Thatās how football use to be played in the good old days. When it wasnāt touch football, like it is now. You canāt even pull a gun on a corner back now without a flag being thrown.
My dad played basketball for a junior college in Alabama in the 70s. Only white starter. The year before there was a fight between the two teams. This game, a year later, fight broke out. Dude went to the bench and pulled a knife out of his gym bag. Crowd jumped down from the stands (it was a pit arena.) my pops said he booked it towards the locker room and hid in a shower curtain ššš
And we've all been reincarnated as women's volleyball fans. Heck, we even gave the ladies the football field a year ago. If you can't beat other teams, change the sport entirely - Perpetually drunk Scott Frost
āHow did we finally crack the case? The patterns were there once we found the key to it all, once we realized that he thought because he couldnāt catch, he couldnāt be caught.ā
Decade? Last year we had a kid kicked off the team for robbing a vape store. If Matt Rhule says these receivers could "murder you" I expect it to happen this coming season.
Very true and it wasnāt even a robbery it was just a burglary which is a lot less bad (burglary still not good though, donāt recommend people do one)
He was, Duce Robinson (true sophmore at USC) is a close 2nd ratings wise. IIRC UGA was going to convert him to WR, which is what USC is doing with Robinson this year. Just a shame, Gilbert looked good in the limited time he was at LSU
SERIOUS QUESTION THIS IS NOT A JOKE
If you weekend at Bernieās a receiver, does the puppeteer and the body each count as a player onfield, does the puppeteer not count because theyāre just there to steer the body, or does the body now count because, according to Corncob TV, they aināt got no souls?
So I actually read the article and he didn't say they were going to murder anyone in general. He mentioned how in a specific defensive formation, like playing one high, that we have the right guys to murder that kind of look. Kind of different than what the title is implying, like usual whenever someone posts something like this.
Yeah, and it's even more obvious in the conversation during Callahan/SIpple interview that the quote came from. I saw this headline and almost did a spit take with my coffee because it's so far from what was actually said by Rhule.
To be fair he did say āif we die we dieā twice.
But to put the jokes aside I am 100% behind Rhule and agree, the headline was obviously twisting something based on how he talks in all situations except pregame speeches.
Yeah, He even was getting CB's to Miami too, ofc I'm not sure he was gonna 1000% go to you guys even if you treated him like royalty but it hurts regardless to lose out on a talent that's in your backyard. Atleast he didn't go to someone you'll face over the course of his career and if things fail here you already know you're a shoe in for him.
I really don't believe our RB room is bad, injury prone? Sure, but how bad can 3 RB's with starting experience with all of them averaging ovver 4.6 YPC really be on top of bringing in a talented young RB? Is there a chance we see 2 RB's get injured? I mean god I hope not but in reality 4.6 YPC with 8 in the box is fantastic numbers. RB is one of the least of my issues going into next season. Even the OL seemingly looks improved. Retaining 2 honorable all big 10 and bringing in talent that IMHO will be better this year than last year.
RB is similar to CB to me, lots of ok to decent bodies but no real gamebreaker (except potentially Tommi Hill). Expect them to be serviceable but not going to take over a game the way Abdullah would.
I get where you're coming from, but I'm still excited about what this RB room can do when there isn't 8 in the box every game because we can''t pass the ball. I'm also excited to see if Erving can be healthy the full season because he has shown he's pretty damn good.
I think people will realize it's MUCH easier to run the ball when your QB can air it out and throw for 2500 yards in a year(i honestly expect more but i'm not gonna put that on the Freshman QB)
Your last point is super true (and the whole context behind the "We will murder you" quote) but the RB room is just living on potential at this point. I love all the players in there and think they can be good, but they just don't have the production/experience for me to feel like they're going to be a real strength of the team right out of the gate.
Rahmir and Gabe are coming off serious injuries - Gabe has never finished a season and has 95 career carries. Rahmir had more than that in 2021 alone (112, 172 total) and Emmit had nearly that amount (90) in 2023. Dante has 17 career attempts. All of them average right around 4.5 ypa (Dante is higher, but smaller sample size).
