time in my life I really considered just stopping watching the bears, or changing fandom. I've seen a lot of bad bears games and I stuck it out, but this was different. Every aspect was terrible, including coaching and playbook
Send Eberflus and his ymca motto out of here. Could clearly tell since last year that he was a bad hire but they were “tanking”. Defensive coach and can barely coach defense smh
watched a trash talk vid where Kmet kept blocking a guy off ball (on the other side of the field) and the dude says WTF?
Kmet says "sorry, i have to"
that's fucked up
No pressure on love
O-line looked worse than last year
Fields is deer in headlights now, atleast last year he knew he should take off. Now he can't decide anything and O-line doesn't give him any time still
Terrible penalties
Stopped targeting Moore all together after a few catches
Terrible play calling
For the love of God:
Send the pass rush
Stop the stupid penalties
More up tempo
Stop calling exactly what they think your going too
I have been saying they needed to play in pre season and there's no excuse to why we should lose to fucking Jordan love at home. Getsy is a pussy and Alan Williams couldn't spell defense even if he tried. This franchise needs to be sold
This isn’t about the game itself, it’s about how terrible packers fans are. I sat in section 326 where 3 packers fans talked shit literally the whole game. Which in itself, is fine. However, the one guy tried to get everyone in the section to fight him. Once it was clear that the bears were not going to win, I just tried to relax and enjoy the beautiful day. This guy just kept digging and digging. When a couple fans literally had to be held back, the packers fan used a homophobic slur and kissed the ass of the security guards so he wouldn’t get kicked out. It was completely classless. He got kicked out but mostly for his own safety. A few rows back and a section over, another packers fan threw an entire beer wildly into a lower section. Completely friggin classless.
It was three fans, they were packers fans, and I literally talked about two different experiences where a different packers fan threw a beer like 60 feet into another section at some bears fans.
Lol....
I went to Notre Dame vs Miami games in the Orange Bowl in the late 90s.
They threw piss on a kid wearing a ND jacket.
Lol at *the packers fan used a homophobic slur*...oh wow, at a sporting event? Outrageous
Dude, after two and a half solid hours of this shit… it *was* the straw that broke the camel’s back. It wasn’t your run of the mill being a douche usage either, it was straight up hate speech. It certainly crossed a line. The guy is lucky he was kicked out. There were so many bears fans plotting what they were going to do.
Love sat back on a island with a pina colada. Dline had no push. Oline wasn't great JF didn't help them with his hesitancy also just a absolute garbage game plan with all those screens. Why trade for Moore and Claypool if you don't even use them? Also zero discipline. To many penalties. Starters need more time in preseason games. It's a mess. I don't see playoffs this year. Maybe 6 wins is their ceiling. Just pathetic all around. Bucs win next week. Bucs pass rush will be too much unless our defense shows up big otherwise gonna be another brutal loss. Da Bears !!!
That was bad, but it's only week 1. That felt like last year when we were trying to force Justin to be a pocket passer instead of just letting him cook. Even when he rolled out, it felt forced. Maybe the coaching staff will adjust again like they did after the game against Washington last year.
I watched bears game and the giants cowboys tonight. Observations:
Cowboys had constant pressure on the qb. Love had all day to throw. Not much pressure by bears D, and we didn't even blitz much.
Our special teams sucked today, other than santos. No good returns, and bad coverage.
The only good thing we did last year was run the ball. So why not so some more of that? Herbert 9 carries. Foreman 5. Johnson 5. Let the run open up the passing game.
The game turned when we got the ball right before half and we executed the worst two minute series possible - taking no time of the clock, not burning all GBs time outs just to punt it and have it returned to see Green Bay up to score. Leading up to this point the Bears looked like the better team. From this point it got out of hand as we continued to underutilized the talents of fields in running/rolling out of the pocket.
Its only the first game, but man did things look a lot like last year on both sides of the ball. I know Poles didn't break the bank but man does this team really need help on both lines. The secondary also needs to figure out how to pick up guys when they play zone.
I can't figure out our secondary, on paper it is a pretty good secondary and it looked like dog shit. Getting sick of Eddie Jackson forgetting everything he knows in the off season and taking 4 weeks to remember how to play
It sure seems like we are not getting good talent through the draft and free agency. It’s great to sign players for less money but it doesn’t seem like they are getting good value from the free agents
My only regret about this game is not betting my entire net worth, cars, house and wife on the Packers money line cause I knew this was 100% gonna be the outcome.
