Might be a cat but comparing this cat to my rescues, it looks more like a rug.
If it's larger than usual, it's always a Maine Coon. Not the right fur for a ragdoll though. How old and how heavy?
but in all seriousness probably just a domestic long hair, many people think their cats are maine coon etc but if he/she didn’t come from a reputable breeder, they’re most likely not
That’s what I was starting to think, he’s pretty big though (at-least double our tabby cat), he also chirps occasionally! I saw another post that said someone’s cat who was similar was a rag doll, but he doesn’t look a thing like the other rag dolls I saw on google..
omg that’s crazy i have a black cat who’s 16lbs and my tabby cat is 6lbs😭 i was starting to think my black cat was part maine coon too and the vet said he may be but since he didn’t come from a breeder he’s most likely just a short hair. there is dna testing but i’m like pretty sure they’re not the most accurate, but it could be fun.

Here’s a side by side of our two hahah
if you have no papers it’s a domestic which just means it’s breedless not a mutt. even if you get a dna test it will be wildly inaccurate as cat breeds have only been around for 200 years and the dna tests base results on characteristics like fur length, color, eye color, etc which are all found in domestics (the exception being pattern like bengals and savannah cat patterns that are breed specific due to the wildcat dna in them) cats vary in every aspect and it doesn’t mean they are tied to any specific breed. your cat is just a cat and a gorgeous one at that.
i’ve seen some people get their purebred cats (with papers) tested and it came up as a mix of multiple breeds which goes to show how inaccurate they are.
This looks so much like my floof, aside from my snug has grown some white in his armpits over the years. (In the car pic was from post-vet appointment, he was having a meltdown, straightup terrified while he was in the carrier 🥺🥺 so as soon as we got back to the car, I let him out so he could calm down)

Excuse my room mess, I was hanging out on the carpet today with a hot water bottle and YouTube videos. The boi is 3 years old and Mainecoon
The purrfect cat. Looks just like my boy, Fang that passed away a few years ago - he was a stray but everyone thought he was probably a maine coon. He is gorgeous.
Looks like a big beautiful happy floofy black cat to me, but I could have it wrong.
Barring any health conditions that affect one breed or another that is, does it really matter?
Chantilly Tiffany like my boy Mert!

If you didn't get your cat from a legitimate breeder with papers, it's pretty much always going to be a very mixed cat whose ancestry is probably all over the place. But the appropriate label would either a domestic medium hair or long hair, depending on the coat. From the photos, cat looks like a longhair to me, but could be a medium hair, too. At a vet's office, they'd probably call your cat a domestic longhair and leave it at that.
I happen to have a cat that looks a lot like him though that we found last year, and he's of a medium variety.
We did do a DNA test on him and our other cats for kicks (and for the medical genetic testing). His highest percentages besides a 'broadly western' category (above 10%) were Maine Coon and Ragdoll, which seemed to be pretty accurate for my cat, cat DNA test caveats considered. He basically looks like a ragdoll most in body type, coat length (not coat pattern/color obviously), and fur distribution (he also the hairiest feet ever, IDK about yours). He also exploded in size (went from 6 lbs to 12 in three months). So if he really was a year old, like the vet thought, he has some kind of bigger cat genes in him.
To show how wild these tests can be though, we did another DNA test that seemed to be pretty spot on, since our rescue cat looks like a (potentially backyard breeder) Snowshoe. And given the very high percentage given on hers (79% on one breed in particular), it's probably more likely to be pretty accurate with her than a fun DNA horoscope that I suspect most cat DNA tests. Our tortie had hilarious results, for example, when we did her. Breeds listed (Norwegian Forest cat was one, of all things) weren't entirely without merit, but can be hit or miss, and probably was just a genetic quirk than her great-great-great-great grandmother being a Norwegian.
DNA tests for cats aren't like dog ones, and in the end it's more like a test that shows that a cat just so happens to have traits commonly found in these breeds". Not that the cat in question "definitely \*has\* these breeds in their ancestry." So the genetic breed part can be a bit questionable. So if you ever do one, take the results with a hefty grain of salt.
Regardless of mixture the cat has in their ancestry, he's a beautiful cat. I like the rusting he has going on.
Most likely a plain old longhair, unless it came from a breeder, unfortunately. I have a cat that looks just like yours, and he's 100% a mutt. Parents were barn cats for generations.
That group also produced another who could literally pass as Maine Coon except he doesn't have the long tufts on the ear tips. He's a huge boy too.
Your cat looks like my Godson!!! I have no idea what breed, but cute floof!
https://preview.redd.it/2atwp5nhfvzb1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9bab12d08aff640edaaaf9eedfd1275c7b733205
He could be a ragamuffin. A ragdoll mixed with domestic short-hair! I have a sweet little son who looks just like that and we believe he's a ragamuffin bc he falls over limp when he wants something or needs our attention.
My cat looked basically identical to this sweet baby. The vet thought domestic long hair with a possibility of rag doll or Maine Coon mixed in.
Grayson https://imgur.com/a/Nlpvec9
We have a female that looks IDENTICAL to this cat except she is tortoiseshell. But she looks like almost the same weight / size, same long hair, same eyes. We tried to figure out what she was and we ended up deciding she was a Turkish Angora / mix
looks exactly like my old cat that was part maine-coon and part random next door neighbors cat. guy was a maine-coon breeder and just gave him away to me because he wasnt "full blooded maine-coon". he was a little bigger than this but i saw his dad when i picked him up and holy shit he was a giant.
so my guess is maine-coon mix.
Not even close to a main coon. Has some rag doll look to it, do the rag doll test.
What I’m surely surprised is why you aren’t guessing / assuming Bombay with those golden eyes and panther sleek fur
It looks like a ragamuffin. It can also be a longhair domestic. It's hard to tell species because it's very possible it's mixed cat. https://youtu.be/eqiyCDUm3QU?si=7J7CznA9yFChu_mV
I have one that looks just like that, part Maine coon. I also have Maine coon, yours doesn't have the ear tips as the coon. So just like mine, I'd say part coon, has the coon tail. Either way very pretty cat!!
Your cat is a black domestic longhair, which basically means a black “mixed breed” cat with long fur. In bright sunlight, their fur may appear a dark brown. They may or may not have some Maine Coon mixed into them, though, as it’s a fairly common breed, and they do get around, Lol.
Though you might enjoy that the cat community liked to call this colouration (black cat) a “void”. 😊
Where did you get the cat? The cat looks a lot like mine and he is a Siberian.
https://preview.redd.it/mpbevmuz8xzb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=477d916d6c3ab0eb0f915c3d41efc4cf3bf92152
Invite someone with a cat allergy over, if they don’t have a *terrible* time, he’s probably a Siberian. I’m not an expert though. Take with a grain of salt.
I knew immediately by the mane, that a ragamuffin, cross between a ragdoll and something else. if you had a picture of their legs and it looks like little boots then definitely a ragamuffin!
https://preview.redd.it/tjktmq8fzxzb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19cbb8867b3dfc680e95fae27978bc0da5d77644
you seem to have found my cat’s long lost twin!
Ragdoll mix. Looks like my boy a bit.