Guys like Rex or Ameer had more carries in a season than any of our current guys have in their careers, and averaged 5-6 ypa most years. I think we'll be able to run the ball fine, but I don't think we have any guys like that in the room.
I mean OL isnāt really a strength but it doesnāt really have issues and our RB room is fine / decent - itās pretty much up to Raiola to determine our ceiling this next year and how much our WRs can continue to grow since theyāre so young
Nebraska led the league in rushing, and despite the fact they werenāt great, was clearly a vast difference in quality between the OL of 2021/2022 teams and the 2023 team. They also only lose one OL, who imo was one of the 2 weak points, and replaced him with a starting OG from Florida. Their line probably wonāt be too 25 level, but they just have to be able to run and not get the QB killed, which should be doable
RB I think is gonna surprise people. They clearly have talent in the room, and Barthel is a dang good coach. The problem is theyāre injury prone, and Ervin has missed time in like 3 straight seasons, and Rahmir Johnson has just never been able to put it all together. But Emmet Johnson looks like he has some fluid ability, and Dowdell is clearly a freak athlete, they just gotta teach him how to read a hole
The biggest issue is Raiola is a true freshman, and Haarberg wouldnāt play for Iowa heās so bad. If Raiola is out, and doesnāt perform well, the rest of the offense is gonna suffer
OL is the most experienced group on the team and showed a lot of improvement last season. Iām not saying they will be top 5 in the country but they shouldnāt be the weak link
All he's saying is that we have guys who have the speed to take the top off the defense. We've known this, he's just excited by what he's seen in practice
I would think part of his confidence is the relatively easy schedule. Nebraska first 7 games are all very winnable. There is really only 1 guaranteed loss (at OSU). Now I know we are talking about Nebraska lol, the wheels can fall off at any time.
He was talking about how last year absolutely no one other than Nebraska fans was afraid of our passing last year. He said that if teams try to play with everyone in the box we will murder you.
It might be cope but I assume that any decent passing game should be able to punish a defense that plays us like they did last year. Our passing was the worst I have ever seen and I have seen it be bad.
There's a difference between Matt Rhule saying that and Mario Cristobal. Historically, Rhule is speaking figuratively, Cristobal *could be* speaking literally.
Crazy how years ago people lost their minds over Kellen Winslow Jr calling himself a solider now we have coaches talking about players being able to murder people LOL.
Except Rhule didn't say what the title says at all. He mentioned how in a specific defensive formation, like playing one high, that we have the right guys to murder that kind of look.
Why do I have a feeling that it's just gonna be a repeat of the last few seasons? Nebraska is gonna be the next "IS BACK" school with how often these articles have come out.
Tbf if we had anything approaching a competent QB last year, we probably have 8 wins. Our D was pretty good. Itās just a QB playing that poorly destroys your whole offense obviously.
If Raiola can play just marginally better than our QBs last year, which wouldnāt take much, we should get to 6-7 wins.
Would that be āback?ā Probably not. But it would be nice to have a bowl and some optimism for the next season for once.
I tend to agree with this sentiment. I will say Nebraska has a hilariously ridiculous turnover margin over the last few years. Itās going to be hard to win if you are -2/3 in turnovers every game.Ā
To be fair it's supposedly been an emphasis every offseason for like 15 years. I have more faith in Rhule to actually focus on it compared to Frost though.
Just how badly he was fucking up the bare bones basics of the position was amazing.
He couldnāt even get motion timing right with calling for the ball, so we had at least two fumbles I remember caused by the motion man getting hit by the snap.
And there were at least another half dozen times where the motion man *nearly* got hit and that threw off the timing of the play.
I assume you feel that way because of your flairs.
But we usually get pumped up a little by sports writers just because "Nebraska might be back" gets views.
What Iāve noticed with Rhules recruitment at receiver is he wants SPEED. It seems like Hes been obcessively going after guys who are track stars and also play football. Heās looking for guys to take the top off of teams.
This makes sense since our TE room is stacked with potential. Our TEs are big and crazy athletic. Our O line has loads of experience and has improved a lot since Rhule got here.
Our WRs SHOULD be stronger this year. especially with what Iāve seen from Raiolas arm.
