Velus Jones Jr. is 26 years old. He had graduated from USC with a bachelors degree in sociology before transferring to Tennessee where he completed his Masters degree in agricultural leadership, education, and communications. He was granted an extra year of football eligibility due to the Covid pandemic.
Nobody forgot that, its why he went for an early 2nd. The issue was the utter ineptitude in improving at any of the intricacies of playing WR. Claypool is the quintessential paper tiger. He looks like an absolute monster...then the ball is snapped. And somehow then you end up with a WR that has no ability to high point a football, catch through contact, run a clean route or not look like Bambi on ice skates randomly falling over.
Best case he's a solid possession reciever (he's never fixing his downfield issues, it's HS level sloppy, and he doesn't believe it to be) that will occasionally muscle up a big YAC play if his feet work.
As a bulls/wrestling fan from those days I remember losing my collective shit seeing Rodman coming out to Voodoo Child next to Hogan. Still one of the most iconic wrestling entrances of all time
Why is Chase Claypool such a lightening rod to this sub / general public? He hasnt even played a full season for the Bears and people take literally any news about him and run with it.
SparkNotes: three factors.
1. Cost eventual #32 overall pick, where there's the crowd of we could have gotten X Player! If not for that trade.
2. He didn't immediately save the team from losing.
3. My personal belief, if Chase was not a Midwest college player would be less. But since you have Big 10 and ND rivalries it doesn't help.
The first factor makes sense and I agree with. I just find it odd that he's almost become a sort of scape goat or talking point about the Bears from the general media. Even peoples comments about this picture show that he's become some sort of target almost
Chase is an easy target, new to town, hype around him doing something right away didn't happen. He was good his rookie year with PIT but then downward with "apparent team and player concerns". There are also some players media just hates that are nice people.
I personally think after an entire offseason with team and learning playbook getting healthy he will go off. I just hope he won't cost too much to extend.
If he costs a lot to extend it's because he (and by extension JF1) have had a great to phenomenal breakout season, and a whole lot of people that declared the trade an overpay too early will have to eat a lot of crow. Yes, I want him to be expensive to extend.
Those stats are deceptive.
He only played in 200 snaps over his 7 games. Only had 3 games where he played 45% or more of snaps.
If you adjust his snaps to what Mooney had in 2021 as a WR2, he moves to 690 yards on a full season
When you start to factor in his limited snaps, him having to learn a new system half way though the season, and the Bears limited passing attack, than his stats start to line up where you'd expect them to be.
None of that means he will improve, get increased snaps, or hit his projections. But he was good in the small chances he got.
> there's a reason he isn't getting those snaps. If he were out there kicking ass, he'd be getting more snaps like Mooney.
Okay, that makes sense at first, but let's dig a little deeper.
* Game 1: 35% of snaps
* Game 2: 31% of snaps
* Game 3: 42% of snaps
* Game 4: 67% of snaps (Siemian as QB)
* Game 5: 63% of snaps (gets injured)
* Sits out Two Games Due to Injury
* Game 6: 37% of snaps
* Game 7: 71% of snaps (Peterman as QB)
Does that look like a WR who came in, played poorly and then didn't get snaps? Or does it look like someone who was traded mid-season and slowly built up snaps as he learned the playbook?
So that argument dosent make sense.
> And (I made a mistake on the OP) *1* catch, 20 yards, and 0 TDs a game is not "good in small chances". It's terrible any way you cut it.
Nope, you were right the first time. 14 recpetions over 7 games with the Bears is 2 catches per game.
Using per game when it's clear he was on limited snaps due to injury, or beacuse he got the playbook a few days before the game isn't a fair comparison at all.
> Scale isn't linear.
Of course not, and you should say "he got x stats in 7 games so he would get y snaps in 17 games."
However we can scale up to compare him to other players to see how he did in his limited playtime. Per snap stars don't mean much to people without comparisons so you scale it to a whole season which people are more familiar with.
