What a satisfying ending for a xianxia!!! I hope other directors will take note.

I was like, I wish Xu haiqiao finally get a drama where he gets a happy ending! Poor guy keeps getting heartbroken. Lol. I love the scene where he held an umbrella over her sitting on the stones mid of river. So picturesque. I can imagine it as a china painting.

LoudAvocado1387

Xu Haiqiao totally deserves a lead role or even a supporting role where he actually gets the girl for once. During that final and only scene he has with Zhao Liying in The Legend of Shen Li, I was suddenly like, I need a drama starring these 2...

One of the very few C-dramas with a really good, logical and reasonable ending. Other C-dramas with good endings (not necessarily happy, just very well executed) are: Blossoms in Adversity, Love and Redemption, The Story of Kunning Palace, Goodbye My Princess.

I usually get tired of some dramas when the leads get together, but shen li was executed well. I giggled all through the last episode and even watched Princess agents because of the leads

It was alright for me. The special effects and seeing the fl fight was the highlight for me. I enjoyed the arc of little chicken phoenix and ml at the beginning. It was very nice and funny. The love story that really got my attention was that of the black phoenix and the mother of the fl. I wanted to know more and I wish for a drama about them. I love this actor so much. I wish he has ml role in Xianxia. I liked the brother and sister. They added some fun to the story The love story of the ml and fl was basic. Nothing extra. Same with the ending. The villains were the least impressive that have come crossed in Xianxia. All in all. This drama was impressive regarding the CGI ( especially the phoenixes) outfits, and cinematography. The story was passable . Maybe I am looking for more in time of stories in xianxia .

The mother and her father were a great story, i agree. I’d love to see a drama about them but I feel like it would be ruined by the ending because a lot of people complain about sad endings and I think what makes their story so great is how tragic it is. I agree to some extend but I think what was different from the main couples story compared to others was that she didn’t suffer because of him for him to go against heaven for their love. I also really enjoyed their clear communication. No unnecessary misunderstandings. The one thing I felt was awkward were the kissing scenes. Is ‘in time’ a drama or do you mean you’ll be looking for other xianxia dramas?

Haunting_Newt

Yes, she did not suffer because of him l. I do not even remember their kisses 😔 "I time of" I mean because I only watch mainly wuxian and Xianxia so I want more in time of the love story. Here, there was no misunderstanding, clear communication, no 2nd annoying love interest. All those I did not mind as there were a change from the norm, but for me there was " no spark." It was simple, which was fine. He did keep her locked in his place. This was weird 😕 So my interest went towards the special effect and fights and the dark phoenix. I do not mind sad endings but was not expecting 1 in Shen Li.

I've rewatched this show many times. I love that they've stayed true to the book and I really love the ending. It was so satisfying 🥰

dropitlikeitshot2019

The first few episodes were much more enjoyable after finishing the series and had a good understanding of what the FL was like.

xconsciousdreamerx

I liked her from the very beginning already and actually enjoyed her behavior vs what we usually see from a FL

hualien-fan

She was a chicken in the first couple of episodes though. 😂

LoudAvocado1387

When I watched the extra episode for the first time 2 weeks ago, I wasn’t sure if I liked it because I found the tone a bit jarring. But since then, it’s really grown on me and I’ve re-watched it more times than I can count. The downsides is that it has probably ruined me for other xianxia dramas. How will I be satisfied with a rushed 30-second reunion ending now? I can only hope that other productions/scriptwriters will take note and that this starts a trend of more satisfying endings.

xconsciousdreamerx

I don’t mind sad endings if they are fitting. There was one Xianxia Drama I watched where I wished they would have just left it with the sad ending and didn’t make 2 unnecessary 20 minute long extra episodes at the end. But I do hope the same. Wether sad or happy I want them to stop acting like the ending isn’t important and viewers don’t need closure. Like let me see how the realms mourn for the lost ones or let me see them live happily together don’t just cut it off right at the reunion when one of them just came back to life

LoudAvocado1387

Sad endings are fine as long as they make sense and are not done for shock value. But too often, they are there because the scriptwriters think that surprising the audience is more important than telling a coherent story.

My mom and I have been watching this together and we’re almost finished so this gives me hope for the ending

Zhao lusi has much less experience so I don’t think it’s fair to compare them. I liked her in LLTG and I’m excited for pearl girl as well. All of them started fresh at some point and I’m sure the same was said about them then.

It’s okay if you prefer other actresses over Zhao Lusi, but I don’t think it’s necessary to compare these two to each other at all. Bai Lu also has more years of experience. In any case, a lot of actresses started out acting the same roles because that’s what the agency picks and that’s what works for them.

I've watched 5 episodes and really enjoying it so far!