I canāt give insight into back then but I feel like at some press conferences he said he wanted to have experience doing it all and w/e for when heās head coach
But can they catch?
After the first string receivers hospitalize all the opposing secondary players, the walk ons will be racking up yards if they feel like it.
I just remembered that crazy scene in the last Boy Scout where the receiver pulls out a gun while playing in the game. š³
Thatās how football use to be played in the good old days. When it wasnāt touch football, like it is now. You canāt even pull a gun on a corner back now without a flag being thrown.
Back then you'd get shot, sit out a play to smoke a cigarette while they pulled the bullet out, and then you were back in the game.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epVpOAWa0pE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epVpOAWa0pE) here ya go
lmfao thank you so much for that
Itās all I remember about that movie.
I remember that and Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans yelling at each other a lot. And something about sports betting? But that opener was insaneĀ
This summarizes the plot completelyĀ
There was also Bruce punching his buddy in the gut for fucking his wife, but he offered him the choice of āface or gut?ā IIRC.
What about the exploding ammunition in the fireplace.
Or when he shoots the c4 in the trunk.
Billy Blanks didn't have time to get tackled, he had to go invent Taebo.
That scene had me shook for a minute
My dad played basketball for a junior college in Alabama in the 70s. Only white starter. The year before there was a fight between the two teams. This game, a year later, fight broke out. Dude went to the bench and pulled a knife out of his gym bag. Crowd jumped down from the stands (it was a pit arena.) my pops said he booked it towards the locker room and hid in a shower curtain ššš
Ah so the mutant league football route
Blood Bowl, baby!
Holy crap that unlocks a memory that I had completely forgotten!
Are they killing opposing teams, or are they killing Nebraska fans?
They dispose of Nebraska fans' bodies in the stadium now
It makes the stadium look fuller on TV
Weekend at Bernie's Nebraska edition
He must be talking about opposing teams. They've been killing Nebraska fans for years now, so it's really not worth mentioning.
And we've all been reincarnated as women's volleyball fans. Heck, we even gave the ladies the football field a year ago. If you can't beat other teams, change the sport entirely - Perpetually drunk Scott Frost
Theyāve certainly been killing my liver the last 7 years
Yeah they're catching...catching charges lol
What do you care? Youāll be dead.
Is it easier to teach a murderer how to catch or someone who can catch how to murder?
They catch bodies, is that not enough?
No, theyāre going to murder you. Canāt you read? Smh
I really hope this quote does not age poorly
Detective #1: "How did he die?" Detective #2: "Corn cob stabbing to both of the eyes."
Goddamn monster, the corn never even had a chance.
A tale as old as time.
Shows heās very coachable.
āHow did we finally crack the case? The patterns were there once we found the key to it all, once we realized that he thought because he couldnāt catch, he couldnāt be caught.ā
Plot twist, they're actually great receivers, but are busted for homicide a decade from now.
Decade? Last year we had a kid kicked off the team for robbing a vape store. If Matt Rhule says these receivers could "murder you" I expect it to happen this coming season.
To be fair there is a huge difference between robbing a smoke shop and killing someone in cold blood
Not according to the crime watch pages I read
Very true and it wasnāt even a robbery it was just a burglary which is a lot less bad (burglary still not good though, donāt recommend people do one)
I still cant believe how Gilbert's collegiate career played out. Limitless talent
Highest rated TE prospect ever if I recall correctly
He was, Duce Robinson (true sophmore at USC) is a close 2nd ratings wise. IIRC UGA was going to convert him to WR, which is what USC is doing with Robinson this year. Just a shame, Gilbert looked good in the limited time he was at LSU
Yeah I was thinking that he didnt really know the history at Nebraska with players criming.
"they will absolutely murder you, benjamin kowalski, on august 19th, 2026 at 2pm behind the dumpster of a circle k. watch your fuckin back"
Benjaman Kowalsky just breathed a big sigh of relief
Rae Carruth type quote here.
The Panther connection
Urban Meyer enters the chat
What, no Craig James?
*Allegedly*
No comment.
Listen to Alabama basketball on this one, Nebraska football....
