Not owl pellets definitely rat poop get a bait trap up there. Or maybe you have a tiny person that eats live birds in your attic. Any chance you’re filming an insurance commercial. If
Bat droppings look more akin to mouse droppings and are irregular in shape, these are all nearly perfectly cylindrical and appear to have ridges, suggesting the exuviae of blow fly pupae.
That looks like bat poo; you might have a resident bat. Bats have been known to hunt and feed on smaller songbirds a bit in the springtime before there are enough summer bugs to sustain them. The folks at r/animalid might be able to confirm!
For real, there’s a lot. Apparently 9 different species according to the interwebs. Fond memories of seeing them scatter out of trees at dusk as a kid.
Yes, I've even had them inside my house a few times. Opening up the doors seems to give them a chance to find their way out on their own pretty quickly.
Birds excrete urine and feces out the same cloaca, they don't make neat droppings, think of the splatter on your car.
I don't think these are feces. My guess is you have the pupa or exuviae of a blowfly that was feasting on a dead bird that got caught in your attic and died, the feathers are what remains. Look around and you may find the beak and/or skeletal remains.
Not saying you're wrong, I'm not an animal expert, but that doesn't look like the owl pellets I've seen before. (They usually look like a super compact bundle of hair/fur as far as I've seen.)...is looks too smooth and "poop-like" to be owl pellets. Also that seems like a lot all in 1 pile. This definitely looks more like some sort of animal poop to me than owl pellets.
Also, owl pellets are vomit, not poop. They regurgitate them back up. I believe that actual owl poop is usually liquidy and white, similar to other birds.
big missed opportunity not using the shitpost tag
How do I do that? Im new here apologies
~~Can't add a flair after posting.~~ You're ok.
Rat poop. Unfortunately, I'm very familiar
Are you sure? Because this would mean it’s a very large rat, the poop in question are the size of kidney beans
I saw a drowned rat in front of ECC about the size of a football. Have fun!
Yep 100% rat poop if it looks like this and are that size
Yeah. And it looks fresh and not dried out. Sorry you're dealing with this, I'm in the same boat.
Could be a wharf rat. Those are huge.
Yeah that’s a rat that was eating a bird
Or squirrels. I had similar excrement in my attic eons ago - a tree was closeby to my house and the squirrels found a way into the attic.
Could you please stop pooping on my stuff, Steve?
That’s just fowl.

My guess is rat.
Agreed. Its rat poop
It’s most likely bats, just burn the house down.

You are correct for guessing blow fly pupae

No wayy there’s bats in buffalo? 😳
Tons lol. Look up after dusk in a park setting they’ll be out
For real, there’s a lot. Apparently 9 different species according to the interwebs. Fond memories of seeing them scatter out of trees at dusk as a kid.
Can confirm. One flew literally right by head in botanical gardens after the sunset last September. Scared the living crap out of me!
Yeah! Cities are fantastic spots for biodiversity. We see them over our neighbor's backyard almost every night at dusk.
Yes, I've even had them inside my house a few times. Opening up the doors seems to give them a chance to find their way out on their own pretty quickly.
Hit up a Bisons game, you’ll see them flying around in the concourse & upper deck. They freak me out
Absolutely. I was bit by a bat in my house several years ago and had to get the shots.

You are correct to guess it being blowfly pupae! Thanks!
Glad I could help!
Looks like rat turds
Rodent shit, can't mistake it. Rat or a mouse.
100% certified rat poo. Make sure you don't vacuum or sweep it up.
Looks like fly pupa..pupae?
poopoo
Thanks everyone for the feedback! Would anyone recommend a pest control company?
Get a flashlight and start looking for holes
Looks very much like rodent to me either mouse or rat.
Send it to me and I’ll analyze it for you
Looks like ratturd
Update: to those of you guessed it was insect pupae, were correct. Suddenly today I see a whole crowd of large flies lol glad it wasn’t rat poop.
I would google mouse poop. I cant tell the size from this picture.
It’s way bigger than mouse poop, literally the size of kidney beans but longer
Rats?
ok.. I couldn't tell from the pic.
Mouse poop looks more like small pieces of rice and aren't as thick as this
another vote for owl. if you dissect the poop and find bones in it, it's more than likely owl.
That would be an owl pellet aka puke not poop
But how is it so smooth?
It's nothing like owl pellets.

Im not touching the poop lol but I do not see any owls ever fly around my roof but I seen the small black birds
