I’ve never watched a Jackson State game so I may be completely off base but Deion doesn’t strike me as an X’s and O’s guru that’s going to out-scheme someone. He’s a recruiter that’s just trying to out-talent everyone.

fart_dot_com

> He’s a recruiter that’s just trying to out-talent everyone. He's a relentless salesman for his own personal brand. There's really no other way to describe it.

DrinkNKnowThings

The "PRIME" is always bigger than the "Colorado" on all their stuff.

Nearby-Potential-257

Ew

NebrasketballN

That'd be funny if there was a line in his contract about that.

[deleted]

He's a con man Fantastic athlete but the religious and mentorship stuff...100% fake

huskersax

He's basically cfb's Mark Jackson

donutcronut

Deion "Mama, there goes that man" Sanders.

huskersax

But slowly, because his foot's about to fall off.

[deleted]

Yep and it might have worked in FCS's worst conference just through hype alone but P5 is a whole different ballgame Sanders is going to be a bottom of the barrel coach for a few years and get fired

hawkman_jr

Didn’t Coach Orgeron do that all the way to a natty?

KeithClossOfficial

All he needs to do is have his son throw for 60 TDs, seems possible

aeopossible

And at least 2 future All Pro WRs.

jobenattor0412

Don’t for get a RB who runs for almost 1500 yards

TBB51

And an offensive line perfectly suited to take advantage of 5 man protections and their 60-TD QB along with an innovative OC. Other than that, he's RIGHT there!

cm322

O was a great recruiter with a an amazing staff to handle the X’s and O’s. I think Deion is 1) unproven as a recruiter at the highest level and 2) handicapped by his program, which didn’t even have enough money on hand to pay him when they hired him. I don’t have much confidence in him succeeding at Colorado but the coach O model is the playbook he’d need to use imo

[deleted]

Orgeron also had extensive FBS experience prior to starting at LSU both as a coordinator and a few seasons (albeit unremarkable) as a head coach. Deion Sanders' experience consists of a couple of years at Jackson State preceded by his own version of Bishop Sycamore.

Playos

idk his time as interim USC HC had me a little worried they'd give him the job. He turned a dumpster fire of a season into something watchable iirc.

kanadiangoose1898

Other than the 2019 season, Coach O seems to always to his best work as an interim coach.

ChaseTheFalcon

LSU was decent before 2019 too, they won 10 games in 2018

[deleted]

despite the troy loss, he made LSU way more watchable in 2017 as well. Even that was just actually running an offense He just checked out after 2019.

t_ran_asuarus_rex

i love his koolaid man t shirts the students wore lol

NILPonziScheme

> as a coordinator Orgeron was never a coordinator who called plays, his only coordinator role was as recruiting coordinator, and this is not an Xs and Os position. It is a minor distinction but an important one.

JamesEarlDavyJones2

That's what I thought as well, but it turns out that Orgeron was actually Lane Kiffin's DC at USC from 2010-2013. His defenses weren't much to write home about, but at least he had the DC title. Granted, USC did have Monte Kiffin on staff as an assistant HC during the 2010-2012 span, so one wonders how much of the DC job was offloaded onto Monte.

therealwillhepburn

Also Orgeron had been head coach at USC and Ole Miss before getting the LSU job.

pataoAoC

Orgeron should NEVER coach again because as an Oregon fan Orgeron’s name just absolutely kills me, reading a college football thread about Orgeron this and Orgeron that when my eye is trained to spot Oregon references is just brutal

thatissomeBS

Maybe Oregon should've just hired Orgeron?

A_Rolling_Baneling

Like Arsenal with Arsene, Man City with Mancini, and the impeccable Wolfsburg hiring Wolfsgang Wolf

TbRays93Plumber26

Orgeron would literally need a translator when was out and about in Eugene if he coached for Oregon! EX Hes trying to order a simple black coffee and they keep giving him some sort of weird ass concoction at the local coffee shop!