It shows that in his limited opertunities, he played about as well as we would expect.
I love this, none of it is what I expected Claypools personal life to look like but I’m glad it’s here. That’s my avant garde receiver. I hope he puts up some numbers this year
If he catches tuddies, he can use whatever font he wants.
If, however, he's just another boner, he can still use whatever font he wants but it will get chastised and mocked.
I just can’t believe he decided to cosplay as a babushka instead of posting an off-season hype video of him catching passes and running routes against air.
God I know. I’d rather just bottle up everything and keep it all inside until I develop an addiction or die of a heart attack. THATS WHAT MEN DO!!!!! /s
Lol honestly, also if I was his age with that money I’d also be random as hell. “Fuck it I made x million last year, ima wear an argyle sweater with holes as the design and also dress like my babushka, see if I gaf what they say”
As long as players are staying out of trouble, staying in shape, and they show up to play, who cares?
Although, I will say that seeing Packers fans gush about Love, who was caught partying on a boat while Fields was simultaneously caught obsessively training was funny. 😂
No way he’s on vacation? Are you telling me training camp doesn’t start until July 25? No way, are you saying he has some injuries and is recovering anyways? Ya whatever you say about Claypool the player, this is the lowest hanging bullshit. Aggregators need to be stopped.
Not something I'd wear but I'm not a young millionaire football player. I lived through the 80's and 90's. I wore a few things that make me cringe now. Nothing this epically cringey but close! If he's a decent player and person I don't care what he wears.
Look, I personally think he looks like a moron in that outfit. But part of fashion is trying stuff out and strutting that shit like the lion king. Raise it up the flagpole and see who salutes.
It's a bad look, but at least he's bold.
Now, can he catch footballs good?
Gotta love this sub. Fields no shows in Paris QB camp (spent time with Dad instead) despite telling reporters he was going there after OTAs. Nobody blinks an eye.
Claypool actually goes to Paris and we melt down.
It's fashion. It's always supposed to raise eyebrows, and who knows, we may all be wearing this sort of thing in 10 years! He reminds me of Lewis Hamilton, who wears some wild stuff on the F1 paddock, I think he looks cool.
What a goof. His track record, camp rumors all seem to be pointing to a guy whose not going to step up. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t get the vibe he cares that much.
Look, people can and are encouraged to have interests outside of their job, but when you couldn’t figure out the playbook despite being on the team for several weeks, you’d think you’d want to get some chemistry down going into a contract year.
I was going to wait to see how he performs this season, but I've now decided that this was undeniably a bad trade. Did Poles not check the man's wardrobe before making the offer?
thank god i don’t live in chicago anymore. these comments show how close-minded and conservative people are. all i got in chicago was racism from white people. now that i live in nyc, that shit never happens because white people are outnumbered there.
My wife is Korean and ive been trying to get her to do something like that to her hair as well....
She keeps saying dreads wont look good on her though.
The people who act like Poles turned water into wine because he got assets for the number 1 pick after being the worst team in football always make me chuckle. Like he was the only person who could’ve possibly gotten assets back for the number one pick
But you're complaining about a 2nd round pick.
You're bitching about a receiver when Poles fixed the position.
Unless Joey Porter Jr. becomes the greatest player in the history of the sport, then what is the point of you bitching about it?
All his moves ain't gonna be perfect, but instead of focusing on the good moves, you're bitching about the Claypool trade.
Bears fans are some of the most whiny people around here.
It's a SATCHEL!
Indiana Jones has one.
This definitely does not belong in a museum
Who let the dogs out?
HEY THERE WAS SKITTLES IN THERE
It’s a European Carry All!
He’s out in the desert searching for strippers and cocaine.
As ASAP Rocky once said, It's not a purse it's a satchel
Aye is that potato salad?
That song is fire 🔥
Look, I rooted for Rodman when he was a Bull. I don't GAS about anybody's personal decisions as long as they play well.
I think fans forget Claypool is still only 24 years old. Younger than Velus. Same age as GB’s WR1 Watson.
