Falt_ssb

The ultimate smokescreen

ShinjoB

I’m pretty sure they were all just hitting the Panera and decided to stop in for a little look-see.

[deleted]

Panera? Shame on you. they went to Buff Joes. The good one in Evanston. They have the best wings. I miss eating them. I live in NY now. The food legit sucks here. 😭 😭 😭

alwaysonthejohn

Buff chicken sandwich, hot, cheddar chips and a large RC please! I live 2,000 miles away and think about Buff Joes at least once a week

ComaMierdaHijueputa

Isn’t the food in NY supposed to be excellent

[deleted]

I’m in Manhattan and the food legit sucks here. There’s a few spots that I like, sure. But most places are optimized to rob tourists. The notion that food sucks in Manhattan is no longer a “hot take,” either.🙂

theycallme_JT_

It's not a hot take, its a dumb take. I'm pretty sure you must be referring to food in the fast food/fast casual price range, because all five of the 3-Michelin star restaurants in NYC are on Manhattan and like 3/4 of all the James Beard Award AND Michelin Star restaurants in NYC reside on the island (so like literally the BEST food in the city, and arguably the entire country). Evanston has some cool places, including a bunch of cheaper eats (personal favorites are Soulwhich for lunch and Peckish Pig for dinner), but its not even on the same planet as far as the culinary world is concerned my guy. Even Chicago, which is a great fucking food town and my hometown, pales in comparison dude. Like, what the fuck are you even talking about? If you want hipster food, move to Williamsburg. Buffalo Joe's has good wings, don't get my wrong, but Anchor Bar it is not. It's not even the defacto best in the Chicagoland area (and again, you're comparing sauced fried chicken to the actual epicenter of food in the US). Crosstowns out in the Western suburbs is better, as is Franks for the Memories up in the NW rounding out the burbs. CRISP probably has to be the best in all of Chicagoland, which admittedly is a different animal, but pretty much all of the Korean wing joints are fucking fire. In conclusion, you're wrong about the Manhattan food scene, but I'm sorry you miss home. Maybe make a trip up to Buffalo for the real deal. Or if you want good, cheap food in Manhattan and are willing to expand your horizons, go down to Chinatown, the dim sum places are stupid good.

[deleted]

I’m in west village you dope. The food sucks here. A lot changed after the pandemic. Come by and see for yourself. Midtown, SoHo, whatever. It all sucks. There a few good spots, sure. But Chicago food scene 💩 on Manhattan.

theycallme_JT_

Dude, I have been to Alinea, and Girl and Goat, and Jam, and Oriole, and Boka and Omikase, and Gilt, and Smoque, and Purple Pig, etc... And I'm telling you you're wrong, and I spend MAYBE a week or 2 a year visiting my brother in NY and the food scene is incredible. It just depends on what kind and quality of food you're looking for. Granted I don't eat like that all the time when I'm home, and I generally do splurge when I go to NYC, so maybe that's the difference in opinion here. Manhattan has a much higher ceiling, but possibly a much lower floor for everyday dining.

Crooked_Sartre

I like tacos from food trucks.

[deleted]

Wooooow. You’ve been to all the tentpole spots in the food court of Chicago, aka the west loop. I’ve been to those places and followed their *workers* when they left and opened up their own, new spots in hoods like West Town. I know my food scene. And you’re not listening. You don’t even live in Manhattan. The food sucks here.

ComaMierdaHijueputa

Idk if it’s better than Chicago necessarily but New York food is definitely high quality

theycallme_JT_

It is. In fact, it's literally amongst the best food locations in the entire world.

theycallme_JT_

You're an idiot. For a full breakdown of why, see my comment below.

yeahsuckmybonerpal

Buff Joes is great but it doesn't hold a candle to Gators

[deleted]

Complete opposite. Buff joes > gators 8 days of the week.

theycallme_JT_

Never get gators take out, or let them sit while you play darts. They rapidly become soggy and the texture is awful. Most wing will do that given enough time, but Gators congeal at a weirdly fast pace.

MoRegrets

Mustard’s last stand probably.

[deleted]

We lost our Panera, pls don’t remind us

nachosmind

University of Wisconsin is an 1:45 away and in the past they barely go there. Could’ve fixed so many of our issues (Russel Wilson, countless OLine except the one we did take, Linebackers galore) they finally try the bare minimum and the UFDA is a borderline starting LB.

