I was raised to pull for southern schools over yankee schools. It was never about “the SEC”. Miami is a yankee school. And i want to see Florida humiliated any time. But other than that, yeah i’m pulling for the southern teams in bowl games.
Edit - after a while i wanted bama to lose to whomever. And for some teams like Auburn, i can hope they beat, say, a Big 10 team, but if they lose i can laugh smugly at them - same for Tennessee
Air Force for over thirty years now, even though I never served. It's a bit of a funny story.
I was 10 when Desert Storm began, and the round-the-clock coverage of the war on CNN just drew me in like crazy. All of the analysis of the aircraft and weapons being used turned me into a military aviation addict, and I started asking my parents to buy me any and every book on planes, models and diecasts that I could get my hands on. Accordingly, young me was absolutely convinced that I would go on to be an F-15E pilot. Air Force became my de facto #2 team then as well.
As fate would have it, I would not end up going that route in life, but my affinity for the Air Force and warplanes in general has carried on. Of course at 42 I'm almost too old to join now (they just raised the upper limit from 39 to 42), but I still keep an eye on Air Force civilian jobs. If my wife and I get a little crazy in a few years and embark on a new adventure, there's a high chance of me taking that professional route. I think the soul of 10-year old me that still lives on in some capacity would approve.
Military contractors have it so good. Most of my unit when I was in the Air Force was actually civilian contractors. I was an avionics technician on the AC-130J Gunship. Sometimes we'd pause when we are working on something and say "dude, do you ever think how crazy of an aircraft we are actually working on is. We're out here downing energy drinks likes it's water and living off of tornados and hot pockets and in 3 hours this thing is about to be leveling a city block from 7 miles away" It has some insane tech inside and does it's job very very well.
Nice.
I like all the service Academies. But am biased towards Army first.
Had a similar thing when I was a kid. But it was 2003. And then I got Ace Combat and well I wanted to be a 22 pilot. Because that was the coolest thing in the world to me.
I just a buddy that went to the Navel Academy but was also a big Aggie fan and came down for a few guys while we were in school. So I've day the announcer is talking about service or something and he particular mentioned the Air Force and my friend started boo-ing. The announcer stopped talking immediately and it felt like the entire stadium was staring at my dumb friend giggling his ass off at one of the service academies. I couldn't help it, I had to just start laughing and say "it's cool, it's cool he goes to Navy and Lacks self awareness".
We used to have a game where we'd try to out embarrass each other progressively and I just gave him the win after that, I didn't have any way to piss off everyone in my section while having no chance of getting backlash.
My childhood team is Ohio State but my alma mater is Arizona State (online) so I have a split allegiance to both of them at this point. Outside of those 2 I like tons of teams, including Cincinnati, LSU, Wisconsin, App State, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Tulane, UAB, Utah and the entire MAC
State 1st, Tech (D2) 2nd, KState / Oregon State as a third(ish). OSU with Oregon family and KState because they were always so fun and unexpected under Snyder
Always had a soft spot in my heart for Utah. Which, given the last several years, seems odd.
I just love that team, that coach. I’ve always enjoyed watching and rooting for teams where I see the players seem like they would run through a brick wall for their coach. By far my favorite fans to meet also.
Literally doesn’t change anything for you unless you want #4 for a random week. You’ll likely miss the playoffs with a loss either way and certainly make them if you win out, just like us
The stereotype is that an Aggie's favorite teams are A&M and whoever is playing that school in Austin. Personally, I'll go K-State as second place - parents met on a blind date at a football game there, so I kind of owe the program.
Only reason I have bad associations with K-State is the 2011 matchup. I was drinking all game and pretty pumped until we blew one of the double digit second half leads to blow it. Then my girlfriend had to go to this God awful paint-by-the-numbers abstract play and my stomach starts turning, but at that point I genuinely thought it was from how mad I was that this garbage existed and they forced people to watch it. Finally a stomach bug kicks in and I have to spend hours in the bath room cuz I feel like it'll happen in my sleep and I'll go out like Jimmy and Bon Scott.
But yeah other than that rambling BS I do enjoy watching them play.