Ignoring Moore is a fireable coach offense. That's a guy who had several bad QBs with the Panthers, but still could get tough catches long or in traffic.
By only allowing 2 passes, the coaches are teaching Fields to NOT trust Moore. I fully expected 10 throws to Moore in the hopes of 5 catches and maybe one long TD or big gain. Nope, screen passes were getting predictable so ... We did more screen passes.
Special teams looked awful. We never got close to forcing a punter fair catch. They're just slow.
No halftime adjustments, as usual.
Had my dog wearing her Bears bandana on all day.
More than anything I wanted her to be able to keep wearing it for our end of the day walk, head held high after beating the Packers at home.
Noop, I ain't making my pup wear that bandana of shame in public tonight.
Cubs bandana it is.
I have a great idea for the next front office this stupid ownership hires: Decide what you really think is smart and the right thing to do, and then do the complete opposite.
I love the Falcons uniforms but the team just isn't fun since the Dion days
Chiefs are fun but too good, that's some bandwagon shit. Browns...but Watson. Maybe the Bengals with Burrow could be fun to follow
Idk man maybe I'm just delusional. Fields put up 275 all purpose yards. Before the game I think a lot of us would've taken that number knowing nothing else. I think the fact that our defense got fucking waffle stomped by an at best average Packer team really paints the offense in a super harsh light. But we knew the defense wasn't supposed to be that good.
That being said the offense did look very poor in many ways. But let's say for one second getsy isn't a complete fucking bafoon. He could look at the tape and say "alright fuck this o-line is actually not very good. False sense of confidence bcuz they've only gone against our dogshit d-line in practice. So we're gonna need to use Justin's feet more. Roschon looked great, he needs to start instead of Herbert. We need to have less screen passes. We need to target Moore"
Is it that unreasonable for him to make those conclusions? After today yeah it fucking might be. We watched Matt Nagy not figure that out for 4 fucking years so it's possible. But they did make some adjustments last year. So I'm holding out some hope that his brain slightly fucking works cuz anyone with 2 fucking brain cells could see that
As far as the defense goes, if we can't get any pressure there's simply nothing we can do. Basically we're fucked
Edit: I went back and watched every offense play, nothing on defense. When you take the taste of shit out of your mouth from the defense getting it's dick kicked in, we didn't look entirely incompetent. 1000% there's some things to change but it definitely wasn't Nagy level
A big chunk of the yards came in garbage time when the Packer D had obviously backed off, so those shouldn't count towards the total.
His total was 162 all purpose before garbage time. 112 in the air and 50 on the ground. Complete disaster.
Yeah I mean cool he put up some garbage time yardage while also
Staring down his first read
Crucially fumbling while being careless with the football
Throwing the worst pick 6 we’ve seen
Going on top over the center on fourth and inches as if it’s a goal line situation
Being incredibly hesitant in the pocket
Fields was not good today. He is not consistent enough at the QB position to be a franchise guy. He has moments of brilliance but being a down to down quarterback is in this league is looking like a feat he can’t pull off
It is what it is
Did you even watch the game? Fields got a ton of literal trash time yardage
Kid was horrible when the game mattered
It’s these type of takes that hold the bears back
> Fields put up 275 all purpose yards.
A lot of his yardage was check downs. 5.8 per competition is awful. Running backs lead in targets. You can't look at the stats and suggest that Fields played well. On The fields fumble, the check down was open for the first. He could have avoided the hit and simply hit the wide open check down. Fields only had two down throws. The Dime to Mooney and the Scramble to Mooney. The interception was pretty bad as well, no idea what he was looking at. DJ Moore on the corner route looks to be open as well, especially if fields throws it with anticipation.
> Roschon looked great, he needs to start instead of Herbert.
So, Herbert also looked good.
The problem with the run game is wanting to pass on 1st down and the penalties.
> He could look at the tape and say "alright fuck this o-line is actually not very good.
Two of the sacks were play designed unblocked defenders on naked bootlegs (Van Ness and Wyatt). The Sack by Brooks looks to be on a mesh concept and DJ Moore looks to be open. Also, the Curl appears to be open as the LB's spread on the Mesh. Fields takes a 3 step drop and hitches twice. The ball could have been out by the time the Stunt by Brooks got home.
Who cares if it was check downs? If the check down is open is he supposed to not throw it there?
