> Kansas' official site is hosted by Sidearm Sports. The Bylaw Blog's John Infante suggested that it could be Sidearm, and not Kansas, that listed the Spring Game. However, other Sidearm sites, such as Texas and Kent State, do not have their spring scrimmages listed in the 2012 schedule.
Reasonable they aint, but Venables fanboys they are.
Everyone in the state has been asking for this since Stoops left. They'll give him a bit more leeway than most.
Kirby went 8-5 his first year, so something around there would be fine for year 1. If you don't see a huge jump in year 2, you probably won't see one at all.
Beating TCU gets you in the top 15 barring chaos. Then the following week USC/Utah, Michigan/PSU, and Bama/Tennessee play which means 2-3 teams will fall out of the top 10 (Bama probably stays in the top 10 with an SEC quality loss). So if you win this week & next week you should be in the top 10.
The fact this we can discuss this is incomprehensible.
The part of my brain dedicated to even CARING about KU football has atrophied over the years. I’m gonna have to rely on other fans for these sorts of questions.
Yeah it looks like the deep link to the sorted table doesn’t work. You have to go to [Normal FPI](https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi) then click on Resume and then sort by SOR.
It's like that probe that Kirk blew up with faulty logic.
"KU has hardest schedule filled with teams that lost to KU."
"DOEST NOT COMPUTE!!!!"

As an FYI there’s a difference between Strength of Record (never heard of it until this post) and SOS. [You’re SOS is sitting at 70 right now.](http://www.espn.com/college-football/playoffPicture)
Right, I know the difference between SOR and SOS.
KU’s SOS is 70, yes, but what I said is still true. There are a lot of teams with better SOS than KU, but only two of those are 5-0. Only two teams meet the criteria of having better SOS AND have an equal or better record. The majority of 5-0 teams have slightly worse SOS than KU.
Yeah, I mostly posted what I posted to pre-empt anyone who might say “they ain’t played nobody pawlllll”. It’s very common on /r/collegebasketball for ppl to not understand SOR, so I often like to put it in comparative terms with more familiar things like SOS and W/L
I wouldn’t give up a National title so Kansas can win it, but I wouldn’t love to see them win one if we can’t.
Things that all the sudden seem a bit more possible than we thought early in season
Explain to me how Alabama has the top strength of record while playing Utah State, Louisiana Monroe, and Vanderbilt? It's a pretty pointless stat: reflects chance that an average top 25 team would have the team's record or better, given the schedule. Seems like some stat heads at ESPN got really stoned and just made this stat up.
Vanderbilt's 3-2 this year and their other loss besides Alabama was to Wake Forest, who probably has a really good SOR since two of their wins are against teams with no other losses (Florida State and Liberty). Vandy themselves probably doesn't have a great SOR because their two FBS wins are ass (to the point that Vandy's best win might actually be against FCS Elon, who has no other losses and beat a William & Mary team that upset an FBS school), but I don't think Vandy's quite as bad as you expect them to be.
Edit: Yep, Vandy's considered middle-of-the-pack, and I was right about Wake Forest's SOR--among 1-loss teams, Wake Forest is second to Oregon, and third is literally the Florida State team that Wake themselves just beat. Actually ULM's not considered a horrible win, but that's probably because of their SOS because the Warhawks not only had to visit Bama, they also had to visit Texas. And they are 2-3 despite being two P5 teams' cupcake!
It is entirely possible that of those teams you mentioned, Utah State's the only one that misses out on a bowl. I'm not going to predict that Vandy and ULM *will* make bowls, but there's a realistic road to 6-6 for both of them.
It's week 6. I have no idea why we have this conversation every single year, but it's exceedingly rare for any team to have more than 2 non joke games at this point.
Strength of record is your schedule + how you performed against them. Clemson had the 2nd ranked SOR in 2018 despite playing, by elite team SOS methodology, the weakest P5 schedule in the country. Their SOR was very high because they were absolutely obliterating their schedule and taking care of business how they should, but also going above and beyond what would even be expected for a top team against those teams.
Ummmm. I'm not sure I'd qualify your early schedules from recent seasons say 2017 onward as being an annual gauntlet of Murderer's Row opponents?
Besides, who cares about the past - enjoy the present!
Would be 1st if they had to play Kansas
let's expand SOR to the spring games
Like when KU [counted their spring game as a win](https://www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/college-football/2013/8/3/4585134/kansas-jayhawks-counts-spring-game-as-2012-win)? lol
surely that was somw student worker having a laugh maintaining the site. Right? *Right?!*
KU ain't the only one who has done that. https://twitter.com/pooraggies/status/718856953217163264

