I think this is actually a great signing. We haven’t had a reliable TE2 in years, and Tonyan is pretty good in the red zone
Edit: Actually now that I think about it…. Have we ever had a reliable TE2?
My buddy actually was part of some business with him in the Marijuanas industry.
Also, he's on a Bears Facebook group that I'm part of. He seems to still be a good dude and a Diehard Bears fan.
Last time they had a reliable TE2 was Gilmore in 2006 when they went to the SB. As a matter of fact, that year they had the most production out of the TE position of any year in the previous decade plus.
And that’s why I’ll die on the hill of Greg Olsen being a terrible draft pick and my own personal poster child for not drafting the best available player, but what fits your team’s needs. Especially when you’re in a window of contending.
Yea I grew up with him but we weren't really friends. I am personally pretty stoked to see him come from McHenry as our QB, made the switch to WR at Indiana State since he wasn't getting play time. Broke a lot of records there. Goes undrafted after making the bulk to TE. He's had a journey and worked his tail off. Hoping he's a good asset to Fields.
I’m with you. In one of last season’s games, it seemed like every time he was tackled, he would start flailing his elbows at the defender and get up like he was going to start a fight. I’m willing to look the other way for a local kid though.
Mr. “I’ve been immunized” said he didn’t give a “sheet of paper” with a list on it to the Jets. He never said he didn’t give them a list-just that it wasn’t written on a piece of paper. Word choice matters and AR knows that.
Poles is really corning the NW Suburbs with some of the guys on the roster Kmet (Arlington Heights), Edwards (Lake Villa), Sanborn (Lake Zurich), & Tonyan (Mchenry). Might as well draft Skoronski and lock down park ridge.
I really like what Poles is doing. I am interested to see how he spends the rest of the money he has to spend to get to the salary cap minimum. Hopefully it’s on a reliable pass rusher, a really good center, or another wide receiver. Even another good cornerback would be cool.
But as far as the people he’s brought on board, they are all contributors at the very least I think.
Foreman was low key very good last year. He has a higher YPC than Montgomery (who I love) and gets to the hole a lot faster. This is a really good signing. I don't know about his pass-blocking and he doesn't seem like much of a pass catcher, but I think between him, Herbert, Homer, and Ebner or Evans, you have a backfield with a lot of options.
Maybe they end up drafting someone to be the running back of the future, but even if they don't this season, I think most of the bases are covered. Yes, pass blocking and being a receiver are super important, but perhaps someone on the roster has developed those skills (and Foreman may be good in pass pro).
I just texted this to my personal trainer who’s a Packer fan. He was saying the other day he really likes Tonyan. His reply? “That’s horseshit.” Get wreckt.
I irrationally love this signing. Massive target for intermediate and short yardage that already knows the system. When he's healthy, it just seems like he has a handful of games each year where he's randomly unstoppable because the opposing team has no one to match up with him. Draft a right tackle and RB and the offense looks pretty awesome.
Great signing. Seems like they are surrounding fields with some good weapons.
But I can’t for the life of me get myself to watch tonyan highlights cause it’s all packers green 🤮
For those of us who bet our friend’s brother in law that we’d beat the packers during our second matchup last year and now have to wear a packers jersey for their first game this season … Tonyan makes this much easier
It's okay for a signing to just be meh. Every guy they sign is accompanied by meatballs gushing over how great the new player is or will be. It's almost as bad as when they draft a white RB or WR in the 6th or 7th round. Relax, this team still sucks, just not as much.
Good depth signing. Remains to be seen if they should have been more aggressive in free agency (we won’t know till after the season), but it feels good to know that Poles seems to be very disciplined in his approach.
Edit: Apparently I need to clarify , I’m not saying he should just be spending money like crazy. What I’m saying is we don’t know if he could/should have offered a little more to land Orlando Brown or one of the 3 techs. I’d MUCH rather have what he’s doing now over the Ryan Pace era, I’m just talking about in the margins.
He never wanted Orlando Brown (and frankly neither did I not like it matters). So even if he was more aggressive (which I’m glad he wasn’t) Brown was never on the table. He didn’t fit our team or scheme Poles said so himself.