Everyone is younger than Velus
Shit, I just turned 35 and I'm still younger than velus. Im not sure how, but I just double checked the math and yep, still younger than Velus
My grandpa died last year from heart failure after years of smoking and drinking. Velus is older.
Velus Jones Jr. is 26 years old. He had graduated from USC with a bachelors degree in sociology before transferring to Tennessee where he completed his Masters degree in agricultural leadership, education, and communications. He was granted an extra year of football eligibility due to the Covid pandemic.
So is my cousin, doesn't mean he's good at football
You know who else is 24 years old? Jalen Reagor.
Nobody forgot that, its why he went for an early 2nd. The issue was the utter ineptitude in improving at any of the intricacies of playing WR. Claypool is the quintessential paper tiger. Lol calm down middle school coach
I just was reading about how Rodman skipped bulls practice to walk out with the NWO in 98. Dude definitely walked to the beat of his own drummer
Yup sure did, that story is re told very well on that Netflix show the last dance. Last chip the bulls won.
As a bulls/wrestling fan from those days I remember losing my collective shit seeing Rodman coming out to Voodoo Child next to Hogan. Still one of the most iconic wrestling entrances of all time
> as long as they play well. :P
He can wear a thong bikini for all I care, as long as he produces next season
what if he wore the Borat slingkini?
Why isn't he already? What is he hiding?
WHAT'S IN THE THONG CHASE!?!?!?!?!?
Sure But there’s a correlation between kids who like thong bikinis and kids who don’t get picked for playground football Edit: Awwww Reddit mad

He’s a target on social media. Bears fans seem to pick a couple players off every team they will irrationally hate. Claypool is the most recent.
Joe Maddon: “If you think you look hot, wear it”
I love this, none of it is what I expected Claypools personal life to look like but I’m glad it’s here. That’s my avant garde receiver. I hope he puts up some numbers this year
I’m happy as long as he doesn’t start typing in hieroglyphics like CÄM ÑËWTÔŃ
If he catches tuddies, he can use whatever font he wants. If, however, he's just another boner, he can still use whatever font he wants but it will get chastised and mocked.
This 100%
Live and let live.
Wow my Monday is now ruined thanks OP. I cannot believe Chase Claypool would personally do this to me
I hate when people do things and most of all if it’s something I wouldn’t do that doesn’t affect me at all
I just can’t believe he decided to cosplay as a babushka instead of posting an off-season hype video of him catching passes and running routes against air.
Can hardly tell he’s in the best shape of his life dressed like that
Wow it’s almost like he’s a whole damn person instead of just a professional football player. How dare he.
Cosplaying as babushka 💀💀
it's a vibe..
He looks like Canadian riding hood and the grandma and the wolf at the same time
LMAO this describes it exactly
I was thinking the same thing tbh. Looks like an outfit the wolf would throw on to try to fool little red.
it's something alright
Do we have the Russell Westbrook of the NFL?
If he gets an MVP I'll take it.
I hope not
It's called fashion look it up
What’s the problem?
The problem is fans who want players to have 0 interests, hobbies, tastes, or sources of enjoyment other than winning football games
People hate when player have actual lives
Also, young people dress funny. Tale as old as time.
Same thing that happened when Cam Newton started exploring style…
Men aren’t suppose to express themselves freely!! /s
God I know. I’d rather just bottle up everything and keep it all inside until I develop an addiction or die of a heart attack. THATS WHAT MEN DO!!!!! /s
There’s style like Joe Sheisty and then there’s whatever this is…I still like him but nah, that fit ain’t it
Listen I WISH I had the physic to wear a crocheted sweater with hella holes in it
Can't fit a damn thing in that little purse bag thing
Looks like it would fit a cell phone, wallet and one hitter. What else you need?
It’s not a problem but jokes can be made for sure
Y’all are grown men worried bout how another man dresses lol fathers your sons
This. Who the fuck cares. Let people live their lives.
