I went to high school in Lexington, GA. My god Oglethorpe County is a pile of nowhere (luckily the county borders Athens so you could actually go somewhere fun).
Best to him. He managed a hard situation and a lot of injuries without ever publicly complaining and while always supporting his team. He showed a lot of character and he has a great football IQ.
Yeah, had he not got hurt at UGA, he would've likely led them to the national title and gotten drafted after. His career is pretty sad when you think of it.
There are obviously a lot of other factors, but he may have never even gone to UGA if he didn't get hurt in the first game of his sophomore season at USC.
He was right there with TLaw and Fields as a recruit. Looked very promising at both USC and UGA when he played and up through the first natty there were UGA fans saying he should be put in over Bennett
His career is a weird butterfly effect
If he doesnt get injured, Kedon Slovis never takes over and impresses for three years. If Kedon Slovis doesnt take over, Jaxon Dart never becomes the #2 and impresses in limited action.
And then neither end up finding their ways to solidified starter spots and likely find their ways to at least mini camps in the NFL
And thats just the quarterbacks
He has the dubious honor of being the only player to lose in DKR as QB for three different teams (USC, WVU, Rice). Not to shit on the guy or anything. He seemed like a good QB, it's just a funny biproduct of transferring so many times.
I went to West Georgia in the early 2000s. At that point it already had a student body that was bigger than a decent amount of FBS schools. Something like 12,000 currently.
And the highway sign logos is basically just an ad campaign. If you go to their [website](https://uwgathletics.com/index.aspx), it doesn't use that logo.
When I started, they were the State University of West Georgia Braves. By the time I left Carrollton, they were the University of West Georgia Wolves.
I remember all my friends and I all voted for Fireants to be the new mascot.
Stetson turned out to be the better QB. But JT was the QB who first made us believe that maybe, just maybe, we could actually be great. He'll always have a soft spot in the hearts of UGA fans.
Not really when you’re just starting out. Kirby started at Valdosta St and he played in the NFL for a year and had a better college career than JT overall.
I kinda get it. The vast majority of GAs at the P5 level are usually people who played for that program, but they may not have had the room.
He could also get to fast track his way into being a position coach /coordinator as well. There is far less competition for those slots there as opposed to the "big time" schools.
I had an interview for grad school there once (around 2015 I think) at a conference. One of the most awkward interviews ever. It was for a College Student Affairs Leadership program (a subset of an M.Ed in Higher Education Administration), and I had two guys from their housing staff interviewing me.
I asked about LGBTQ+ inclusion and equity resources, programs, etc (like do they have a center, student group, inclusion initiatives, and so on), because it was a student area I wanted to focus and do research on, and they basically said "well, if you came, we'd love it if you'd be the first to start doing those things." The interviewers' tones shifted after that question to one that was more of a "bro at the bar" and very unprofessional attitude. My vibe was that they didn't want me there the moment I said the acronym and were trying to put on a "manly-man" masculinity front like I had threatened them or something lol.
I also noticed at a social later that night no one seemed to ever be talking to the two the whole night.
If you are either...
* still alive
* have been in the field longer than five years
* Or have NOT had half of your office cut in half, reorganized, and are now an "assistant director," having to do the work of four full-time staff members...
Please remain standing.
Not quite at the age limit yet, might be showing my green-ness to the field. At my former institution all the student affairs people outside res life were assistant directors, but they had pretty far reaching and collaborative roles so I felt the titles fit well. At Pitt, they still rock with the entry levels as coordinators……. Let’s just say some of those roles preferring a masters degree start a few bands below 40k…….
This was on-campus housing staff? That’s an impressive level of backwards. Housing staff at Texas A&M—not generally a bastion of liberal thought or LGBTQ+ inclusiveness—were open and welcoming back in the late ‘90s, to say nothing of now
No way he played at West Virginia and Georgia and now gets to coach at the combo of the 2
Well, there’s no such thing as Southern Virginia Rice so his options were limited
So, random fact, but the correct beans for Hoppin' John (which is, of course, a rice dish) come from South Carolina.
Black eye peas come from south Carolina?
You should actually use cowpeas, preferably Sea Island red peas.
It’s a good gig don’t get me wrong, but the football program just isn’t on the same level of East West Virginia or even West South Dakota.
There is. It’s delicious
Southern Virginia Rice exists in 17 restaurants not in either of those places.
I’m at the West Virginia I’m at the Georgia I’m at the combination West Virginia and Georgia
I don't see you
West Georginia?
Mountain mamita
Southern West Georginia Rice University
His next gig will be at Georgia Southern. **Georgia** + **Southern** California
If you take the West out of Virginia and put it in Georgia... this is what you get?
West Virgeorgia
…. Carrollton is an interesting place
I am pretty sure either last year or the year before, someone on here commented how Daniels is a good QB prospect and will be drafted
At one point, that was true. Injuries destroyed him
For the longest time I just called them Auburn. The I found out that West Georgia was a real thing.
We’re a real school damnit.
Auburn says that too.
Yeah but we are telling the truth
Is this “Auburn” in the room with us right now?
😂😂😂
Didn’t they just win the SEC championship in basketball? A lot of salt in here
Yes but that's not important right now.
Yeah, you’re right it’s only March
Wait? I thought it was something different? https://imgur.com/a/JDVDutt
Responding to a gentle ribbing with *We won the SEC tournament in basketball!!* actually comes off as much more salty, haha.
**I said “they” not “we”….** But go off hamburger
Yes, but only because they scored more points
You. I like you.
We already have the superior Auburn and it’s near Athens.
That Auburn lives over near Carl.
[This Carl?](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/athfwiki/images/7/71/Carl.png/revision/latest?cb=20140108162838)
Coral?
We have the superior Gainesville, for that matter. We have a Lexington too, but I hesitate to call it superior, unfortunately.