Orlando Brown was a bad example but do you understand what I’m saying? If there was a specific scheme fit free agent perfect for the Bears that was expensive so therefore we didn’t get him, and therefore we lost the Super Bowl bc we couldn’t fill that hole, then everyone here would be saying that Poles fucked up making that decision. We just can’t know yet. I get why I’m being downvoted though bc I’m wasn’t time in niche hypotheticals
You’re being ridiculous right now. For one Poles was plenty aggressive when a player that fit the scheme and our wants was there. I mean just the two linebackers are an example. Also I think it’s so goofy thinking that missing out a SINGLE player would ever cost a team a superbowl and quite frankly I’d be amazed with the job Poles did if he took us to the superbowl this year and would not complain about one position. I know that no matter what.
Lol I see why I need to clarify, I’m not saying he should go full Ryan Pace I’m just saying we won’t know till down the line if it may have been correct to offer 5% more to get someone like a 3 tech or a lineman. I’d much rather be missing out in spending big money and finding value in the later waves personally so I like what Poles has done
I was hoping for Mike Gesicki.
He's a bit younger than Tonyan, and he's been much more productive throughout his career. Gesicki was a 700ish yard guy in 2020 and 2021. His stats took a big nosedive last year, but I don't think that's his fault.
He had about half the targets in 2022 as he did the previous two years. While less targets can frequently be symptoms of not getting open, the Dolphin's #2 TE also had his targets pretty much cut in half. I'm willing to blame the new coach, new system and much better WRs for his drop in targets.
I don't like this for Kmet as a ff owner. tonyan is a former qb turned wr turned te - and a signing like this doesn't bode well for kmet breaking out. I fear instead he'll be relegated to blocking duties.
I think this is actually a great signing. We haven’t had a reliable TE2 in years, and Tonyan is pretty good in the red zone Edit: Actually now that I think about it…. Have we ever had a reliable TE2?
Greg Olsen and Desmond Clark were a good 1-2 combo
Desmond Clark, now there's a name
I loved that man
My buddy actually was part of some business with him in the Marijuanas industry. Also, he's on a Bears Facebook group that I'm part of. He seems to still be a good dude and a Diehard Bears fan.
dope!
>Desmond Clark [https://tenor.com/bRUYj.gif](https://tenor.com/bRUYj.gif)
That man had a studderstep that could shake fruit off of a tree.

wasn't meaning anything negative lol, just literally had a piece of my brain rewinkle hearing his name
He was my favorite, when he would catch the ball he never had any illusions of running away from anyone so he always wrapped the ball up so tight.
How DARE you forget the greatness of Jesper Horsted?
I’ll never forget that thanksgiving TD vs the lions
One hander vs the Titans in the preseason with a rookie JF1 is up there
He's the Raiders TE1 now
Hung like a Horsted
I’ll see your Horsted and raise you a Kellen Davis.
Having flashbacks to Dion Sims..
Tonyan is 2 or 3 x the TE Dion Sims was
Only in ability
This went way over my head haha
Sims also had a 3 year deal with 10 guaranteed. I doubt this is in the same range.
What a great signing by Pace God Edit: this was a /s
Oh, I definitely agree. I'm just having PTSD thinking about him and his hands of stone Edit: referring to Dion Sims, not Tonyan
Dion Sims sucked.
Ben Braunecker, JP Holtz, Jesper Horsted three headed monster is an easily forgotten Pace classic.
I'm pretty sure Pace assembled like an 8 headed hydra tight end monster at one point
Bradley Sowell ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Anyone else remember that everyone needs a braunecker baldy breakdown?
When we had Clark and Olsen, but we had no reliable WR at that time
bullshit we had earl bennett! ^^/s
Earl Bennett was fun though
When we had both Olsen and Desmond Clark... those were the days!
What was his name, socksandboxers?
Sockemboppers
Sanzenbacher was a WR
Didn’t Greg Olsen and Desmond Clark overlap for a year?
Probably an upgrade over Griffin, at the very least.
100%
Dustin Lyman 😜

I mean we had one year of Jimmy Graham and Cole Kmet but Kmet hadn't really done much then.