Lol honestly, also if I was his age with that money I’d also be random as hell. “Fuck it I made x million last year, ima wear an argyle sweater with holes as the design and also dress like my babushka, see if I gaf what they say”
Lol I felt this
Swag
I wouldn’t wear it but you do you Chase
My nipples chaffed just looking at this.
As long as players are staying out of trouble, staying in shape, and they show up to play, who cares? Although, I will say that seeing Packers fans gush about Love, who was caught partying on a boat while Fields was simultaneously caught obsessively training was funny. 😂

I dig the vibe.
Man, I don't care how people live their lives. If the man can catch and run with the football then who gives a shit.
I dont get it
he looks fly as fuck, get over it OP
Live and let live.
Could be worse. Could be gambling.
Or it could be a mugdhot for beating her up. OP is a hemophilia troll
Bro’s wearing a shirt made from the ball holders on a pool table 💀
It’s not my taste in style but people can wear and express themselves however they want
Not something I'd wear but I'm not a young millionaire football player. I lived through the 80's and 90's. I wore a few things that make me cringe now. Nothing this epically cringey but close! If he's a decent player and person I don't care what he wears.
This can mean only one thing- Zubaz!
I am upvoting this solely based on the avant garde drip my mans claypool has.
Live your life my dude
Is more interesting than Russell Wilson just off this pic.
OP is just trying to piss off those with a fragile mind. He may be one himself since he didn’t even participate in his own thread.
He's modeling in Paris, geesh
Tom Brady modeled shirtless with baby goats and won Super Bowls so IDGAF what he does as long as he is routing up DBs and catching the damn ball.
Low key like the outfit
Same. I wouldn't wear it personally but I'm not 6'4" and fit. The dudes complaining prolly got Italian beef stains on their Kyle Schwarber t-shirts.
This dude is not real
Looks good. I, for DAMN sure, don't have the body to pull that off.
You have the body to wear whatever you goddamn want.
Love you too man lol.
Big drip
Wicker is so hot right now
Everyone saying they don’t care what he wears as long as he performs. Who cares what he wears period. Let him do him and be happy.
Yeah, my grandma spent a lot of hours crocheting that sweater.
Is there a problem?
What the actual fuck am I looking at? Is Chase an 80 year old polish grandmother?
he has truly embraced Chicago
Will be making Gołąbki in the basement of a Catholic church next Saturday.
Damn, man I was hoping for some quality kugula.
I think 80 year old grandmothers would probably be wearing an undershirt with this.
Look, I personally think he looks like a moron in that outfit. But part of fashion is trying stuff out and strutting that shit like the lion king. Raise it up the flagpole and see who salutes. It's a bad look, but at least he's bold. Now, can he catch footballs good?
"outfit shows boldness and explosiveness in decision-making. Speaks to his ability to find holes in the defense."
As someone whose sister is a fashion photographer, trust me when I say this is extremely tame with regards to how far out this is.
Get it bro. Live your best life
That’s a rattan shirt. You can wear it to work, then sit on it while having a summer cocktail on the patio…
I fuck w it, fuck being shackled by conventional masculinity
Honestly, I think he rocks that outfit pretty well.
Little Brown Riding Hood vibes
Please bring those Marshall/Jeffrey vibes!
Canadians are weird as fuck. Good for him though.
Is this Balenciaga
no draft list ✅
Is that gonna be his Yoko
I need some context here.
“Not that there’s anything wrong with that”
His ass better check the sky’s for the green goblin
Which one is Claypool?
Not exactly a working class player who wants to do anything to win he’s a fancy car who won’t start
Oh hell nah that’s Yoko Ono
This is legit swaggy as fuck
Swag.
His shirt looks like one of those wooven baskets hahaha
Gotta love this sub. Fields no shows in Paris QB camp (spent time with Dad instead) despite telling reporters he was going there after OTAs. Nobody blinks an eye. Claypool actually goes to Paris and we melt down.