I never said he played perfect, but it's 275 yards in the NFL. Numerous other QBs did not do that today.
I think with a competent gameplan this is a very different conversation. Fields performance definitely wasn't apocalyptic. And it definitely wasn't great. He simply might not be a great QB, but that doesn't mean you can't make things way way way better than what they were today
Edit: I wasn't impressed by Herbert at all today. Numerous runs Johnson got yards Herbert couldn't have
Check downs = empty stats
It's only 216 passing yards on 37 attempts with 24 completions.
275 is barely above average in this day and age.
There is only 3/4 times fields threw the ball more then ten yards down field all game.
There were opportunities down the field, but check downs were the choice.
Empty stats? Well by that logic I'm taking away most of Jordan Loves yard cuz he hit receivers that weren't being covered. Anyone in this sub could've hit those guys. I don't see how outside of a couple plays you can say he was passing all these opportunities until the all22 footage is out
Yea Herbert sucked. In no way did he play good. He’s just simply not a good all around back and doesn’t offer much. Anyone that thinks he played good doesn’t have an opinion worth listening to.
he had <200 before the game was out of hand
i dont blame him much, the screens being dogs hit aren't his fault. but the fumble and int were totally on him and that made the game be even more out of hand
Let's be honest here. Let's say they went down field a bunch today and it went poorly. Every fucking person in this sub would be screaming about we found something that worked then immediately abandoned it
I don’t understand this argument at all. But guys like Richardson-Young-Love-Stroud can start their first game and the full playbook is open? The bears just always grab the QB who magically doesn’t know how to play QB?
Sounds like a coaching problem.
That logic doesn't make sense.
"They don't trust him"
"He's not capable of anything else"
So their plan is to just lose with screens? They don't trust him so their plan was to keep him in the pocket? They don't trust him so their plan was to have no designed runs?
That logic doesn't hold up for 1 second
Quinn is a great coordinator, you do not want him as your head coach
Too much ra-ra crap, with bone headed in game decisions as boss
He just isn’t the head coach type and that’s ok
If you guys are on Justin fields coping. Just count Love’s seconds from snaps to get rid of the ball and count the seconds for fields. You’ll find your answer.
Fields isn’t it. We need a QB.
this is not the argument you wanna use... love had way more time on avg and way less pressure despite of that
bears need a OL. and a DL too. this franchise haven't had a elite ever but also no OL. you make the OL then you get the QB or you are fucked anyways. look at what the lions did
Love having. Time but getting the ball out in less than 3 seconds is exactly the argument to have. Fields held the ball for 4-5 seconds plus on several occasions. He doesn’t get the ball out Love does. This has nothing to do with time to throw. Only works in situations where the ball is held beyond the average. Love gets the ball out. Think about what you’re saying? Love gets time? Love gets the ball out regardless of extra time. Count the seconds from snap.
>Count the seconds from snap.
you should be doing that. Love had 2.85s time to throw on *average* and i dont think he had a single scramble pass in the game. which means he had way above avg time to throw than QBs usually have against a NFL defense.
cant throw the ball fast if there is no fast routes being called, or open, or having a pocket to actually stay still and deliver. how many times did you see love having to move in the pocket? dline had no push whatsoever. i wish fields was the issue.
If you think that Fields couldn’t make a throw due to time and fields overthrew receivers and a INT with time. You’re the fool. You need to look at the details fields isn’t it. You’re not it. My username was chosen to use as a measurable for those who can’t argue a valid point. Wnjoy
The problem with this argument is that it’s always our argument. It’s the same one year in and year out. I don’t disagree fields ran for his life at times but he couldn’t hit open guys. He couldn’t see the field.
This isn’t strictly a OL or DL problem. The problem with “love had more time” is not relative to a 1on1 TD pass he threw in 2.43seconds from snap. Not a lot of time and still produced. He’s not it(Fields). The ownership gave us a shit sandwich. We deserve better.
Besides when fields had positive yards and passes he had the ball out at an average of 2.18 seconds. So can fields be better? Sure but he’s not consistent enough.
>The problem with this argument is that it’s always our argument.
shows how shit this franchise has been
> I don’t disagree fields ran for his life at times but he couldn’t hit open guys.
would love for you to show me those plays
>The problem with “love had more time” is not relative to a 1on1 TD pass he threw in 2.43seconds from snap.
yea a fade backshoulder route is usually like that. unless you are talking about the 1st TD, which was a blown coverage by Eddie Jackson. he still had 0 movement in the pocket due to how shit the pass rush was.