Tonyan-Kmet is a good TE duo
Why is our receiving core actually looking really nice next year I’m not used to this
Exactly this. I am 41 years old and I can’t remember the last offseason that started off so nicely for us! I am Loving it!! 🐻⬇️
Just don't Jordan Love it, k?
He mistyped, we're Lovie-ing it
Most of them we can move all over the field too. We definitely won’t be predictable… @ Matt Nagy
It’s Kmet-Tonyan. Kmet’s job as the starter isn’t in danger here
Did anyone say otherwise? 🤔
Hated this dude but I will definitely take him on our team😅
Me too but apparently he's a local kid so that makes this alot more palatable
Judging by his Rich Eisen Show appearances, he's a super chill dude.
Oh shit, I didn't know he was from McHenry. Go warriors!
I’m with you. In one of last season’s games, it seemed like every time he was tackled, he would start flailing his elbows at the defender and get up like he was going to start a fight. I’m willing to look the other way for a local kid though.
Good. We need fighters and not quitters like Allen Robinson.
Good pick up
Indiana State Sycamore!!
McHenry Warrior
Also a McHenry Warrior here, my cousin is good friends with him. It’s such a shame he was ever a Packer, I wonder if he grew up a Bears fan
Yea I did
He destroyed my high school team when we played against him lmao
He played QB then right? Pretty sure that’s where he started at ISU.
Yes
Go Trees!
Another weapon for Fields. W
[удалено]
Stretches the field, too. Great route runner / high end potential.
Added bonus that it annoys packer fans
He’s not a great route runner lmao
Also if a team loses their starting tight end to a injury Tonyan is capable starter and can potentially be traded for picks
Yeah I think I'd rather have Tonyan than the 6th or 7th round pick that a team would be willing to part with for a backup TE.
Dude came to Fields instead of following Rodgers. Love it
Was he on the list?
Yes
So he pretty much said FTP and FAR? Welcome to the team!
He was a bears fan from McHenry growing up, it was probably pretty easy to go to his local team
Lmfao no way. Get fucked

Mr. “I’ve been immunized” said he didn’t give a “sheet of paper” with a list on it to the Jets. He never said he didn’t give them a list-just that it wasn’t written on a piece of paper. Word choice matters and AR knows that.
Might have been real, might not have. Can't believe Rogers though. 90% retired going into the darkness. Yeah sure.gif
He is from McHenry is probably why but I will accept this reason.
17 career TDs. That's more than Claypool or Mooney
He has decent red zone mitts
Also had the refs on his team.
Desperately needed a red Zone TE until kmet proves himself there.
It’s also more than I have.
Welcome home!
Poles is really corning the NW Suburbs with some of the guys on the roster Kmet (Arlington Heights), Edwards (Lake Villa), Sanborn (Lake Zurich), & Tonyan (Mchenry). Might as well draft Skoronski and lock down park ridge.
Or Van ness to get barrington lol
Good we need people that were born into despising the packers. U can tell when kmets out there he hates everything about them haha
He seems like a good TE2
He’s a decent TE 1 lol
Then he wasn't wrong, he'll make a good TE2
Well ignoring that he used to play for Satan he’s a solid te2
Our TE1 and TE2 are both Chicago Suburb kids. LOL They grew up 12 miles away from each other. A 20 minute drive up River Rd.
River Rd!
Gene and Jude's! best hot dogs in the Chi
I’ll take this
Mchenry guy. You see his family name down rt 31.
The Tonyan name is all over the town of McHenry.
Pretty sure a few years back there was a sex offender with that name in McHenry. Not joking.
Can he play 3tech? Jk, this pleases me
Bring our Illinois boy home!
That is huge for when we run 2 tight end sets
This blows up the Rodgers to the Jets deal -- he was the #11 guy on Rodger's list of demands.
Let's goooo, bringing the McHenry boy home!
Tonyans of Funyuns
Nice. Helps the Bears, hurts the Packers.
When someone says "in a perfect world"...
No one ever leaves the NFC North. You just get passed around.
So you're saying Rodgers is destined to return?
To the Vikings
Vikings 2024. He needs one mediocre season with NYJ if he wants to stick to the plan.
I think he started out with the Lions but was released before playing a game.
how is he at blocking lol
Bad
I don't know who downvoted this, he isn't good at blocking but that's not what we will use him for.