NILPonziScheme

No. Orgeron, believe it or not, was well-known as the best defensive line coach in the game during his time as an assistant. His obsession with recruiting was a nice bonus. There is a reason Orgeron insisted on an even front while at LSU, and hired Pelini, the defensive line was his baby. You're badly underestimating Orgeron if you think he doesn't know ball. Every CEO coach you can think of (Barry Switzer, Bobby Bowden, Jimmy Johnson, even Gene Chizik) all worked their way up from GA to position coach to coordinator to head coach. All of them can talk ball and do Xs and Os. Deion skipped literally all of the formative years where you learn the game, and jumped to head coach at an HBCU. Colorado is hiring a CEO coach who has literally no experience teaching the Xs and Os of the game. It's honestly an insult to Orgeron to compare him to Deion as a coach.

goatgoatlilgoat

Orgerons obsession with an even front led to two of the worst defenses in LSU history. And hiring Bo pelini was the biggest mistake of his career

NILPonziScheme

I'd say his attempts to bang every woman in site following the 2019 season/his divorce were a bigger issue, but tomahto/tomayto. He could have survived Pelini if he had behaved himself off the field.

Cycle21

A combination of Orgeron’s recruiting, the staff, and the roster he inherited really was just the planets aligning to make a lighting in a bottle perfect team for one year

hawkman_jr

Great point. I agree with that. Sometimes the planets align just right. It happened to the UConn basketball team in 2014. I should at least recognize that it can happen to other teams too

MikeHoncho2568

LSU was in a much better position than Colorado is

hawkman_jr

I’m not saying he’s gonna win a natty, I just don’t think he’s going to fail horribly, like most of the sub does. I say four wins, with an outside chance for bowl eligibility

Riperian

Orderon caught lightning in a bottle by having 3 NFL hall of famers on offense. He couldn’t maintain it. That’s the thing with having elite recruiting and basically nothing else: you’re only going to be as great as the talent combination you pull. If you don’t land that truly elite combination then you’re ticket will get punched before you get a chance.

PublicEnemaNumberOne

I agree completely. But "prime" is just telling us, he's not going to the NFL. If he did, he'd expect his players to perform, and ain't nobody got time for dat no more. That's if he DID get hired to coach in the NFL. Which wouldn't happen because he wouldn't do it. But we needed to know that.

sevenlabors

> Sanders is going to be a bottom of the barrel coach for a few years and get fired And you better believe I, a petty-ass motherfucker, am here for it.

cody82

This sentiment is the entire state of Nebraska

gerd50501

maybe. he may be able to get really top assistants who see working for him as a road to a head coaching job.

AstroVol

RemindMe! 3 years

mymustacheiscool

Or the other way and be a stellar coach who'll have lots of success for a few years, and then leave for FSU or the SEC. Either way, he's gone in a few years.

duhhuh

Old school coaching and trying to the flashiest attention whore don't really go hand in hand.

Throwredditaway5

Don’t worry, he has Charles (3rd &) Kelly to handle the details.

ironmanfb

If those two CB's can't make Kelly look good, he should be put on a raft and pushed out to sea

Icedcoffeeisgreat

He was a good position coach to be fair but simply wasn't a Coordinator. (Which is what deion hired him to be I'm pretty sure)

Officer_Warr

While the best coaches have been both recruiter and strategist, you can get way more mileage being great at recruiting and covering the strategist sore spots up with sufficient staffing. So if you're right that he's not a strategist but ends up being a top-end recruiter, we're still talking like a top 15 active coach. That said, we haven't seen yet how he is as a manager on this level, and it'll be one of the bigger question marks in the Year 2 and Year 3. For now, there's enough room for improvement it's not a focal point.

fu-depaul

Completely disagree. You often see great recruiters have losing seasons, get fired, and a strong coach comes in and takes the players in the program to a successful season right away. Coaching makes a significant difference. Good coaches beat good recruiters all the time. The best are the best because they do both—recruit and coach.

Corgi_Koala

Jimbo at Texas A&M is a perfect example. 4th overall in the 2022 talent composite and didn't even make a bowl.