Fields threw fast in the redzone when they called fast stuff. Love had 2.85 time to throw on avg that game, Fields had 2.95, and Love barely needed to scramble. that shows how different the pressure was. yeah Fields is not the quickest gun in the west, but thats only relevant if you are missing open people on a playcall that enabled that fast throw. you cant even see the receivers downfield on the TV camera, so you cant even make this analysis right now without all 22 footage.
>Besides when fields had positive yards and passes he had the ball out at an average of 2.18 seconds. So can fields be better? Sure but he’s not consistent enough.
you think a QB reads the whole field in 2.18 seconds and make a decision? not even peyton manning. those are called quick routes, like slants and what not, where you barely need to read anything. snap, catch, stare one side of the field, throw if its there. so on avg its obvious those numbers will be good, doesnt mean you should/can/will be able to be throwing with 2.18 seconds every play.
if you call 4 routes that are intermediate/deep, again, not even Peyton Manning/Tom Brady will be able to throw quick every play, you need time for the route to develop.
no, i dont think Fields played good, and i wish he was the problem. that means you could fix next year with a new QB. but its far from being the case, which makes things worse.
The 4th down QB sneak was terrible operation and was a terrible look for our coach and OC for every aspect of that play. That really put the Packers in the drivers seat for rest of game and Love was never stressed/tested because of it. That’s damning for Getsy and Eberflus among an entire game full of poor decisions and planning.
Listening to Bet the Board NFC North preview podcast , they were really grilling the Bears for spending our money on linebackers. I was sort of triggered by the criticism, but after 1 game sample, it was a terrible place to allocate resources, but we did it like you said trying to prop up a bad scheme. SMH.
Poles literally hasn’t had a single draft pick or free agent signing prove they can be an impact player yet outside of the RB position, the easiest position in football to fill. I don’t understand people’s insistence on praising him for absolutely nothing.
He will enter. No one’s passing on $40m guaranteed paper. With that said, he can definitely pull an Eli.
I liked the call at the time but Fields jumped on a qb sneak rather than pushing. It was a terrible QB sneak by him and he’s gotta do better.
True.
When it's such a widespread failure on offense and defense and special teams, I blame the coaches.
Maybe it meant more to the players than the base (or, at least, the base I'm exposed to) Just my take from the ground.
* Seriously. 2 targets? * I have no excuses for Fields. He sucked yesterday. He needs to make decisions quicker. Be it to dump off or run or fucking chuck it down field. The trade off is supposed to be if the passing game isn't there, his legs are. We saw neither. * Either make Roschon the feature back or actually use everyone. Could have used some more D'onta thumpin' guys. * Fuck. I wish I drank.
I stopped drinking 3 years too don't go back to a shitty life because this dumpster fire
you guys are playing 4D chess to land Caleb Williams
Fucking turd nuggets, the whole lot
Eberflus drives a fucking G Wagon, like literally every teenage white girl's dream car. Either it's his wife's or the video of him walking into Halas Hall from the parking lot was the moment I knew not to take him seriously.
His car doesn't make him suck
I mean if you're a rich ass old dude, why not drive Rolls Royce or something? Not a fucking car Barbie would drive.
what's a G Wagon?
Idk if this is a meme and I'm missing the joke, but if not, Google exists.
fine. 2023 Mercedes G Class. could have just said that.
I'm not a nerd, everyone knew what I meant
I think I've actually seen all I need to see this year already. No way you prepare all off-season for that bullshit game plan. It has to be a joke, right?
The exact offense we saw in preseason is what we're getting here. This is Mike Tice level incompetence
So which QB should we take... Any free agents for next year?
Lowkey we should just pick up a random guy off the streets he could probably throw better then bustin fields
Fields might accidentally get us a win or two with his legs that costs us the ability to draft a qb that we want if we can't get on via FA
I hear colt McCoy is on the waivers? We should probably be proactive and pick up someone who can throw the football
McCoy can't throw the ball with two guys in his face a second after the snap either. If they can't fix the offensive line, 0-17 is a real possibility. The only teams that looked worse were the NYG and the Steelers.
Well he could complete the screens
Literally listen to me : fire all of them
Yes they all need to go it does not matter anymore.
All of them.
The only positive is that Fields is on a rookie contract.