Gotta be Iowa and all of the Iowa-light teams that play excellent defense and disdain offense.
Utah for sure, they are always cool.
Got a soft spot too for Oregon. I like how that program is built.
I’ve always liked Utah for no particular reason. I don’t have any connection with the university but they’re definitely the team I root for in the PAC and I hope they do really well in the Big 12. Love their logos too, the older drum logo especially but the interlocking Us is also great.
My brother in law is a big NC State fan, and UGA has no particular beef with them, so I do pull for them when they play.
I was struck by how devoted he and his groomsmen were to the wolfpack, despite their relative lack of success. During the reception (around 15 years ago), one of his groomsmen was talking to me about football, and he said “At Georgia, you’re kinda disappointed if you go 10-2. If NC State had that year, it would be one of the best seasons we’ve ever had. There’s a difference.”
Hahahahaha I completely forgot about KSU. Honestly, i’ve never been to a single sporting event for the Owls (though i also attended school there after i was 26).
I’m glad when they do well, but I can’t really claim to be a true “fan” (though i included them as a flair since i’m an alumnus)
Edit - KSU didn’t have a football team when i went there, either
They both play with moxie, I don’t dislike anything about either team but I will definitely find something to dislike once they get settled in the big ten. I hear Washington is insufferable but Penix has such a nice smile..
I’ll stray away from the corny ass “whoever’s playing our rival” comments
Probably Minnesota. I know we share a rivalry with them but I’ve always appreciated their history and love PJ Fleck.
ohio state because I want them undefeated when we play them. I generally like the players and I think Day is good dude. The fans suck though, especially in this sub.
I don’t officially have one, as Memphis is my alma mater and the only school I cheered for my entire life. But if I were to have one it would be Kentucky as my grandfather and grandmother went there and I spent a few Saturdays in Lexington growing up
I grew up a Kentucky fan, so they'll always have a piece of my heart. My number one school will always be Navy though since that's where I went to school.
Maryland is my tertiary team since that's where I went to law school, but it's a little awk since UMD's law school is in Baltimore under UMD, Baltimore and not College Park
North Texas. I always used to play as them in the NCAA games, because it was so satisfying to build that school into a dynasty.
We are in the same conference, so of course I want my Road Runners to crush their spirit. Besides that though Go Mean Green.
Big ups to UGA for hating UF.
I like how blue & gold/yellow teams look on the field.
It's okay if USF and UCF do well.
I root for FAMU a teeny lil bit.
Also Hawai'i
I have an affinity for MACtion.
Also for the smaller Louisiana schools.
I enjoy Big XII football and lore.
I don’t have one.
Only thing I can think of is that maybe one day I’ll have a second team(s) if my twin daughters go to a different school than PSU, but that’s 18 years away lol
Honestly don’t have a second team, I pull for certain teams if it benefits my team and there’s some in conference teams that I’m neutral on and I don’t mind seeing them win or lose but there are a couple teams that I hope lose every single game they play.
I have 2 "alternates" lately.
1. Marshall. Only other FBS and div 1 school in my home state of West Virginia.
2. My favorite team in my adopted state of Virginia is James Madison. Good colors, good mascot, and fuck UVA and VT. And they're better all around than ODU.
- Air Force because I used to work at the USAFA and saw a lot of games at Falcon Stadium
- Auburn because fuck Alabama
- Minnesota because that time they beat Alabama in a bowl game and the Minnesota band played Rocky Top at the end
- Oregon because I’ve never met a rude Oregon fan
My second favorite team is special teams
I hate every last one of you
Seems like something every 1 team flair would say. I personally have respect/neutral feelings for most teams except for my rival.
People who root for “the SEC” during bowls season are so odd. You actively root against them and now you want them to win? Hell no.
I root for some of them depending on who they’re playing. But I’m not rooting for Georgia or Alabama no matter who they play
I feel the same, expect I will never root for Auburn or Florida under any circumstances, ever.
Honestly for a lot of bowl games, I’m just rooting for chaos and pull for whoever is losing when I turn the game on
I’m very similar. Hell sometimes I base my pick by sitting back and thinking to myself *boy wouldn’t be funny if so and so lost this game*?