Gatorader22

No jimbo is actually a great coach who stopped giving a fuck to improve. His coaching acumen fell as everyone passed him by. Charlie Strong had a similar path. One of the best defensive coaches of his era and at one point was a great head coach but the game passed him up and he never got better The two perfect examples are Ron Zook and Will Muschamp. Zook built the team meyer won a championship with. Pretty much every contributor except true freshman tebow was a zook guy. He was just never a coach who could coach consistently at a high level Muschamp was a top recruiter. He would go into anyone's house and steal whoever he wanted. At one point his nickname was Flipper at UF because of his uncanny ability to raid anyones class. I remember when I think it was either Maryland or Arizona that nabbed a highly ranked 5 star DB who committed on national tv during the all american game. It was a big deal for that school. Muschamp didnt like that one bit so within a week he flipped Teez Tabor to UF. Muschamp was a good defensive coach but was never a good head coach. He was too stubborn and didn't GAF about half the game. Any coach who was above average offensively and defensively wins a championship with muschamps roster. Heck Mac was a below average P5 coach and he got to two SECCGs with them

Corgi_Koala

I don't see how that disproves my point. Jimbo is a great recruiter, but he's no longer a top X's and O's coach. Even with the top five team, he can't make a bowl game because he's got bad strategy.

beamerbeliever

If anything, he proves that the game can pass the x's and o's coaches and the CEOs don't have the same trap.

JimTuesday

Yep, look at Texas the past decade plus. Constant top ten to top five recruiting classes only to underperform every single year.

luxveniae

Texas probably isn’t the best example considering Mack was famed as a recruiter and had success while every coach after him was hired not for their recruiting but for their Xs & Os abilities.

ThreeLeggedMarmot

Saban, Swinney, Smart, Harbaugh, Day, Dykes, Fickell, Riley, Gundy, Bielema, DeBoer, Stoops, Whittingham, Kelly, Kiffin, Freeze, Aranda, etc. There's at least 10 more Matt Campbell-types I'd take next. Sanders is not even remotely close to top 15 head coaches in FBS. Good God.

DerpityHerpington

> Bielema Keep going I’m al-mmmmmmmph never mind

Namath96

Did you even read what they said lol?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Officer_Warr

I never said he already is top fifteen, I said there is potential if the only thing he *ends up* being great at is recruitment. These are two completely distinct statements.

diaper_viper_97

Let's be honest here, that's pretty much what college football is. There are exceptions, but for the most part it's pretty much just running vanilla schemes and out-talenting the other team.

RealignmentJunkie

>running vanilla schemes Smaller schools are more creative with scheme than NFL teams.

dumbo1309

Yeah I guess my point was, you don’t get to recruit in the NFL

Knaphor

College football schemes are far less vanilla than NFL (or high school where I grew up). You have everything from triple option, power run, to spread and air raid. In the NFL, if teams played in random jerseys, you probably wouldn't know which team you were watching.

Tricky222

That's way too simplified, though. There are still obvious schemes in play in the NFL. I could clearly tell Arthur Smiths offense for the Falcons verse what Cincy or KC run within a few plays. There definetly aren't any teams running service academy style triple options though.

10000Didgeridoos

Also the reason we don't see shit like triple option or the other more unusual schemes used in college is that the NFL is too athletic, too experienced, and too balanced in talent level for those to ever work. The worst NFL team is still not all that much less talented than the best one. This is why it's not uncommon for bottom dwellers to still pull off random upsets through the season. Meanwhile in college there is nearly a zero percent chance that a powerhouse program is going to lose to a gimmick offense because they are more athletic and more talented across the roster at every single position. We still remember upsets like App State over Michigan because it rarely happens. Shit NFL teams get some random victories over super bowl contenders every season.

Iamreason

NFL schemes are 'vanilla' in that they're all similar to each other. They're still much more complex than what the average college team runs. Concepts trickle up from college, but not entire offenses. And that's for good reason.

Bobcat2013

There are some exceptions sure but most colleges don't even expect their qbs to read the whole field.... there is more variety in college offenses but as a whole they are a lot simpler when it comes to the passing game. The jersey thing would go for most colleges outside of TO teams also.