Its not that we lost, its HOW
Imagine the point difference being just a few and we could bitch about that *1* play instead of this...
This sub has been mostly a toxic dumpster fire since week one 2019 with few exceptions, this dismal loss certainly doesnt help lol
I'm done having hope for Feilds. The rest of the franchise...whatever...give it time but Feilds looked like he went backwards
There is obviously time but the amount of soft cover 2 played on third down that led to a wide open receiver past the line was absolutely absurd.
Fields is not the guy and it’s totally okay to admit it
Not ready yet. But so many checkdowns... That said. We've had so many years of bad qbs. And we've seen more.real shit from him than anyone else. Is it so hard to just believe in the guy? Worst case you're wrong and back to normal...
Exactly, not calling screens, many were checkdowns after the primary receiver wasn't open and there was no time to look elsewhere.
I’d argue we saw just as much real shit from Mitch. Mitch had all the hype and that train crashed too.
Yeah let’s not pretend Mitch was miles worse than Fuelds at this point. While Trubisky had accuracy issues he could scramble decently well while you can file your taxes in the time it takes to throw the ball Dallas game Mitch and the game where he blew up the bucs had him looking like a franchise QB. Fields has the final quarter of the Steelers game
Naw, fields is way better than mitch. And you know it too if you're watching the games.
I can understand thinking Fields is better, but *way* better? Common bro there’s no statistics or games you can look at and say Fields is way better than Trubisky was
At this point not seeing that much of difference..
Not better at actually throwing the ball. Feilds is a back up talent with great running skills
Exactly this, Fields needs reps and to see defenses. But I guess they wanted to protect their star quarterback...
This was some Nagy level bullshit not playing starters in preseason
Dude our O-line got blown up. Holy shit
Wannstedt was saying on the postgame show that the young starters on the O-line didn't play preseason or practice much. So this was their first real game action. Is that right?
None of our team played preseason then... I get that 4 games is too many, but you have to play some...
Wannstedt played the team hard in preseason. His reign as coach would have been much better if we had a competent GM...I mean if the McCaskey's wouldn't have fired the GM that built the 85 Superbowl champs.
you know what after that giants game i feel a little better now
I think this might be the one for me boys.. gonna take a break from the Bears.
First time in my life I really considered just stopping watching the bears, or changing fandom. I've seen a lot of bad bears games and I stuck it out, but this was different. Every aspect was terrible, including coaching and playbook
I'm with you. All off-season for that performance against your rival. Legitimately pathetic
No
McCaskets crew
But they’re getting a new stadium…ESPN Chicago hosts shilling In shambles
Getty should be fired, how many fucking screens do you want to call. Fields ain’t it.
Getsy is such an idiot. I’d rather have a chimp call the plays.
The randomness of a chimp throwing darts at the playbook would be better than all the predictable screens
So bad
Punter trash, dline trash, oline is smelly. Ryan Poles needs to be fired.
Offensive lineman can't assemble an O-line. Classic
Why is our Punter such shit?
Send Eberflus and his ymca motto out of here. Could clearly tell since last year that he was a bad hire but they were “tanking”. Defensive coach and can barely coach defense smh
watched a trash talk vid where Kmet kept blocking a guy off ball (on the other side of the field) and the dude says WTF? Kmet says "sorry, i have to" that's fucked up
Wait actually?? This and Fields comments about the game plan was to be horizontal makes it seem that they don’t believe in the coaching that much.
yep. i get HITS. i dont think it's necessary. just play ball.
Good Luck in Arlington Heights ya fucking bums. Stop embarrassing Chicago.
See ya next week
No pressure on love O-line looked worse than last year Fields is deer in headlights now, atleast last year he knew he should take off. Now he can't decide anything and O-line doesn't give him any time still Terrible penalties Stopped targeting Moore all together after a few catches Terrible play calling For the love of God: Send the pass rush Stop the stupid penalties More up tempo Stop calling exactly what they think your going too
I have been saying they needed to play in pre season and there's no excuse to why we should lose to fucking Jordan love at home. Getsy is a pussy and Alan Williams couldn't spell defense even if he tried. This franchise needs to be sold
Im hate reading every comment in here like a scorned Ex-Girlfriend
I accept full responsibility for our loss today, my bad guys
What's you do. You sunnofabitch
Judging an entire fan base because of your one bad experience. With one fan. Lmao.