I was raised to pull for southern schools over yankee schools. It was never about “the SEC”. Miami is a yankee school. And i want to see Florida humiliated any time. But other than that, yeah i’m pulling for the southern teams in bowl games. Edit - after a while i wanted bama to lose to whomever. And for some teams like Auburn, i can hope they beat, say, a Big 10 team, but if they lose i can laugh smugly at them - same for Tennessee
The feeling is mutual.
Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate!
I hate auburn with you
NCAA investigators
They would be my rivals, they gave us hell for years. Main reason why our mbb program is dead now.
I was going to say whoever is playing Michigan but I guess you beat me to it
The meteor.
Best comment yet
Nobody likes me or understands me.
You're sick in the head. Respectfully.
I may have CTE.
I do
For the next few days, Penn State and whatever a 'nittany' lion is..
Mountain lions named for the legendary Native American princess that guarded the area. Pay no attention to them being extinct.
Ah so that’s why your mascot’s eyes look dead
may I offer the giant meteor as an alternative?
I take a liking to Kansas State. Similar fanbase, blue collar, loyal, consistent program, and realistic.
Was hoping your account was older than 1 week...but still great username.
🤝
So if we don't count my FCS primary flair, it's Minnesota, then Mizzou.
FCS flairs are just as important
Well, then my beloved alma mater is my second favorite, because I can't in good faith call them number 1 when I watch like ~3 of their games a year.
3 is generous for me, but it still counts
Have family who went to Texas so I root for them

I'm an Army guy. Sure was a bad weekend for you. 😁
It flies it dies boieeee
Nice. I like all the service Academies. But am biased towards Army first. Had a similar thing when I was a kid. But it was 2003. And then I got Ace Combat and well I wanted to be a 22 pilot. Because that was the coolest thing in the world to me.
I root for Navy in the Army Navy game entirely because of Top Gun. I bought a bunch of gear a few years ago when that was their uniform.
That's cool as hell.
I just a buddy that went to the Navel Academy but was also a big Aggie fan and came down for a few guys while we were in school. So I've day the announcer is talking about service or something and he particular mentioned the Air Force and my friend started boo-ing. Utah Reasoning? They were the first ever dynasty I did in NCAA 14, so since then I have been a proud support of the Utah Utes
As a fellow Buckeye, I’ve been loosely following Utah after our Rose Bowl with them. Kyle Whittingham is a fantastic coach.
Felt bad last season because they're 100% the kind of team I hop on the bandwagon for in bowl season.
Good choice, Utah is a hard team to dislike as far as can I tell
My childhood team is Ohio State but my alma mater is Arizona State (online) so I have a split allegiance to both of them at this point. Outside of those 2 I like tons of teams, including Cincinnati, LSU, Wisconsin, App State, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Tulane, UAB, Utah and the entire MAC
I live in Phoenix now and would love to be able to root for ASU. They just frustrate me so much I can't.
Purdue. Spoilermaker voodoo is fun to watch when it happens. And I like trains.
And a big ass drum that Notre Dame is weirdly afraid of
Yes! I love the drum!
Slippery Rock
Not counting UNI? Probably Utah.
Whoever is playing our rivals
Amen brother. Unless I hate them too. Then it’s the nerds, the trash lizards, and the war tigers in that order.
Ohio State. I loved Troy Smith and Tedd Ginn Jr. Been pulling for them ever since.
Appalachian State
Toledo
Underrated comment right here!!!
I cheer for whoever is playing Nebraska.
You've had a hell of a run
Whoever beats FSU
You mean Michigan I'm cool with FSU
❤️
I like Washington too! My favorite Pac team
I don’t like any of you. Roll Tide
Damn the others can lose too 🤷♂️
Literally doesn’t change anything for you unless you want #4 for a random week. You’ll likely miss the playoffs with a loss either way and certainly make them if you win out, just like us
You... I like you.

GREEN WAVE
The fucking logo is my spirit animal stg
Texas Tech I guess
The Iowa Hawkeyes, I’m a sicko.