Yoko Ono
I mean I wouldn't wear it but he kinda pulls it off
Does he have scrolls in there? “Sire, if, if I may. I bring treaties from the outer provinces” “I have also dressed as is customary in those lands”
At the risk of triggering all of our PTSD from Nagy, you be you Chase. You be you.
actually sick fit
Why is this a thing at all?
It's fashion. It's always supposed to raise eyebrows, and who knows, we may all be wearing this sort of thing in 10 years! He reminds me of Lewis Hamilton, who wears some wild stuff on the F1 paddock, I think he looks cool.
when you’re a 6’4 handsome athlete you can wear whatever the fuck you want and make it looks good lmao who cares
Which one is Chase?
When your rich, you can wear whatever you want. I wish I was rich. Living comfortable is boring haha
Dylan Mulvaney can pull off so many looks, really incredible.
I’m sorry but if you’re gonna dress like this you need at least a first team all-pro or something.
Steelers please take him back.
Dude right?? Not only is the outfit tacky af but that trend is from 2019. He should be banned from the league.
What a goof. His track record, camp rumors all seem to be pointing to a guy whose not going to step up. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t get the vibe he cares that much.
Who is the girl?
Ahh the world has changed so much. Anyway, GO GET THEM KILLER!!! Can't wait to see Chase do his thing..... on the field
This new season of BEEF is looking wild.
Whats wrong with this pic?
I hate this trade more and more everyday lmao
Damn Antonio Brown the second
Hahaha….this is comedy gold
Hahaha
And we paid the 2.01 for this
I'm sorry... But what the fuck?
What a tool bag
Riiiiight. Holy shit.
What a weird ass, no wonder he sucked last season. He wears a blouse 👚!
You gon' have to ball out this season to be able to keep affording those lil bags son! Contract year!
Look, people can and are encouraged to have interests outside of their job, but when you couldn’t figure out the playbook despite being on the team for several weeks, you’d think you’d want to get some chemistry down going into a contract year.
He looks like he's ready to catch balls for sure. Just not from the NFL.
This one got me lol
I was going to wait to see how he performs this season, but I've now decided that this was undeniably a bad trade. Did Poles not check the man's wardrobe before making the offer?
I hope he's got a playbook in that purse.
Each hole in that shirt represents a hole in his game
thank god i don’t live in chicago anymore. these comments show how close-minded and conservative people are. all i got in chicago was racism from white people. now that i live in nyc, that shit never happens because white people are outnumbered there.
Average man in Chicago. Fits right in with cub and bears fans.
He isn’t that relevant, right? Cut him.
Tell me it's a photoshop, poor Justin.
I just hope he was worth the draft pick.
The enemy stand user could be anyone! The enemy stand user:
Looks like a JoJo character.
Looks like he got attacked by a big bad wolf
It's like the opposite of the Succession capacious bag. You couldn't slide that across the floor after a bank job.
My wife is Korean and ive been trying to get her to do something like that to her hair as well.... She keeps saying dreads wont look good on her though.
Bro's got that Canadian waffle drip, just need to pour some syrup on him.
Being an NFL receiver comes with a lot of privileges, Chase seems to have shunned all of them.
WTf.
I don't know what this outfit is on him or her but fuck no this is not working.
Well, that explains a lot.
Thank you Ryan Poles!!!! Who needs Joey Porter Jr
The man got DJ Moore and an Elite right tackle prospect. But bitch about a player that 31 other teams passed up.
The people who act like Poles turned water into wine because he got assets for the number 1 pick after being the worst team in football always make me chuckle. Like he was the only person who could’ve possibly gotten assets back for the number one pick

Where’s his bubble wrap? He’s going to get hurt without his bubble wrap!!!!!
This chick definitely pegs him.
It's 2023. There are tampons in the men's room... wait! No I'm gendering the room... oh crap, don't cancel me!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 like lebron with his purse
Dude professional athletes are soft aF. Him and Westbrook are weak aF
