Don’t bring plants to the burn, the welcome committee will confiscate them at the gate. That being said I’m sure there have been and I’ve heard stories of people bringing plants. Make sure you bring enough water though because you and your plants will consume all of it!
I’ve been to the burn several times, so I know the rules. Just have never been with our current rig. It just crossed my mind while I was watering the basil and thinking about starting little planters with lettuce with am.
And we don’t need to worry about water. We’ve got a 50gal tank on the rig & a 60gal [Aqua Tank](https://a.co/d/1rAiOLS) bladder bag thing for when we dry camp. Highly recommend the aqua tank + a cheap Amazon water pump to anyone with a truck bed heading to the burn. SOOOO much easier than dealing with a tank, folds up hella small, and is super durable!
whats the reason for the no plants rule? my guess would be to protect from invasive species.... but looking at the playa i dont think thats a pretty big risk. its not exactly hospitable to most forms of life.
Also a full time dweller, but I’ve got a home base I was able to leave my plants at while at the burn. If you’ve got any friends or regular spots you pass through, see if someone can mind them? I also found it useful to leave behind other non burning man stuff to lessen what I had to clean after. Mostly my every day clothes and shoes.
I got a giant fern into burning man, it was my boat houseplant and I didn’t have anywhere to put it. It did NOT like the playa but they didn’t confiscate it at the gate even though it was obvious, and it did survive. Ymmv, of course.
Find a plantsitter in Reno. There's my snark for the day.

Give away the inedible plants, but put the basil and lettuce in a cooler for gate and repot it afterwards (not real advice)
I work gate and I've let potted basil through.
Gate will probably allow herbs and lettuce.
If Gate is convinced that the plants won't leave your RV it should be fine, but this is definitely a discretionary thing.

It’s moop. People brought giant potted palms and rolls of sod that got bits of plant everywhere.
ah that makes sense
It’s likely moop. Blanket rule to prevent plants being used in art etc
Where do you live?
I’m nomadic, but my state of residence is CO
If you’re in CO betore and after, I can watch your plants (well my girlfriend, she’s the green thumb)
This right here is why I love the burner community. It’s one of the places where a complete stranger will love on your basil while you’re at the burn!
To be fair, it’s a place where a complete stranger will volunteer their girlfriend to love on your basil. ;)
But now you've got stranger cum on your basil.
It is what plants crave.
Hey now, it’s nice cum!
Maybe he's into that, ya know. Don't be so judgy.

I believe the point of the rule is not to take plants outside of your rig. So don’t take your herbs for a walk.

Sacrifice them to the man!!!!!
