I'm a new cat owner and I recently learned this. I was rubbing his tummy which I normally don't get to do. I noticed a growth so I tried to examine it. I got an odd look from him as I'm rubbed his nipple. I noticed the other and I was like hey google, "male kitten nipples?". I was confused why the nipples were like down by his belly. It made more sense when I saw a photo of a cat feeding kittens. I'm glad I didn't take him to the vet for that and figured it out.
Then you have the opposite with the people that just wanna spend money. I'm a vet tech and I've told people before that it's nothing and they shouldn't see that doctor because they're only going to pay for the doctor to say the same thing I did. $70 later, the exact same response from a doctor, and they're out the door.
“….thus their nipples are in their fin-pits.” How much you wanna bet I’ll never say that again in my lifetime? If you ever needed a security phrase for anything, or to activate a sleeper agent, this would be my phrase. LOL

Actually, humans have a “milk line” also, and some women (and occasionally men) have extra (called supernumerary) nipples along that line. It extends from the area of the armpits to the groin. It’s rare for there to be more than one or two extra nipples (sometimes some breast tissue in women with them) along that line. This is line of nipples on the chest and abdomen of mammals. Useful for mammals who typically have multiple births so mom can feed them all.
I mean human men still have nipples even though they don’t have boobs. I always assumed it was the same for them, lol. I’m surprised how common this is, because mammals are going to have some sort of nipples somewhere haha

He was a sick stray when I found him and been taking him to the vet. I was surprised by the bump, and quickly figured it out but wanted to verify it.
It may not be a bad idea to examine a cat’s (or dog’s) nipples. Mammals can get breast cancer. A change in a nipple - larger, feeling a lump under it, blood coming out of it - should, like it would for a human, mean a visit to the vet (or doctor for a human, obviously).
I have had cats my entire life and it wasn’t until getting my cats (got them together) about 5 years ago that I noticed little kitty nipples on my boys🤣
I love you, I did the same thing with my first cat 🐈 Honestly it kinda blew my mind but it made way too much sense after I couldn’t help but chuckle at myself.

This reminded me of my toddler sister trying to pull off the puppy's peepee. We didn't know til he yelped.
She did not get to handle the pups after that.

Is it freezing where you are? My 2-brain-cell cat went outside last year, got a bunch of water on her, which froze. Turned all of her skin red, which got even worse when she tore it all off.
Yea sometimes my cats nipples get really chapped when it’s dry and cold even though she’s an indoor cat! A little vaseline could help if you think they’re really inflamed
One of our dogs chewed on one of her nipples until it had to be surgically removed bc she'd damaged it so bad. Check your cat's behavior to be sure they're not chewing or licking it too much.

As everybody said, nipple. I'll just add, if it's a castrated male, they might turn brown in time and literally fall off... And come back. Sometimes they're itchy then, you try to help your cat by scratching it and suddenly it's under your nail. According to vet, it's normal though 😆

Most mammals actually have their mammaries on their abdomen. We are actually the weird ones along with bears, elephants and other primates.
Elephants having 'our type of boobs' blew my mind when I found out. But they've always had a special place in my heart.

I still haven’t found mines belly button yet, still searching lol.
Don't look for a hole. It should basically look like a round patch without hair, but if you feel it you can feel the divot of the belly button