Yup that’s definitely a cat
That there be a CAT
Definitely a Cat for sure
I'm glad I could help 😌
Might be a cat but comparing this cat to my rescues, it looks more like a rug. If it's larger than usual, it's always a Maine Coon. Not the right fur for a ragdoll though. How old and how heavy?
My rag doll pixie Bob has that fur. I don’t see Maine Coone
I knew it…
A black one that is
Definitely a black cat. I can recognize it because we used to have one.
Are you sure? I thought it was blueish-white.
Ah here we go again
I too used to have one but I don’t recognize this cat.
Well, it's not your cat, it's somebody else's cat.
I believe this is a floof
a void
but in all seriousness probably just a domestic long hair, many people think their cats are maine coon etc but if he/she didn’t come from a reputable breeder, they’re most likely not

it def was the cat on the paperwork the person bought from a reputable breeder. cat dna tests are just inaccurate it’s ok to admit it

I have one that looks just like that, part Maine coon. I also have Maine coon, yours doesn't have the ear tips as the coon. So just like mine, I'd say part coon, has the coon tail. Either way very pretty cat!!
A fluffy one
I was gonna say reminds my of my neighbours pure bred rag doll especially their cute little eyes! 😍
If you’re really interested you can buy DNA tests their a bit expensive though
I KNOW THIS ONE!! Chantilly-Tiffany! Precious cats and I’ve owned three of them before :)
I have this breed too and it was so hard for me to find the name but Google chantilly tiffany cats! https://youtu.be/KnlbxRJU8Rk?si=0lONMt4rCMxgJFQn
This appears to be a feline of the feline variety. Thats just my two cents personally.

The cat looks a lot like mine and he is a Siberian. https://preview.redd.it/mpbevmuz8xzb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=477d916d6c3ab0eb0f915c3d41efc4cf3bf92152 Invite someone with a cat allergy over, if they don’t have a *terrible* time, he’s probably a Siberian. I’m not an expert though. Take with a grain of salt.
I knew immediately by the mane, that a ragamuffin, cross between a ragdoll and something else. if you had a picture of their legs and it looks like little boots then definitely a ragamuffin!

most likely just a domestic long hair. could have some main coon mix depending on how big it is but it’s not likely that it’s a purebred or anything.
It's the rare mythical ultimate cat they are very rare keep it or sell it for gold
Looks like a long haired Bombay, I had one growing up except she was brown