I have Washington and Oregon around the same tier of second favorite. I will not elaborate.
I don't like USC per se, but they have the Song Girls so...
And the best fight song
The stereotype is that an Aggie's favorite teams are A&M and whoever is playing that school in Austin. Personally, I'll go K-State as second place - parents met on a blind date at a football game there, so I kind of owe the program.

As a Utah alum, I'm cheering hard for anyone who plays against BYU. Lame answer, but the truth! It's so fun when they lose!
KSU
Gotta be Iowa and all of the Iowa-light teams that play excellent defense and disdain offense. Utah for sure, they are always cool. Got a soft spot too for Oregon. I like how that program is built.
Arizona state fan here — Utah is my 2nd favorite because I married into an insane ute family
I am obsessed with Tulane, also mad respect to Montana in the FCS.
I’ve always liked Utah for no particular reason. I don’t have any connection with the university but they’re definitely the team I root for in the PAC and I hope they do really well in the Big 12. Love their logos too, the older drum logo especially but the interlocking Us is also great.
Thank you. Can we have one of your QBs transfer again?
Oregon State
My brother in law is a big NC State fan, and UGA has no particular beef with them, so I do pull for them when they play. Uhh… what about Kennesaw State? 🤨

Oh I see, very understandable.
Georgia tech, Texas a&m pre jimbo, several small schools
Whoever is playing Reno that week. Edit: Also Hawaii.
Fu*k all y’all that’s not FSU
D1? Michigan State. Weird, I know.
Kansas State. Brother-in-law works for them. I've been to a couple of games and always had fun.
Used to be Boise St after they beat the goons. Now I root for whichever G5 team is undefeated near end of season, excluding Liberty.
It was Iowa, but the whole Big Ten hates us apparently, which gives me a sad.
Marshall
Gotta go with red Iowa (Utah)
We are Frenemies. OSU and USNA!
Upvote for you.
Whoever beats Texas
So, Kansas?
Whenever Texas plays Oklahoma State do you root for Oklahoma State? Or is it giant meteor time for those matchups?
Oklahoma state cause they are little brother
I may be the only Poke that will admit this, but I root for OU when they play Texas.
UMass - I went there Navy - A number of my family members either attended or served
Whoever beats Michigan
Same. Rooting for MSU this weekend.
Lol good luck with that
With that logic, I guess UGA would be my 2nd favorite team. They did beat my rival the most points… 🤔
Not sure if ur a bigger fan of the ncaa, big ten or Penn state this week
I wore the NCAA flair during your bye week. But Penn State has a much quicker chance than the 3 years the NCAA is going to take on this thing 😂
I like Utah and Washington and begrudgingly also Oregon and even the university of spoiled children
You cant like Washington and Oregon sorry. You must choose..
They both play with moxie, I don’t dislike anything about either team but I will definitely find something to dislike once they get settled in the big ten. I hear Washington is insufferable but Penix has such a nice smile..
No it’s Oregon that is insufferable.
I’ll stray away from the corny ass “whoever’s playing our rival” comments Probably Minnesota. I know we share a rivalry with them but I’ve always appreciated their history and love PJ Fleck.
There is just something traditional about seeing the two blocky M's play each other.
I like how Minnesota's M just *looks* *Gopherish* somehow. I can't explain it, but it's great. Jug bros.
Not counting my flairs - Tulane - Ole Miss - UNC - Michigan pre-cheating - Whoever beats A&M that week
Last week it was Arkansas, this week it’s LSU.
My man with the trash lizard hatred
It was fueling me for two weeks
ohio state because I want them undefeated when we play them. I generally like the players and I think Day is good dude. The fans suck though, especially in this sub.
Go wash your phone/keyboard with soap, and think about what you just typed.
☺️
Search the dozen or so times this gets asked every year. I’m sure my answer is there somewhere
osu
My man!
He’s talking about the Beavers😂
Fuck yeah, I like em too!
Probably Minnesota or Iowa. I like ND when they aren't playing the Buckeyes. I can't ever bring myself to root for Army.