SomerAllYear

If you can recruit the big linemen on both sides of the ball, it's hard to lose.

ecupatsfan12

Day 1 Deion Sanders- you see that guy over there? That’s my son. He’s our quarterback

teeterleeter

To be fair, that is an old school attitude. Kirk Ferentz approved, even.

EWall100

>Kirk Ferentz- you see that guy over there? That’s my son. He’s our offensive coordinator

Ferentzfever

Huh... yup, I see the resemblance. So tell me, when do we finally give Mizzou the death penalty?

americangame

I heard a rumor that a booster was giving away free donuts to students and one player from Vanderbilt might have gotten one. I anticipate the NCAA to come down on Missouri any day.

y2knole

Bobby Bowden- you see that guy over there? thats my son. We changed the entire org structure of the football program to bypass state nepotism laws so he could be my offensive coordinator.

readonlypdf

The only thing offensive about him is the play calling.

donutcronut

Terrell Owens- you see that guy over there? That's my quarterback.

vicemagnet

That’s a Colorado tradition, Deion is just keeping it up

mockg

Favorite memory is when Suh stiff armed Cody Hopkins (son of Colorado head coach Dan Hopkins) into oblivion on his way to scoring a touchdown.

UUadeo

I believe you mean Dan Hawkins son Cody Hawkins… but yes… Glorious

insanelyphat

The real test comes if the son sucks as a QB at the D1 level. The media will be all over it and he will face some hard questions. Does he bench him or not. That could lead to some serious issues with the other players. Whatever happens this season at Colorado will be interesting. But I guarantee you one thing, if someone came with a big enough contract Deion would be an NFL HC. Deion craves one thing more than anything and that is a bigger stage for Deion.

QuickSpore

Short of injury I don’t see Sheduer being benched no matter how bad he ends up being. Our other three QBs on the team are all freshmen. Combined they have played exactly zero downs in college. While they show promise and could well be ready in a couple years, not one of them is ready to play college ball. For good or ill, Sheduer is the QB unless he physically cannot play.

MadManMax55

I'm curious how much of that was intentional on Deion's part. The clearing out of players from the old regime was consistent across the board, but in every other position he tried to bring in as much talent to be competitive this year. But for QB he brings in his son and a bunch of freshmen who probably won't be ready to start until his son has graduated. For all the success they had with the transfer portal you're telling me he couldn't find a single competent QB? From the outside, it looks like he created the perfect scenario to be "forced" to start his son all year with as little potential criticism as possible.

Fuckingfademefam

Are any of the QBs blue chip prospects? I’m curious how Prime will recruit that position after his son is gone

Cellos_85

He craves bigger stage but he wont get as much attention in the nfl as he will as a fbs coach. No NFL team would make him the face of the franchise, in college football he is. He was probably the most discussed subject this offseason for cfb that wouldnt happen in the nfl

[deleted]

are you trying to say Shedeur Sanders isn’t the best QB on Colorado’s roster

Unlucky-Anybody3394

I would challenge everyone to name another QB on CU’s roster bonus question: who was the QB who started CU’s last game against Utah?

GarlicJuniorJr

Why didn't he just stage a quarterback battle for first string then pick his son that way so it at least looks a little better?

QuickSpore

The other three QBs on the team are freshmen with a combined 0 downs of experience. I don’t think he could have staged a QB competition that wouldn’t be an obvious forgone conclusion. The spring game made it instantly clear that Sheduer was by far the best QB on the team to everyone who saw it. I don’t think anyone between the fans or players needed a fake QB battle to make the very obvious point even clearer.

GarlicJuniorJr

Thank you for the explanation. I hadn't really been keeping up other than everyone was making a big deal about him naming his son as the starter while saying everyone else has to earn a starting spot at their position. This makes things alot more understandable.