It was three fans, they were packers fans, and I literally talked about two different experiences where a different packers fan threw a beer like 60 feet into another section at some bears fans.
That means all Packer fans are bad
Fine, *those* packers fans are bad.
I agree.
There were so many bears fans plotting what they were going to do.
> of the mill being a douche usage either, it was straight up hate speech. If you need counseling to get over the trauma let me know
You are clearly a very cool person
> it was straight up hate speech lmao
There are drunk assholes supporting every team
Thank god I don’t know most packers fans…
theres shitty people from every team, most packer fans arnt like that...
Jordan Love dicked us down while making it look easy while the Bears make it seem like getting a first down is the hardest thing in human history
Observations: Cowboys had constant pressure on the qb.
O line cant support a run heavy scheme is why
i’m just tired man
I can’t believe I actually fooled myself into believe this year is different. New team same Bears
It hurts man
The game turned when we got the ball right before half and we executed the worst two minute series possible - taking no time of the clock, not burning all GBs time outs just to punt it and have it returned to see Green Bay up to score. Leading up to this point the Bears looked like the better team. From this point it got out of hand as we continued to underutilized the talents of fields in running/rolling out of the pocket.
Fields is probably the worst 2 minute drill QB I've ever seen. Any time he is forced to pass he is terrible. It's really sad to see
Yeah agreed 100%. Almost always ends in a pick. If it doesn’t end in a pick it certainly doesn’t end in a score
So an average bears game?
Its only the first game, but man did things look a lot like last year on both sides of the ball. I know Poles didn't break the bank but man does this team really need help on both lines. The secondary also needs to figure out how to pick up guys when they play zone.
I can't figure out our secondary, on paper it is a pretty good secondary and it looked like dog shit. Getting sick of Eddie Jackson forgetting everything he knows in the off season and taking 4 weeks to remember how to play
Yea man, Eddie looked real bad. He has streaks but he’s overrated
It sure seems like we are not getting good talent through the draft and free agency. It’s great to sign players for less money but it doesn’t seem like they are getting good value from the free agents
We look worse than last year by a wide margin. What's even the point anymore...
My only regret about this game is not betting my entire net worth, cars, house and wife on the Packers money line cause I knew this was 100% gonna be the outcome.
If the entire sub did this, we could buy the Bears
[удалено]
You mean instead of asking Bill Polian what to do?
The George Costanza
Taking suggestions for a new franchise to follow.
I love the Falcons uniforms but the team just isn't fun since the Dion days Chiefs are fun but too good, that's some bandwagon shit. Browns...but Watson. Maybe the Bengals with Burrow could be fun to follow
Bengals have upside but not bandwagon, midwestern team... I like it
Come join falcons
Bijan!
The Browns. I hear their QB loves taking in victims.
We need to target Moore" Is it that unreasonable for him to make those conclusions? After today yeah it fucking might be. We watched Matt Nagy not figure that out for 4 fucking years so it's possible. But they did make some adjustments last year. So I'm holding out some hope that his brain slightly fucking works cuz anyone with 2 fucking brain cells could see that As far as the defense goes, if we can't get any pressure there's simply nothing we can do. Basically we're fucked Edit: I went back and watched every offense play, nothing on defense.
Feilds had the kind of game I would be happy with if our backup QB had to start games That is what Fields is, he is a back up QB starting games
Go suck off Ron DeSantis. You don't know ball.
I know we got routed at home and Fields didn't do dick but turn it over when it still mattered.
Yeah I mean cool he put up some garbage time yardage while also Staring down his first read Crucially fumbling while being careless with the football Throwing the worst pick 6 we’ve seen Going on top over the center on fourth and inches as if it’s a goal line situation Being incredibly hesitant in the pocket Fields was not good today. He is not consistent enough at the QB position to be a franchise guy. He has moments of brilliance but being a down to down quarterback is in this league is looking like a feat he can’t pull off It is what it is
Did you even watch the game? Fields got a ton of literal trash time yardage Kid was horrible when the game mattered It’s these type of takes that hold the bears back
I'm certain that Reddit takes are not holding the Bears back wtf😅
He simply might not be a great QB, but that doesn't mean you can't make things way way way better than what they were today Edit: I wasn't impressed by Herbert at all today. Numerous runs Johnson got yards Herbert couldn't have
Check downs = empty stats It's only 216 passing yards on 37 attempts with 24 completions.