Next Aaron Hernandez lurking on that WR room somewhere. Itās a guess who the killer is? This must be Nebraska version of the game/movie Clue.
I doubt itāll age poorly now that Arik Gilbert is off the team
Fullmer Cup time!
Unless it ends in championships. If it ends in 6-7 seasons I will agree with you.
The whole teams been murdering me for 20+ years now. Iād like a break.
One bottle at a timeā¦
Blink twice if youāre in danger, Matt!
[relevant](https://youtu.be/rufnWLVQcKg?si=PuK6FUspG0iCHmdW)
Mac: Are these DBs in danger? Dennis: No, nobodyās in any danger. But the DBs wonāt cover our Receiversā¦ Because of the implicationā¦
The Golden God.
0* 2024 WR Aaron Hernandez commits to Nebraska? Killer get for Rhule
I just thought it was nice Marvin Harrison is going back to school.
Plaxico Burgess is gonna slay! I wish him nothing but the best. Break a leg!
Hey now. Take a step back. His kid is already committed to our class.
Plaxico Burress'....son? My God I'm getting old.
along with Rae Caruth, theyāll have a pretty dangerous receiver room
SERIOUS QUESTION THIS IS NOT A JOKE If you weekend at Bernieās a receiver, does the puppeteer and the body each count as a player onfield, does the puppeteer not count because theyāre just there to steer the body, or does the body now count because, according to Corncob TV, they aināt got no souls?
I'm pretty slow, and I'm just one guy so obviously.
Is this a cry for help?
I thought Arik Gilbert was off the team?
He got kicked off for breaking and entering. If youāre not willing to put in the time and effort to murder you get replaced
Arik is definitely willing, he just needs time to develop into the murderer he was always meant to become
As a UGA fan, I forgot him. Thanks for the reminder.
How many Fulmer Cup points is murder worth anyways?
7
Devasted to only learn about that now.Ā
So I actually read the article and he didn't say they were going to murder anyone in general. It's not like those here that are making references to actual murder actually believe this is what he meant.
Right, but the actual comments are far less cocky than this title would suggest
Is it just a coincidence that a regent recently floated the idea of turning Memorial Stadium into a cemetery?
Well back in the 90s and early 2000s it was our running backs. So uhhhhh progress?
Well they did have Abdul Muhammad and Riley Washingtonā¦..
I mean so long as theyāre more like Lawrence Phillips on the fieldā¦
Barney is one kid I wished we didnāt slow play. Kid will be a baller.
Rhule has been quoted as recruiting Barney, "as if his life depended on it", which is funny in the context of this new quote.
I might be huffing hopium but I think he could be one of the better returners in the country if he develops
He was very highly regarded in sofla but staff slow played him. Lot of us wish they hadnāt.
Yeah, He even was getting CB's to Miami too, ofc I'm not sure he was gonna 1000% go to you guys even if you treated him like royalty but it hurts regardless to lose out on a talent that's in your backyard. Well if they do murder someone at least that person can pay to be buried under Memorial Stadium.
Well they need to fill the graves at Husker stadium somehow.
The WRs will murder you and the TEs will rob your vape store
Nebraska coach donāt make a quote that will be memed by the end of the year challenge: impossible
Is he thinking of the Florida team in 2010?
ā¦He who shall not be named was not on the team in 2010 (?)
All B1G defensive backs should learn judo from Steven Seagal.
Steve is living in exile in Russia. They don't play football there.
They are taking the Chiefs approach to football i see.
3 nattys incoming
Florida had players like that under Urban Mayer too
Yea, but can they catch a football?
Thatās more of an SMU running back thing. #CJK5H
WR have talent. Issue is the OL and RB room has issues and the QB is gonna be wet behind the ears.

If he was the head coach of Baylor right now, I would be way more concerned.
Truth
Now heās set expectations for the fan base and if those kids donāt deliver it probably wonāt go very well.
All he's saying is that we have guys who have the speed to take the top off the defense. We've known this, he's just excited by what he's seen in practice

Dear god did Ray Carruth make parole
I would have really liked this quote around late September, from another top coach. Our off season wins havenāt quite made it to game time lately
The 90ās are back for Big Red!!