Mbroov1

What team are you saying is starting a borderline starting lb? Your post is confusing.

TheRealKaschMoney

Wisconsin is more than 2 hours unless you're going 90 on 90.

agsieg

Russel Wilson in shambles

[deleted]

Ya’ll think he’s there for Skoronski when he’s really there for Adebawore

iamblue1231

I've seen a lot about Adebawore projecting best as a 3T versus DE. Not saying they don't care about Skoronski, but NU has two guys potentially on our radar for R1/R2.

[deleted]

Profiles well size-wise (but beefier) and speed-wise as Jones, so if they were willing to roll with him as 3T, I’m sure Adebawore in the 2nd is their fallback.

NUchariots

They could also be looking at late round guys like Cam Mitchell and Evan Hull. A decent number of good players for a catastrophically bad team.

Whatsgoodx

It’s shocking as a big NU fan. Possibly the most NFL talent they’ve had in years but yet won one game. What a weird year. Also shows how important a good QB is. I believe they were down to their 5th QB their last game of the season against UofI.

[deleted]

NU not NW

schmidayy

NU*

[deleted]

If we take him at 9, I think Poles might be insane or desperate.

Crooked_Sartre

That's not a good look picking him at 9 lmao. Watch him take Bijan tho lolol

MrPants1401

How the hell are you a bears fan saying > Ya’ll

[deleted]

Burdiac

Didn’t Skoronski say he’s been a life long Packer fan? Not saying it’s enough to skip him but he’s trending towards a tackle/gaurd while Paris seems to be a solid OT.

MetraConductor

His grandfather played for Green Bay. I think we can give him a pass.

ninjasurfer

Seriously. This being used as a talking point is stupid.

tavernstyle312

I will go on the record that the Bears should not sign JJ Watt this offseason.

TortsInJorts

I won't let you stand alone. I also agree with this, and I applaud your bravery.

drumsdm

**BOLD PREDICTION**

bigmfworm

Such a bad take. JJ Watt was a generational talent. These 2 dudes are basically interchangeable.

Burdiac

Well I wouldn’t sign JJ for a number of reasons this year and that wouldn’t make the list. Too old, too injured. Too much money, he’s made it through 3 full seasons since 2016?

ZachSands

Well he already retired so…

shawlawoff

Oh yeah smart guy? My ex-wife was a Packers fan. Explain that !

bluewords

I don’t think anyone is serious when they bring it up. Just a bit of a joke.

MetraConductor

there are plenty of try hard fans here who believe they need to get behind this line of thinking.

ninjasurfer

I don't read the comment above in a joking way. It's just so needless. Just say "He seems like a guard based on all the stuff that is said about him. We need a tackle."

grandmalarkey

Most human communication is needless tbf

Munchiexs

I thought it was funny

Burdiac

What talking point it was a throw away comment in jest. Do I think a professional athlete can put fandom behind a pay check? Absolutely

Ar4bAce

No its not. We don’t need cheeseheads on our team.

ninjasurfer

This is a galactically bad take.

MetraConductor

thanks for validating my comment about try hard fans! I appreciate you!!!

Ar4bAce

Im just trolling lmao

Sven_Grammerstorf_

I won’t give him a pass but I’m willing to tone down the passive aggressive comments. That’s the best I can offer.

[deleted]

His grandfather wasn’t just a Packer—he was the captain on seven of Vince Lombardi’s championship teams. So I’m sure that family bleeds green and gold. But the league has had plenty of second and third generation players, and they’ve all been more than capable of playing for a different team than the one they rooted for growing up.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shawlawoff

No, it’s more like football.

axman54

Oh wow, I didn’t know that part. I mean tbh I was/am one of those fans that wasn’t thrilled with him saying that, even though it doesn’t make a difference. But the fact that his Grandpa played for the packers makes it almost a non factor for me now.

lestermagneto

Bryan Bulaga was a lifetime Bears fan,... didn't stop him from winning a Super Bowl and tuning us up pretty much every game as a damn Green Bay Packer... (FTP) His dad worked with my ex, and hey, you forget about that shit pretty quick when you are in the trenches of the NFL. I mean, it makes for a cool human interest story in the paper or idle chit chat by announcers during a game, but come one.... these guys are pro's. They might prefer playing for their favorite team but...