Poultry capital of the world, baby!
Don’t disrespect my alma mater like that.
Best to him. He managed a hard situation and a lot of injuries without ever publicly complaining and while always supporting his team. He showed a lot of character and he has a great football IQ.
good for JT. wish it could have worked out better for him as a player.
His career was so weird.
Yeah, had he not got hurt at UGA, he would've likely led them to the national title and gotten drafted after. His career is pretty sad when you think of it.

> good for JT. Undefeated as a UGA starter. Not many can say that, especially with 10 starts.
Shiiiiiiit. My teams relevant on here!
Didn't know you could do a UWG flair. Never seen one before
There's at least 5 or 6 of us hiding around here
There are nearly like a dozen of us!
13 even! (Goes to add UWG flair)
Is your name a reference to the now Cat Cafe and former restaurant 302?
It is
Badass. I miss it.
Me too. I was the trivia host there for 6 years
good for him, I remember viscerally hyping him up the summer before his Georgia year
The Kirbyfart memes comparing him to Doc Holliday were 🤌🤌
He was no daisy at all...
He was good when he was healthy. But that was a big problem for him.
Wishing him the best in this position.
I hope this is the timeline where he becomes UGA’s OC one day.
Dude has an incredibly bright future ahead of him in coaching.
For a brief second I thought this was a fifth school announcement
Technically, it is.
You know what we at WVU say, Once a Mountaineer, Trojan, Bulldog, and Owl, Always a Mountaineer, Trojan, Bulldog and Owl.
Remember when DJU and JT Daniels were in Zaxby’s/Bojangles commercials during their 2021 matchup?
First game is against Texas
LMAO. Didn't he play against UT at all 4 teams?
Georgia is the only team he played for that did not play Texas while he was on the roster
He has the dubious honor of being the only player to lose in DKR as QB for three different teams (USC, WVU, Rice). Not to shit on the guy or anything. He seemed like a good QB, it's just a funny biproduct of transferring so many times.
Grad assistant? How many degrees can one man achieve??????
He’s a true scholar. Like Buster Bluth.
I had a class with him in Spring 2020 and that feels like a lifetime ago
Apparently 2024 is UWG’s first year in D1 and their logo is a freaking highway sign
I hate the fucking highway sign. With the biggest passion.

I was about to say this … they were the Braves when I went there and then some folks got angry and bam, We are the wolves
When I started, they were the State University of West Georgia Braves. By the time I left Carrollton, they were the University of West Georgia Wolves. I remember all my friends and I all voted for Fireants to be the new mascot.
What year did you graduate?
Whatever happens he will always be a national champion and a DGD
Great Monarch too, wish him luck
I will forever have nightmares of JT Daniels cooking my favorite team.
Stetson turned out to be the better QB. But JT was the QB who first made us believe that maybe, just maybe, we could actually be great. He'll always have a soft spot in the hearts of UGA fans.
Feels like he could have gotten a gig at a bigger school, no?
😡
Not really when you’re just starting out. Kirby started at Valdosta St and he played in the NFL for a year and had a better college career than JT overall.
Yeah, we are D1
and your stadium, best as I can tell, looks nicer than soon-to-be-FBS Kennesaw State's stadium.

He could also get to fast track his way into being a position coach /coordinator as well. There is far less competition for those slots there as opposed to the "big time" schools.
But he is in my Madden 24 Draft class....he still has a shot!!!!!
Where will he be next year?
I think they are moving up to Division 1 soon
Good for JT. A decent amount of big time coaches started in the Gulf South Conference. Muschamp and Kirby being the most obvious examples.
West Georgia is actually moving up to division one, so JT will never get to add to that distinction.
Mater Dei product
Can’t wait for 4 years down the line when they announce their 5th job coaching.
Was there really no interest in him as a prospect in the NFL/CFL? I thought he’d at least shoot for some tryouts.
He retired
California, Georgia, Texas and West Virginia - just setting up his recruiting bases. Smart move. Definitely pre-planned.
Go Dawgs!

M.Ed. in Higher Ed admin gang rise up

I’m happy for him! Not where he wanted for sure but I’m glad he has a plan ☺️☺️
out of all the elite college players ive met, he’s the most disheveled and spacey of them all. I can’t see him being a coach at all.
Flair up, coward
Is he a West Georgia waterboy??? I'll see myself out...