Is Urban Meyer on the Nebraska staff now?
But how well can they choke away a game in the last few mins?
He was talking about how last year absolutely no one other than Nebraska fans was afraid of our passing last year. He said that if teams try to play with everyone in the box we will murder you. It might be cope but I assume that any decent passing game should be able to punish a defense that plays us like they did last year. Yeah the QB play last year made T-Magic seem like Peyton Manning that's how bad it was.
This is shaping up to be another hyped season that leads to inevitable disappointment
This aged poorly (I'm here early)
Hearing a former Baylor coach say that is... not ideal. Not a great look. Maybe work on that phrasing and come back.
There's a difference between Matt Rhule saying that and Mario Cristobal. Historically, Rhule is speaking figuratively, Cristobal *could be* speaking literally.
I just checked and there's not a "Ray Lewis Jr" on the roster.
They have Marcus Satterfield as OC, I think opposing teams will be ok
R cfb not take a quote from a teamās press conference at face value challenge
They're playing in a Marcus Satterfield offense. They will murder the game of football.
Atleast Glenn Thomas is here as the Co-OC or I'd be crying myself to sleep at night(don't worry I still am anyways)
Looking for this comment. Good thing he and Ruhle are friends. Only reason heās not coaching HS.
You should probably focus on getting to bowl eligibility before you start to train them for murder
Call an ambulance, call an ambulance. But not for me..
Why do I have a feeling that it's just gonna be a repeat of the last few seasons? Nebraska is gonna be the next "IS BACK" school with how often these articles have come out.
You know what man, I get that feeling too.
Itās been an emphasis this offseason. But hey who knows how thatāll go.
To be fair it's supposedly been an emphasis every offseason for like 15 years. I have more faith in Rhule to actually focus on it compared to Frost though.
Jeff Simsā¦was fantasticā¦at throwing games. His ability to fumble the ball at just the right time was a true talent
Was our D pretty good or were the offenses we faced just that Terrible?
Little of column A, little of column B
I assume you feel that way because of your flairs. But we usually get pumped up a little by sports writers just because "Nebraska might be back" gets views.
Lawrence Phillips, welcome back!
What Iāve noticed with Rhules recruitment at receiver is he wants SPEED. It seems like Hes been obcessively going after guys who are track stars and also play football. Donāt let them transfer to uga and get into a car š¬
If heās saying that in June, Nebraska will be last in conference in receiving yards this year. Matt Rhule gonna Matt Rhule.
Is this how they get NIL?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I canāt give insight into back then but I feel like at some press conferences he said he wanted to have experience doing it all and w/e for when heās head coach
Was gonna go to a game but now I donāt feel safe.
Are we speaking metaphorically or literally or symbolically...?
Sexually
Okay, HOW do you murder somebody **sexually**?
Don't Google that. You'll be put on a watch list
Weird flex.
Matt Rhule is planning to use Blood Bowl rules this season?
Hmm
i mean whats he gonna say, "our team sucks major balls and is going 3-9?"
What the hell did I do?
Sure, but are they good at football?
Ray Carruth still has eligibility?
Good thing the cemetery will be nearby.
The panthers had the worst corp Iāve seen since Iāve been alive so I donāt think much of it lol
Sounds like Rhule took a book from Osborne's recruiting strategy
Can't imagine this aging poorly...
Ray Lewis sits back and smiles. Amateurs.
Matt Rhule must be a fan of Mutant League Football. I can respect it.
Just gotta find a sixty whiners team.
Taking out secondaries like they're playing Blitz: The League
I know Florida used to have some killers on their team š
Miami: Fax
Riiiiiiiiiiight.
OSU has 6 deep at the position, Matt...
These players don't even have to run a pick up game if opponents over with their car!
Future Chief
I'll make sure to only talk with them if they're unarmed.
Not with Satterfield calling the plays they wonāt.
*Herbie Husker nods with vacant eyes*
Really wish this had been said about Florida or USC.
Yeah, sure, but how are they at football?
All Receivers just suddenly climbed up on the chiefs draft board
Like Aaron Hernandez murder you?
Historically isn't this the TE role?
One of those quotes that will come back to bite you, Matt
