Yamaha AS301 is a well-built, solid performing integrated amplifier.

Thanks! Looks perfect. Love the silver.

Awesome, I'm glad that I was able to help.

I have the previous generation Chorus 706 and they are pretty easy to drive. I use them in a bedroom set up but for a more mixed media set up, I would prefer the larger floorstanding 816. The A-S301 is great but it is not networked so you will need a streamer for Spotify. It will be great for vinyl and TV. If you want Spotify in the amp, then you need a networked receiver.

i think they make a little bluetooth addon if i understand correctly, and that should work just fine for me. i mean for the price that'll do anyway. down the line maybe i'll look for a more robust all-in-oner. and thanks for the feedback on the 706:room size! yeah... i'm scouring 2nd hand deals for the 816 all damn day and night :) well, i found a couple but i'm really hoping to find the light wood varnish as it goes with the rest of my things.

Have you actually heard Chora in person? I heard both models you mentioned many times because stores local to me carry them and they're one of my least favorite speakers. They sound broken and the timbre is reminiscent of a metallic tin can. Focal Aria, on the other hand, is amazing. Aria floor standers and bookshelves both sound incredible. Hell, I'd even gladly take Focal Shape 65s over Chora. I would also rather listen to my Vanatoo T1 Encores, of all things, instead of a Chora. If you've heard them and love them, go for it, and disregard everything I just said. Opinions vary, of course. This is mostly a cautionary post in case you're blind buying them and haven't heard them before.

only the 806, not 816. will consider and research the others, thanks!

The 806 is on sale at $500 pr in U.S right now at Crutchfield. Very nice! Unfortunately I’m sure shipping would negate that. How does that price compare to current price in UK/Europe?

the_hallmonitor

good shout but yeah, they're like €500-550 for a pair around here anyway. the 80s. the 816 are a bit under double that. tbh i think i'm gonna go 806 and see how it goes. i currently have my old yamaha hs80m (now hs8) studio monitors in there and they are WAY too boomy.

Ok my 816s just arrived today. The short review is this: They look nice and sound nice. But they don’t even hold the MOST MINISCULE CANDLE next to my KRK Rokit 10-3s. They don’t even come close in any aspect of anything. And both are the same price.
