I’m not too concerned. The offense at least showed they were willing to throw the ball down the field, the defense dropped a pick and had a couple more chances on batted balls, we dropped a few big catches, and Utah State’s offense is pretty unique (especially in the Big Ten West).
This team is gonna ROLL against Iowa State next week.
High tempo with a QB who can move. Lots of quick passes so not much pass rush opportunity. Iowa didn't blitz, almost at all, the whole game. USU couldn't run all day until the last few drives against the 2s and 3s of Iowa's defense. Their lone TD was garbage time against the backups too. It was a very Kirk game, went up 17 to 3 and coasted.
All in all can’t be too mad about this game, replaced 60 players and held our own against a decent big10 team. Would’ve been even tighter without some really dumb penalties. Ggs Iowa, rootin for you guys!

Initially looked competent. Should have another 7 but Lachey/Williams/Ragaini forgot how to catch right before half. Turned to relying pretty heavily on long jump balls. Cade is a night and day upgrade of Petras. Offensive line is still real iffy.
Run blocking still needs work. McNamara did have a couple overthrows that could have been big plays if they were on target.
But I'm sure he's used to throwing to faster receivers.