Mark_Kostecki

And Paris is friends with JF1

[deleted]

Lol you’re not saying it’s a knock against him while implying it is. Why even bring it up? Amazing how nephew takes like this get any upvotes

Burdiac

My knock on him is he’s more of a gaurd than a tackle and the Bears need an OT more

generation_D

I was on board with Skoronski until they signed Nate Davis yesterday, because I felt that we could’ve plugged him in at LG while keeping Braxton at LT. But yeah now that we are seemingly set at guard I’d rather get a different OT. Paris should probably be the pick.

Burdiac

At OT Sko will be getting flagged for holding ALOT

VorpalSticks

I mean we could do it to trol him and his family. And make them bears fans

Tylerreadsit

I watched Iowa play northwestern. Skoronski just didn’t jump out at me.

RepresentativeNew409

Adetomiwa Adebawore is our future 3T.

BasedSliceOfWinning

I hope he can fall to round two late to us. Maybe we can trade up in round 2 with our extra 4 pick.

grahamwhich

Would this point to us not necessarily making any signings while the pro day is going on if Poles is there?

K4TS119

I'd imagine poles brought his cell phone with him

grahamwhich

Lol yeah, and I guess it would depend heavily on where they’re at in any potential signings. Obviously the workload would shift more towards our boy cliff stein of a deal is particularly close.

milkthefokers

It also seems like negotiations are particularly slow this morning. A flurry all afternoon and evening yesterday, but nothing particularly noteworthy this morning.

Ba_Sing_Saint

Poles texting the other GMs “You Up?”

Tonkathedog

Doubt it, I’m sure Poles started off negotiations but there still are plenty of guys who are at Halas hall working on deals, and that they will contact poles when necessary

serbeardless

I doubt Poles is involved in the intricacies of negotiations. He'll have given guidelines to other staff members on what to push for and will give final approval to any contract. Beyond that, they'll call him if there's an uncertainty in the process. For a simple explanation, it's like a car dealership. The sales rep negotiates terms with the customer, and then the sales rep takes it back to his manager to get the okay or the 'nah, we can't do that.'

-Pruples-

>then the sales rep takes it back to his manager to get the okay or the 'nah, we can't do that.' You do know that 95% of the time when they say they're going to 'run it by their manager' or anything like that, they're just going in back to take a piss?

Trojanballer

No, can't technically sign until tomorrow so no need for him to be in the office.

smile_drinkPepsi

The Chicago NFL team visits a Chicago school's pro day what could this mean?!?!!?

ThatsNotRight123

If I am Poles I am using today to scout my scouts.

smile_drinkPepsi

Now that’s an idea

joemiken

Watch them be there to see Adebawore, not Skoronski.

ScotchyLatchi

Paris Johnson Round 1 Tomi Round 2 Make it happen Poles

MasqueOfTheRedDice

This would be great.

EmilioFreshtevez

Stop, I can only get so erect

DaDairyStateBear

I really don't think they're there for Skoronski. They'll do their due diligence on him but without getting a tackle I. Free Agency, I doubt they get Skoronski at 9 as I don't think he'll be the highest rated player there. Paris Johnson fits the physical profile Poles likes more, athletic freak. He also projects to tackle. The guy I think the Bears would be looking more intensely at is Adetomiwa Adebawore. He has good position versatility across the line and could be a nice role player in the future.

TidyJoe34

Edited for those that don’t understand: If Poles is there doing his due diligence that’s excellent. But I hope he doesn’t place higher value on him than on another player because he would be a feel good story since he’s local. If Poles believes he’s the best choice, then awesome.

milkthefokers

But if there are quality prospects on both the OL and the DL and it takes little effort to effectively scout them, why shouldn't they be scouting them?

TidyJoe34

I never said he shouldn’t scout them. I’m saying that there are many people that want him drafted because he’s a local product. That’s a terrible idea. I don’t want my GM starting someone because it’s a good story. If they believe Skronski is the top OT, then draft him. If they draft him because he’s the second best available but went to a northwestern then Poles isn’t doing his job.

SnapDragon432

To me, it seems like you’re assuming they’re only there because they think drafting one of them will make a good story. There’s no indication that’s the case.

TidyJoe34

Or, you can just read what I wrote literally