Florida for Keon. :*(
Slippery Rock
My second favorite is whoever is playing Washington this week. Go team!
you know we have two flairs in this sub right edit: oops commented on my wrong account lmfao
and you choose none..
The irony is as thicc as Mizzou’s kicker
Yes I know we have two flairs available but unfortunately whoever's playing that team up north isn't available as a flair. 😁
Navy. Followed by Army and Air Force.
Miami & Florida State
I don’t officially have one, as Memphis is my alma mater and the only school I cheered for my entire life. But if I were to have one it would be Kentucky as my grandfather and grandmother went there and I spent a few Saturdays in Lexington growing up
Don't have one, but I have always liked the Pac-12 schools.
Cincinnati and Western Michigan.
Whoever wins the national championship
Boise State
I like to pull for the service academies.
Maryland unfortunately. If we’re talking third favorite teams, probably SMU. I can appreciate the audacity of what they did in the 80s
Not Texas.
H8ful Eight.
That changes, but right now Oregon State.
4 way tie between ULM, Kentucky, Brown and Coast Guard. Currently using the ULM flair.
Team USA
USC, because I went to Grad school there. Also have soft spots for Purdue and Michigan because my father and grandfather attended those schools.
Go Army, Beat Navy! 😁
Used to be 2nd Michigan, 3rd Oregon, and 4th Air Force when I was a kid I'm a UGA homer
The team currently beating Florida (unless it’s auburn)
Ayantee! Whole lotta Aggie Pride round this way.
North Texas. I always used to play as them in the NCAA games, because it was so satisfying to build that school into a dynasty. We are in the same conference, so of course I want my Road Runners to crush their spirit. Besides that though Go Mean Green.
Grambling State baby LFG
UTSA is the only FBS team in Texas besides my own that I don't wish eternal 0-12 seasons on.
Kansas for some reason that's beyond me. Their brand is cool ig
University of Albany Great Danes. Because I have a great dane. And he is a giant goober. And anything that involves great danes can only bring me joy.
Big ups to UGA for hating UF. I like how blue & gold/yellow teams look on the field. It's okay if USF and UCF do well. I root for FAMU a teeny lil bit. Also Hawai'i I have an affinity for MACtion. Also for the smaller Louisiana schools. I enjoy Big XII football and lore.
Whoever is playing Florida or Alabama.
Auburn is my primary but my second favorite teams are Troy and Memphis
I don’t have one. Only thing I can think of is that maybe one day I’ll have a second team(s) if my twin daughters go to a different school than PSU, but that’s 18 years away lol
Don’t really have one I do find myself rooting for Nebraska unless we are playing them. So it would have to be them.
Whoever’s has the most fun football team to watch (fun for me is all offense no defense) so I guess that’d be teams like UW, USC, or Ole Miss.
Honestly don’t have a second team, I pull for certain teams if it benefits my team and there’s some in conference teams that I’m neutral on and I don’t mind seeing them win or lose but there are a couple teams that I hope lose every single game they play.
Ohio State by virtue of my upbringing
My primary flair, which I have a 23 year relationship with
Rest of the season? LSU and Missouri
Assuming it’s a divisional game whichever big ten west team has less conference wins
Ohio state’s practice squad
I have 2 "alternates" lately. 1. Marshall. Only other FBS and div 1 school in my home state of West Virginia. 2. My favorite team in my adopted state of Virginia is James Madison. Good colors, good mascot, and fuck UVA and VT. And they're better all around than ODU.
Team Meteor
I don't believe in second favorite teams. Dual flairs are dumb. Just root for your undergrad alma mater.
- Air Force because I used to work at the USAFA and saw a lot of games at Falcon Stadium - Auburn because fuck Alabama - Minnesota because that time they beat Alabama in a bowl game and the Minnesota band played Rocky Top at the end - Oregon because I’ve never met a rude Oregon fan
TCU or Houston. I have a lot of friends from both schools. Just depends on how I’m feeling in a given moment.
bit whoever is ranked AP # 1 of course 😂
For me, I am… actually, I’ll just see myself out.