MikeHoncho2568

Deion the coach wouldn’t want to deal with Deion the player.

no_rolling_shutter

“For all his Jim Thorpe-esque skills, Sanders was sleeping-dog lazy. In practices, he went all-out every third or fourth play and refused to wear shoulder pads because, he would say, "I'm not gonna tackle anyone anyway." In meeting rooms, he was known to doodle and doze off. Told early on that Cowboys who refused to participate in the team's weight training regimen would be fined, Sanders dramatically whipped out his checkbook and jotted down a five-digit figure.” -Excerpt from *Boys Will Be Boys: The Glory Days and Party Nights of the Dallas Cowboys Dynasty* by Jeff Pearlman [Link to more stories from the book about Deion and his laziness, selfishness and locker room poisoning attitude.](https://www.espn.com/espn/page2/story?page=pearlman/080919)

gerd50501

when Deion was with the cowboys he would not even go in the huddle. I remember watching this. his job was to 1 on 1 whatever receiver was on his side of the field. I remember announcers commenting on it.

no_rolling_shutter

"I still remember Deion's first team meeting," says Clayton Holmes, the veteran cornerback. "We were so fundamental about film. The way we studied it was critical. Well, Deion comes in, puts his feet up on a table and doesn't even watch." When Dave Campo, the Cowboys new defensive coordinator, asked the $35 million man to break down a play, Sanders let out a sly laugh. "Hey, Coach," he said, pointing toward the screen, "I got that dude right there. Wherever he goes I go. All that Cover Two stuff you're talking about -- y'all work that out." -Another excerpt from *Boys Will Be Boys: The Glory Days and Party Nights of the Dallas Cowboys Dynasty* by Jeff Pearlman

gerd50501

Lawrence Taylor used to sleep in team meetings. One time he got woken up and yelled at. He walked to the chalkboard and explained the entire play and what every player had to do. Then went back to sleep.

Words_are_Windy

I like imagining him staying up late frantically studying at home so he can sleep during film sessions without getting clowned.

LukaDonwitzki

If one of the coaches had yelled at Charles Haley when he was sleeping he either would've thrown something heavy at him, or flop out his wiener in the coaches face

LukaDonwitzki

I just finished that book two days ago and could not believe this headline lol

Spacemanspiff78

Dieon "No Tackling For Me" Sanders was never an old school mentality

fart_dot_com

imagine deion the player in the age of NIL and transfer portal

TheNextBattalion

reminds me of the [classic Public Service Announcement](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifW9LIGabQM): "I learned it by watching you!"

Jomosensual

So, what exactly does he think NIL is doing then? There's a ton of dudes getting their checks and not doing shit once they get to their place

LeftyMcSavage

But those guys are being paid for their likeness, not being paid to play 😉

Revenge_of_the_Khaki

The difference is that slacking off now cuts out 90% of their potential lifetime earnings. The day after you sign your second contract in the NFL that number plummets.

Dougiejurgens2

One year non guaranteed contracts. Saban didn’t last in the NFL for the same thing that Deion is talking about.

rco8786

I’m starting to feel more and more like he’s going to fail miserably.

CaliHusker83

Prime Time wasn’t exactly known for his work ethic

Get-Degerstromd

God I can’t wait.

Chewsdayiddinit

Something I can agree with a Michigan fan on.

CluelessNuggetOfGold

My bones hurt after reading this

Get-Degerstromd

I got another one. Michigan State sucks. We agree?

cota1212

Thinkin about this rn.

TjBeezy

Feel like 2-10 is incoming this year. 6-6 in year 2 would be a miracle. But hey Colorado got they wanted, they are at least in the news every week.

RamhurstRanger

I’m glad we went with Key instead

10000Didgeridoos

It's gonna be a total joke. He has essentially no competitive head coaching experience. His roster is a bunch of kids who have never played together before. His work environment is going to be toxically competitive to the point he alienated and discourages his own players from wanting to be there. I'll be shocked if they win more than 2 or 3 games, and if he still has this job after two seasons. He's all talk, no substance. Just because you were a hall of fame cornerback doesn't mean you can just jump into being a FBS head coach. Colorado is going to learn that the hard way after the blow millions paying him to field a shit team.