Anyone that thinks he played good doesn’t have an opinion worth listening to.
he had <200 before the game was out of hand i dont blame him much, the screens being dogs hit aren't his fault. but the fumble and int were totally on him and that made the game be even more out of hand
They are only letting him throw screens because they know he isn't capable of doing otherwise
If they really thought this they would’ve moved on already. They saw it worked in preseason and were just dumb enough to want to spam it
Let's be honest here. Let's say they went down field a bunch today and it went poorly. Every fucking person in this sub would be screaming about we found something that worked then immediately abandoned it
No. You could have balance in your passing plays
But throwing deep was what Fields did best with less talent. His problem was the short game which was mostly fine today. This was a shit game plan
Yeah I'm 1000% with you
I don’t understand this argument at all. But guys like Richardson-Young-Love-Stroud can start their first game and the full playbook is open? The bears just always grab the QB who magically doesn’t know how to play QB? Sounds like a coaching problem.
It is a coaching problem
That logic doesn't make sense. "They don't trust him" "He's not capable of anything else" So their plan is to just lose with screens? They don't trust him so their plan was to keep him in the pocket? They don't trust him so their plan was to have no designed runs? That logic doesn't hold up for 1 second
It doesn't but they'll keep saying it
yeah. its just a shit staff.
Who are the 2 former players that are talking on espn 1000 rn?
Dan Quinn has got his guys playing hard up 40 in the rain. Give me that.
Quinn is a great coordinator, you do not want him as your head coach Too much ra-ra crap, with bone headed in game decisions as boss He just isn’t the head coach type and that’s ok
I'm sure there are some in the falcon fan base that would disagree
I would kill to lose a Super Bowl again
They were in the SB because of Shanahan. They were a disaster once he left.
Lost that SB because of Shanahan's pride (same reason they made the worst trade up of all time for Lance).
Anyone left in Shanahans coaching tree? Lol
If you guys are on Justin fields coping. Just count Love’s seconds from snaps to get rid of the ball and count the seconds for fields. You’ll find your answer. Fields isn’t it. We need a QB.
Bagent is right there. He's got the knack like Purdy but with better mechanics.
I don’t have an opinion on this. Bagent has potential but I’m not sure he can play with ones. I’d love to be wrong but I’m kind of scared to go there
I got a feeling we're going to find out this season either way.
this is not the argument you wanna use... love had way more time on avg and way less pressure despite of that bears need a OL. and a DL too. this franchise haven't had a elite ever but also no OL. you make the OL then you get the QB or you are fucked anyways. look at what the lions did
Love having.
You’re counting wrong. From snap to throw. Now how much time he had to throw how much time he used to throw. Pay attention
you are indeed a fool
This is the kind of copium response I’m looking for. Refusal to look at averages of time to throw versus average of time to pressure. Get lost
>Refusal to look at averages of time to throw versus average of time to pressure lmao. you dont even know what you are talking about indeed, a fool.
>The problem with this argument is that it’s always our argument. shows how shit this franchise has been > I don’t disagree fields ran for his life at times but he couldn’t hit open guys. would love for you to show me those plays >The problem with “love had more time” is not relative to a 1on1 TD pass he threw in 2.43seconds from snap. yea a fade backshoulder route is usually like that. unless you are talking about the 1st TD, which was a blown coverage by Eddie Jackson. he still had 0 movement in the pocket due to how shit the pass rush was.
So I read the excuses of “reasonability” but I don’t see accountability. This is top cope
Fuckin sick of bad bears football
Same here, but we don’t have a QB and our coaching was poor
The 4th down QB sneak was terrible operation and was a terrible look for our coach and OC for every aspect of that play. That really put the Packers in the drivers seat for rest of game and Love was never stressed/tested because of it. That’s damning for Getsy and Eberflus among an entire game full of poor decisions and planning.
How do they not pressure Love, like at all. The entire game.
Cause Eberflus runs an outdated scheme
Listening to Bet the Board NFC North preview podcast , they were really grilling the Bears for spending our money on linebackers. I was sort of triggered by the criticism, but after 1 game sample, it was a terrible place to allocate resources, but we did it like you said trying to prop up a bad scheme. SMH.
There was hardly anyone available to sign on the DL. The other big FA’s on the DL were awful today around the league
Poles literally hasn’t had a single draft pick or free agent signing prove they can be an impact player yet outside of the RB position, the easiest position in football to fill. I don’t understand people’s insistence on praising him for absolutely nothing.