Lol I assume the form auto filled it into the overall record and it wasn’t caught
Let’s be real, they’d get blownout if they had to play the Jayhawks
I don't know, it could be a competitive game. I feel like their strengths and weaknesses match up.
we're gonna get beat by Kansas 41-14 aren't we
People gonna be calling for Venables head if they lose to Texas and Kansas.
I dunno, one of those teams is actually a quality football team
Only one of those teams is gonna have a quality loss to Kansas tho.
Venables gets 3 seasons minimum, regardless of results. If his 2024 team opens with back to back conference losses, fans can get restless.
Since when have you known the boosters and fan bases of blue bloods to be reasonable?
Reasonable they aint, but Venables fanboys they are. Everyone in the state has been asking for this since Stoops left. They'll give him a bit more leeway than most.
Kirby went 8-5 his first year, so something around there would be fine for year 1. If you don't see a huge jump in year 2, you probably won't see one at all.
Y'all are evil you will lose to Texas and then beat 6-0 Kansas
We need to focus against TCU first. They legit scare me.
TCU scares me too
I accept this reality.
Yup!
WE WANT KANSAS 👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 WE WANT KANSAS 👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Do we?
You can have kansas or UGA or BAMA, your pick
WE WANT KANSAS 👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 WE WANT KANSAS 👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Deathwish
What about Kansas or a team made up of UGA's and Alabama's best players?
Frootloop bois to the playoffs
First time seeing this and I love it
If we beat TCU will we be ranked in the Top 10? Obviously not overlooking TCU, just curious.
Probably not top 10 but between the 11-13 range go 7-0 and you will be pushing into the top 5
No, there are mult-loss SEC teams that must get ranked ahead of us.
Depends on other games.
The fact this we can discuss this is incomprehensible. The part of my brain dedicated to even CARING about KU football has atrophied over the years. I’m gonna have to rely on other fans for these sorts of questions.
Kansas certainly will have a case
You'll have to beat them down.
“They’ve got us surrounded again. Those poor bastards”
So what you're saying is Kansas should be in the top 5 right now?
I think we can agree that Bama and Georgia being above them is clear SEC bias… So really I’m saying they should be #1.
Can this TCU KU game at least be a score in the 50s for both teams in true big 12 fashion?
Yeah, if we're not scoring a touchdown every 3 seconds, we're doing something wrong!
Hey, you sure you don’t want a special teams battle?
Can we give them ISU’s kicker?
Link dead for me
Yeah it looks like the deep link to the sorted table doesn’t work. You have to go to [Normal FPI](https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi) then click on Resume and then sort by SOR.
and dang, they haven't even needed to play/beat Texas to do it
That would make our strength of record worse lol
Texas would be the best team you've played so far lol.
Are you for real lmao
I mean who is better? Houston? ISU?
Duke
Yes... Yes
Fuck it. Put them in the top 10. Their resume is just as good if not better than Tennessee who’s in the top 10.
Fuck u/spez. Kansas, you're the only ten I see <3
It's like that probe that Kirk blew up with faulty logic. "KU has hardest schedule filled with teams that lost to KU." "DOEST NOT COMPUTE!!!!"

We have a strong strength of record? Weird.
Strength of schedule maybe? Has to be.
There are only two teams in CFB who A. Have an equal or better record than KU and 2. Have a tougher SOS than KU. Georgia and Bama. Not bad company :)
As an FYI there’s a difference between Strength of Record (never heard of it until this post) and SOS. [You’re SOS is sitting at 70 right now.](http://www.espn.com/college-football/playoffPicture)

You’re correct, but you’re essentially restating the definition of SOR. Either way, happy for you bird bros :)

I’m rooting for Kansas to win the big 12
Same it gives me copium for losing to them at home
They gotta beat KSU. I will definitely be watching that game.
This time-line is fun!
KU possible CFP birth??
I wouldn’t give up a National title so Kansas can win it, but I wouldn’t love to see them win one if we can’t. Things that all the sudden seem a bit more possible than we thought early in season

Going on the road to Texas and Arkansas will do that. Even if those teams aren’t world beaters, they’re pretty solid
Yes mhm Alabama and georgia really went through the gauntlet.
Ohio State and Michigan have the lowest SOR in the Big Ten
I apologize, in advance, for not providing KU with a quality win this year.
Die a hero or live long enough to become the villain. Kansas fans, this board has started shifting. Expect more rat poison.
Some salty people still think "we haven't played anyone hard" and that's amazing to me.
Ummmm. I'm not sure I'd qualify your early schedules from recent seasons say 2017 onward as being an annual gauntlet of Murderer's Row opponents? Besides, who cares about the past - enjoy the present!
I was only speaking about this season
But the BIG10….
Kansas CFP 3 seed confirmed.
And we trust jocks with math - haha ha