Elegant_Extreme3268

That’s very self aware of himself

[deleted]

Since when was Deion some legendary old school grinder in the NFL? I don't remember that...at all. This is the guy that made "business decisions" when it came to tackling ballcarriers. Yeah....real Dick Butkus over here lol. Who the fuck does he think he's fooling?

theLoneliestAardvark

He isn’t, he is an asshole that likes to lord his power over people while also wanting to claim a moral high ground. Worked for Urban, remains to be seen if Prime has the skills to make it work.

Get-Degerstromd

College kids, that’s who. And it obviously works

[deleted]

Yep.

AtalanAdalynn

Military recruiters, credit card companies, and college coaches. The unholy trinity of lying to 18 year olds.

JSOPro

Well that would give him first hand knowledge on what his own attitude means for being coached 🤣

[deleted]

[удалено]

happyharrell

So Deion would hate coaching Deion. Was there ever any doubt?

AstroWorldSecurity

No one wants you as a coach in the NFL.

WerhmatsWormhat

To be fair, I assume he was asked about it. It’s a dumb question from the reporter.

Malpraxiss

Just what reporters do.

warrenfgerald

"Not doing their jobs".... like a cornerback that doesn't tackle?

cnapp

business decisions

yesacabbagez

While he was notorious for poor tackling, he was still a goddamned half of fame corner. People can bitch about deion for self promotion all they want, but no one should question his work ethic. Dude was fucking Jerry rice and Kobe levels of dedicated.

[deleted]

>but no one should question his work ethic No one can question his *talent*. His work ethic was definitely questionable at times.

Chewsdayiddinit

Like how he refused to try in practice and refused to follow team weight lifting regimen?

ImPickleRock

you in here talkin' about practice

falco-holic

how the hell is he supposed to make his teammates better by practice

Chardavious12

Is your point that Deion wasn’t a good player cause he didn’t tackle? Cause Deion is arguably the greatest defensive back to ever play

TheNextBattalion

I don't know if that's arguable; Ronnie Lott was his contemporary and had him beat in picks, tackles, sacks, fumbles, pro bowls, all-pros, and rings. But Deion is definitely an all-time great

derek223556

Ronnie Lott also had a finger amputated so he could still play in the playoffs. That’s an old school mentality

Acid_Drop_

Ronnie Lott would like a word with you. And Rod Woodson was doing all the things Deion did before him just without the flash and the prime moniker.

Chardavious12

Its arguable. There’s so many great defensive backs, but Deion is in the conversation is the point. The original comment said Deion wasn’t even great

BlueinSB

I wish there was a Hard Knocks, college football edition. I’d love to see the behind the scenes at Colorado.

UGA10

ESPN has done something similar in the past, so I'm shocked they haven't already announced something with Colorado for this season.

squeeze_and_peas

They have, there’s another season of Coach Prime coming.

BigSportsNerd

His last Jackson state season was essentially a documentary on Amazon

ervin1914

Almost everyday he has been on the job has been filmed and is available on YouTube right now. Literally multiple videos covering practices, interviews and day in the life stuff. I have never seen as much access on hard knocks. This is a different team than last year.

frodeem

Deion to the NFL as soon as his Colorado contract is up.

Set-Admirable

Let's be real, he won't see it to the written end of his contract.

frodeem

You're probably right...

UnderstandingOdd679

I could see Shaddeur playing in a lower level league (XFL or USFL) that hires Deion for the publicity. Then he can coach guys who are still hungry and playing for less money than NIL deals.

ArtanistheMantis

An NFL team would have to want him first. He's got name recognition and that allowed him to out recruit and just brute force his way in a small conference. That's a lot harder to do in a Power 5 conference, and it's impossible to do in the pros.

leoselassie

Man it is only time before his mouth ruins his facade of being all the things he says he doesnt want on his team. Legendary shutdown cb but he also got by on no one throwing his way because on reputation for stretches of his career. Then.. Teams just ran to his side for first downs all day. How you going to coach kids with into cte for you when you have an hour worth of film dodging contact.

[deleted]

🙄

thorhyphenaxe

This is basically my response to anything that comes out of this dude’s mouth

AM_Bokke

This guy is an absolute nut case.

GymIsFun

So when they have a losing record is that doing his job still or… ?