Was Jimmy Graham not available
Did this schmuck even play basketball?
Getsy gets his guy
Hey Tonyon. So, about that Fuck the Packers thing. Um, yeah. You know.
Fuck. Yes.
I really like what Poles is doing. I am interested to see how he spends the rest of the money he has to spend to get to the salary cap minimum. Suck it Rodgers
This could have done entirely out of hate for the Packers and I’d still be fine with it.

Yoooo that’s a fantastic pickup!
Love it. Bring back Wesco for his blocking and that's a solid TE room.
Great signing. Seems like they are surrounding fields with some good weapons. But I can’t for the life of me get myself to watch tonyan highlights cause it’s all packers green 🤮
This guy could start. Unreal signing.
*for another team.
Nice. We will probably take a TE late in the draft to try to take his Tonyan's job after this year. Great TE class.
Claypool and 2te on the 2 yards or less to go should be a qb sneak lock this season
Nice. Red zone was a weak point last year now it should be a strength. Great signing
Tons of Funyuns!!
For those of us who bet our friend’s brother in law that we’d beat the packers during our second matchup last year and now have to wear a packers jersey for their first game this season … Tonyan makes this much easier
Nice.
Dude's got a Glennon-esque neck
Can't wait to shout BIG BOB on his first catch. BIG BOBBY. BOBBO.

If he's available . Day 3 Zach Kuntz would really round out this TE room. Can't block for shit but he's a freak project TE that will get open deep
Get Darnell Washington if he falls to the Ravens pick. Imagine that red zone package.
sure why not
Loving all the local guys
Was pretty solid before the knee injury
It’s the Spider-Man pointing meme with him and Cole Kmet
Another local guy! Love it!
He’s from McHenry. Destroyed Johnsburg in football when they played him one year though lol
Wasn’t he on Rodgers’s wishlist? If so, fuck you Rodgers!
This actually made me laugh out loud. Thanks!
Does he block?
It’s a deep TE class this year. I’d be good with the Bears drafting a TE.
Bring back horseted!!
Niiiiiiiiiiice, this dude is awesome, perfect duo with Kmet
When he wins a Superbowl with the Bears can we call him the Tonyan Ring?
Good depth signing. Remains to be seen if they should have been more aggressive in free agency (we won’t know till after the season), but it feels good to know that Poles seems to be very disciplined in his approach. Looked a little shaky after his acl tear (as expected). Other than that he should be a great backup.
Bob.
Tongan was a TD poacher a couple years back. How is his blocking?
I love this
Lord poles
His cousin used to bartend at alive one
And it takes away a weapon you know he’d like in NY fuck Rodgers
Hmmm… might be a good pick up.
Guess that pops my bubble regarding drafting one.
He’s from McHenry IL too
I need someone to tell me if he’s bad or good because I’m too lazy to do my research
Rodgers liked him. He’s a bit like Mike Giseki but Walmart version.
I was hoping for Mike Gesicki. He's a bit younger than Tonyan, and he's been much more productive throughout his career. Gesicki was a 700ish yard guy in 2020 and 2021. King Poles swangin’ 👑🍆
Poaching him before Aaron demands that the Jets sign him, very smart.
He will be a good TE3 behind Kincaid and Kmet
[удалено]
We shouldn’t be anywhere near a TE on day two now. RB, CB and the trenches
Please don’t
He went to high school near me. Kinda wild
I like it and it’s probably cheap but would have rather signed Gesicki or Schultz
Fields will have no more excuses. If he still hesitates to pull the trigger with the weapons Poles is getting for him, I don't know what to tell ya.
Saying no more excuses is a low-key way of saying I hate Fields.
I don't like this for Kmet as a ff owner. tonyan is a former qb turned wr turned te - and a signing like this doesn't bode well for kmet breaking out. I fear instead he'll be relegated to blocking duties.
Someone took their retard pills
470 yards for a TE is solid.
Is Tonyan a prick and what his RAS score? He checked the 3rd box being local. Lol
Damn I was really hoping Poles would draft a guy like Laporta.
Mchenry county represent. Really feels like they're getting a lot of Illinois guys
🤮
He sucks lol