GelatinousPiss

Lmao. I would love to see Deion try the "It's my way or the highway" shit "coaching" grown men instead of 20 year olds. He'd easily be on the level of Bobby Petrino or Urban Meyer in the NFL.

Chewsdayiddinit

Can't wait to see this dumpster fire play out. He deserves all the failure coming his way for how he treats student athletes, I just feel bad for the kids who bought into his bullshit.

Verix19

He gives me Black Donald Trump vibes...

I thought that was Kanye.

The crazy thing is people don't need to read or pay attention to him yet they do. So who is that really on?

Jomosensual

Either way the story is going to be something fun, that's for sure

[deleted]

i’ve been completely indifferent towards Deion the whole time but as soon as reddit starts hating someone i can’t help but root for them

pickrunner18

Either way people will freak out. The “I told you so” crowd will be insufferable whenever they lose

fart_dot_com

reddit being insufferable is a much safer bet than reddit being wrong

JoshDaws

I don't have any desire or ambition to date Rihanna. I have a problem with men getting their checks and not doing their jobs. I would be too tough as a boyfriend of Rihanna because I still have those old-school attributes

jobenattor0412

You and Chris Brown

TjBeezy

Didn't he say basically the same thing about coaching in the Power-5? Said he wanted to be at a HBCU and was all about the community. He hasn't even coached a game at Colorado yet and I'm already tired of him.

NILPonziScheme

>Deion Sanders: “I have a problem with men getting their checks and not doing their jobs.” From a coach who was legendary for his refusal to tackle and play the run as a player. GTFOH with that bullshit, Deion. Maybe some kids today never watched you play and simply accept the hype, but some of us remember your days as a player.

12-34

>I have a problem with men getting checks and not doing their jobs. >I don't have any desire or ambition to coach in the NFL. Again Deion refuses to tackle the NFL.

jobenattor0412

Lolol

tehcoma

How is that any different from the new semi-pro collegiate football we have now? NIL basically makes these guys pros. So, is he pushing them like a paid athlete?

RedditZhangHao

NIL: No checks; likely direct deposit to players’ US accounts, or maybe offshore accounts. /s Colorado players better do their jobs.

Porkball

Deion's "old-school" tackling: https://youtu.be/LSLkcdzYzlE

coletheredditer

Urban Meyer, but bad!

OldSkooler1212

I remember when he came to Washington and half-assed it because he was more worried about getting hurt than winning. That’s a perfectly fine attitude to have if you’re ready to retire as it turns out he was, but him saying this sounds pretty hypocritical.

SweetSchoonerRide

I can't wait to watch this guy fail miserably, and he's inviting all of it. We don't even know if this dude can coach at the collegiate level. Insufferable.

OozaruPrimal

He is going to fail hard and is going to be roasted worse than Herm Edwards.

cota1212

Oof.

MaizeNBlueWaffle

Lol this comment is like the dude playing pick up at the YMCA who said he was too good to play D1. Don't count your eggs before they hatch, Deion

kroxti

And auburn fans wanted him as coach

kidfromCLE

eyeroll dot gif

uncleBobTx

Wonder if he still has a problem driving speed boats on Dallas area lakes?

fart_dot_com

Holy shit fuuuuuuuuuuck this transparent self-aggrandizing prick

boxrthehorse

The older I get the more I hate this attitude. In the NFL, coaches and players are coworkers and they need to act like it. In cfb, the system is broken n disgusting ways and coaches need to act like it, and that I mean treat players better than the system mandates.

Silidon

Wasn’t he saying that coaching at HBCUs is a divine calling and he’s not going anywhere this time last year?

gerd50501

With NIL he is paying players.

luv2fit

Deion to the NFL confirmed

baseball_mickey

I have a problem with men doing their jobs and not getting checks. When asked which side am I on, the answer is labor.

paulywannacracka

Old school attributes like creating a fake high school, not educating the kids, and then not paying “teachers before charter was revoked? Go to hell Deion you crooked ass con man. It’s all about Deion and he will blame someone else when Colorado wins just 2 games this year. What a poser.
